"Date of manuf." in MSC2n

Dear All,
I need to maintain the "date of manuf." in MSC2n.
When GR finished then this date field will populate automatically from 'last good receipt".
Any body advice me?

This date is maintained at time of MIGO, when the material is batch managed, you enter this date in batch tab in item detail, and
when the Material document is saved, this date is automatically populated in this field.
Make sure all MIGO,with batch managed materials has this date maintained, usually this field is kept mandatory in MIGO.

Batch creation Date of Manuf and Shelf life issue

Hello,
I am having issues when batch gets created during Process order Creation/Confirmation.
The issue is when the Batch gets created on creation/confirmation(101 GR) the field "Date of Manuf" is not populated on the batches(with todays date) which I checked in MSC3N.
Because of this the shelf life is not getting populated(based on Shelf life data from MM) and is causing my Batch determination process to not work in Sales order/Delivery.
Can anyone tell me if there is a config or master data set up
1) which will either populate the field "Date of Manuf" automatically(when I do GR or Usage)
or
2) If it can give a pop up during Quality Inspection(usage) or Process order confirmation that will force someone to enter the Date of Manuf.
Also when I check my classification tab for the batch(in MSC3N), the classification data does not gets created, which afffects my Batch determination process during Sales order/Delivery process.
I have to manually go in the Batch(MSC2N) and enter todays date for Date of manuf and create classification data.
Any Ideas what the issue is?

Hi, what you can do i set total shelf life in Plant Data / storage 1 view in the material master. In such way the date of manufacture will be required field to enter when you produce material. Shelf life date will be calculated automatically based on the total shelf life mantained. In some transactions (we are using MFBF) when total shelf life is populated in the material master, the date of production is defaulted in the transaction (with the current date), you can check if this is applicable in your scenario.

Hi, in addition to that you can check transaction OMCV - here you can activate automatic batch classification per movement type - so the batches can be classified automatically by SAP

Change in Stock Type in Back Date

Dear Friends,
Is there any way to change stock type (from Restricted-Use to Unrestricted-Use) in back date? (other than MSC2N)
For Example:
I have posted a stock in August in restricted-use by GR. Till now, it lies in restricted-use only.
Now, I want to make change in stock type from Restricted-use to Unrestricted-use in august only.
Is it possible?
I have tried using MSC2N but its change stock type on current date.
Also, in MIGO Transfer Posting by Mvt Type 342/341 is not allowed.
Is there a way out? Thanks in advance.

Go to Transaction Code SE38
Enter program name RMMMINIT
Execute or press F8 function button
Enter your company code (From and To)
Enter relevant date: Say 26/08/2008 for aug. 2008 month to be opened as of now...
then go to MIGO...
Now is will allow you to post...

Ok, you have me confused. You want to do this as a one time thing? I thought you want it to look every day, or every week, for batches that have reached their next inspection date?
If its a one time thing, then yes, just run QA07 one time. It only looks at unrestricted inventory. Do not set up any parameters in the bottom half of the screen for expiration date. If you do, any of those that have reached expiration date will be moved to blocked stock and no inspection lots created.
If you want this to run regularly, you, or someone, needs to use QA05 to set up the batch job to run on a regular basis witht the approriate "days" value for how often your running it and how far in advance of the inspection date you want lots created. And of course tick on "to inspection stock".
There is no "automatic creation" as I think your thinking. You either run QA07 once a day, or once a week or as often as you want to. OR you set it up in a batch job (QA05) to be run once a day, once a week or as often as you want to.
When the batch job is running, it 'appears' that the lots get created automatically. But it is the QA07 program being run in batch that is creating them.

Entry during GR of a batch

Dear Experts,
During GR of raw material from vendor we want to enter the next inpection date in the batch itself .But the fields for the characteristics appears grey and is not allowing to enter the next inspection date in the batch . Please suggest whether this can be done though any other settings or user exit is the only way .

By development you can alter the next inspection date. Use this user exit with correct logic
QEVA0003 Calculate "Next inspection date" for batch
In MSC2N you can give the next inspection date also.

Automatic Batch Determination is not happening for New Sales Order Type

Dear Experts,
I have created a new sales order type ZBPY - For Free Sales, but automatic batch detrmination and batch pick up is not happening for new sales order type, but it is activated for all the other sales order types in Production Server, can any body let me know the steps how to map this new order type to batch management and let it behave like other order types.

