Date/time info

Previous versions of PSE have displayed the date/time info for each image in the organiser.  PSE 11 doesn't do this.  Does anyone know where I can change settings so that it does - this info is very usefu to me.

  • Showing Title and date/time info in exported file

I am trying to export a group of photos into a file to then compress and e mail. How do I get the title and date/time info for each photo to export as well and be a part of the file?

You'll need to upgrade to iPhoto 08 or later to write that metadata to the file on export.

    Hi,
i need to save date/time info (Date:Time) into one .lvm together with my other signals (dynamic data). any suggestions?
it should look like this for example
    results.lvm:
    date/time signal 1 signal 2 signal 3
    01.01.2005/12:00 2.2 3.3 4.4
    01.01.2005/12:02 2.4 3.4 4.5

The LVM Express VI was designed to be easy to used. To facilitate this, data formats are fixed and cannot be set by the user in the Express VI. You have several options to get the format you want.
If you don't need all the header information in the LVM file, roll your own code. If you are only saving one line of code at a time, this is particularly easy. You will also need to write your own read code, assuming you are not just using Excel or something similar.
Use the formatting capabilities of your analysis program to create the date code. Excel, for example, is perfectly happy to generate a time/date string based on a simple number. You may have to convert from LabVIEW absolute time to Excel absolute time, but that is fairly trivial. You can make a macro to do this.
If you need the LVM header info, write the file using no data to get the header, then fill in your data with your own formatting. Read-back will be harder, since you will need to write that yourself. However, you can probably get most of the info from the LVM file read (maybe with an error), then read your own formatted data from the end of the file.
WARNING: this one dives into vi.lib code. While you cannot change the formatting in the top level of an LVM file, the subroutines do take formats on a per-column basis. So, you can modify the original code to do what you want. Open the front panel, then search for ex_SignalsToSprdsheetStr.vi. Give it the format string you want and you are off. Note that this format will be in place everywhere you use the LVM code unless you save the entire hierarchy to a different location (using Save With Options->Development Distribution, include vi.lib files). Be very careful with this. You can easily get into cross-linking problems (linking VIs from the wrong location).
One final comment. You can find the specification for the LVM file format in Specification for the LabVIEW Measurement File (.lvm), Version 1.0. It includes everything you didn't want to know about the LVM file format.

  • Differences in Date/Time info between FCP 7 and FCP X?

Please bear with me as I have hardly touched FCP 7 in the past 2 years, so most of what little I knew has now been forgotten!
Yesterday I captured an old 2002 Mini-DV PAL tape into FCP X.
    The tape consisted of:-
    1. Some original clips as they were shot.
    2. Projects (edited in iMovie 2) using those clips, which had then been exported back onto the tape.
As expected, FCP X recognised the embedded info on the original clips and separated them together with details of their date and time.
What really surprised me was that the edited videos were also broken down into their original clips, complete with date and time.
This latter point would have been great except for one thing  .  .  .  .  FCP X automatically arranged all the clips on the tape in order of their original shooting time and date.
This meant that all the projects were separated into their component clips and these were put alongside the original clips, thus mixing them up.
Furthermore, as you know, the clips in a project rarely appear in chronological order, so by separating them chronologically the projects were even more mixed up!!!!!!!  The projects have  effectively been turned into a jigsaw puzzle.
To get round this problem, I have just recaptured the tape in one take in FCP 7 which thankfully kept everything in the  correct order.
    Now here is the question:-
Is it possible, after using DV Start/Stop Detect and Make Subclip to find the original date and time it was shot?
You see how much I have forgotten.
Yet another peculiarity, is that whilst DV Start/Stop Detect can separate out the original clips that were shot, unlike FCP X it just recognises each project as a single clip.

    Thanks for the response Michael.
Shortly after posting, fragments of my memory returned and I also remembered that FootTrack does a similar job.
As mentioned above, FCP X does very much the same and also does it excellently.
The only reason it didn't suit my tapes was because, unusually, I had put up to 3 or 4 versions of finished projects (containing the same basic clips)  on the same tape, which meant that after capturing a tape in one go, I ended up with  hundreds of clips containing up to 3 or 4 sets of identical clips jumbled up in a frightening video jigsaw.
Normally, FCP X is excellent but due to my peculiar use of old tapes, it fell down.
There would have been no problem if it had provided  multiple identical clip names if it had kept them in the order they were on the tape and not insisted on automatically re-arranging them.
Given time, I could have sorted them but simply recapturing, though a lengthy process, was much quicker and sanity saving.

