Date Picker ADF Faces

I have a selectinputdate on my jsp page. When I run my app in OC4J Standalone 10.1.3 and select the calendar image for the date picker, a popup opens with the following error: 500 Internal Server Error
java.lang.IllegalStateException: AdfFacesContext was already released or had never been attached.
Any idea what is wrong with my application?

I do not have the ability to post my jsp page. (If you really need it, I can type it in my next post). I am developing in Eclipse and JDev 10.1.3.0.4 that is why I am running the application using the Standalone OC4J server and not the embedded OC4J. Is there a specific library that I am missing to get the date picker to work?
Thanks for any help.

  • Question on Active Data in Adf Faces

    hi,all
I am learning Oracle Adf, and interested in the component called Active Output Text, but I can't find the way to use it,could you please show me or find me some samples?
I have used Oracle BAM before,Can Active Output Text or some other components act as the components in BAM, I mean they can refresh themselves when changes occur in the back end?
    Thank you!
    Regards

    Hi,
yes, they work the same as in BAM. There are no examples out yet that will teach this technology. Also note that since this question is JDeveloper 11 related it should better go to the JDeveloper 11 forum:

  • Deploying ADF Faces (JDev 10.1.3) to Application server 10gR2 (10.1.2)

Is it possible to deploy a Toplink/sessionEJBs/Data controls/ADF Faces app (written in jDev10.1.3) to Oracle Application Server (10.1.2)?
I'm using Application Developers Framework Developer's guide adfdevguide.pdf, which says that you can. However it requires swicthing the JDK to 1.4, which generates compiler errors - 'errorIllegalCharacter' in the sessionEJB, on lines with annotations.
Is it possible to auto-generate session EJBs for JDK 1.4?
    Thanks
    Robin

    Thanks for the reply Prasanth.
I can now see why I'm getting the error - because the session bean seems to use EJB3.0 by default. This puts annotations in the session bean code, which fails because I'm using JDK1.4
If I force the project to use EJB2.0, then when creating the session bean, it ignores of the toplink classes, and when I create a data control, the table related services aren't included.
Do I need to create either the sessionEJB or datacontrols in a different way??
    Thanks,
    Robin

  • ADF BC - Date Picker closes Popup

    Hi all,
I have a inputDate field inside of a form which is in a popup. When i choose a date from the date picker that comes up, (the one built in to the inputDate field) my popup closes. Is there a way to keep the popup open until a user clicks back on the main page, or clicks the commit button (commit button is inside the form, inside the popup)
    Thanks,
    Dan

Try to place a panelDialog or panelWindow inside your pop up and have the Form inside it.

  • EJB 3.0 / Data control binding / ADF Faces

We have a great and very useful tool to generate rich client web application. Generate web component from a data structure is easy but manage the full life cycle is a little bit more complex. This complexity is dramatically increased when tool/platform are offering many models to solve the problem.
In JDev we have three major choices:
    1) adf business components
    2) top link pojo
    3) ejb3.0
From the client side and in my point of view (at my current understanding) the first and second choice are the easiest way to manage the persistence because they are what i say "bidirectional", that mean i will use the same data structure to persist and synchronize the database. I may only calll a method from the object to put my changes from the midle-tier into the database.
EJB 3.0 seem to be more cormplex due essentially to the presence of the session bean that acts like conversational api. I like this architecture because it is the most flexible but from my client i have to manage these api's instead of one data structure. This mean for me to catch/detect every updates, new insert or deletes in my business object and to write the corresponding code to apply to correct entity bean methods from my session bean.
Why not manage this logic in the data control framework by declaring which methods are to use as finder to get the data and which methods are to used to manage the persistence (persist, merge, remove) at object level.

    Exactly what i mean
Actually Data Control architecture seem to be business object oriented with native method called from the same object to retrieve (the most part done)/synchronize the data with the database.
This is fine than your architectue don't provide a service layer like session facade.
With session facade you will access different business method to retrieve data and synchronize you data with the database not different method from the same object like application module do in adf bc.
I see two solution, the best is that you extend the data control framework to offer standard crud operation and a tools to map these with one or many methods in the same (has to be the same?this is a question of architecture, i think it has to be the same but the framework may have to permit to use an another one for flexibility) session bean. This may be the same from adf bc or top link but the method may be selected automatically by the tool (wizard).
The second solution is to build specialized sesssion bean with mandatory standardized methods and map this directly in the framework. The advantage i see is that the updates may be collected only once by the session bean by passing a specialized object manipulated by a specialized method.
In fact the best solution is something that combines mapping in the data control and a specialized set of methods in the session bean to execute a transaction in a whole at the server level.
What is to be decided if the framework (data control part) has to maintain a status for attribute (or set of attribute that correspond to a data control node) that are new inserted, updated or deleted and to synchronize only the changes.
I'm very surprising that something like that it is not already in the framework ?
How do I have to take care of changes made in a data control node object when i have used it to generate an adf faces by example in master / detail pages with an edit form like in otn examples. I see that the detail list in the detail table is updated so the data control is updated correctly by the edit form when i submit the changes but how to finally get this changes and synchronize with the database ?
ps i reply previously by mistake by email sorry ... not that the email is not exactly the same as the post here

