Day Events do not conflict

I am having a problem with day events in the calendar. When I create a meeting, I tend to check conflicts with people before I schedule it. There has been several times when I thought people could attend but couldn't because they had a day event scheduled and it didn't show as a conflict.
I am using Corporate Time 5.2, and am upgrading to 9.0.4.2 very soon. Has this been fixed, or is it not considered a bug?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Michael,
Day events are not blocking entries, only meetings are, therefore they will not appear as an entry with conflict.
In the 9.0.4.x release, we've introduced a feature that allows you to define meeting status as free or busy. A meeting marked as busy will block off your time and appear as a conflict if someone attempts to schedule you at the same time, while a free one will not. At the moment, this capability is only available for meetings and not day events/daily notes.
Therefore, it would be better for users to use meetings to indicate unavailable times.
Thanks,
Lily

  • Yosemite Calendar - All day events are not showing

I have been using  Apple Calendar for quite some time but after I upgraded to Yosemite All day events does not show in the calendar any more. Other events in my calendar is showing.
    Environment:
1: I'm on Macbook Pro Retina, running Yosemite 10.10.1
    2: Calendar is version 8.0 (2026)
3: I am using Google Calendar, added as account to Calendar
    Problem/Bug:
This has been working fine on Maverick until this upgrade and I think it is a bug in Calendar.
    1. I tried to add an all day event from Calendar, using my Google account calendar
    2. Event is saved, but once saved it isn't shown in Calendar.
    3. When I login to my Google account calendar, the event I created just created is shown nicely there!
I then tried adding a new calendar using my iCloud account, but same thing happened:
    1. I tried to add an all day event from Calendar, using my iCloud account calendar
    2. Event is saved, but once saved it isn't shown in Calendar
    3. I once again try, this time by logging into my iCloud account, the event I created just created is shown!
This is really weird and a major issue as all-day events are kind of important to see when you are planning and scheduling meetings.
One additional thing, I'm not sure if it is related, I have Time zone support turned on as I am working across multiple time zones.
Anyone else that have encountered this?
    Thanks in advance.

I  have the same proble. In all views all day events don't show up. If I search for the event, there is a result but it does not appear in the calendar.

  • "All Day Events" Do Not show up in wiki calendar

    Hello;
Anyone find out how to solve this problem? I have a 10.5 ical server. Extensive use of calendars both individual and group. Users have access to wiki calendars from ical on their macs. The intention is to allow users of other operating systems to view wiki calendars however none of the all day events display at all on web page/wiki calendar.
    Thanks.

Hm, I opened it up in Aperture once, but I recently (re-)arranged all events in iPhoto. I had the full hierarchy in there and did not work in Aperture. I just had to recreate the library and after that the events were gone.

  • All day events do not appear in iCal 5.0

Even if I enter a new all day event in iCal, it disappears right away, but it is still synced to MobileMe. So on my iPhone/iPad, they're all there. but iCal stays "clear"... anyone having the same issue?

    Hi,
Have you made sure that Show All-Day Events under iCal's View menu is checked?
    Best wishes
    John M

  • All day event not appearing in month view

If I know there is an all day event on a day and I click into it from month view it is there. But for some reason I cannot see any of them from moth view. There is no colored or gray bar indicating an event.
There is one in week view. And if there is a timed event it appears in month view.
In a separate, and puzzling, event I lost all my events. Putting them back in, but not sure if this happened with 1.4 or new Facebook update.

There is an old thread on this issue. Its by design that all day events do not show up in month view and not a bug. Many users (myself included) would like this to change. I suggest using the feedback and feature request page to let them know.

  • Calendar/All Day Event NOT SHOWING ANYMORE!!

