DAU Bundles Failing on SLESx86 and SLES64 bit servers
Good day,
I have recently started working with ZCM11 Patch Management, and one thing that I'm seeing consistently on my ZCM/ZCC console is the failure of the DAU Linux-SUSE-x86_64-en-SLES-11.2 Bundle from completing on the machines. The message log only states the following: Unsuccessful [then the date] March 27 1:00 AM [Source] /Devices/Servers/SLES_Servers/(server name)
Is there anything that can provide a more detailed explanation? I have tried TID 7010019 but that does not seem to have helped. This is currently just for my testing lab, but I would like to explore what might be the cause? Also is removing the ZCM11 Agent from the server a viable option?

I downloaded the 32 bit version of photoshop cc 2014. When trying to install I get the message that installer failed to initialize and that this could be due to a missing file. Has anybody a solution>?
Did you unzip the entire contents of the download zip file onto your hard drive before running the installer? You need to do that.
I have installed it myself and it went in just fine.

How to delete and re download the DAU Bundles - ZCM10.3.4
I have a lot of error like could not download bundle content for Discover Applicable Updates Windows-x86-en-WIN7sp0 because the device is not currently connected to the network. or Could not download bundle content for Discover Applicable Updates Windows-x86-es-XPsp3 because a ZENworks Server could not be located..
I would like to delete all DAU bundles and re download them, to test.
Is there a way to do that? Or somebody know the resolution for this problem?.
Thanks.wdiana,

Safari fails to start and crashes
Today I tried to open a link from an Apple ap-store email and Safari failed to open and reported a crash error message, It worked great yesterday? I searched through the forums and tried a few of the listed fixes but nothing has worked for me. So far the most complex attempt was deleting the webpageicons.db file, it did not help. I placed the webpagicons.db file back where it came from just incase. I have also tried to see if I have any plug ins running but Safari dosn't even load so I cant even get into the preferences options. I am very much a rookie with my iMac as I have rarely had any issues that needed support. This will be the first major trouble I have had with my mac since I bought it. I posted one of the error messages below, I have tried to open Safari nine times and each time it closes out without starting. Any help would be greatfull, thank you in advance.

I think I was able to get Safari to uninstall properly this time, I was prompted for a password and it shows in the trash can now. However after trying to reinstall it still errors out at the very end of the install and asks me to contact the software manufacturer? Ugh...
Andy,
Here is the text from console, sorry its a long one for only 20 min. of up time. I've never used console before wow is there a lot going on here... I grabbed the wrong log the first time and had to come back and edit... I also left some of the original text from the old log as it has a bunch of repeating FLASH reports that might mean something.

Photoshop failed to quit and is not responding
I've had a nasty problem for the past few days that seems to be getting gradually worse. ie it now happens within a few minutes of openning Photoshop, whereas before it was happenning after an hour or two of working on an image....
At some point while working on a moderately complex .psd (roughly 70mb with some 15 layers) Photoshop hangs and Force Quit Applications tells me that Photoshop is not responding. I can't identify anything particular that i'm doing that triggers it.... i use a fairly wide variety of tools and filters and the hang doesn't seem to be triggered by anything specific.
I force Photoshop to quit, and it disappears from the Force Quit Application list. However, after quitting, I cannot open .psd or .jpg files from Bridge or from Finder. Raw files open up ok from Bridge into Camera Raw. And, when I try to shut down or restart my machine i get: " Logout has timed out - The application Photoshop failed to quit and is not responding." so the only way to restart is to force a shut down with the power button. After restarting the Mac Photoshop works ok again for a a while and then the problem happens again.
I have repaired my disk permissions and run Diskwarrior over both my Mac HD ad the external Firewire drive where all my images live - which didn't identify anything out or the ordinary.
Any thoughts on what else I can do to eliminate this problem would be v gratefully received
I am working on a Dual-Core Intel MacPro with 9GB memory, running OS 10.4.11 and Photoshop CS3 10.0.1 and Bridge CS3 2.1.1.9Neil, just for reference the Cron script problem was fixed in 10.4.2 and should be run on boot if they haven't already. This doesn't mean that running cocktail occasionally to make sure doesn't have value or to run the maintance scripts early doesn't help (it wont hurt).
Nick
The 3 Gb limitation is a limitation of 32bit operating systems and software. Photoshop can't address (use) more than 3Gb regardless of how much you have free or installed. OSX 10.4 is kind of 64bit but not completly, it has the ability to remap memory so EACH program can use a max of 3Gb. so in your case with 5ish Gb used PS is using 3Gb, Safari is using a bit and the OS is prob using most of the rest.
Looking at what you posted the only two figures your really interested in is the Used and Free (which add up to approx 9Gb). The fact that the used number doesn't change from the several files open and the liquify filter opening indicates to me that it has already grabbed as much memory as it can( it's using 3Gb of the 5.52, the rest is the OS etc).
Simply put PS IS running out of memory. You can help this by putting the memory allocation in the PS preferences higher (the OS will use other areas of memory so it wont cause a problem) and make sure the scratch disk is set to a drive with plenty of space. But keep in mind the Liquify filter is VERY memory intensive so you may not be able to use it with lots of files open.

