Date wise planning

Hi,
How can i do date wise planning for quantity of a perticular activity. i.e, a activity called excavation is attchched to a WBS, its total qty is 500m3, i have given basic start and finish date for it. but how can i do date wise planning for qty for it?

u can use Stastistical key figure planning.
1- create a statistical key fig group and enter that in ur planning profile (OPSB)
2- go to CJ40 and select the period and wbs ( extra->detailed planning->statistical planning)
here u can do planning for month wise also.
similarly after completion of the excavation, u can do actual posting also. (KB31N)

Shift wise planning and scheduling

Dear All,
Here we have a scenario in which we have to do shift wise planning and scheduling.
The shift is not fixed.
It can be 1 shift on particular day and it might be 2 shifts another day. They will plan for this many hours per day for future.
The scheduling should be done for this many hours which inturn is as many shifts. The working hours per day is not fixed as well. It totally depends on the requirement. So the planning and scheduling should happen based on hour basis and will be different for each day. I need your inputs for mapping this scenario.

You have not given any meaningful requirements, therefore it is impossible for me to make suggestions. What you have said so far implies total randomness. If all the events are random, there is no planning, only tracking.
Exactly what do you mean when you say 'planning'? Material planning in ERP does not consider shift sequences/timings/schedules. Capacity planning, where work schedules are managed, does consider shift type data, but only takes place only after the orders have been established.
Scheduling is done based on Work Centers. A work center can represent one or more machines, one or more people, or a combination of the two. Work centers can have shifts. The number of shifts can vary over time. The shifts can have various working schedules. The shift working schedules can vary over time.
I suggest that you describe a single specific scenario you would like to discuss. Perhaps then the forum can offer some suggestions.

MB5B Report table for Open and Closing stock on date wise

Hi Frds,
I am trying get values of Open and Closing stock on date wise form the Table MARD and MBEW -Material Valuation but it does not match with MB5B reports,
Could anyone suggest correct table to fetch the values Open and Closing stock on date wise for MB5B reports.

Date Wise and Storage Location Wise Stock Qty & Value Report......

Hi Experts,
We want a report Date Wise(As on 31.03.2008) and Storage Location Wise Quantity & Value Report for only Finish Materials. Is there any report ?
From Mb5b we canot get storage location wise report as we get only plant level qty and value.

Try the Tcode: MC.9 there enter the site and article and executeYou will get details of the article
stock, value. if you double click the article you will get the details of storage location.

MB5B Report for Date Wise Stock and Value

Hi,
I am Taking MB5B Report for Date Wise Stock and Value.
But I have one doubt all stocks is coming or not in these report like Unrestrected Stock,Return Stock.Blocked stock,Transist stock,Restrected Stock,qty Inspection Stock.
I have another Doubt in these report three Stock type indicaters are there like these.
1.Storage Location / Batch Stock
2.valuated Stock
3.Special Stock.
But i have one doubt what is defferent these

Yes MB5B report consider the Unrestricted, Quality, Blocked, Transit stock and restricted stock. Not sure about Return Stock.
If you select the Storage location/Batch stock radio button then the system will display all the possible stock from the storage location and the corresponding batch also.
If you select Valuated stock radio button then system will show only the valuated stock not the Non-valuated stock. Because Non-valuated material type is available in SAP system will not show those stock suppose if you select the Valuated stock radio button.

Open Date-wise G/L selection

What is the table for selection of G/L Account line item for open items date-wise, I took BSIS table but when i select data for particular date(BUDAT) in my report the amount is mismatch to T_code(fbl3n).
If i want to select the back date data then defiantly that data was cleared as today date and will not found in BSIS table, so please can you help me how to get data for date-wise.
Coz my client want if he select the particular date then what ever unclear (open) item data as on selected date is display.

Please check the following logic.
e.g.
Posting date : 01.08.2010
Clearing Date : > or = to 01.08.2010.
Put the above logic in the program, so that it'll fetch the open records which are on back date.

Unable to copy data in planning

Hi Gurus,
I am unable to copy data using "copy data" in planning web application.
getting an error "MSG_COPY_DATA_OPTIONS_FAILED: An error occurred while running the specified calc script. Check the log for details."
here are the steps I checked:
I checked whether planning and essbase are in sync.
The DBA team says that there was no spikes in memory.
when I take small data set it see data in target but the status in Job Console says processing for the past 45 min.
I was copying only one month of data.
please help.

I see you must of read the two Oracle Support articles by what you wrote in your post.
Have you checked the essbase app log? also it sometimes help to restart the planning web app when it happens.
Also have a read of Re: Where is the calc script created when running the 'Copy Data' function ?

Excel upload data to planning book not working

Hello Gurus,
i have checked the online resources first before posting this thread here as this is most old topic relating to upload of excel data to planning book key figures.
Here is what i have done so far
1) from the planning book, i chose a view and downloaded the file to desktop and saved it as CSV. i populated the key figure values and saved the csv file as-is back to desktop
2) i had to remove the hdeader from the file as APO threw back an error that it could not interpret the period (header) as the number
3) when i took out the header i simply pasted the values and the file was ok
4) i went to planning book, loaded the file, checked the file and it said that the data was read and i clicked on upload the file
5) everything was green, then but i do not see the values in the grid of the planning book
what else i'm missing.
can someone please help me

Hello DB and Ada. Thank you for your valuable suggestions. I know i might be missing something silly here. If i keep the header that i downloaded from the planning book into csv file, i get an error while uploading the file back to planning book that unable to interpret 11/2014 as a number.
P11/2014 is the header, Period 11/2014 is the fiscal period. we plan in fiscal periods.
if i take out the header from the csv file and just populate the key figure values, then i do not get any error when i load the file back to planning book, but then the values do not show up in the planning book grid.
i'm keeping the planning book in the change mode while uploading the file as i got that error saying that i need to keep the planning book in change mode for the file to load data properly to planning book.