First of all this is the reason why I bought a BB. When I got the phone in Sept all of  my All Day Events would pop up first thing in the morning and not go away until I dismissed them. Now, don't know what has happened my all day events do not pop up anymore! This is really really bad.  For unorganized people like myself this option was the sole reason why I bought this phone and I need to have this back!
And also, how frustrating is it that they don't have a customer support number where you can talk to an expert to resolve your problem.  Thank god I am slightly computer savy.
    Can anyone please help!!!
    Thanks

I also lost most of my birthdays that I laboured to set up in my address book contacts. Can anyone please help on these disappearing calendar events?

  • Latest Organizer update in the Blackberry Desktop Software does not sync Outlook 'all day events' in Calendar properly

    On my Blackberry Torch 9810:
When syncing with Microsoft Outlook 2007 for an 'all day event' in Calendar, Outlook stores the appointment as from 12:00am to 12:00am so Blackberry Organizer thinks it is an appointment for 2 days rather than one.
So for example if you make an 'all day event' entry for Feb 25 in Outlook, Blackberry Organizer syncs it on the device as an "all day event" on Feb 25 and Feb 26.  Very annoying indeed!
Technically Outlook should store it as 12:00am to 11:59pm for a one day
event.    But since they don't, I hope Blackberry will fix Desktop Organizer
Software to cope with this issue and send out a new update!
Does anyone know anything about this?

I was getting a similar problem... birthday and anniversary and some other all-day events (but not all!) in Outlook were being set to either 1pm-1pm or 2pm-to-2pm, from the day before to the day of the actual event.  e.g. my New Years Day event was being set as starting 31 Dec 1pm and ending 1 Jan 1pm.  The 2pm vs 1pm difference seemed to correlate to the times of the year without/with daylight savings.
Presumably I'm seeing 1pm or 2pm and not 12am-12am due to my own time zone (GMT +10).
I made the change recommended by Bifocals and it has fixed this problem.  However, I did need to -manually- go through and change all the events in Outlook back to be proper all day events - that did not happen automatically.
For those (like I was) wondering how to set the "the corresponding options on the Blackberry"... you open the Blackberry Calendar, then hit the application button, then scroll to Options then General Options.  The Start of Day and End of Day settings are what need to match Outlook.  FYI, I have a Bold 9000 and am using Outlook 2007.
I'm really hoping that when I next upgrade my Blackberry software that it retains this setting change.  I find it really annoying that some (or all?) other settings (e.g. Mobile Network: Data Services & While Roaming) are reset to defaults on every software upgrade, meaning I have to remember what I set and to go back and set them again after an upgrade.  Grrrrr.....

  • E71 - Full day events not showing in homescreen...

    Hi all
as the title of my post says, full day events are not showing in the homescreen calendar before they start, but they are displayed once they have started...
this is a very weird behavior !

Sorry I posted this in Mavericks. I can't find where to move it, so please close it. Will repost in correct group.

  • ICal all-day event problem

iCal on my iPad worked fine for a while. Now, many of my all day events (but not all of them) are showing up a day early on my iPad on week view. Everything is fine on all other devices (iPhone, MacBook) and all is fine on iPad on day, month and list view. All timed events are in the right place. But all day events in week view are a disaster and turning off the iPad isn't helping. Any advice?

Did you travel out of your home time zone and first notice the problem then? I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Apple Care while I was in the Central zone (I live in Eastern) and nothing the supervisor suggested worked (deleting the account, resetting, turning ipad off, etc). They'd bumped me up to a supervisor because the regular guy had no idea. Supervisor said no one on the internal tech board had seen that particular problem. The final assumption was it was a software glitch on my ipad--the advice was a complete restore which was going to have to wait until I returned home because he said it would take too long over the Verizon mi-fi I was using while traveling. Anyway--I got home to Eastern time, immediately pulled out the ipad to do the restore and all the all-day events were in the right place and have remained in the right place since then. My best guess is that it's a time zone issue but it doesn't make much sense. All my timed events stayed right where they were supposed to be the whole time (time zone support turned off).

