Uh, that's a lot of info. Try contacting Apple about it, because I don't think anyone here knows how to decifer that.
Also try doing the simple things... Restart your computer and restart System Preferences. What do you need to change in Date & Time anyways...

Reinstalled 10.3.4, now date/time doesn't work or open
I had a hard drive failure, a company replaced my drive with a new one in my G4. The new hard drive works fine, they reinstalled 10.3.4 from my original disks, but the date/time doesn't work and I can't open that panel even.
So I just resinstalled from those disks again and it still didn't fix this problem.
Also my old password for installers doesn't work either, but it lets me bypass it.
Any suggestions?
Should I just try upgrading to Tiger and see if that works?

Not sure what the problem is, however, before you go reinstalling or upgrading try this:
1. Reset PRAM.
2. a. From a cold start, boot from your installer disk holding down the "C" button. Go to the Installer Menu and open Disk Utility.
b. Select your Mac OS X startup disk.
c. Select the First Aid tab in the Disk Utility window.
d. Select Repair Disk button in Main panel. If problems are found run again and again until no problems are reported.
e. Select the Repair Disk Permissions button on the First Aid tab.
f. After Repair Disk Permissions completes, Quit (Command-Q) Disk Utility.
3. Update Software to 10.3.9 (Go to Apple Menu and select Software Update.
Post back after these operations.

Aperture 3.2: renaming based on date/time doesn't work properly
While importing I rename my photos based on the date/time they were taken.
In Aperture 3.1.3 this worked perfectly fine; for photos taken within the same second Aperture added an index number for the second, third etc. photo automatically.
In Aperture 3.2 this doesn't work any longer; Aperture simply doesn't import photo number 2, 3 etc. of that particular one second.
Note: I store the original files outside the aperture library, all run under snow leopard on an iMac i7. And as I said this worked fine under 3.1.

Leonie, here are the details of what I do/experience:
a) Aperture message after import
b) I import pairs and rename them as follows “IMG_{Image Date}_{Image_Time}” (I know all the disadvantages of this but old habits are hard to break… and for me it still works fine)
c) Difference of the images that are imported / not imported is solely the hundredth of the second when they were taken. Of my test series only the first image has been imported:

Doug, after some trial and error I agree with your thoughts, Aperture apparently simply lost its automatic indexes ‘-1’, ‘-2’ etc. and – what is good - doesn’t overwrite the first with the second and the third image... As you suggest there are different options to make the images unique. Most simple would be to add {index #} or {sequence #} or {counter}, all would do and I probably will choose one of them. Or I will downgrade back to 3.1.3 (do have backups) and wait until Apple fixes this.
Kirby, turnoff “Don’t import duplicates” was a good idea but didn’t solve it. But your naming convention actually ensures the uniqueness of the files.

WARNING: Adjust Date & Time doesn't work
I bought Aperture 2.0 because I was thrilled they finally have an adjust date/time feature. The interface is great, but it simply doesn't work.
I was trying to adjust a batch of images by 30 seconds to get it in sync with another camera, however, it ended up adjusting it by 30 minutes!
I was trying to get the time to change from:
1:33:09 PM to
1:32:39 PM
and the image ended up at
1:00:33 PM
Anyone else had a similar problem or a solution for this serious bug?I added my own topic earlier this morning. In my case, it's working just fine if my primary image is RAW and all selected images are also RAW (Canon 300D). It also works just fine if the primary and all selected images are JPEG (from either a Canon S3 or a Panasonic Lumix digicam). However, if the primary image is RAW (Canon 300D) and any selected images are JPEG (anything modified in iPhoto, or originally shot in JPEG from by Canon 300D), all **** breaks loose on those JPEG image dates.
I have some which went back a few months, but most of them jumped forward between 6 months and 2 years.
Again, something is severely broken with this function.
Anyone know how to get the original dates back? Please? I'm setting aside several hours tonight to restore the pre-2.0 backup, export my 2.0-only projects, and import those back in, just forgetting any changes I'd made to historical project files in the meantime. This really *****. -
Adjust Date & Time doesn't stick on export
I have scanned over 2000+ negatives in a Tiff format. I created a temporary iPhoto Library so I could import them in, sort them in albums, and make some edits (crop and straighten). So far so good. I have now for each album adjusted the date and time (I also checked the box for change original file). My next step was to export these albums to folders with the edit pics to the Finder (The reason is to run a photoshop action on all the pics to remove some scan noise and to convert the Tiffs to Jpeg). The once done I was going to import the final pics to my master Library
The problem seams to be that when exporting the pics the changes in dates from within iPhoto are gone. The Finder is showing the scan date not the modified dates....
Any help would be greatly appriciated

As Larry pointed out scanned images are not created with the EXIF data fields. Those must use the file created/modified dates.
I found a way that works for me as far as keeping photos organized chronologically and alphanumerically. I rename them, before importing into iPhoto, with the international date and a brief description as follows: [email protected]. I upload to a folder with the title 04/12/09-Easter @ TH and then drag that folder into the open iPhoto window.
This gives me an Event with the title I want and the files with a file name that can be easily searched or sorted chronologically or alphanumerically. A little work upfront saves a lot of headaches later down the line.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete. -
Clock incorrect, and adjusting in Date & Time doesn't help
I have corrected this in date and time by updating the timezone and even manually setting the clock, but the time displayed by my computer is still based on the GMT timezone for some reason. Thank you for your help.
I'm using Snow Leopard, but I'm assuming it's in the same location. Enter /private/etc in Go>Go to Folder in the Finder menu, then scroll down to localtime.
localtime on mine appears to be an alias to /usr/share/zoneinfo. If I right-click Show Original on the alias localtime, I see that mine is set to New York in the zone America. Your localtime apears to be locked and doesn't allow you to make this change.
So try this, which should unlock localtime. Copy/paste the following command into Terminal in Utilities, then hit return. You will be asked for your admin password, which you won't see anywhere when you type it in, and hit return again.
sudo chflags nouchg /private/etc/localtime
Now try setting the time preference.
If this doesn't do it, one or two more steps may be required. -
Changing meeting date/time doesn't reflects to all atendees
... but everybody gets a mail notification of the change.
We cannot figure out whats happening. We tried to reproduce the problem but we couldn't. Anyway we can see:
a) The owner of the event has his calendar modified
b) Everybody got mail notification of the date change (Some of them accepted the change, some other didn't answered but nobody rejected)
c) Some atendees also have their calendars correctly updated. All of them didn't answered the mail notification.
d) Other don't have their calendars updated. Most of them accepted the change but others didn't answered.
Is this a malfunction??? Are we doing something bad??? Has everybody to accept the change for being actually changed???

