DATEDIFF function work in Oracle database or not ?
Hai all,
I like to know whether DATEDIFF function work in Oracle database or not.
And to add to what Stew and Ranit have said... if you need the months between two dates, there's a special function for that...
SQL> select months_between(sysdate, date '2011-04-18') from dual;
MONTHS_BETWEEN(SYSDATE,DATE'2011-04-18')
18.37051So, number of years between two dates can also be achieved with the same function and dividing by 12...
SQL> select months_between(sysdate, date '2011-04-18')/12 from dual;
MONTHS_BETWEEN(SYSDATE,DATE'2011-04-18')/12

Does ORACLE functions work with Oracle Database 10G
Hi,
I am wondering if ORACLE functions work with Oracle Database 10G or is it mandatory to use OCI functions?
Thanks in advance!I was able to run a simple query with ora_* functions using 10g on Windows.
The Oracle OCI calls used by PHP's ora extension still exist in the Oracle 10g libraries
But I cannot recommend this obsolete extension.

ASP application has problems working with oracle database 8.1.7
ASP application has problems working with oracle database 8.1.7 through both oracle ODBC driver and Microsoft ODBC driver
We have an ASP application running on Windows 2000 server, and with 8.1.7 Net8Client and MDAC 2.6 SP1.
The application worked fine with an Oracle 8.0.5 database.
After upgrading oracle database to 8.1.7.0.0, our ASP application works fine except when updating the same data record more than once. The application is not saving our updates.
We tested our application using Oracles ODBC driver v8.1.7.5.0
and experienced more problems. We had problems just bring up our data entry pages. In either case, we are returned with some 505 errors in our browser, problems with the ASP pages and IIS, the page is not displaying.
If anyone has some suggestions on how to fix my problem, please advise. Thanks in advance.thanks...i saw one article with this approach..but the document did not present the detailed process...do you have one? i am still searching for a good procedure to follow...since it is an old database and focusing/studying old versions like this is a pain in the a**... :(

ORA-01079: ORACLE database was not properly created, operation aborted
Hello everyone,
On Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0
My problem is that I've to drop the database as the same is not created properly.
For that, I get the below error when I try to mount the database.
ORA-01079: ORACLE database was not properly created, operation aborted
Also, when I was starting the database specifying the pfile, it was throwing error saying
ORA-00202: control file: 'D:\ORACLE_10G\DATABASE\CTL1SAMPLEDB.ORA'
When I specified control_files clause in init.ora I was getting above error, so I tried removing the same but still faced the same error.
Can anybody help me resolving the problem ... ???

thanksyou should be able to do the following on windows from the command line
oradim -delete -sid sampledbthen remove the D:\ORACLE_10G\DATABASE\ folder from the filesystem (assuming there are only files relating to your db in there.
finally remove the D:\ORACLE_10G\ADMIN\SAMPLEDB folder structure assuming it exists.

Execute Function in external ORACLE Database
Hi Gurus,
I'm working with Native SQL, trying to execute a function (NOT a procedure) present in an Oracle Database.
I have the DBCO table ready and the conection is working fine, but when I want to execute the function I get the following error (with short dump):
Database error text: "ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement"
Database error code: 900
Triggering SQL statement:
:VALIDO := cai_valido_i ? , ? , ? , ? , ? , ? )"
Looks like this is a syntax error when i'm trying to use the function. I try to call the function with EXECUTE PROCEDURE, but another error appear, saying that the procedure doesn't exist.
This is the function that I need to call in Oracle:
cai_valido_i
(ccai in number,
ccuit in number,
cfecha in date,
ccod_tc in number,
cpto_vta in number,
cnro in number) return number
I Hope somebody can help me with this.
Kind regards,
Roberto.-Not sure how to call Functions but I executed procedures as below:
EXEC SQL PERFORMING <SAP_SUBROUTINE>.
SELECT <PROCEDURE>(
:<IN_PAR1>,
:<IN_PAR2>,
:<IN_PAR3>)
INTO :<OUT_PAR1>
FROM DUAL
ENDEXEC.

Ajax functionality works in embedded OC4J, but not on iAS 10.1.2
Hi,
For a customer, we made an ADF application using JDeveloper 10.1.2. Using instructions from http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/vohra-ajax.html we coded a servlet, to find a description from a code the user entered in the application, and show this on the webpage without page refresh (the application uses JSP and Struts). This works fine in the embedded oc4j server JDeveloper provides, and also works fine on the Standalone OC4J server. However, when the application is deployed to the iAS from the customer, everything works fine, except the ajax functionality, the description fields simply are not shown.
Does anyone have a clue what could be the problem? We also runned the application on the iAS server itself, and this gives the same error (no ajax functionality).
Thanks in advance,
RemcoHi dvohra,
Thanks for your reply. I'm afraid I overlooked something, which is the reason of the ajax functionality not working. The Servlet that made the Ajax functionality used a datasource, and the same was in the Embedded OC4J Preferences. The ADF Business Components part was changed to use the datasource declared on the iAS. The Servlet however was not...
So, all works now. -
hello,
i would like to know if AWM 11.2.0.3.0A works against with oracle database 12c in pdb mode or not .
regards
jmI have attempted to connect 11g versions of AWM to 12c and get this error:
'This version of Analytic Workspace Manager is incompatible with the database instance. The Analytic Workspace Manager version is 11.2.0.3.0 and the database compatible version is 12.1.0.0.0'
So unfortunately it is not compatible, and there is currently no AWM for 12c
I also contacted Oracle support and they wont give me any information about a release date or any information on the xml template specification for 12c.
I guess we will just have to wait till they release a version of AWM that supports 12c...