  • ADF Swing 11g - How to bind date picker

    Hello,
My Swing application needs to use date picker control, and I decided to use JCalendar from www.toedter.com.
Is there any example on binding such Swing component? Or are there other date picker control that can easily integrate into JDev and ADF for that matter?
    Thanks
    Regards,

Mmm well i don't know if this can help you
I am using a date picker too, this is the code where I use it
    <af:selectInputDate label="#{bundle[\'newPatient.birthday\']}"
                                          required="true"
                                          requiredMessageDetail="#{bundle[\'newPatient.validate.birthday\']}"
                                          binding="#{PatientCreateBean.birthday}"/>My binding property is PatientCreateBean.birthday
    and birthday is type CoreSelectInputDate
I got info about the different elements to use in ADF from the following link

  • Problem with ADF Faces; Bean (session scope) keeps Data after Session ends

    Hi,
I have a project, which was transferred from an myFaces-project to an ADF Faces-project. Since i´am working with the ADF Faces the data in my beans (which are all in session-scope) won´t vanish after a logout.
    1) I have a method in one bean, which clears the user data (name and passwd), for example, but after a logout (redirecting to the login-page) I just have to push the loginbutton to get in the app. as the last user logged in. The bean is cleared, but where does the data come from. When the app was working with myFaces, this did not happen, the inputText and the inputHidden were empty.
    2) I have a af:table, which displays max ten lines. If the last user watched the elements 21 to 30 in that table, the next user who watches the table gets the same elements shown and not the elements 1 to 10. That shouldn´t happen in a different session.
    3) I have some listboxes in one page, where a user can make some decisions. If i logout and in again, i can see the decisions last made in these listboxes.
All that happens with beans in session scope!
Thanks for the replies (i hope) and excuse my bad english,
    Santiago

    Hi
If this is the case , you can explicitly make all ur session data objects null.

  • Information about adf data model's state management in JSF/ADF faces?

    Dear All,
i am developing an application with JSF/ADF faces + using
adf data model (EJB, not adf bc)...
i want to know more about state management of adf data model..
    1. under what condition, will the data in the binding context
(methodIterator, variableIterator, accessorIterator..etc) be maintained accross
http requests? say browse pageA.jspx, pageB.jspx, pageC.jspx..then do data
in the corresponding pages saved somewhere else until session timeout?
    2. how do the binding context data be saved ?? http session?
i can't find detail information in the adf bc dev guide and the adf dev guide..
could anyone give me more information about this?? any better document??
i have asked these question several times...but seem nobody can give me a
full picture about the adf data model's state management....it is quite important
in order to develop good application using adf data model.
my company have brought oracle's support service...can i get these information
through metalink (open a SR) ?? or actually no such information available ??
btw, after playing with adf data model for a few weeks, i do find it is very
hard to learn it... no complete document, information is just by providing example...
    adf data model do make:
    1. simple logic, supported by adf, more simple in coding
    2. simple logic, not supported by adf, more complex in coding
    3. complex logic, much more complex in coding...brain damage..
    lsp

    Hi,
actually, these pages don't explain the state management about the adf data model's iterators?
i want to know the state management of the iterators...for some iterators..it's
    state is maintained across requests...
please see my previous post: ADF JSF data binding: why state maintained between requests? that Frank Nimphius said:
"in this case its the iterator that survives the page navigation"...
in the adf dev guide..section 5.5.5..it says: "Upon each request, the iterator bindings are refreshed to rebind them to the
underlying RowSetIterator objects. By default, the rowset iterator state and the
data caches are maintained between requests."
in dev guide, it seems state is maintained for request for the same page, but not
accross different pages. but in fact, the rowset iterator do survive...
any detail document that write down the actual behavior of the iterators?
    thank you.

