Date reset on macbook pro, 5 pop up windows asking for permission, worried.

I restarted by macbook pro this morning and was informed that the date had been reset to a date before Jan 1st 2008 (Sunday December 31, 2000) and I had five pop up windows appear asking for me to grant permission connections to these applications:
nmbd
mDNSResponder
cups-id
krb5kdc
configd
Has anyone had this happen to them? I'm not exactly sure what to do.

Should I worry about nmbd and krb5kdc?
Exactly the same thing has just happened to me... I restarted mac book pro, date was changed to 1 Jan 2008, and those 5 boxes popped asking for permission to connect.
I did the same as brogroove: reset the date but I also allowed those connections.
Everything works now but i am worried because "nmbd" and "krb5kdc" are listed as allowed connections in my firewall setting.
Are they dangerous or normal programmes?
They look out of place on the the allowed connections list as I easily recognise the other programmes eg. iTunes, Safari, etc.
Can I delete them from the allowed connections or should I leave them?

Everytime I open Safari on my MacBook Pro a pop-up window from my Finder menu, with the Applications highlighted on the left in the favorites column with the Resources folder highlighted comes up and locks my Safari page until I manually close the Resources window then I have to refresh the internet search address line at the top of Safari. Can someone tell me how to stop this. It started after a software upgrade. It didn’t do that before. Thank you.

A few thoughts for diagnosis/testing purposes:
Have you recently run the disk utility and repaired HD and permissions? If not do so.
Boot into the Safe mode - hold down shift key on boot - and see if the problems are still there. Some functions won't work but see if anything odd happens.
Check your startup items. Get rid of them temporarily.
Create a new user account and see if the problems occur with the new account.
Lastly, be sure your backup is up-to-date.

Some users have reported this problem if the Mail Application has been moved out of the top-level /Applications folder, or duplicated in another location.
When the Security Update is done, the old version of Mail is disabled.
    The solution has been to:

  • A pop up window asking for my password?

Ever since I changed the admistrators password, this stupid window keeps popping up.

    any ideas?
It says that Safari is asking for the password...

This is in the Help section..and it isn't true. I never DID create a keychain password. And, it is NOT the same password as my login password. I've tried every password I've ever used, and NONE OF THEM WORK. This is really (oh, excuse me while I hit the cancel button twice) ARGH The only password I ever set was the adminstrator one. I used to set Screen Saver passwords on PC's with ease...the Mac password system is wayyy too complicated.
    ========================
You start with a single keychain, which is created automatically the first time you log in to your Mac OS X user account. Your default keychain has the same password as your login password. This keychain is unlocked automatically when you log in to Mac OS X and is referred to in Keychain Access menus as the "login" keychain.
You can create different keychains to store passwords for different purposes (for example, one for work and one for online shopping) or make a copy of a keychain so you can take it with you to other computers.
Keychains can be accessible to just a single user or sha

  • Weird Pop-up window asking for password.

I have an iPhone 3gs (I know, I know...I'll upgrade soon!) and lately a window pops up (constantly) that asks for my password for a Yahoo account that I don't recognize...am I being "hacked"? - or at least is someone trying?
    Kind of freaking me out.

    Hi...here's what the pop-up says...
    Password Required
Enter the password for the CalDAV
    account "Yahoo!"
I have no idea what CalDav means...or what it's for....I have no association with CalDAV - I can't seem to get rid of it. I have looked under all my settings and can't find anything with this name....

  • I have a question in regards to spyware / keylogger for my MacBook Pro. My employer recently asked for my MacBook to "make sure it running smoothly" I currently have no issues. I haven't yet gave it to them. How can I tell if keylogger/spyware added?

so I havent gave them my MacBook yet but I highly suspect they will be adding keylogger or spyware of some sort. It there a easy way to help me tell if they have added something before i hand it over to them so I can't tell what they have done?