T61 DVD/CD-RW drive fails to read and crashes
Hello Everyone, I hope people still visit this area of the forums!
I've highlighted and bolded the symptoms to make them easier to find.
I recently purchased a T61 6457-C15 on eBay, and have been in the proccess of setting up and customizing it to suit my tastes. When I recieved the laptop, it looked as though Windows had been restored to original factory state, plus some free software, so I proceeded under that assumption. First I used Windows Update to download all the updates that it could find including IE8. I wanted to have an anti-virus program running on my computer before I used a browser to access the internet. I ran IE8 and went straight to the Microsoft Security Essentials website and downloaded the Install program. At this point I tried to remove the pre-installed and expired Norton Internet Security using the built-in uninstall, but it failed. A message box popped saying that I needed to put the Norton installation disc in the CD-ROM drive so that the uninstall program could find a Norton support file. My computer did not come with any discs, but my mothe had bought Norton 2008, so I took that disc and put it in the drive. The drive started spinning right away, and the uninstall program found the file it was looking for in a few seconds. The support file directed me to the Norton website to get their removal tool, which removed Norton from my system in short order. Afterwards, I ran the Microsoft Security Essentials install program and got MSE running on my computer before doing anything else.
Then I went to the Lenovo support website and had it auto-detect my system. That took me to the support page for my system, where I went to the "Downloads and Drivers" page. I downloaded Access Connections and ThinkVantage Toolbox for Vista 32-bit (my OS is Vista Business 32-bit). I then used Lenovo System Update to retrieve all the updates it deemed neccessary from Lenovo, including those for itself and system components, both software and firmware. There were 35 or more updates suggested, and I trusted the software, so I started downloading them all. I'm not sure, but I think that a DVD/CD-RW drive update was included in the list, but I can't remember if it was auxiliary software, drivers or firmware. After Lenovo System Update was convinced that it had all the neccessary updates, I downloaded Revo Uninstaller and set about removing uneccassary and unwanted programs from my computer and trimming the startup list. I did not touch any Windows or ThinkVantage components, and I searched each program online, so I'm sure that I did not delete or disable any drivers or system files, or anything from Lenovo. I mainly removed Apple products and non-functional software from my system, including an integrated camera driver (my system does not have an integrated camera) and third-party programs that were already missing files or otherwise inoperable when I got my computer. Up to this point I had been using a gigabit ethernet connection to download software; I had not used the DVD/CD-RW drive except for the one time I specified earlier.
Now that I had my system set up to my liking, including personalization and power settings, I started to install my first program: Command & Conquer the First Decade from a DVD-ROM. When I put the disc in the drive and closed it, it took a few seconds for the drive to spin up, and once it did, it was constantly running at high speed and I could hear the reader constantly moving back and forth quickly. After a few minutes the disc's install menu finally appeared, so I clicked on the install button. I waited several minutes but nothing happened, so I tried to view the contents of the drive by going to My Computer > DVD/CD-RW drive (D, right clicking and selecting explore from the menu options. When I did that, the address bar of the My Computer window started to fill up with a dark gray progress bar and said "loading (D", I think with the drive or disc name after it. After it took several minutes to fill completely, nothing happened. I waited a few more minutes to see if anything would change, (nothing did,) I clicked on the X button in the top right corner of the window to close it. A few minutes and clicks later, the My Computer window was labeled as (not responding), and the window itself became grayed-out. I started Task Manager and tried to close the My Computer window, but the entire Windows Desktop disappeared along with it, saying that it would attempt to restart. Even Task Manager became non-responsive and quit after closing My Computer. After a few minutes of staring at my background (and nothing else), I ejected the disc, and Windows Desktop reappeared immediately and acted as if nothing had ever been wrong.