  • Date Time Info - New Camcorder Advice

Can anyone tell me if there is a newer camcorder (HDD or flash based) which will import into iMovie and retain the date and time that the video was shot? With miniDV camcorder, events are correctly listed based on the time the video was taken, however with DVD camcorder (wife wanted this piece of junk) the date and time are when imported not when taken. I would like to buy a new camera and don't want to have the same hassle with a new one - Any advise.

afaik, ANY camcorder except these DVDcorder-thingies transfer the timestamp to iMovie
consider to purchase iLife09, which offers, aside tons of other useful effects, a very conveninient manual change of timestamps in iMovie..

  • MISSING: Time, Date, Battery Info

Since the new update, the Time, Date, Battery Info, etc that is normally in the top right hand corner toolbar is gone.
Going into system preferences to click the box for time doesn't work, because it is checked.

I am using a Panasonic  HDC TM 300.
I have tried copying the individual .mts files and copying the entire folder structur. Neither of these show the EXIF info in the PPro cs 4 metadata (EXIF section).
As I said the date/time info etc  shows up in  Adobe Bridge.
Am I missing something or is this a problem with PPro cs 4??

  • Date & Time in menu bar not updating

My "Date & time" info in the top right menubar does not "run": it only updates to the current time when I click it.
I have it set as digital showing seconds but it just doesn't run, it's stuck on the last date/time I updated by clicking it.
    I never had this before
I use MacPro with Mac OS Lion 10.7.5
    Any reason?

@straycatcn, you're not the only one, no. I just starting having the same problem recently, and I'm not yet certain how to fix it. There are no errors that I can find in the console logs, and a reboot doesn't seem to fix the issue. Have you come up with a cause and/or solution?

  • TS3297 I find the instructions to use automatic date/time in ts3297 to be totally unacceptable.

I do things on my MBP (software builds) that REQUIRE consistent timestamps. I also travel extensively, which frequently results in "going backwards in time' (flying east to west). Updating date/time automatically causes total confusion for my builds, among other things.
I haven't debugged (yet) the same error message on my iPhone 4 which _does_ have 'automatic date/time' set.
My iPhone 4S and original iPad seem to work just fine. The 4S has automatic date/time, original iPad has manual date/time.
All ios devices are 5.1.1, MBP is Mountain Lion. In other words, no software updates required for any device.
The interesting thing, it's only updates.... Now that _does_ require date/time info, but I would expect to see 'no updates found', not 'unable to connect'.

Okay, checked the iPhone 4 debug steps.
Not my ISP, I can press 'featured' in the App Store and see what's up. Safari works, etc.
Doesn't matter whether connection is Wi-fi or 3g, fails.
Powered down/up, no change. Switched from automatic to manual and back, no change.
Went back to MBP, the OSX app store works just fine. It found I needed to update iTunes on my MBP. We'll see what happens after that. Can't expect it to solve my iPhone 4 issue, though.
Download time for iTunes update is 35+ minutes (hotel connection). I'll be back.....

  • JPEG 'Date&Time' is lost when files transfered

    Hi
This is really annoying - can anyone help pls? I take photos on camera and download into iPhoto. Friends give me their photos too etc. iPhoto orders these correctly by date (when the photo was taken), regardless of the file name (DSC0097 etc) as there can be many different file labels, depending on he source. However, when you copy the file to a new folder, eg to external hard disk, the file loses the original Date/time info. The 'Date Modified' or 'Date Created' of the new file is simply the date of tranfer of this new file. How can you ensure the original date and time information is retained?
    thanks

    RichardCooke
iPhoto gets the date and time of the Photo from the Exif metadata that is part of the Photo’s File. When you export to the Finder the file is arranged by the File data, because the Finder is not saavy to the Exif. However, open the exported file in a photo app and you will see the date and time are correct.
Organisation in the Finder is alpha-numeric. So one way to duplicate the listing is to batch the titles of the photos using Photo -> Batch Change command. Give the pics consecutive numbers and export from iPhoto using the File -> Export command. Set the Filename to Title.

