Day 1 - How do I pre-sample video effects V7

I thought I could just drag effects to time line and sample, but I guess it's not that logical.

I'll just say, while loading discs last night, it didn't go totally flawless getting stuck on disk3.
Is there a process to run that will verify the software is fully 100%?
I'm running 10.6.8 on the MacBookPro.
If this is flawed, I'll have to load it on the MacPro instead. He's 10.6.8 also.

Selecting video tab to see end results behind adjustment panel seems a poor way to do it after the fact.
Place the clip on the Timeline. Position the playhead over it and double click the clip to send it to the Viewer.
Open the Viewer's Motion tab and make adjustments. The clip in the Canvas/Timeline will change accordingly.

(PS - you can't simply drag and drop an effect on multiple clip selections, the effect will only be applied to the clip you drop it on -- but double clicking the effect will apply it to all selected clips at once.)

Much of where a Transition is positioned will depend on your Clips, themselves. Here's another topic for your "Autumn Reading List" - Handles.
The understanding of these will go a very long way to understanding the placement and operation of Transitions.
Here's a short bit on Handles, but the manual (if they still have those) and the Help files will give you a lot more info.
Initially, Handles are a bit of an abstract concept, but once you get it, you'll fully understand some of the behavior of Transitions. Well worth reading.

How to achieve psychedelic rock video effects

I'm trying to achieve effects using After Effects (or premiere) for a psychedelic rock video of a live band performing on stage.
I remember in the old days I had effects that were built into the camera - one in particular where the camera would zoom in and out and leave colored trace outlines of the edges.
Does anyone have any tips, resources or tutorials for creating pschedelic rock video effects in After Effects?

That stuff was shot in the studio, and it was video feedback. If you're talking about the gloopy-looking colored & animated backgrounds that showed up behind a band, that was done with colored water, colored oil and a couple of clear-glass plates mooshed around.
"Gloopy" and "mooshed" are both highly-technical terms.

Hello, i am new here, and i have a project in my hand. I have to create a slideshow presentation on certain subject. I have completed the slideshow using a tool called,PhotoStage Slideshow Producer, with a bunch of 60 images. Now i want to add a small video effect in the beginning of the slideshow to make it look more professional. Might be able to create it with Filter > Render > Clouds with your foreground and background colors set to the lighter and darker versions of your selected color. Then you might need to use Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur to smooth things out

A "movie" made from still images and some sound tracks. All made using QuickTime Pro.
The "transitions" were made by taking the still images and adding them "scaled" to a ten second audio track. The audio was deleted so then I had about 50 little ten second videos. Two of these videos were merged into one file using:

Thousands of combinations can be created.
They were all added over another QT track (map of Texas) and their position and transparency levels and layers were adjusted. Last I copied all of this file and added it "scaled" to my two sound tracks.
The "filters" can be accessed via the Export "Movie to QuickTIme Movie" but they are applied to the entire file at export. If you wish to use more than one filter you should first create separate files from your source project.
The end result (a 4 MB file) would require over 300 MB's if done in an application like iMovie. The transitions add nearly nothing to the total file size when you do them using QuickTIme Pro.

How to open PRE 8 with Organizer 10

How do I set Organizer 10 to open videos with PRE 8? Could something be modify somewher (registry?) to have this possible? I upgrade my PSE 8 to PSE 10, but do not want to upgrade my PRE 8. Now I am stuck with not being able to open videos from within Organizer 10 which I use to classify my files.

Automatically linking PRE & PSE only works with the same version products. You could however try setting PRE8 as your supplementary application under Edit> Preferences> Editing.

How do I delete pics/videos from my iPhone 4 if it is not even able to do a restore/backup? A couple days ago I received an alert on my phone that said something like, "You cannot make or receive calls. Connect to iTunes to restore." I connected to iTunes and backed up the phone then started the restore. Before the restore could begin it ended the process and said, "Something is wrong with your iPhone please contact support, Apple Store etc". The Apple Store could not even complete a restore. I have since got a new iPhone but, I want to sell the old phone and I am afraid all my info/pics can be retrieved. Is there any other way to delete all of my pics, videos etc?

I got the "Cloud" including CS6 , yesterday,after a chat with a nice Indian
fellow who called me back from Bombay. Surprisingly he was looking forward
to Thanksgiving too but probably because he gets a day off.
I now have the Adobe Premiere Pro loaded (it took nine hours) and
installed. Now I'm starting the tutorials.

Quicktime comes pre-installed on all Macs. Quicktime 10 should be on your Dock and the original application inside your Application folder. Quicktime 7 is inside your Utility folder. VLC is the application that you need to download.