I checked Device Manager, but neither the DVD/CD-RW drive nor any of the ATA controllers were flagged; in fact they all said they were working properly with up-to-date drivers. I ran the ThinkVantage Toolbox diagnostics on the drive using a data CD, a music CD and a different DVD-ROM, but in each case the drive failed the tests and a message box popped-up saying that the discscould not be read because they were scratched or there was a hardware problem. I checked the discs both before I put them in and after I took them out, and they were not scratched; also, all of the discs are publisher-manufactured from a software or music company. I restarted my computer, booted the Rescue and Recovery option and Ran PC-Doctor from there. I ran the same drive read tests with the same failure results. The entire time the drive was behaving the same way it had when it first failed to read a disc. Next I removed and cleaned the drive both inside and out with a can of compressed air; I also cleaned the ultrabay itself. Finally I tried fixing the problem with Microsoft Fix It, but when it automatically ejected the drive and i put a disc in, the disc became trapped in the drive and Windows froze up like before. I had to restart Windows twice (once with a BSOD) in order to get the disc out. When the disc was removed the computer went back to normal operation once again.
Please help me, my DVD/CD-RW drive is a Matshi ta UJDA775, my operating system is Windows Vista Business and my T61's model number is 6457-C15. I have tried all the troubleshooting fixes and none have worked. I have tried updating drivers and using diagnostic software and they have not worked. I have tried disabling drag-to-disc burning and it has not worked. I have treid removing and cleaning the drive and that has not solved my problem. I did notice that the driver for the "Intel(R) ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI controller" is the only related driver that can be rolled back, so maybe that might fix it. I'm also wondering if a firmware change caused this, and if so, if there is any way I can undo that. The only other fix I've heard of that I haven't tried is editing the registry, but I'm hesitant to do that. I haven't tried booting from the CD drive because I have no bootable CDs and I'm worried that my computer might get stuck in that mode. I'm hoping that someone can tell me what I can do to try to fix this problem, preferably without wrecking my computer. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
P.S. Just adding a note; I went through both the Microsoft and Lenovo Update histories and the only related updates I could find were: ThinkPad BIOS update, Easy Eject utility, Intel Matrix Storager Manager driver for Windows (32-bit), and maybe one of the two Intel Chipset Support for Vista updates. I tried rolling back the AHCI driver but it had no effect.
Solved!
Go to Solution.Well, my problem is fixed, and here's how. I had some trouble figuring out how to contact Lenovo technical support; online options directed me to the IBM support website, which was clearly designed for businesses. Selecting the "Call technical support" option on the Lenovo support website and then choosing my country gave me a 24/7 hotline number. After waiting about five minutes on hold, a nice young fellow by the name of "Tyrese" answered (I maybe misspelling his name), but the connection was so bad that we could barely hear each other. Although he semed eager to help, when I told him my problem the first things he suggested were simple, like cleaning the drive, However, when I told him all of my efforts, described above, to fix the problem myself and read him the log from the Rescue and Recovery diagnostic program, after he checked the error codes against his computer database he promptly replied that the only fix was to send out a new drive. I was happy to have gotten such a successful resolution to a support call in less than fifteen minutes; apparently, all the work I had done trying to solve the problem myself had paid off in a way. Unfortunately, although I had tried to spell out my address for him, some of it got left off of the address label, which caused some trouble in receiving the new drive. Once I got it, I installed it using the uninstall & remove (old drive), shut down, start up, insert & install (new drive) method that I referenced earlier in this topic. I've been using the new drive since then without any trouble, so I guess that the only fix was to replace the drive. Also, I noticed that the new drive was a Hitachi, perhaps a T400/410 or T500/510 Ultrabay Slim drive, which should help me avoid the problems that other users were having with the older Matshi-ta drives. I hope this description helps anyone else having a problem with the optical drives on the T61/61p.

