Regarding your broken, previously authorized computer, here's how that works:
You would authorize your new computer -- maybe you've done that already.  Then you will have two computers authorized.  Apple allows you to have up to five computers authorized at any time.  If you get to five, you can then go to your account details in iTunes and remove all authorizations.
Bear in mind this is not saying you can synch to more tham one library.  Razmee209 and gdgmacguy's comments above are correct.  But if Apple only allowed you to authorize one computer at a time, then having a broken computer would mean you could no longer use your Apple ID with iTunes.

  • HT204053 2 devices - 1 icloud account issues; importing data to Iphone 6

I have an Iphone 4G and ipad which was sharing 1 icloud account . Big mistake! Because, the storage space was insufficient for both devices' data, I stopped backing up any more data into the icloud. Now I bought a new Iphone 6 and am wondering how I am to sync all my data ( including all the photos and contacts and apps) across from the Iphone 4G to the Iphone 6 .
Also, since I originally have 2 devices, can I create another icloud account separate for 4G now and then use that to sync my data across to the new  Iphone 6?
Otherwise I find it impossible to start using my iphone 6 at all!
    Thank you for any advice.

    Thank you for your reply.
My concern is that I do not want the data ( except for emails) which is in Ipad to be synced over to the new iphone which  I made the mistake of doing before with Iphone 4. The 2 devices are used for very different purposes so I would like to have 2 separate accounts for each device. My problem is trying to import only data from the iphone 4G to the new Iphone ,whereas since previously I only set up 1 icloud account for both devices, the data  ( eg photos, songs , books and apps ) appeared on both devices. I am trying to deviate from this. so in essence., I am hoping to set up a totally new account for the new iphone but to copy data from iphone 4 across.
Or should I  buy extra storage for a month  just for the purpose of backing up all data from both ipad and iphone 4 into that particular icloud account, then set up a new icloud account for iphone 6 and copy everything across and then delete data that came from the ipad one by one in the iphone 6 . After all, the new iphone 6 has 64 gb. In that way, I can still maintain the icloud account for ipad ( and then delete all the unnecessary data from iphone 4 in that particular icloud account) and have a separate icloud account for the new Iphone 6 as well.
Would really appreciate some feedback . TQ.

  • HT1766 I have forgotten my iPhone backup password. Is there a way of getting it as I am trying to load my old data from iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5?

I have forgotten my iPhone backup password. Is there a way of getting it as I am trying to load my old data from iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5?

If on a Mac, and you elected to save such to your Keychain, you can recover it from your Keychain. Otherwise, you can't.
While you can continue to sync/backup, if you can't remember it & want to remove it, you'll have to delete your existing backups & restore the phone as a new device. Your data will be unrecoverable.

Calendar Tile on Windows 8.1 displaying incorrect date for icloud calendar but date icon displays correct date on iPhone 5 and iPad Air.  Date on Windows 8.1 is correct.  Thank you.

Try doing  a reset on your phone. Sounds like your carrier's time set is not getting through to your device. If the reset doesn't do it, then go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. That should do it.

  • Question re: syncing with Itunes in preparation for transfer of data to iphone 6

Hi,  I have an iPhone 4s that I have never synced to iTunes.  I've never synced it because it is my understanding that all the music on my  PC in iTunes would be copied to my iPhone. I have  a huge iTunes library that is much bigger than the space I have on my iPhone.
    My questions are:
    1.  Am I right in assuming that everything in my PC iTunes goes to my iPhone when I sync?
    2.  Is there any way to sync without copying everything to my iPhone?
And here are a few more questions:
    1.  It is recommended to update to IOS8 prior to transferring data to iPhone 6?
    2.   I have heard that using iCloud to transfer data to new iPhone does NOT transfer apps or passwords.  Is that true??
    Any help much appreciated!