Kindly check the following steps for automatic batch determination.
1. First check the material is maintained with batch in the warehouse management.
2. Maintain new entry for search procedure for batch determination with the new created doc type.
3. Maintain new entry for automatic batch determination for sales order or automatic batch determination for delivery ( This depends on the business process of our client, whether they want to determine the batch with sales order or at the delivery level. check this and make new entry)
4. Create Batch using T.code MSC1N with proper date of manuf. and SLED.
5. Create Batch Search Strategy using T.code VCH1 with proper strategy type.
6. Maintain stock with active batch. check this with t.code LS26 or LS24.

How to find original [manufacturing] plant of a batch

Could you plaease help me to find link between original manufacturing plant & depot where product is laying currently.
I'm using tables MCH1, MCHA & MCHB currently. But the column of Original plant is blank. Please find

dear friend,
take your batch number and material document year and go to table MSEG
put this data and set 101 into BWART field (your movement type). find the record in MSEG
take the value from AUFNR field (the production order which is linked to your batch) and go to table AFPO
put the prod.oder number and find the record.
now your original manufacturing data as folows:
AFPO-DWERK is your manufacturing plant
AFPO-PWERK is your planning plant
AFPO-LGORT is your storage location

WM Bin with Batch NEW.

I have a Bin #5-1-50-2 with stock in the batch = NEW. Somehow the user entered the batch with NEW and period at the end of NEW. Does anyone know how to remove the period from the batch NEW?

Could you please explain what's your exact requirement using proper SAP terminology?
If you want to change batch master data you can use MSC2N. If you are speaking data stored in quant, you can use the mentioned MB1B + 309 but I prefer MB1B + 311 with same SLoc (as receiving and issuing SLoc).
Please clarify your problem.

Report to get next inspection date from msc2n

Dear All ,
I am trying to create a report for materials batches and the next inspection dates in msc2n . Is there a report of this type available in standard SAP ?
Secondly
From msc2n it gives the field as QNDAT in table MCHA . However I notice that when the dates in msc2n are manually changed or many other times the fields QNDAT in MCHA are completely blank . I have how ever noticed that the field QNDAT in MCH1 gives all the next inspection dates . How ever it is not mentioned in msc2n > How could this be explained .

Yes As correctly suggested by Ashok the table is MCH1, from where you can find all the details you need. along with the changed (Updated record) through MSC2N.

Dear Ram,
BMBC will not help you to see the 'Next Inspection Date' in list form for all the batches in one screen. You will need to go to the Batch detail Change-Display for each batch to meet the requirement. While the table MCH1 is 100% satisfactory one for your requirement.

MSC2n next inspection lot to be calculated from the production date

My query is
1. In Tcode MSC2n, next inspection lot is to be calculated from the production date and not from last goods movement date. is it possible to get next inspection lot to be calculated from the production date.
2. how to make automatic creation of inspection lot in SAP based on the next inspection date. Right not, it is being done manually using T-code QA07.

To manipulate next inspection date use user exit QEVA0003.
To automatically create 09 inspection types use transaction QA05, schedule it to run in background at periodic interval

How to call MSC2N in the QA11 transaction before saving the data

I need to call MSC2N in the QA11 transaction because i want the Next inspection date for the particular material, plant, and batch. but while iam in QA11 the batch is locked so it will not allow me to go to MSC2N. So to see Next inspection date i have to come out of QA11 and then go to MSC2N to get corresponding Next inspection date.
To avoid this i want that in QA11 i should call MSC2N. or how to unlock batch so that i can go to MSC2N while iam in QA11.......is it possible

and pass BYPASS_LOCK = 'X' and fill in all the other fields.

Wrong Expiry date in MSc2N

Dear All
As per my business process i need expiry and retest date one day before from the Mfg date.
Fo that i have maintained the data in remaining shelf life /Maximum shelf life/Total shelf life and inspection interval in MM.
I.e If mfg date : 12.12.2008 and based on stability i need recurring inspection after 1 year and want to keep expiry as 3 year.
data maintained in MM as
MM                                                                                Date appear in MSC2N
Inspection interval : 364 days                                              11.12.2009
Remaining shelf life : 1094                                                   12.12.2011
Maximum and total shelf life : 1095.
My requirement is, expiry date shall update as 11.12.2011 insead of 12.12.2008

Maintain Min. Rem. Shelf Life : 1, Total shelf life : 1094, Period Ind. for SLED : D in Plant data/stor.1 and Inspection interval :365 in Quality Management views of Material master.
Now create batch, enter manufacturing date and check for expiry date.
