Day 1 - problems and feedback
Hi everyone, before I list the problems on my imac let me first give ou the specs & config:
20"
2ghz duo core
250gb
2gb (factory installed)
256 vram
and yes, the dreaded build #8G1171
Here are the problems:
1 - front row doesn't work (app not responding)
2 - photo booth doesn't work (app not responding)
3 - trying to click on apple logo > about this mac doesn't respond
4 - IR remote doesn;t work (remote works, checked already)
5 - spinning beach ball when try to run almost any app (run alone)
Here's what I tried:
Repair permission
Onyx (checked everything)
What I'm going to try:
DiskWarrior
And if that doesn't work, I'll jump off a bridge (while waiting for apple support to take me off hold)
The "dreaded build 8G1171", is a build of OS X that comes on some Core Duo iMacs. Its a software build not a hardware build. Hardware usually doesn't have a build. And yes 8G1171 is particularly known for its errors, especially video errors. I am running 8G1165 on my 17" and have had no major errors except for the speed of just about anything, even OS X itself. But on the other hand I want to congratulate Apple for getting these systems out this early, as well as supplying them with a decent video card which COD 2 will look awesome on! Thanks apple!
In response to the original post, you have probably already tried this but have you checked to make sure that the remote is enabled in the Security tab of System Preferences? Or perhaps the logo on the front of your iMac is covered...In a lot of cases, the easiest way to solve problems while going around Tech Support would be to do a clean install or format of your iMac. If you are worried about losing your files, Tech Support may have you send in your machine if there is a hardware issue, so in both instances you would lose everything. Tech Support may be able to help, but there really is not a cure all fix all for these iMacs at this current point in time.

I just update to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4s. The calendars on my iPhone are not keeping the information on the days that should be marked. The info is there in my iCloud on my computer, just not on my phone. Has anyone else had the same problem and what can I do about it? Is it at bug in the iOS 7 update?
What do you mean by "on the days that should be marked"? Are you calendar events displayed on the wrong days?

firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I have been using firefox for years. I installed the latest version of Firefox. It worked fine for several days. Now I get the above message each time I try to start Firefox, even in safe mode. i have checked with latest antivirus softwere also.. i didn't find any thing suspicious.

I bought iPhone 6 Plus few days ago and I have the following problems:
1) When entering through Safary to Google Images and tap on each one of them they do not enlarge nor I am able by click on them to enter into their connected website
2) When I receive an e-mail with images I cannot easily save them in my gallery. It needs more than 10 tabs to the window "save this image" or "save all 3 images" and if I am lucky it saves one image. This is very frustrating, I loose a lot of time trying and affects my job.
I would highly apreciate any help

I previously uploaded images onto my desktop to work on in Lightroom 5.2. I worked on a few of the images days ago and just now getting back to them. My problem is I can only access the images I previously worked on and all the rest it says images not available but all the images are still right on my desktop.

Normally this happens because you moved, renamed or deleted these photos (or the folders that contain them) outside of Lightroom. This is how to fix the problem: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders -
My phone doesn't have any cellular phone functions...but it CAN send text messages and access data. Has this happened to anyone else? I've gone through three Samsung Galaxy S5's in the past three days, the last two have this problem and the first stopped working all together. I've had new sim cards put in, ive done hard resets on the phone, i've rebooted the phone, done battery pulls, and tech support has reset the signal to my phone. Nothing has worked. (I just "upgraded" <- lol.... and my old phone IS turned off.)
Im in 79707. So to recap my whole case: I upgraded my device using the verizon wireless website. I received my phone and switched my old SIM card from my Droid Razr Maxx HD into the new Galaxy S5. Everything worked fine until the next morning (May 31st) when I woke up and the phone wouldn't turn on. I took the phone to the local Verizon store and they were also unable to turn it on. They issued me a new Galaxy S5 (referred to as phone 2) and switched my SIM card into that one.
With PHONE 2 i was able to make calls and receive calls, along with text and data for approximately four hours. After that, i was unable to use the phone function of the device, but text and data were still functioning. I took PHONE 2 back to the Verizon store where they attempted to hard reset the phone twice, they also installed two new SIM cards at the store. After this they would get the same error, which is the phone just reading "Dialing..." after attempting to make a call. The Verizon associate declared the phone "DOA" and issued me another Galaxy S5 (referred to as PHONE 3).
PHONE 3 worked well, with phone text and data featured intact from when I received it on the after noon of the 31st until approximately 2:30PM on June 1st. I contacted Verizon Tech Support via Gmail phone to attempt the correct the problem. They reset the connection, had me do a battery pull, had me close the "phone" application, and erase the data and catche, then restart the phone. All of which had no effect. My phone is still able to receive texts and use data (even with wifi off) it simply cannot make or take phone calls. all it says is "dialing..." when I attempt to make a call. When other phones call my device it rings once on their end and directs them to voicemail, PHONE 3 does not ring on my end.
I have made sure my old phone is completely powered down. -

From apple say even a year has not passed it is not under garancy and I should pay to fix it without ans issue.

Give the Lady her money back then try and get your money back don,t buy

I am using the 30-day trial and have 4 days left. My problem is threefold - 1) I cannot open or see my timeline and don't wish to start over again; it's 15 minutes long - video, photos and audio. 2) My timeline has disappeared, so can't edit further 3) Need best way to export to DVD or my MacBook Pro laptop - don't know which settings/items to choose.
I would appreciate it very much if Apple Support would extend my 30-day trial. PLEASE help!Ok, Tom, I completed the first three steps and everything went fine. However, I still don't have a timeline, AND above is a screenprint of my timeline and what I presume is meant by the PROJECT. There is no project. Now, I can go up to the Event window and Export XML, but it doesn't give me a usable file. So, first, am I correct re: terminology - the timeline/bottom section is also known as the project folder/manager??
I've been reading other users strings as well and have tried their tricks as well. For instance, Eric Martin re: his deleting preference files (6/6), and Norman Jayo's (4/25) lengthy discourse with the "here is the work around" w/ 7 steps. Again, he mentions closing the PROJECT that is corrupted. I'm not sure that mine is corrupt as I can play and see my 15-minute audio/view in the view module (upper right).

I purchased a song a few days ago and downloaded the whole song and the song will not play all the way through it only plays 23 seconds. How do I fix this problem?
Thanks for this post. It corrected my similar issue. Note that you need to exit from/re-enter iTunes after deleting the song from your Purchased list.

I bought an iPhone 5 around fifteen days back and it has already started to give problem with the on/off button. I have to press it five six times to switch it on or off. I am so frustrated by the fact that if I bring it to the service centre, I am going to get a refurbished phone in place of my brand new phone which I just bought. The idea of a used phone repulses me. Any solutions ?

Why? Your current phone is used... it has been since the instant it was removed from the shrink wrap and turned on.

Live with the phone as is.
Take the device to Apple for evaluation... it may not need replacement.
Even if it does, neither you or the Apple tech should be able to tell if the replacement is new or refurbished.