How to Get the Current data into Planning Layout from the Planning cube

Hi,
I have a problem in BPS.   I am selecting the data from cube based on Month org details but I want to see the latest data.   How can i get this data into planning cube.
Like

if i want to read based on Tran org as input values I shoud get the below data but I am getting the previous data.

Naveen,
    Are yo having issue when you save something in the layout, the data doesn't appear in the listcube ? Or do you have issue that the latest data you see in the cube doesn't appear in the layout ?
For the former issue, please look at your selections of listcube and for the second issue, please check your planning level definition, make sure all the restrictions you have applied are valid for this latest data to be presented in the layout.

customer_Name and Customer_City are text measures .And every time the customer_name and Customer_city are new.
Limitations :
1.We have to load the data directly from the Staging Oracle tables.
2.There are no ETL tools.
Problem :
Plan to Load data directly to Planning/Essbase cube using Open SQL method . But its not allowing to load text data unless or until I predefined in a DB.
Please gimme some suggestions to achieve the same without any ETL tools or csv files ... ?

I just talked to a buddy of mine whose client loaded text data into Planning behind the scenes and messed up the OBJECT_ID count. That client (no, I don't know who they are) picked a number that they thought that Planning would never, ever, ever get to -- remember, OBJECT_ID is the object counter that Planning uses to uniquely identify each object -- and started loading text directly to the Planning tables.
And then Planning hit that number.
KABOOM.
May I suggest that you use the OutlineLoad.cmd utility to load data? You can drive it off the command line (no other way, in fact) and know that at least nothing like the above will happen.
It's all in the Planning admin guide.
NB -- This utility exists in Planning 11 onwards.

Automatically trigger the event to load data from Planning cube to Standard Cube

Hello,
We have a below set up in our system..
1. A Planning BEx query using which user makes certain entries and writes back data to the planning cube.
2. An actual reporting cube which gets data from the planning cube above.
Now, what we want to do is to automate the data load from Planning cube to Reporting cube.
This involves 2 things..
1. Change the setting " Change real time load behaviour " of the planing cube to Planning.
2. Trigger the DTP which loads data from Planning cube to reporting cube.
We want to automate the above two steps...
I have tried few things to achieve the same..
1. Created an event in SM64,
2. In the Planning cube "Manage" Screen, clicked on "Subsequent Processing" and provided the event details. ( Not sure if its the correct place to provide the event detail ).
3. Wrote a ABAP program which changes the setting of the planning cube ( " Change real time load behaviour " to Loading )
4. Created a process chain, where we have used the event as a start variant, used the ABAP program as a next step, DTP run as the last step..
This i hoped, would trigger the event as soon as a new request comes and sits in planning cube, which in turn would trigger the process chain which would load the data from Planning cube to reporting cube..
This is not working. I dont think the event is triggering, and even if does i am not sure whether it will start the process chain automatically. Any ideas please ?

How to write data from planning folder into a planning cube in BPS

Hi All,
I have an issue in writing data from planning folder to planning cube.
I updated the excel sheet in planning folder in UPSPL tcode.
After clicking on save button in the excel sheet the data did not get updated into the cube.
I set the real time cube to planning mode.
Please let me know if there are any settings to save the data to cube or how can it be done.

What do you mean by "the data did not get updated into the cube" ?
Don't you find a yellow request in the cube administration transaction ? What happened if you set it to green ?

Issues with Writing back data to Planning Cube After adding a new characterstic

Hello,
We have two cubes and a MP on top of it. ( Reporting Cube and Planning Cube ). An aggregation layer has also been built and so does a planning BEx query on top of it.
Before Scenario: things were working fine as we were able to write back data to planning cube using the BEx.
After Scenario: We created a new Dimension in the planning cube and added a new characteristic ( lets call it ZX_KEY ) . This Characteristic holds the concatenated values of some of the other characteristics in its master data tables . ( For ex: Account_Customer ID_Country-code_Industry-code ).
This new characteristic is also present in the reporting cube and has been added and transferred to MP.
This new characterstic was added to the planning BEx query as one of the rows and we executed it the analyzer. After entering the required values for all characterstics ( including the newly added ZX_KEY ) and the key figure values, we tried saving it. Now this is where the Analyzer is throwing up this error..
~~Characterstic combination cannot be assigned to part provider ~~
~~Characterstic 'ZX_KEY'; Characterstic value 'R123000000_12_US_TX'~~
~~ Entered values are incorrect:Correct before navigation ~~
The value that we are entering ( R123000000_12_US_TX ) is picked up from the master data table of ZX_KEY by double clicking and selecting it from the fetched values. So i am not sure as to why its throwing up the above error. Request your help on this please.
