Date & Time changed by itself - VIRUS ?

Wonder if anyone of you can understand this strange behaviour.
When I boot up this morning (not connected to Internet yet - Airport off, no internet connection), I have the following messages:
1. A series of 4 messages asking to "Deny" or "Allow" 4 programs requests - can't remember the exact request but the Help screen (smaller question mark at bottom left corner) explained the programs are asking for something. The programs have names of 4 to 5 letters something like "pbkp" etc Note. just an illustration not the exact name. Forgot to write them down.
2. One message warning my computer date and time set to sometime in 2008 !!!
I did the following:
1. Clicked "Deny" to all four requests.
2. Go to System Preferences - Date & Time was set to "Set date and time automatically" - but the date and time was changed to above.
I then connect to Internet - the date and time were reset automatically to the correct date and time.
It is now more than 10 hours since and I have no problems.
But, should I be concern with:
1. why the date and time was changed?
2. the appearing of the 4 messages?
I understand we should not get viruses with Mac.
Is there anything I should do to cleanse the computer?
Note:
2 days earlier I did received an email on Google mail and I inadvertently clicked on the link which led to a site to buy medicine and the like. I immediately close the site and thrashed the mail.
COuld this be the problem?

This may just be keychain requests to allow access to password protected information.

It will only set automatically if it is conencted to the Net.

On a PC I'd be more worried about this, but it is possible you may be one of the few to have managed to get affected by a trojan horse, not a virus. A virus can act without any action by the user. A trojan horse only reacts to user requests. It is possible that part of this e-mail actually was to present a series of deny/allow requests. If you are the administrative user of the computer or have authorized the program with your password to act on your machine, you could in fact have allowed a trojan horse to run. But without giving the machine your password, there is very little a program can do to impact the computer.
Never open an e-mail you don't recognize. That's lesson number one. If your friends and family send you an e-mail, make sure they indicate in the subject line what they are writing about. This will avoid you confusing it for something else.
If you aren't expecting an e-mail, don't open it.

  • Date and time/ changes by itself

    My date and time....well mostly my time keeps randomly changing.....any ideas?

    I *may* have found a solution.  I had been having the same issues with my iPhone 5 running the latest iOS (6.0).  And it was changing its time AND date - and seemed to be happening both randomly AND any time I changed cell towers (I'm on Verizon) - especially if one cell tower was LTE and one was not.  What I did was turn OFF the "Set Automatically" function:
    Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically to OFF
    Then there is a feature called "Setting Time Zone" in location services.
    Settings > Privacy > Scroll all the way to the bottom and you should see "System Services" > Setting Time Zone "off"
    This allows your location services to still run, except for that one small part.
    Not sure if this will fix your particular issue or not.  But so far it is working well for me!  I'll reply if aything changes.

  • Date & time change frequently on startup. antivirus stops working also.

    For the past month the date & time are changed when I start my computer, an HP Pavilion  Elite m9077c with Vista.It doesn't happen everytime, but about 2/3 of the time. I can't download my email until the date is corrected, I get onscreen messeges that Windows media player won't work, & the status of Norton antivirus is frequently changed to "not protected". After restoring the correct date everything seems OK. What is going on? Is this the cms battery going bad , does my computer have a virus?When I run the   Hardware diagnostic tool in the PC help & tools folder I get no indication that the cms battery is bad.

    tk797,
    As the CMOS battery is supposed to retain date and time, and that is the issue, I would replace it.

  • IPhoto Batch Date/Time change Suggestion

    I recently traveled overseas with my family to a time zone that was +4:30 from my current location. During our trip I took 800+ photographs from my digital camera, 60+ from my iPhone and lots of video from my camcorder. It didn't occur to me until I got back home that not only did I not set the digital and camcorder to the local time where I was vacationing but also my digital camera had somehow been set 2-days back but with the correct home time. So it was actually 2days 4hours and 30minutes behind the time that it should have been. My iPhone photographs were fine because I set it to the local time as soon as I landed there.
    Once I synced my camera & phone photographs I realized my problem as my entire vacation was in a jumbled mess. So then I went through the photographs and split the digital camera and iPhone photographs into 2 albums which was not too hard. Thereafter, I went through the digital camera photographs and adjusted the date/time stamp. Some of them I could do in batches, which is not very easy as you need to look at the current date/time stamp, then select the photographs you want to change and then do the math before making the change. The most of it I had to do individually to make sure they wouldn't get jumbled with the iPhone photographs I had taken. So to say the least, to adjust 800+ photographs took a long time and a lot of effort.
    My suggestion is a simple batch change like what is available already, but with the option to advance or regress the date/time stamp letting the system use the current date/time stamp.

    That command is the adjust time/date command - not the batch change command
    Adjust T/D takes a group of selected photos and applies a constant delta to them thereby correcting for camera setting errors or time zone issues
    Also note that this is a user to user support forum not a path to Apple - it is a great plce for questions about how iPhoto works - it is an extremely poor place to make requests for changes since there is no one here who can do that.

