when i delete a app my screen goes black and i have to put in dfu mode and restore it didnt happen till i upgraded software any reason for this

When in DFU mode and connected to the computer iTunes does not say anything but iTunes will see the iPod and you can restore the iPod via iTunes. When in recovery mode and you connect, iTunes will say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • After the dreaded balck screen w/ pwr symbol my user accout is gone but...

Wow I finally got to a block to type in! I have no idea if I am in the right place but here goes: I got the dreaded black screen with the white power button symbol. Started up from original system disk only to find that I was no longer around. "User" as I was known had disapperedalong with all of my files. However they still occupy the majority of my hard drive space. I cannot find any files which I had previous to the incident. My hard drive was giving me "out of space" messages prior to the event and I had thrown away some nonessential files etc. Also found permissions way out of whack and repaired all. HELP!

    John,
Find your G4 laptop on the list at the newer hardware pages here and see if you get a response from more users. This area is for really old stuff!
    Good luck,
    Jim

  • What causes the dreaded black window?

The dreaded black window ("You have to restart ...") started showing up on the eMac about 2 months ago, about the time I upgraded to OS 10.4.11. However, it also showed up when I ran Panther off another disk. I bought the iMac G5 and installed OS 10.4.10. The black window comes up there every two or three days.
Does anyone know what might be the primary cause? Today I got it twice on the iMac, the second time while booting from the first crash.

You are experiencing a Kernel Panic as seen and described in Apple doc.#106227.

  • BT Netprotect and the dreaded white screen

I see a lot of negatives on this site about BT Netprotect but it has always worked for me.  My pc has a decent processor and memory bank so resources have not been a problem.  So you can imagine my dismay when Netprotect would not load and simply presented the dreaded white screen.  More dismay when I could not remove it using windows 7 or ccleaner.  Tried all sorts including a big old swear at the inanimate object.  Feeling better at having got my frustrations off my chest I decided that for whatever reason Netprotect had gone.   In a moment of pure genius (blush) I decided to try and reinstall.  I logged into my BT account and followed the links.  Downloaded the files and watched with childlike smugness as McAfee deleted all the old files and reinstalled new ones.   One check for updates and a full scan later and the smugness was at swmbo is gonna slap me levels.  It was worth it, it worked.  If you have the same problem it may work for you.  Downsides, stupid program made me delete Spybot and Malwarebytes as "unsafe", now reinstalled and working fine.  'Ells bells, BT labs use Malwarebytes!  Netprotect may not be perfect, is resource greedy and can frustrate you, but the white screen menace can be beaten.
Of course when I boot my pc tomorrow (okay today now), if I see a white screen and a McAfee logo, swmbo may yet see a grown man cry.....

Glad you got it sorted. Reinstalling often sorts out problem software, having said that I still wouldn't have BTNetprotect on my computer. I have never heard of any other antivirus giving any problems like the amount that BTNetprotect and McAfee does.

  • The dreaded Restart Screen

My PB has gotten into the habit of requiring a restart every 30 minutes or so. I'll be working and the dreaded grey/black screen comes down saying that I need to restart my computer (the one with the power image). I've rebuilt the drive twice using Disk Warrior. I've also checked the computer several times using Disk Genius. They both keep telling me that there are no problems, but still the dreaded screen returns. I attempted to take my laptop to my local Apple store, but there was at least a 3 hour wait. Is there any advice you can offer?

Here is the last one before I turned it on to answer your question.

  • Dreaded Black Screen and automatic shut-down.  Why does this happen ?

Why do I get a Black Screen and automatic shut-down ?  My iMac felt warm...and I never hear a fan go on..could overheating be why it shuts down?

    Hi Tish,
    A few things.
If you bough this iMac used with no original install/hardware test discs, you can call Apple at 1-800-MYAPPLE ask for software sales and tell them you need a set of iMac replacement install/hardware test discs. You'll need to give the Apple rep your iMac's serial number.to get the appropriate discs. There will be around a $16 or $17 U.S. charge for discs.
Since your iMac is still freezing, I now wonder if it is RAM and/or hard drive related.
Your iMac maybe freezing because of serious lack of RAM.
How full is your Mac's hard drive?
You only have 1 GB of RAM installed.
OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard really needs more RAM than this.
Intel versions of OS X use more CPU, GPU, RAM and hard drive resources.
OS X, running alone (without any other applications running) can use up between 2 and 4 GBs of RAM memory.
Youf iMac model can 4 GBs of RAM, but only about 3.1 to 3.3 GBs of it will be recognized.
Correct and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).
Without being able to run the Apple hardware test we have no way of knowing the condition of your iMac's hard drive.
The freezing could, also, be caused from a failing hard drive.
If you do not have any backup of your data, this is the time to create one.
Backup your important data to either DVD discs, flash drive/s or purchase an external hard drive to backup all,of your data to.
You can make an exact clone of the data, on your internal hard drive, using a data cloning like CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper. OR purchase the external drive and use OS X Time Machine to automatically backup your entire internal drive.