  • ADF Faces RichTable doesn't validate but still display changed data

    Hello,
I think I miss something in the ADF Faces lifecycle management. Can you help me?
    In a adf faces/jsf page,
1- I have a RichTable which DataModel is based on a List<Department> stored in a managed bean (session).
2- I have a button "Cancel" with immediate=true partialSubmit=false (I don't use PPR) and an ActionMethod that does a few changes (not in the model) and return "success".
When I modify a value in the table (that has some af:inputText) and click on the Cancel button, the underlying List<Department> instance isn't changed (Which I expect because of the immediate=true property!). But the table still display the changes I've typed in the page. How can I reverse the data displayed in the table to before my change in the UI (in a simple manner)? What do I miss?
    Best Regards
    Gregory

    Hi,
immediate = true makes sure that the component is evaluated before all the other. In addition the value change event fires before the model update to give you the opportunity to prevent the update. I don't know what your managed bean code is doing, but the fact that the table has the update indicates the RC table component to work properly. Your table model isn't updated, which I don't think will be automatic. So I assume you will have to access the current selected row, get the row object and pass it to the list for an update

  • Adf faces, data control and more than one session context ?

I already put the question in the forum but nobody answered may be my question may not be so clear so i would put it again with other words.
Each xml page definition are instantiated in a binding container for a http session, you are able to get the data with bindings or data that represent the current binding container (bindings) or a given container corresponding to an another page that the current (data).
It is perfect when you don't allow multiple instances of the same page in the same application session. Browser are now offering tab management that allow user to navigate through multiple applications just by changing the current tab. It's very useful. I imagine that user's will be using it also in my application and will use it to compare or more simply just watch about two different entities of the same type (the same xml page definition, the same object instantiated in the binding container).
Because the binding container is associated with the http session all tabs will share the same one, isn't ? So i understand the problem and that it is forbidden to have many identical page for a single instance in the binding container because of synchronization issues.
Is all that i said true ?
Is it a way to solve this type of problem ?
Will this problem be addressed by adf faces and data controls ?
    Hope somebody will answer !

  • Advise on maximum number of Active data ADF faces components on one page

How many active data ADF faces components (ADS configured in long polling transport mode) can we have on a page? Is there any restriction (eg: one factor could be max number of concurrent HTTP connections) ?

Can you please tell us which JDev version you are using? A use case would be appreciated too.
There has been a discussion on ADS here the last couple of days. Search the forum and you may find some useful info.

  • Adf uix, removing date picker

I am working (with jdev 10.1.2) to an adf uix project. In some messagedatefield the date picker is not useful, and I don’t want the user to try to use it. How can I remove it?
    Thanks in advance, Mauro

You can use the messageTextInput with a onSubmitValidator
    <onSubmitValidater>
    <date dateStyle="short"/>
    </onSubmitValidater>
This will validate that the input is of the short date format.

  • ADF-Faces table and mass data

    Hello Oracle,
we consider to use ADF-Faces with Spring and TopLink or Hibernate that supports all important commercial databases.
We need a solution for selecting mass data and show them using a ADF-Faces component.
ADF-Faces table looks great and is fine for for some hundred datasets. But we have customers who could do a select over 80.000 or more datasets and it cannot be the solution to load them completly in collection-model in memory.
Do you have a solution or do you plan somthing? A JSF data table component for mass data (e.g. load from database on every "next or "previous" click)?
    Regards
    Florian

I'm pretty new to ADF Faces etc. but I know the ADF Table component supports paging. If you're using ADF Business Components as the persistence framework it supports paging out of the box giving you exactly what you're looking for.
If you're using EJBs or Toplink I think you have to write your own paging interface but I don't know this for sure.

  • ADF FACES: af:table and complex column data

    Using EA15.
I want to use an af:table to allow the in-place editing of the data. However, I have some fields that are not simple text entry fields. Two of them would ideally use af:selectOneList elements. This doesn't work given the limitations of how af:column elements work.
Is there anyone out there creating complex, in-place edit tables? If so, how are you doing it?
    Thanks.

I was mistakenly believing that you couldn't use a selectOneChoice in an af:table given some experimentation where they simply failed to render at all.
It turns out that I had a hadn'e created the appropriate setter method for the property. However, instead of making the data readOnly (as most of the ADF FACES controls do) it just didn't render anything. Thus making me think it just didn't work inside of a table.
FYI - in case this happens to anyone else.