  • Can't configure date/Time Change by command in W7

    Hello,
     I need to synchronize all my computers, we got a program who does that (and it works), but not on Windows 7.
     Doing a research I found that is for the administrator privileges. I assume there are two ways for solving my issue.
     1) Launch the command as administrator.
     2) Change the privileges of who can change the date/time.
     About 1), I haven't found nothing of how I can launch it as administrator by program. I know I can do right click and "Launch as administrator" but I need to do it without a mouse and keyboard.
     About 2), I already did this: Edit Group Policy/Local Policy/User Rights Assignment/Change the system Time. And I set it to "All Users". But it doesn't work.Yes, I reboot after changes.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Gustavo,
    If you mean to synchronize time in Windows 7 and assume we are in a domain environment, the first blog shared by britishdhez is a good reference.

  • Date & Time changed when sync

    When I connected my touch to PC, and sync, touch's date & time would change to a early date & time, most of time this would happen.
    Is there anyone knows what happens?
    Thanks!!

    Hello
    this is a common problem with the ipod touch. I have it, and many others on the forum have it. It's nothing to do with the ipod, so restoring it will do nothing.
    some think that it is quicktime, others itunes.
    The only way i have found to stop it is to only plug the ipod in while itunes is closed.
    thanks

  • Iphoto: unwanted date/time change after import

    Two problems:
    First Problem: In October, 2012, scanned a photo into my MacMini in JPEG format.  Creation date 10.12.2012 , Modified date 10.12.2012.  This is OK.
    This is an old family Christmas photo, so I use "touch -t" command through the Terminal application to change Creation and Modified dates to 12.25.1957 at 2PM (1400.00 hours).  Use Finder/Get Info to check date of JPEG file and confirm change of date and time.
    Then, import JPEG file into iPhoto:  iPhoto shows date of JPEG file as 12.25.1957, but time is now 3:34.02PM (1534.02 hours).  Use File/View in Finder to look at iPhoto file and discover that date and time are changed to 12/31/1969 at 7:00 PM (1900.00 hours).  What's going on here?
    Second Problem:  Received a JPEG file by email and moved it to the Desktop.   Creation date and Modifed date of the file are the date and time they were downloaded from email onto my MacMini, which is today: 1/30/2012 at 11:30AM.   Use "touch -t" command through Terminal application to change Creation and Modified dates and times to 10/20/2012 at 6PM (which is when the picture was actually taken). Comfirm change through use of Finder/Get Info  capability.
    Import JPEG file into iPhoto and time gets changed to 7:34PM (date stays 10/20/2012).   Look at File/Reveal in Finder and the dates are still the date and time of the download from email onto my computer.  What gives?
    Iphoto version is 9.4.2.  All system software up-to-date.

    That command is the adjust time/date command - not the batch change command
    Adjust T/D takes a group of selected photos and applies a constant delta to them thereby correcting for camera setting errors or time zone issues

  • Date/time changes in maintenance order

    Hello,
    We are using strategy plans to generate maintenance orders. Is there a way to change the basic start and end date and times of the order? The scheduling type is Forward with time. I want to be able to change the start date to the date of generating the order and the end date as the end of the maintenance cycle. How can this be accomplished?
    I have checked out exit IWO10012 but it does not get called from IP10.
    Thank you,
    Nithya

    Hi,
    I do not want to change the planned date of the maintenance plan, which is what the exit IPRM0002 does. I want to influence the basic start and end date of the order that is generated based on my call horizon.
    Even if I set the initial and subsequent buffer in the maintenance package, both dates still come as the same. How do I change the end date to reflect the end of the maintenance cycle.
    Any pointers anyone?
    Thanks much!

  • Date & Time changing??

    OK, I have had this previously used PB (1.67GHz) for about a year now. Recently, it spontaneously powers down, and when I power it back up, the date and time are switched back to 7:00 PM, Wed, Dec. 31, 1969. There isn't a pattern to this; it seems completely random.
    Any suggestions on why this is happening and how to fix it are welcome and appreciated!
    PowerBook G4~Green iMac G3~Blue iPod mini~Black 30 GB iPod with video~   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    As well as the main battery in your PB, there is another that maintains system data, including something called PRAM (and that carries the data and time). You'll need to replace that battery, sometimes called the backup battery.
    Check out the following two pages:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=11751
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86181
    Which you need depends on the age of your machine.
    Those pages will tell you which battery you need. It's an easy job to replace yourself but an Apple dealer or even a Mom & Pop computer shop will change it for you at reasonable cost.

