Date & time problems after new year

Hi,
First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
After the new year my date and time is always changing to a date in the year 1969. I do reset it whenever I turn my pb on. But it always goes back when I turn it off. What could be the reason?

Hi, zoha. Your internal PRAM battery is dead and needs to be replaced. It's just coincidental that it happened to die at the end of the year.

  • 'New' Exchange Battery not holding charge - Date & Time problems

    I recently received a 'new' exchange battery for my 2001 500mhz white ibook (OSX 10.3.9, 320ram), as part of the Battery Exchange program, and now I'm having some new problems.
    Since I started using the battery a few weeks ago, I've been having constant problems with the Date & Time reseting itself to 1969. I reset to current time, but when I turn on again, it's resets back again. Also, this battery is not holding a charge very well, lasting only about 40 minutes after fully charged (My old battery lasted 2 hours).
    I calibrated the battery when i first received it, and I've reset the PMU twice, but no luck.
    Thanks in advance for any help & advice....

    Is there any such program for the G3s?
    Only if you replaced your original battery with one from Apple within a certain time frame and within a specific range of serial numbers. Check out the details here:

  • Solution - Date Time Windows 8 showing year 9999

    Hi All
    I just installed Windows 8 on a brand new 2012 mac mini i5 using the latest bootcamp 5.
    After booting in to Window, I saw that the date was incorrect and set to the year 9999.
    This prevented Windows Update from working, caused issues with SSL certificates not being valid, and resulted in errors when syncing the date/time from the various time servers available in Windows.
    When I rebooted from Windows back in to Mountain Lion, the default auto time sync would result in the correct time being shown.
    If I disabled the auto time sync in Mountain Lion, then booted in to Windows 8, corrected the time in Windows, then booted back to Mountain Lion, the date/time in Mountain Lion would be broken.
    Anyway, it turns out the issue is due to a bad registry value in Windows 8.
    Windows 8 had some crazy value for "ActiveTimeBias" under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation] that was essentially adding a 1000s of years etc on to the Date/Time displayed.
    The solution for me was to reset all the *Bias values back to 0.
    "StandardBias"=dword:00000000
    "DaylightBias"=dword:00000000
    "ActiveTimeBias"=dword:00000000
    Once Windows rebooted, the time showed the correct year.  It was then just a matter of resetting the timezone location in Windows so that the StandardBias / DaylightBias values got configured correctly.  ActiveTimeBias stayed at 0.
    Anyway, hope this helps someone.

    Hello,
    I am having the exact same problem with my iMac. The year keeps changing back to 9999. I'm not sure how you "reset all the bias back to 0" as per your post. Below is a screenshot of my registry fo time zone. If I double-click each of the items cited in your post, I acn only change a portion of them. For example, for ActiveTimeBias I can change the "12c" from my entry. Standard Bias is already  and DaylightBias has a long number that matches exactly what I have in the registry of my laptop.
    Could you please provide further instruction on how to resolve this?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Problem with New Year & My Clock--shows wrong year

    Hi, anyone else having this issue? I just checked my world clock on my iphone, as I have contacts all over the world. It all looks right except for Japan, which of course is many hours ahead of me in the EST of the USA. For London, Paris, NYC, etc. the time is right but now (at 11:26am) for Tokyo, Japan the clock says "1:27AM on 07/12/31".
    Since Japan is already in 2008 as I'm writing the message It seems related to the difference in years. I hope this will correct itself when we reach 2008.

    I have Sydney, Australia in my world clock, and i have the same problem. I hope it doesn't do this when it becomes the new year in Chicago.
    When I first got my iphone, i called somebody and in my recent calls it said "Name 12/26/31" which i thought was weird... and every time i called anybody else the one with the funky year would stay on top.. then i cleared my recent calls and it was all back to normal... Maybe this has to do with the weird world clock dates....

  • Gremlins Strike After New Year

    Well, Y2K came almost a decade late but it seems that the new year has brought some new gremlins to my previously acceptable 7216 DVR as well as my non-dvr STB. The DVR no longer does basic functions like pause or rewind on "live" programs - if I can make it pause after repeated button presses, there is no saved content to rewind through (it jumps ahead to real time). There are also lip-synch issues for the first time ever. Multiple hard reboots have limited effect as the symptoms sometimes manifest, and sometimes don't. Also, I had to do a hard reboot on the non-DVR HD STB for the first time ever since the TV display said "no signal". As stated, I never had problems like this, mostly because I faithfully do a hard reboot twice a week. Now it doesn't seem to matter. I wonder if the new year (leap year?)  messed up the software? Not being an engineer, this is very frustrating and I truly believe these hardware issues (see this forum)  to be the Achilles heel for Verizon FIOS. Verizon must rectify the hardware reliability factor soon.  Thank you.