I found something more. ALL the calendars well updated have X-S1OC-OUTLOOK-FREEBUSY:2 while ALL the not up-to-date have X-S1OC-OUTLOOK-FREEBUSY:1 I can't figure out exactly whats the meaning of this attribute. �Can it be the point?Perhaps. A little digging internally shows that 1=tentative and 2=busy. This may translate back to an action by the receiver of the confirmation of event change email you were referring to earlier. If the user 'accepted' the change then there was no problem, if they didn't accept, or chose to confirm later then the handling of this may be incorrect.
I should note at this stage that I have a passing knowledge of Outlook Connector -- I don't support it day-to-day.
Worst for me is that getting the differences between atendees appointments also found another problem that users told me sometimes: In some calendars aren't reflected all the atendees. What is more, the organizer and two attendats are the only ones who have all the attendants in the appointment. The other seven dont't have two of them. I found that the three ones OK have this attribute and not the others:This could all be a symptom of the same underlying problem/behaviour.
Just hypothesising here -- if a user didn't 'accept' the change in meeting time it is possible the Outlook Connector created a 'new/duplicate' event as a results which didn't have a lot of the details of the old event details including the correct list of attendees.
Are you able to replicate this behaviour in a small test-scenario e.g.
=> Create an event in outlook connector inviting another person who also uses Outlook Connector.
=> Change the time of the event -- this should hopefully send an event change confirmation email to the other person.
=> Have the person reject (not accept) the change/alternatively accept the change.
=> Compare the results to see if you can reproduce the behaviour/symptoms you mentioned above.

When my Mac has been in sleep mode or shut down, the clock freezes. When logged in the clock runs but on the incorrect time. Date & Time is set to update automatically will only correct when the Date & Time folder is opened from System Preferences. Any ideas how to fix please?
Does anyone know why my mac time always goes backwards by 1-6 hours. I will reset the time and next time I look or turn on the computer it is an incorrect time again.

firefox doesn't open regularly each time, opening is not quueckly, more time opening stopped than restart wothout reason...I don't know, it's a problem of the line or there are a lot of dates on web so opening is slow?

Did up date for 10.7.4 to 10.7.5 and update for Aperture and now Aperture doesn't open. How do I fix?

When I download an attachment, it doesn't open in a new window. It goes to my finder, but I must click on an email attachment at least 3 times in order to find it there. Is there a way to change the preferences to simply open attachment in a new window?

Hp dvd 1040i Disk tray doesn't open half the time
My disk tray is awful to try to open. I press the button, activity light, lights, but the tray doesn't open. Press and hold the button and the same thing happens. I have to go into Windows Explorer (XP sp3) and right click the drive and select "eject" to get the disk tray open. About 10% of the time the button described above does work, 90% not.
I noticed in my device manager the drive is described as "HP DVD WRITER 1040d". Did I get the wrong driver with this drive? I cannot find any DVD support on the HP site.I wanted to add that the "pin method" of opening the drive is also requires multiple tries and seems no more successful overall than just pushing the button repeatedly. I actually have the best luck getting them to open by applying leverage with the tip of a knife as I push the button.

The content of the Share menu will depend on the file format. For PDFs the menu will be nearly empty and iPhoto and aperture are missing.

ICal doesn't open files (my own music files) when an event's time arrives.
Hi apple community, I have a problem. I use to remember things by creating events in iCal with a music file added, but now I can´t, I have updated my iMac to Mavericks and iCal only remembers me an event but doesn't open the songs (with iTunes). (Some times I use events with music files to wake me up jejeje). How can I solve it? Thanks.
I'd like to comment too here. I used to wake up all the time to music played in iCal, and before 10.8, I also used Applescript iCal events (all of this on my late 2011 Macbook Pro) in place of automator workflows. Since updating, my alarms simply haven't gone off, iCal not opening iTunes the way it should. I would be eager to find a solution.

I have been unable to Open Date & Time for several weeks now despite many attempts, rebootings and re-attempts. I get a "System Preferences has quit unexpectedly" message. It wasn't much of an issue when the time was correct, but the clock has recently reverted to December 31, 1969 and goes back to that date with each reboot. I have to hit a Continue button every time I go to a new website in Firefox (Safari no longer works) due to the time issue, and I can't purchase anything in iTunes.

One thing to try is to go to Disk Utility (in the Utilities folder) and verify and repair if necessary both permissions and the disk. If the start up disk needs repair, you will need to use the Disk Utility on one of the gray original discs that came with your computer. While you have the original discs out, you might try running the Apple Hardware test and see if anything shows up.
It also could be that your OS has become corrupted. If this is the case, you will need to reinstall it. But be sure and back up all your data before taking this step.