Have you had Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes - this was selected the last time you synced your iPhone with iTunes a couple of months ago?
I have Sync Apps and Automatically sync new apps checked. Both have been checked every time I sync'd since I got my phone.
It deleted apps that I know were already in my iTunes, since they were apps I have had practically since the day I purchased my iPhone.
The apps in your iTunes library on your computer don't need to be downloaded again.
When I sync'd it deleted all the apps in my iTunes library as well. They were there previously, but now they are not.
You can view your iTunes account with iTunes - Store > View My Account. Check Purchase History.
You can re-download an app with iTunes on your computer and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app.
Ok, so this tells me what I have purchased, but it doesn't seem to allow me to do this. I checked my iTunes account and have confirmed that I have purchased a specific app, and using that same iTunes account I tried to download the app but it tells me that my credit card will be charged if I wish to continue. Will it actually be charged? And, yes, I'm positive that it is the same iTunes account. I am only signed into one and did this all from the same computer and same iTunes.

  • Lost all of my data on iphone and have no cloud back up how can i get my data back

lost all of my data on iphone and have no cloud back up how can i get my data back

iOS devices do backup automatically to iCloud providing:
    iCloud Backup is turned on
    It has a Wi-Fi connection
It is connected to a power source
    The screen is off
5GB is plenty of storage for me to backup to iCloud automatically.
I have a 64GB iPhone & a 128GB iPad both backing up to the same iCloud account and I still have nearly 2GB free.
This is mainly because media is not backed up and Photo Stream & iTunes purchases do not count against your iCloud storage.
    Here’s what iCloud backs up:
Purchase history for music, movies, TV shows, apps, and booksYour iCloud backup includes information about the content you have purchased, but not the purchased content itself. When you restore from an iCloud backup, your purchased content is automatically downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store. Some types of content aren’t downloaded automatically in all countries, and previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the store. • Deleting data in iPhone with deliberate wrong passcode attempts?

Hi, I would like to know if one can deliberately delete the data in the iphone by 10 wrong passcode attempts, but, without having to restore the phone to factory defaults?
I have an unlocked iphone 3G running OS 3.1.2, which i am going to give away. Want to delete all my personal data in it but dont want to get rid of unlocking. If i use the "Erase All Content and Settings" under 'General -> Reset' option, it would reset the phone so I have to load the new OS which will remove the unlock. As i said, I dont want that.
So exploring ways to delete all data from iphone without having to reload the OS. Any ideas on my original question - does deliberate 10 wrong passcode attempts only delete the iphone data or puts me to restore the iphone to factory defaults? If it is going to force me to do restore to factory default and lose the unlock, i will stay away from doing it.
    Appreciate your ideas.

My mistake, I misread the manual. Here is the infomration from the manual.
    Resetting iPhone
Reset all settings: Choose General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
Erase all content and settings: Connect iPhone to your computer or a power adapter. Choose General > Reset and tap “Erase All Content and Settings.”
This resets all settings to their defaults and erases all your information and media:
On iPhone 3GS or later: by removing the encryption key to the data (which is encrypted using 256-bit AES encryption)
On iPhone 3G: by overwriting the data
Important: You can’t use iPhone while data is being overwritten. This can take up to two hours or more, depending on the model and storage capacity of your iPhone. (On iPhone 3GS or later, the encryption key is removed immediately.)

  • Tried to transfer all my data to iPhone 5 from iPhone 3GS lost my email and app data?  Do you why and how I can fix this?

    Hi...
Tried to transfer all my data to iPhone 5 from iPhone 3GS lost ONLY my email and app data?  But weird thing is, its still on my old phone!!!
Do you know why and how I can fix this?
    Shelley

How did you "try" to transfer this data? The only way to restore App data is by restoring from a backup that contains the App data, then syncing the Apps back to the phone. Emails are not included in any iPhone backup, only account settings.

Hook the phone to the computer, open the Computer icon and look for the iPhone folder. Copy the images. Not difficult at all. Sync your contacts with Outlook through iTunes. Not really so difficult.

  • It says the itunes software is up to date, the iphone is up to date and it is plugged in. Any suggestions? Thanks!

my iphone 4S is not showing up under devices in my itunes account. It says the itunes software is up to date, the iphone is running on iOS6.0.1,so I think that is up to date as well. I have tried plugging it in again and pulling it out. Any suggestions?

You don't say what version of OS X you're running.  If you're trying to sync running iOS 6 you'll need OS X 10.5.8 or later and iTunes 10.6.3 or later.  There are other troubleshooting steps here: iPhone not recognized in iTunes for Mac.