Oracle database does not start timezone mismatch
Hi
I am new on oracle database. My server has restart and now when I try to start oracle database I get this error can anyone help to come out this error.
oracle@host [~]# /home/u01/app/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/bin/emctl start dbconsole
TZ set to US/Michigan
Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Database Control Release 10.2.0.1.0
Copyright (c) 1996, 2005 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
http://server:1158/em/console/aboutApplication
Timezone mismatch: The agentTZRegion value (US/Michigan) in
/home/u01/app/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/database/sysman/config/emd.properties
does not match the current environment TZ setting(US/Michigan).
The dbconsole cannot run with this mismatch.
If US/Michigan is the correct timezone, set your timezone environment variable to US/Michigan and repeat the 'emctl start dbconsole' operation.
If US/Michigan is not the correct timezone, make sure that the timezone in your environment is correct, and then run the following command in your local Oracle Home: 'emctl resetTZ agent'
The output of this command will include detailed instructions to follow, to correct the mismatch.
Thanks in advance
Edited by: user6550464 on Mar 29, 2009 11:46 PMAnd now You see the reason for error message.
emctl thinks that time zone is US/Michigan (its from emd.properties file)
but on linux timezone is set to Asia/Calcutta
Yoiu should understand which one timezone is correct. If it's US - then talk with server sysadmin, he will set correct one timezone on linux.
If correct one is on linux - then follow metalink note how to change timezone for agent.
If none of them are correct, then You will have to follow both steps. -
XML Query works on one database and not working on others with errLPX-00241
I have one query as below
SELECT EXTRACTVALUE
(VALUE (xml_node),
'/inspectionActivityArtifact/ns2:landfillTypes/ns2:type[position()=1]',
'xmlns:ns2="http://dwm.sw.xmlNamespace/InspectionActivity"'
) AS TEST
FROM artifacts a,TABLE (XMLSEQUENCE ((XMLTYPE (NVL (artifact_data, '<empty></empty>'))))) xml_node
this works well on other databases but not working on one database. Everything is same configuration and OS and everything.
I can work on other XML parsing which is working fine but not this query.
Any idea ?
Viral Davepost versions and patch levels for both databases eg 10.2.0.1.0 and the error message you are getting.

Edited by: user12137804 on Sep 27, 2012 5:17 AMhi,
Thanks for your reply, when i try to connect db control from my browser using link https://zainbi.zainiq.com:1158/em it will show me below message
can't establish a connection to the server at zainbi.zainiq.com:1158.
When i check the status: emctl status dbconsole
EM Configuration issue. /db0/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db_1/zainbi.zainiq.com_DB11G not found.
when i check the path i found the last folder with sid name in lower case /db0/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db_1/zainbi.zainiq.com_db11g.
I have rename the directory with /db0/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.3/db_1/zainbi.zainiq.com_DB11G.
Then i execute emctl status dbconsole command it show running state and i have successfully connected to my enterpirse manager.
So moral of the story is : use the same case for database sid in tnsname and database installation other wise face problem in configuring oracle enterprise manager repository.
Thanks
Zeeshan

FORALL MERGE statement works in local database but not over database link
Given "list", a collection of NUMBER's, the following FORALL ... MERGE statement should copy the appropriate data if the record specified by the list exists on both databases.
forall i in 1..list.count
merge into tbl@remote t
using (select * from tbl
where id = list(i)) s
on (s.id = t.id)
when matched then
update set
t.status = s.status
when not matched then
insert (id, status)
values (s.id, s.status);
But this does not work. No exceptions, but target table's record is unchanged and "sql%rowcount" is 0.
If the target table is in the local database, the exact same statement works:
forall i in 1..list.count
merge into tbl2 t
using (select * from tbl
where id = list(i)) s
on (s.id = t.id)
when matched then
update set
t.status = s.status
when not matched then
insert (id, status)
values (s.id, s.status);
Does anyone have a clue why this may be a problem?
Both databases are on Oracle 10g.

Edited by: user652538 on 2009. 6. 12 오전 11:45Should throw an error in my opinion. The underlying reason for not working is basically because of
SQL> merge into t@remote t1
using ( select sys.odcinumberlist (1) from dual) t2
on (1 = 1)
when matched
then
update set i = 1
Error at line 4
ORA-22804: remote operations not permitted on object tables or user-defined type columnsSame reason as e.g.
insert into t@remote select * from table(sys.odcinumberlist(1,2,3))doesn't work. -
Why certain functionality works in Adobe Acrobat, but not in LiveCycle Preview PDF?
I have some simple logic in a LiveCycle form that will hide a subform when I click a checkbox. When I save as dynamic PDF and open in Adobe Acrobat 9, it works fine, but when I test the .xdp in LiveCycle Preview PDF it does not. I'm new to JavaScript and have wasted some time troubleshooting what I thought was a problem, only to find out it was working. Am I doing something that is not capatible with Preview PDF?
Attached below are images of hierarchy, design, and code. I realize the hierarchy is more complex than it needs to be. It is an excerpt I built to test this functionality, based on the full document.
Thanks.
form1.diag.Cervical.show::click - (JavaScript, client)
if (this.rawValue == 1) {narrative.Cervical.mre.presence = "visible"} else {narrative.Cervical.mre.presence = "hidden"}
form1.narrative.Cervical.mre::initialize - (JavaScript, client)
this.presence = "hidden";Did you made the form as Dynamic and Interactive in the preview..
1) Goto File menu -> Form Properties and select Defaults tab. Change the Default Render Format as Dynamic XML form
2) Select the Preview Tab. Set the Preview type as "Interactive Form" and Preview Adobe XML form as Dynamic XML form
3) Finally while saving the PDF select Save As Type as "Adobe Dynamic XML Form".
Thanks