If the computer is owned by your employer, not by you, then you should use it as it's given to you. Use it only for work, not for anything personal. Don't have any expectation of privacy while using it. Don't connect it to your home network. Assume that a keylogger or any other kind of monitoring software is installed.

  • I recently loaded OS 10.6.2. I can get on the internet but can't access email. I get a pop up that asks for my email passwd. I enter the passwd but it is rejected. My email provider checked everything from their end and said it was my software. Any ideas?

I recently installed 10.6.2, everything was fine for a few days. Last night I logged on to check email and got a new pop up window asking for my email account password. Its never came up before with the old OS or with the new OS prior to this point. I entered my password but it was rejected. After an 1 1/2 hours on the phone with my internet/email service provider it was determined that my password was good and the system was ok on their end. Access to the internet is not affected so I think its something wrong with the new OS. Any ideas?
    thanks

  • Resetting 2010 MacBook Pro issues

    Hi,
I'm wanting to reset my MacBook Pro to factory settings to sell to my sister. I had the original snow leopard on my 2010 model and a few months ago upgraded to mountain lion.
I did the command + r key, and went into data utility to clear the system. Now when I try to reinstall my mountain lion OS X it won't let it process and says there are problems affecting it... Any idea how to make this work?
    Thanks

To reset to factory settings you should install the OS that came with it.  Use your Snow Leopard installation disks.

  • How to reset my macbook pro late 2011

I have a late 2011 macbook pro that i installed mountain lion when i got it, it orginally had snow leopard. I have the iLife CD and the Mac OS X install DVD but when i put the cd in it says "You cant use this version of the application "install Mac OS X" with this verion of OS X. you have "Install Mac OS X" 23.1.1. If anyone knows what i have to do to reset my macbook pro to factory settings please tell me. I would like a answer ASAP.

In that case, you don't have a Late 2011 MacBook Pro, as they came with Lion, not with Snow Leopard. This message appears because you are trying to reinstall Snow Leopard while you are running Lion or a newer Mac OS X version.
To restore the MacBook Pro to factory settings:
    1. Make a backup of your files.
    2. Insert the Mac OS X disc and hold the C key while your Mac is starting to start up from the disc.
    3. Go to Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Disk Utility, and erase the drive > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html If you are going to sell the Mac, consider using a secure erase option.
    4. Close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X.
    5. Insert the Applications disc and install iLife apps.
    6. Open  > Software Update, and install the most recent version.
If you are going to sell the Mac, ignore the steps 5 and 6, and turn off the Mac when the installation is completed.

  • Syncing iphone data into New Macbook Pro

    Hey guys,
I read a few answers on the forum but I want clear confirmation if any of you could help. I lost data on my Macbook Pro as the hard drive crashed. I bought a new Macbook Pro and I want to sync the data of the iphone into the new computer.
I need to transfer, mainly...SMSes, Contacts, Photos, and mail data (My mail is all IMAP though which is good right? perhaps transfer that information would be nice).
Applications and the data on them if possible and music would be good.
Isit safe and as easy as plug and sync? I also have a Fruux Account but the iphone data is more updated because while awaiting my new laptop, I was using my iphone as the temporary computer.
Is there anything else I should do first? Sync Fruux first or vice versa and should I do anything else?
    Thank you!

Good, glad you have a backup. So what you need to do is move those libraries from your PC to the new MBP and then import them into iTunes. Follow the instructions you will find here. I would recommend you move the files to an external HD.
Prior to doing that I would also recommend you read over Switch 101 and Mac 101. Both of these links will provide you invaluable information for someone making the switch from a PC to a Mac.
    Regards,
    Roger

  • What connection options do I have in transfer of data from my macbook pro 13" to my iMac

What connection options do I have in transfer of data from my MacBook Pro 13" to my iMac?

If available, use a Firewire cable and put the origin in Target Disk Mode.  That's how I rescued all my stuff, all 150GB of it, from my now dead Early '08 MBP to my current one.
With the new crop, I believe you can use the Thunderbolt ports as well.