  • Tracking the Date time changes in DatePicker control using Javascript/JQuery

    I have two date picker controls(Start Date nd End Date) in my SharePoint Calendar list. And I need to calculate the Hour difference on the fly and show it in a text box.
    Can anybody help me to achieve this task using client side scripting?
    Thank You in Advance.
    Juli

    Hi sravankumar1107,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to figure the difference between start date and end date and then you want to place the value in a text box.
    Here is a code snippet for your referecnce:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js">
    </script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function initControl()
    var txtstartDate = $("#" + $("label:contains('Start Time Date')").attr("for")).val();
    var txtstartHour = $("#" + $("label:contains('Start Time Hours')").attr("for")).val();
    var txtstartMinute = $("#" + $("label:contains('Start Time Minutes')").attr("for")).val();
    var txtendDate = $("#" + $("label:contains('End Time Date')").attr("for")).val();
    var txtendHour = $("#" + $("label:contains('End Time Hours')").attr("for")).val();
    var txtendMinutes = $("#" + $("label:contains('End Time Minutes')").attr("for")).val();
    var starttime = new Date(txtstartDate +" "txtstartHour +":"txtstartMinute);
    var endtime = new Date(txtendDate +" "txtendHour +":"txtendMinutes);
    var diff = endtime - starttime;
    var diffSeconds = diff/1000;
    var HH = Math.floor(diffSeconds/3600);
    txtHour.val(HH);
    </script>

  • Can't lock changes in System Preferences and Date & Time goes crazy

    For some reason the items I lock in the System Preferences window become unlocked by itself. I have the password protect on, but it completey ignores it and unlocks the locks at a random time. This happens most frequently with my Time Machine prefs.
    Also my Date & Time changes to whatever time it wants automatically. I have this password locked as well, but the computer seems to have a mind of its own.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Boot with your install disk, launch Disk Utility, select the boot volume, and repair it. Boot back into the boot volume and try again. If you get the same behavior, move the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file to the desktop, log out and back in, and try again. If still no go, try a safe boot and see if it work s properly.

  • Changing date & time under eventlog

    Would like to know how to adjust date & time settings in the eventlog view for my Cisco 1400 bridge. Tx!

    There are two things going on here.
    1. When you change the capture date/time (Date Time Original), the change is immediately reflected in the EXIF portion of the Metadata panel in the Library module. Because this is a metadata change, the warning arrow appears on the thumbnail (if you have that set to show in the View Options)....and clicking on that arrow brings up the "Metadata changed, do you want to save to disk" dialog. Note that this happens when you do any kind of metadata change, not just changing the date/time. At that point you can either decide to write the metadata to disk, or not.....if you typically write your metadata changes to XMP I guess you'd say "Save", but if you don't then just ignore it. Of course if you say "Save" then Lightroom will do as requested and write the Metadata, if it's a DNG,JPEG,TIFF etc, the Metadata is written to the XMP section of the file header....but if it's a proprietary RAW then it's written to an XMP sidecar.
    2. The second thing is that if you have the option set in the Catalog Settings to write date/time changes into proprietary raw files, then the change that you make is reflected in the Raw file.....this is a different change to the XMP update.

  • Changing date/time ...

    I have a question about changing date and time ... thanks a lot in advance.
    I have .CR2 files and I want to change the "date time original" info ... I want to change this info in the raw file, so I clicked on the "write date or time changes to into proprietary raw files" check box in the catalog settings window ... and then, after changing date/time with the "edit capture time", Lightroom wants to save changes and after clicking the arrow on the thumbnail, it creates a sidecar file. If date/time changes is to write directly into raw file (because of catalog settings indicated above), why does Lightroom create sidecar .xmp file?

  • Time Changing in N85

    Hi can anyone help. I have had the N85 for about 3 weeks now and am mostly happy with it. I do have one very annoying thing with it The time changes by itself. It has happened twice now. The first time it was wrong by about 15 minutes.... I put it to the correct time and today I have just noticed that the date has changed also... shows yesterdays date (17th) and the time was wrong by about half an hour... I have not changed it myself... Have put this right now.... has this happended to anyone else? does anyone know what is causing it? I have updated the firmware by the way... did that when I first got it.
    Jane

    Have you set the network time setting to enabled (so that the phone tries to get the time from the mobile network)?
    If so, try disabling it. If not, try enabling it.
    Check also whether you have the latest firmware. If not, consider upgrading:
    http://www.nokia.com/softwareupdate
    If none of that helps, it could also be a hardware fault.

  • Batch edit date & time in PSE 8 Mac/Bridge

    OK, maybe it's jet lag. I uploaded all my vacation photos, and realized I had forgotten to adjust camera date/timezone. I remember that earlier versions of PSE Windows had the ability to batch adjust the date/time shot, but I can't find it in Bridge CS4 or PSE 8 Mac. I really don't want to do it manually for a few hundred photos. Is the capability hiding in there somewhere? thx

    Thanks, Barbara. One of the utilities you mentioned -- PhotoInfo -- does have a very easy batch mode for date/time change. And, of course, so does iPhoto.
    Unfortunately, they both run afoul of another detail: there are multiple date/time stamps stored in a JPG. iPhoto and PhotoInfo both read/write the CreateDate XMP metadata field, but Bridge and PSE appear to base "Date Created" on the value stored in the DateTimeOriginal EXIF field. I haven't tried GraphicConverter yet, nor EXIFtool, which definitely handles all timestamps but is command-line only. I have some tools on the Windows side that I'll try first.