    Try getting Tech Support to do a reset on your equipment.  That may resolve the issues you're having.  I was experiencing some problems that a hard reboot no longer fixed (although it had on previous occasions).  After they did the reset, the problem I called about as well as several other minor issues I was having, were all fixed (for now anyway).  I also have lip-sync problems (written about in another thread.  It's a recurring problem that gets worse with time.)  A reset from Verizon always greatly improves this, although it doesn't outright fix it.  (Lots of speculation about whose fault this problem is and most fingers point back to the broadcasters.  My thought on this is if they were actually the cause, why doesn't everyone experience this problem and why does the reset improve the sync???)  So, calling in for a reset might be worth a try.  (Maybe they ran a gremlin elimination program along with the reset?!?!)

  • Frustrating date/time settings, (have new battery)

    Hi,
    I have a G5 and notice the date and time settings change while my computer is in sleep mode. It is usually hours behind the real clock, or it is set to a competely new year or date. I replaced the internal battery yesterday, and that did not fix the problem. I zapped the PRAM this morning and this doesn't seem to have helped either.
    Any one got any suggestions?

    Hi
    I expect you've checked already, but presumably the following settings are still correct:
    System Preferences - International - Formats
    System Preferences - Date & Time - Date & Time
    System Preferences - Date & Time - Time Zone
    I guess it's possible you're using a UK date format etc where the day and month are reversed, or syncing with a remote clock in the wrong time zone.
    I could be wrong, but I didn't think the PRAM battery was used in sleep mode, so I'm wondering whether it's resyncing on wake up with a remote clock somewhere on a LAN or the internet that's set to a different time. My date and time is set automatically from Apple Europe (time.euro.apple.com).

  • Date/Time Problem Results In Spinning Wheel

    My mom's eMac recently was shutdown during a power outage, and came back with the date/time reset problem (I'm familiar with this when my battery comes loose on my iBook).
    Only problem is, if I try to launch System Preference or Open Date & Time I get the spinning wheel that doesn't allow me to reset the date/time. On top of that, I can't seem to get anything to launch right now b/c it seems Finder is what's getting the spinning wheel. The only thing that launches is AIM (which is on autolaunch), but it can't be accessed at all from the computer (though it does show up as signed on when I'm signed on to AIM at work).
    I've tried a force quit to relaunch finder with no results, and have also blasted the PRAM and tried the instructions for resetting the PMU (if I'm doing that right).
    One thing I can across is the possibility I need to replace the internal backup battery. Could that be the problem, or have I run into soemthing much more serious.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello! A power outage often damages the disk's directory information. Boot from the install disc ("c" key down at startup with disc inserted) and right after the language screen navigate through the drop down menus to the disk utility and repair the disc. Run the repair multiple times if it reports errors until it doesn't report errors. Tom

  • Insert current date/time problem in ViewObject

    Hi!
    I'm trying to setAttribute to a Date type field.
    I have a method:
    public String getCurrDateString() throws ParseException, java.sql.SQLException {
    SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat ("dd-MMM-yyyy hh:mm:ss aa");
    Date currentTime_1 = new Date();
    return formatter.format(currentTime_1);
    All the time i call this method such as:
    HistoryViewImpl histVO=getHistoryView();
    Row r=histVO.createRow();
    r.setAttribute("Entrydatetime",cp.getCurrDateString());
    I get oracle.jbo.domain.DataCreationException: JBO-25009: Cannot create an object of type:oracle.jbo.domain.Date with value:19-Jun-2002 10:14:33 AM
    the strange thing is, that Oracle recognizes this kind of format, because if I use different pattern such as "yyyy-MM-dd", which returns string "2002-06-19", r.setAttribute("Entrydatetime",cp.getCurrDateString()) method works fine and in Oracle table field we have inserted value 19-Jun-2002 12:00:00 PM. The problem is, that i don't need 12:00:00 PM as a time, i need current time.
    What am i doing wrong? Or does it mean that oracle.jbo.domain.Date doesn't know format "dd-MMM-yyyy hh:mm:ss aa"?

    If you have to pass in string, then establish a Formatter on the attribute with appropriate date format and then use the AttributeHints interface from the relevant AttributeDef object on the row to parse the input String into a valid parsed object that you can set into the row.
    (See oracle.jbo.uicli.binding.JUCtrlValueBinding.setAttributeInRow() method for a complete usage - source in bc4j\src\bc4juisrc.zip)

  • Date & Time Problems

    I'm having a frustrating problem with the MacBook. I like to have the time showing in the menu bar and have checked the "show Date & Time" box in the system preferences (even clicked the lock to prevent changes), but every few restarts of the computer, the date and time disappears and I have to go back into system preferences and add it again! This has been going on for months and is driving me up the wall! Has anyone had a similar problem and know how to fix it?
    I've tried reparing the permissions as well as resetting the PRAMs, but nothing has seemed to work yet.
    Cheers,
    Candice

    Thanks for the advice.. it's a little tough to tell, because it comes and goes after a fair number of restarts... sometimes I set it to show in the menu and one restart later it's gone, sometimes it takes 5 - 10 restarts before I find that it's disappeared again. If I start up in safe mode, will something get fixed and can start up normally for future starts?
    I have two user accounts on the computer and the problem is there for both. I've turned date and time on for both accounts.
    Cheers,
    Candice