  • Date/Time Stamp Display

When watching my movies I almost always wonder "when was this shot"?
One of the things I miss the most about burning my videos to DVD instead of playing them from the tape is the ability to push a button, see the date/time stamp on the screen and then push it again to make it go away.
I know this is a long shot, but is there anyway to get similar functionality in iMovie & iDVD?
Right now I am playing with putting a title at the beginning of every clip in the movie with the date info and that is A LOT of work. Still it won't help me when I am viewing the middle of the clip.
If there is no way to get the date/time stamp to appear/disappear during playback by pushing a button, is there at least a way that a title can get the date/time info for me? Maybe some variable I can type in the title (i.e.:%DATETIME%)? That would at least save me a couple steps.
Or is there a plug-in that does something along those lines?
I think that would be a great feature if they don't have it already (and not to hard I would think).
    Thanks

    17" iSight iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Hi Tj
I've wrestled with this problem ever since VHS went out of style. The old VHS would pick it up and you couldn't get rid of it. Digital got rid of it when transferred to imovie. My Sony camera can show it or remove it on it's own remote screen. I found the best way to keep track of the time stamp is when I'm done with a tape is to review it and create a data base on a hard copy. It's a hard habit to get into but once it's done it saves a ton of time. I physically number the cassette and use categories in a columnar format: NO., REAL TIME, EVENT, DESCRIPTION, COMMENT DATE, YEAR. Being a data base document I can arrange in any order I want.
There are other advantages. By reviewing and entering the information it stays fresh in my mind. I can also add comments like: Add music and effects to this clip.
Gee Three/slick has numerous titles of with some look like time stamps or you can create you own directly onto the clip. There is no need for a separate (title over black) title.
Part of the fun in editing is picking the title, what font to use and be able to dazzle your viewers with special affects. Slick has one called Far far away from the Star Wars movies where the titles slowly disappear into the distance.

  • Do HDV or AVCHD keep track of Date/Time like miniDV?

Do HDV and AVCHD have the time and date stored like miniDV does? I've done some searching and read through the HDV article on wikipedia and don't see this mentioned.
    Thanks.

Anyone with any more info on this? According to what Tominlowa says it looks like the date/time info is stored on the AVCHD camera either in the video file or accompanying index files. I wonder how this works with HDV? Maybe I should be keeping manual logs when I shoot footage so years from now I will know what the date of my footage is.
    Thanks.

  • How can I edit my EXIF Date info without changing Time info?

I recently went on a shoot with three cameras, one of which was set at the wrong date (sometime in 2012). I now want to correct all the date stamps on the photos taken by the camera with the bad date settings but am finding this next to impossible to do quickly - I have 416 incorrectly dated photos.
In iPhoto '06 you could go to Photos - Batch Change and a dialogue would pop up with separate Date and Time boxes; I am using iPhoto '08 which has merged these two fields into one, meaning I now lose the correct Time of Day EXIF metadata for each photo I try to change the incorrect Date EXIF metadata on.
I have googled for a separate app to do this, but none do this - they all seem to change everything in one go.
How can I fix my problem and change only the Date info while keeping the existing Time info in a Batch process?

Like I say it's a while since I used 08, but I can certainly roll back 365 or even 400 days on iPhoto 11, without changing the time using the adjust date and time command.
Aperture uses exactly the same mechanism.
It's even longer since I used iPhoto 6.
I did a quick google search and found this:
    http://joemaller.com/970/date-shifting-in-iphoto-08/
This shows exactly the same process as iPhoto 09, 11 and Aperture, and exactly what I can use to time shift a group of photographs.
I don't think that the 08 apps were "dumbed down" at all. If I recall correctly, iPhoto gained lossless editing at that point - a very significant enhancement, and no, I don't think there was any effort to push people to change to more expensive products. IIRC every version of iPhoto since then has been less expensive. Apple did do a major rewrite of iMovie at the point, but left iMovie6 available for free as a download for two years. iMovie 11, though a very different interface, has long since overtaken iMovie 6 in capability.

  • How do i show date and time info of videos in Iphone as they appeare before import in iPhoto?

How do i show date and time info of videos in Iphone as they appeare before import in iPhoto? or even as they appear on the iPhone itself? The selection on tool bar for show info is greyed out.

Welcome T G Brown to the  iMovie boards..
the socalled timestamp is within the imports.. if you select a clip in iM and hit the key combo Apple-I, you can see recording time and date.
unfortunately, this info isn't delivered to any software. Bruce Gee (geethree.com, excellent plug-in maker) told us, there's no 'API' he could use for such a feature...
same on the pro side, read this discussion at the FinalCutExpress boards:

Forum member Ian offers a solution with a 3rd party app ....

  • Am I able to see the date/time an app was installed or deleted? I know your able to see purchased apps but what about free app info?

Ok, so I know if you go into Itunes and go to purchase history/ apps you can see the apps that have been downloaded in the past. What I want to know is if there is a way I can see the exact date/time the apps were downloaded/deleted.

Why can you not buy from the ipod?
    What happens when you try?
    Error message?
    What does it say?
