Daughter can't download on her "computer"

Using Mac OS 10.3.9 on an iMac, all four family members are set up with admin privileges. But one daughter can't download a pdf or file. She keeps getting the error message "Cannot create file". All of the other users can download. It's only on user account that she can't download. I can download the exact same file on my account that she can't on hers. How can I correct this?

My guess is that it's a bad preferences file. I imagine you've rebooted, sometimes that takes care of things. Do you leave your iMac on all the time? It will run maintance scripts in the middle of the night. Not suggesting that you leave your mac on for a month to see if that takes care of things, there are other ways of invoking the scripts that you may or may not need. I use System X Optimizer (http://www.mkd.cc/sox/) every once in a while. Things tend to run faster after it, but leaving your mac on will eventually do the same thing.
Sorry, to ramble....anyway, quit safari, go into her home folder, then Library, then Preferences...find com.apple.Safari.plist and trash it. Empty the trash and re-launch safari. Let us know if that works.

Backing up your phone isn't really relevant. You can download items you've already purchased (from the iTunes Store on your Mac) to your phone. If you have items you didn't purchase, e.g. ripped CDs, you would have to subscribe to 'iTunes Match' ($24.99 p.a.) to be able to do the same thing with them.

My daughter can mms photos from her LG phone to everyone but me and my iphone. She tells me that she can mms photos to other iphones and I can receive photos from other people, just not her. The only thing that I can think of is that we are on a family plan that allows unlimited text between family members so maybe my carrier is blocking MMS? The problem with that theory is that I can text photos to her, so I am stumped.

iPods do not work with "accounts." They work with your iTunes library. You don't have to set up a new iTunes library for each iPod. One iTunes library can sync with as many iPods, iPhones, and iPads as your own, at the same time. iTunes connects to and treats each device separately.
However, if your iPod nano is set up for automatic syncing with an iTunes library that is NOT your current iTunes library, you cannot sync your current library to it without replacing its existing content. Do you have access to the previous iTunes library, the one the iPod currently synced to? If so, you should transfer your song files from that iTunes library to your current iTunes library. Then, sync our iPod to your current iTunes library. You can post back to get more info about the procedure.
If you don't have access to that previous iTunes library, the approach is to first offload the song files from the iPod to your computer's drive, then add the song files to your current iTunes library.
You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store. However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
You can then sync your iPod to your "consolidated" iTunes library.

Does iTunes Match back up all of my music to the cloud so it can be downloaded on any computer regardless if there is a hard copy on the computer?

So I need to restore my computer soon.
With iTunes match I know it backs my library up to the cloud, but do I need the original copy on a computer to access my library?
So if I have iTunes match, then I restore my computer to a factory image, would I be able to re-download all of my music from iCloud back onto my computer even if the music wasn't purchased in iTunes?

Hi,
You do not need to have original on you computer when you redownload your music from the cloud.
However, it is essential that you back up all your music to an external hard drive should you need to recover any original track.

What is the problem with my phone?

Do you have MMS enabled, both on the phone and also within your account? Remember, MMS requires a data connection.