  • MSI GT680 turbo/battery problem after new motherboard

    so basically my dc power jack burnt out some components on the previous motherboard (dunno why the dc power jack is connected with the motherboard as you have to open everything up to get to it, kinda stupid imo) so i got a new one and put it in but the laptop wasn't turning on...long story short i gave it to a professional who said that those little strip connectors that connect so many components were damaged and he had to replace them and the laptop worked fine...today i took it off charge for the first time and after a few mins on battery it shut off suddenly even though battery was 100% and there is no indication by the system that is indeed damaged (i contacted the repair guy and he said its probably a faulty battery) and other then that when i turn turbo on, it comes on for about 5 seconds before automatically turning itself off...i've no idea what the problem could be; any suggestions?
    could it be that i need to update my bios? (currently E16F2IMS Ver:1.0M)
    thanks in advance
    p.s on the msi gt680 support page the new bios and ec only have the non win8 version; can't i flash them to my windows 8?

    Quote from: darkhawk on 02-October-13, 20:04:01
    It does kind of sound like the battery is bad, or else some of the electronics around the battery are.
    As far as the BIOS, the 'Win8' and 'Non-Win8' bio's are only in regards to what OS ORIGINALLY came installed on the system. The GT68X series weren't being sold with Windows 8 pre-installed I believe. I would just install the Non-Win8 BIOS's as it shouldn't make any difference for your system.
    well the turbo button issue was cos of the new nvidia drivers, just rolled em back and its ok...and ohhh thanks for that ill try flashing them and see if it makes a difference

  • SQL date query problem with century/ year

    We have an oracle database with about 6 million records. There is a date field called Entered Date that ranges from 1985 to the present.
    The majority of these records were entered prior to Jan 1 2000.
    If I run a query like
    select count(*) from (tablename) where entered_date < '01-JAN-00' I get 0
    if I do
    select count(*) from (tablename) where entered_date < '31-DEC-99' I get 0
    BUT IF I DO
    select count(*) from (tablename) where entered_date < '01-JAN-00' I get 6 million records
    or
    select count(*) from TREASURY.ctrc where entrydate > '31-DEC-99' I get 6 million records
    I've tried the same queries using 4 digit years but get the same results; it thinks that 2000 is the less than 1999
    How do I get around this?
    thanks

    Hi,
    975204 wrote:
    there are 6 million records on the table
    about two thirds have a date prior to Jan 1 , 2000How do you know that? From knowledge of the application, you may know that two thirds of them are supposed to have dates prior to 2000, but if
    SELECT  COUNT (*)
    FROM      TABLE_NAME
    WHERE      ENTRYDATE < TO_DATE ( '01-JAN-2000'
                           , 'DD-MON-YYYY'
    ;returns 0, that's pretty strong proof that none of them actually do.
    When I look at the dates , they display as 31-DEC-86Another example of why using 2-digit years is such a bad idea.
    I cant actually provide dump of this clients confidential dataSeriously; you can't provide one DUMP output? You've already said that it displays as 31-DEC-86, so even if the fact that 1 entry in the 6-million row table was done on December 31, 1986 was such a big secret, it's already out, and you won't be causing any more harm by showing the DUMP results.
    I ran the query with the same format as the date ie
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TREASURY.CTRC WHERE ENTRYDATE < TO_DATE ( '31-DEC-99'
    , 'DD-MON-YY'
    but same results
    if the column is defined as a DATE type, does Oracle make a distinction based on how the data displays, meaning does it think that 31-DEC-86 is different than 31-DEC-1986?No, all DATE columns have the same format. A DATE may be displayed one way of the other, but it is stored as neither.
    Do I need to convert all the data to a 4 digit year? You should always display dates with a 4-digit year.
    Run an update query that says if year >= 80 and <= 99 add 19 in front of the year, else add 20 in front of the yearLet's find out exactly what the problem is, first.
    Did you see Ascheffer's message? ^1^ It was dated just a couple of minutes before your last message, so you might not have noticed it. Run it to see what the actual 4-digit years are.
    If it shows, for example, that there are a lot of entrydates in the years 2080 to 2099, and you decide that all of those really should be 100 years earlier, then use ADD_MONTHS to correct them:
    UPDATE     table_name
    SET     entrydate = ADD_MONTHS ( entrydate
                               , -100 * 12
    WHERE   entrydate >= TO_DATE ( '01-JAN-2080'
                             , 'DD-MON-YYYY'
    AND     entrydate <  TO_DATE ( '01-JAN-2100'
                             , 'DD-MON-YYYY'
    ;Edited by: Frank Kulash on Mar 15, 2013 6:09 PM
    ^1^ Obviously, you did see Ascheffer's message; I was still typing the message above when you posted another one.

  • Date & Time Wrong after iTunes Sync

    I could swear I saw something about this in a thread, but couldn't find it after searching.
    I don't recall this happening before today (might have and I just didn't notice) but when I sync with iTunes now, it changes the date and time on the touch to some date/time in 2005.

    Happened again tonight. Each time I pulled the USB and reconnected, it synced to a different date and time. What appeared to work (although this is based on a sample size of 1) was to exit iTunes, then disconnect/reconnect the touch, then relaunch iTunes. Date/Time corrected on subsequent sync.