Can't burn cd's using iTunes 7.3 and 64-bit Windows Vista Ultimate
Every time I try to burn a CD I get the following error:
"Disc Burner or Software Not Found"
I have checked Device Manager and no problems with the disc burner there. I've even burned cd's from Windows Media Player(and dvd movies with other programs), but I would prefer using iTunes 7.3 to burn cd's. From reading the discussions it is my understanding that iTunes cd burning functionality doesn't work with 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. Is there a fix for this? Please advise. Here's how to get Itunes to work in Vista and XP64 bit:
Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right Click on Command Prompt -> Run As Administrator.
Type “cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64″
Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll
If you don’t do Run as Administrator, the regsvr32 will fail. Also, be careful to run the command in SysWOW64, not System32! System32 on a 64-bit system actually contains the 64-bit system libraries. -
Best practice for managing a Windows 7 deployment with both 32-bit and 64-bit?
What is the best practice for creating and organizing deployment shares in MDT for a Windows 7 deployment that has mostly 32-bit computers, but a few 64-bit computers as well? Is it better to create a single deployment share for Windows 7 and include both
versions, or is it better to create two separate deployment shares? And what about 32-bit and 64-bit versions of applications?
I'm currently leaning towards creating two separate deployment shares, just so that I don't have to keep typing (x86) and (x64) for every application I import, as well as making it easier when choosing applications in the Lite Touch installation. But I know
each deployment share has the option to create both an x86 and x64 boot image, so that's why I am confused.Supporting two task sequences is way easier than supporting two shares. Two shares means two boot media, or maintaining a method of directing the user to one or the other. Everything needs to be imported or configured twice. Not to mention doubling storage
space. MDT is designed to have multiple task sequences, why wouldn't you use them?
Supporting multiple task sequences can be a pain, but not bad once you get a system. Supporting app installs intelligently is a large part of that. We have one folder per app install, with a wrapper vbscript that handles OS detection. If there are separate
binaries, they are placed in x86 and x64 subfolders. Everything runs from one folder via the same command, "cscript install.vbs". So, import once, assign once, and forget it. Its the same install package we use for Altiris, and we'll be using a Powershell
version of it when we fully migrate to SCCM.
Others handle x86 and x64 apps separately, and use the MDT app details to select what platform the app is meant for. I've done that, but we have a template for the vbscript wrapper and its a standard process, I believe its easier. YMMV.
Once you get your apps into MDT, create bundles. Core build bundle, core deploy bundle, Laptop deploy bundle, etcetera. Now you don't have to assign twenty apps to both task sequences, just one bundle. When you replace one app in the bundle, all TS'es are
updated automatically. Its kind of the same mentality as active directory. Users, groups and resources = apps, bundles and task sequences.
If you have separate build and deploy shares in your lab, great. If not, separate your apps into build and deploy folders in your lab MDT share. Use a selection profile to upload only your deploy side to production. In fact I separate everything (except
drivers) into Build and deploy folders on my lab server. Don't mix build and deploy, and don't mix Lab/QA and production. I also keep a "Retired" folder. When I replace an app, TS, OS, etcetera, I move it to the retired folder and append "RETIRED - " to the
front of it so I can instantly spot it if it happens to show up somewhere it shouldn't.
To me, the biggest "weakness" of MDT is its flexibility. There's literally a dozen different ways to do everything, and there's no fences to keep you on the path. If you don't create some sort of organization for yourself, its very easy to get lost as things
get complicated. Tossing everything into one giant bucket will have you pulling your hair out. -
Windows plain and 64-bit CC installed. Which one gets launched?
I have both InDesign CC and InDesign CC 64-bit installed on my Windows machine. My System info says I'm running a 64-bit system. When I launch ID CC, which application gets launched? What are the requirements to take advantage of the 64-bit architecture? Is it more memory? Can I uninstall the non-64-bit application? I don't see incredible speed increases with CC for Win.
It is very strange that users are forced to install both the 64-bit and
32-bit versions, and that there's no way to uninstall one of them. I
don't have such a strong opinion as Bob as to whether they should
actually drop the 32-bit version altogether -- that's something which
Adobe can decide. But definitely the user should have a choice! It just
seems quite shoddy to force us to use up our hardware resources to
install two versions of the same app for no reason without being able to
uninstall one. Plus the issues, as you say, of not obviously knowing
which app is being launched when you double-click a file.
I also posted a while back about more shodiness along these lines - the
brand new Adobe Exchange packager (which packages producers' scripts for
the brand new Adobe Exchange) actually fails to target the 64-bit
version of InDesign CC. Meaning that you can package your script, target
InDesign in Exchange Producer, not get any warnings, have your
submission "vetted" by Adobe, only to get users emailing you about why
your script doesn't appear inside the CC 64-bit script panel. I haven't
heard whether they've fixed that yet. So the lack of clarity about what
is being installed seems to reach right inside Adobe.