  • All day events showing incorrectly in iCal

I published my Exchange 2010 calendar for others to view in iCal.  I can subscribe to the calendar, however all day events are not being displayed properly.

One more thing, it prints just fine in Month View. Bizarre.

  • Calendar alerts for all day events

Am I missing something??? Is there anyway to set an alert to go off on the date of an all day event but not at midnight the night before? It would be so much better if the user could choose what time the alert should go off, like 9am for instance. Who wants an alert at midnight!

Isnt there any other way than doing it manually? I have a lot of birthdays and anne. saved on the contacts info on my outlook with the alert set to go off at 8 AM but as the previous person said....all alerts tend to go off at 12 midnight which is quite irritating.

  • Adding a new day event?

Okay... so I'm trying to add a day event to my calendar using the Java API. When I use this date format:
    DTSTART;VALUE=3DDATE:20050317
    ...I get this error:
    CAPI_STAT_DATA_ICAL
However, when I use this format:
    DTSTART:20050317T120000
... it works fine, but that's not a day event. What do I need to do to add a day event? Note that all other fields are exactly the same between these two examples.

    Hi Bart,
The error CAPI_STAT_ICAL could be the result of storing the quoted-printable string DTSTART;VALUE=3DDATE:20050317 with the flag CSDK_FLAG_STREAM_NOT_MIME.
If using that flag, the parser won't understand the parameter VALUE's value (3DDATE is not a valid value for the VALUE parameter).
Also you need to specify the X-ORACLE-EVENTTYPE property.
Here is a valid day event:
    BEGIN:VCALENDAR
    VERSION:2.0
    PRODID:-//ORACLE//NONSGML CSDK 10.1.1.0.1 Beta 4
    BEGIN:VEVENT
    X-ORACLE-EVENTTYPE:DAY EVENT
    SUMMARY:new DAY EVENT
    DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20050328
    DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20050329
    CLASS:PUBLIC
    END:VEVENT
    END:VCALENDAR
Let me know if this works for you?

  • Sync all day events

All day events will not sync from my iCAL to my iTouch. All other events do sync. Can you help me? Thank You

    First, please check as follows.
    * Launch iSync.
    * Click the icon of your phone.
    * Check the calendar (category) you'd like to sync is checked.
    * Click "option".
    * Check "Sync all day event" is checked.
I can sync all day events by this way, but have trouble on my N73.
All day events are synced as "meeting" starting from 12:00am to 11:59pm.
In iCal, I have a lot of all day events including holidays, so the weekly view is full of black bars covering whole days.
Should it be synced as "notes"?

I hear this problem is partly solved on iSycn 3.0 in Leopard.

  • Any way to make a day event show as a conflict?

I've asked this in the past, but don't remember the answer.
Is there any way to create a day event so that it would show up if someone did a 'check conflict'? Currently our department uses day events for many things, and we run into problems because people create meetings because they didn't find any conflicts. However, some people are actually not available because they have a day event for that day.
If there is no way to do this now, is it planned for a future release?

    Hi Michael,
Unfortunately, day events are non-blocking events so they are not reported when you check for conflicts. It is something under consideration for a future release.
    Thanks,
    Lily

  • Old All-Day events not showing in Calendar List View

Reviewing events in my Calendar on the iPhone and have noticed that All Day Events that are older than one year do not show in the "List" view
For example, I have all my holidays in a calendar called "Vacation". Month and Day view list holidays from earlier than today (09 Sept 2008) properly, however list view shows nothing. Timed events (e.g. day trips) in the same calendar show.
Similarly no Birthdays appear in the past. I can see a case for Birthdays being omitted in the past, but not other events (e.g. wanting to know exactly when you went to that all day wedding last summer)

I have this same exact problem. For me, past events that have a specific time associated with them show up in List view; however, past events that are all day events only show in List view once in a blue moon only. Apple support has been absolutely clueless about this issue. They just tell me it's weird and they have no explanation. It's unbelievably annoying though.