  • IOS Default.png and the 6sec Black Screen

    Greetings fellow scripters!
I'm at the 99% point with my app and have hit this terrible final snag.  Everything runs great.  Art looks crisp, sound is a nice fidelity, and the whole app is only 32mb in its .ipa form.  This is all fine, but I can't seem to get rid of this long black screen.
The Default.png loads and unloads in less than a second, then there is a long awkward pause before the .swf finally adds to the display list.
    Things I've tried:
-Using a tiny loader .swf and loading in the big .swf.  Much of it contains AS, so it just loads in the stage and bugs.
-Optimization.  I brought it from 112 to 32mb, and that's the best I can do without losing too much quality.
-The iPad simulator.  It loads fine there.  Loader class works and everything.
I'm surprised that I haven't seen tons of people complaining about this, but I'm definitely open to the possibility that I'm doing something weird.  If anyone has overcome this hurdle and would like to offer some expert advice, I would be greatful.
    Thanks!
    Blake

I tried that and had no luck.  I've even tried having no code running or symbols loaded and putting a different stage color to check when the loading is complete. I get the same 6 second load followed by the stage color showing.  So it definitely seems it is just the loading of the .swf that is causing this long pause.
Has anyone successfully published an iPad app that did not have the long black pause?

  • 27" iMac, ATI 5750, Bootcamp3.2 and the occasional black screen with XP SP3

Wanted to share my experience with the subject setup and potentially save somebody a lot of time and frustration. My installation would occasionally work. Sometimes it would boot into a black screen and sometimes it would work perfectly. I tried a lot things:
    1. Deleting the bootcamp partition and clean install.
    2. Renaming AppleHFS.sys, etc to *.old.
    3. Downloading and installing some mobility graphic drivers from downloadatoz.com.
    4. Downloading and installing the desktop graphic drivers from amd.
    5. Using 7zip to unzip the bootcamp3.2.exe file and manually extracting and installing the graphic drivers.
    6. Following the directions from Apple support article TS3173.
Everytime I thought it was fixed, the black screen would appear again. One of the comments I read on the forums really struck a chord with me. "XP is getting long in the tooth." So, I ditched my XP SP3 disc and bought an OEM, 64-bit disc of Win7 Professional. So far, this has worked perfectly with absolutely NO black screens (even during installation) on my 27" iMac with the ATI 5750 graphics card.

So, a little update on the situation...
I tried repairing the WinXP installation from the install CD and it did not solve the problem.
Right now I'm trying to completely reinstall Windows XP (SP2 this time) and the Apple drivers to see where the problems start to appear (at WinXP SP2 install, at the SP3 install, at BootCamp 2.1 install,...)
Also, something quite important I forgot to mention in my first post is that the problem appeared after cloning the BootCamp partition from another Mac (iMac 20" Alum) using Mike Bombich's NetRestore tool.
If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it!
    thanks

  • I have the dreaded blue screen need HELP????!

I was just downloading the updates and then the computer restarted and the screen is blue, mouse still works. I was looking at other articles for bluescreen but it was for an installation of Leopard problem. The program I have in my computer is 10.2.3.Somebody wrote to hold down control and s. it took me to single user type screen that looked like MSDOS. I put /sbin/fsck -fy which they stated to do. I pressed enter it said something but I forgot what. I restarted the computer and now when it is loading up it stops when it says waiting for application services. I think I dug myself in a bigger whole when I typed that stuff in the MSDOS type screen. SOMEBODY PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME OUT OF THIS WHOLE?

  • The Dreaded White screen (display) issue

    Hey guys,
I have the ol' white screen problem. I can mount, restore, and everything just fine but instead of showing menu's the screen shows a white screen.
I have tried all the 5 R's and even restoring again and again. From what i've read here (since my ipod is out of warranty) I'm pretty much screwed and will have to buy a new one. My question is if I wanted to replace the broken part myself, would this be the logic board?
All of this started because I dropped my ipod 2ft onto carpet at work
    Thanks

    Try http://www.iresq.com
They sell replacement parts, but not the logic board.

  • New twist on the dreaded white screen when renting movies

I have been hit with the nasty white screen after renting a movie. After reading the discussion forum, this is apparently a "personality" issue with ATV and Apple has not yet found a fix. However, after performing the "pull-the-plug" reboot, which in the past has corrected the problem, I now have a new problem. When the main menu appears after reboot, it is frozen and it does NOT respond to the remote. The only command it recognized was the menu + "-" reset command. When it resets and comes to the screen asking for restart, diagnostics, or factory reset choices, the remote works. But when you select restart and get back to the main menu, it freezes. (I ran diagnostics and ATV says it feels fine.) For some reason, a bug is preventing atv from recognizing any remote commands. Right now I am in the 24hr movie viewing window, and I will let that period elapse to see if the corrupted white screen rented movie just dies its deserving death and releases the main menu back to my command.
I guess my ultimate ploy would be factory reset, but then aren't I put back in the position of re-syncing my 6,000 songs, and photo library?
    Anyone else have this glitch??

    yes that's correct.

  • After HP support replaced Motherboard, the window 2008 r was running okay after few days I got a Black Screen stating windows is not genuine

After HP replaced the motherboard, and few days later I got a black desktop and windows not genuine afterwards. Any suggestion what I should do. I tried to use Microsoft support website on the server, and it will not let me proceed to any of their site.
The browser display security certification invalid. Any help would be appreciated.
    Kind Regards

Have you tried re-activating your copy of Windows? Eg, either using the prompt that appears or going into My Computer properties and checking the activation status at the bottom of the page?
From memory, when you activate a copy of Windows it makes a note of the currently installed hardware (spec, serial numbers etc) so you can't just copy all the files onto another machine and use it there. My guess is that the setup has changed enough for
it to no longer recognise it as the same machine (though I thought it normally takes a few elements changing to trigger that reaction), and so thinks it's no longer genuine. Getting Windows to activate again may work, otherwise you'll probably need to phone
Microsoft to get them to sort it out and allow it to activate again.