How to create a ARD for 64 Bit And 32 Bit Systems
Dear All,
Please help me to solve my problem. I am not able to create the ARD for both type systems (32 Bit and 64 Bit Bit). My system is OS Windows 7, 32 bit operating system. Sometimes my add-ons run successfully for 32 bit , sometimes for 64 bit. I am creating 2 ARD's for each add-on but I have failed.
I have read many threads but I got no success.
Please help me.
RegardsHi Pedro Magueija, Edy Simon,
Thanks for your reply. I follow below mentioned steps to create the ARD File. I build my add-on code as mentioned below:
Solution Configuration
Solution Platform
Project Properties/Compile/ Advanced Compile Option/ Target CPU
Add-on Registration Data Generator x64 Option
Debug
x86
x86
FALSE (Unchecked)
Debug
x86
x86
True (Checked)
I was able to create and use ARD by doing in above mentioned way. But sometimes these ARD doesn't work or doesn't get installled.

Hi all,
SQL Server 2012 EE 64 bits (SOURCE)
Oracle 12c 64 bits (DESTINATION)
To make my solution - integrate SQL Server with Oracle - work, i had to install both 32 and 64 bits of the Oracle 12c Client. After that, i had to change the properties of my SSIS package to run on 32 bits only (properties > Debugging >
Run64BitRuntime set to FALSE). Before i made this change, the execution of my package was failing, but after setting Run64BitRuntime to false, the package ran successfully. Why is that?
I am thinking of unistalling the 64 bits ORacle Client from my Windows Server, but i fear that if i uninstall, my package stop working.
Any suggestions/corrections will be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance
OBS1: I am using ODBC as the source and destination tasks.Hi FabrícioPJ,
The 32-bit and 64-bit versions of a provider have the same ID. Therefore, the SSIS runtime will select the appropriate version of the provider to use. 32-bit SSIS Designer always requires and uses the 32-bit version of a provider at design time. However
when running the package in 64-bit mode that the Run64BitRuntime project property is True, it automatically switches to the 64-bit version of the provider. When it couldn’t find 64-bit version of the provider, the package would be failed. For more details,
please see:
http://dougbert.com/blog/post/64-bit-considerations-for-sql-server-integration-services-final.aspx
So in your scenario, it seems that there is not a 64 bit provider for Oracle in your environment, so the issue occurs. Please make sure you have installed the correct 64-bit version of the Oracle provider.

I try to drag a photo folder into lightroom 4 on my MAC, lightroom fails to open and a 'Corrupt Catalog Detected' screen pops up. Clicking on 'repair catalog' does not work either. Any suggestions?
I'll have to get a better instructor on deleting the preferences since when I've doen it in the past nothing is there when I open LR the catalog is gone. I assumed that was what was supposed to happen so I start importing all over again. But that is a different issue...
The problem has been happening since at least the beta of 3 came out and I saw other posts back then saying they had similar issues but I assume it was a beta thing... But since the full version came out and through each incremental change I haven't seen an improvement. If anything it has gotten a little worse with time.
I have to try to be careful to not be in a hurry and start clicking around in the catalog as it seems fragile until it has cataloged all the photos in the library. When starting you will see the numbers populate the folders very slowly and I try not to click on a folder that hasn't had the number of photos pop up yet. Also draging the slider down to see more of the cataloge can have the same affect and crash the system.
I wish I had more to go on.. I believe it may be a resources issue but as I went from 3-4 Gig I thought it would get better. I don't have big programs running but did have outlook and word running in the background along with firefox and chrome.
And yes it only happens on this HP desktop (it's 2+ yrs old) and may be showing it's age a bit. My laptop which has less resources doesn't have the issue.. I have them sharing the catalog. (not at the same time) just when I'm working in other places in the house.

"ERROR Failed to find either 24-bit TrueColor or 8-bit PseudoColor Visual"
I have a X200T with the integrated graphics. I'm trying to connect to a server and set up a X Windows kind of thing, but I get this error message: "ERROR Failed to find either 24-bit TrueColor or 8-bit PseudoColor Visual"
Whe I go to Control Panel--> Display --> Settings --> Color Quality, I only see two options: 1) Highest (32-bit) and 2) Medium (16-bit). I don't see an option for 24-bit or "millions of colors", etc.
Any ideas?Hello,
that´s correct. You can only choose between 32bit and 16bit colour on TP tft´s.

64-bit database and 32-bit companion on same host oracle home problem
Hi.
We have following situation in production.
Installed database version is 10.02.04. 64-bit,host Windows 2008 x64, now we are trying to install 32-bit companion cd and this time we are trying not to loose/kill our 64-bit oracle home inventory.
Last time 32-bit version was installed our 64-bit home vanished and attachHome script always returned error, it seems to me that 32-bit and 64-bit versions overwrite installation info to each other, only last install is visible.
When I run setup for 32-bit companion I don't see anything in installed products(it's not listing 64-bit oracle homes). We had a lot of problems with this, patch failing, no way to install anything anymore for 64-bit version...
So is it possible to install 32 and 64 bit homes on same host, can they coexist, and keep both homes(OUI homes info), are there any special steps or something?Well I looked at Inventory.xml file, after 32-bit version was installed entry for 64-bit install was gone.
Although I can not confirm that 100 percent because 32-bit installation was not done by me, maybe other guy who did it manually delete it as I did with 32-bit version to return my 64-bit inventory.
So my options are to backup 64-bit inventory, install 32-bit companion my 64-bit inventory will be overwritten, backup 32-bit, delete 32-bit, restore 64-bit inventory and I'll have active 64-bit inventory. Now I have inventory for 64-bit and I can restore 32-bit or 64-bit inventory when I need it.
This woks by is there another way...somebody... -
Linked servers:Using 64 and 32 bit ODBC providers concurrently
I have a very odd problem that I hope someone can help me with. I have a 64 bit odbc MySQL driver. Unfortunately, although I can connect to the data source from the control panel, the linked server cannot connect to the MYSQL data source. The
funny thing is that other linked servers (using the same odbc driver) have no problem connecting to their respective hosts. The problem seems seems to be between the 64 bit linked server and the host (a shoretel IP phone database that runs on top of
windows). I know that the 32 bit driver used to work, but when I rebuilt the server to 64 rather than 32 bit the linked server failed. What I am trying to do is to use both 64 bit driver and 32 bit driver concurrently (I have installed the 32 bit
version using the WOW 32 bit odbc tool, but because the SSMS provider dialog only allows me to use the 64 bit system dsn. I am wondering if I can get the 32 bit version to work as well using a user rather than system dsn. Is this possible? I
can send screenshots of the problem if needed. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer. What I am trying to do is to use both 64 bit driver and 32 bit driver concurrently
You can not. You can only use provider of the same 32/64 bit architecture as the SQL Server have.
