Daylight savings/Alarm Clock Issues

Since DST, my iphone3G enjoys waking me up the hour before my alarm is set. Granted this could be worse, it could be the hour after... Anywho, need a fix, because my mental sanity is on the line here, I cannot keep hitting the snooze button for the last hour of my precious sleep!

For me it was an hour after. I was upset because my wife's job called at 4:30 and I get up at 4:45 so I just went about my business until I got downstairs for some coffee and found out that I should have already left for work. I was going to be a half hour late to work and since I work by the hour, there goes half hour pay gone. I rebooted the phone and the time corrected itself but does anyone know whether this will occur again or if this is a one-time occurrence.
I have been waiting for iPhone 5 because I am eligible for upgrade but I here that iPhone 4 also had this issue so not sure which way I will be going.

I upgraded to 5.0.0.973 and now I have issues with my alarm clock not displaying the time while charging at my bed side.  I have Verizon and tried using the latest upgrade from Sprint. 5.0.0.1030 but the alarm clock issue remains. Rolling back the upgrade I am told would be one answer, but is there a way to dispose of the offending file somehow might be a good fix.  Totally frustrated with BB at this point.  One of the few things l like about my phone and they mess it up!!  The Droids and the I-wanttobetrackedeverywhereIgophone is looking attractive these days.

Well i have the same issue, let me go over the items i have done.
First did the OTA upgrade. Issue happened.
then i downgraded to .886. worked normal.
Updated with Desktop Manager. Issue happened.
Wipe of Device to see if software conflict. Issue still happens.
also done several batteries pulls to see if that would fix it. still issue happens.
I've just downgraded again to .886 and it works. at this point i am going to be staying with .886 unless a fix is found for .973.

  • Daylight Savings Alarm - One Hour Late

The alarm clock went off exactly one hour late today. We live in Arizona which doesn't even use daylight savings so I am really confused about why it did this.  This morning it showed 4:40am then my boyfriend's boss called wondering where the heck he was, and as soon as the call ended it showed 5:40am. I've read the forums and searched the internet for similar problems but they all look to have been last year around this time or around March of 2011 and mostly in Europe.
    What happened?

  • Nokia N8 Belle Alarm Clock Issue

I was finally able to update my N8 to Nokia Belle a week ago and was reasonably impressed with it's attempt at an Android Froyo kind of thing, it is a step in the right direction. However-
I set a several alarms for between 6:45 and 10am today (I'm a fairly heavy sleeper). I snoozed the first alarm by turning over the phone to give me a few more minutes of sleep. The next thing I know, my sleep is breaking and it's 9:32am! All without a sound from any of my alarms.
I looked at my phone, and saw the box with 'Stop' and 'Snooze' on it, for the 6:45 alarm, as if it had just been activated and was waiting for me to choose either option. I pressed 'Stop' to get rid of the box and suddely similar boxes for all the other alarms started popping up in rapid succession, only then. What happened???
I was willing to wait 6 months past the original release date because I assumed such bugs were being sorted out properly; a smartphone shouldn't still be grappling with Alarm clock bugs - it should have better things to do. I'm hoping there's a quick solution to this problem, as I cannot wait two years for the next update. Please advise!
Also why does shuffle deactivate everytime I return to my song list? Seems silly, really - I don't want to have to keep turning it back on.

    First thing First!
AlarmClock: Being Honest! theres no such issues with the Default Alarm app. U might hav done sumthing unusual during sleep or your app had been crashed or it might b buggy or may b sum RAM issues.
    Its not a General issue.
I myself is a Heavy sleeper lke You!
    I too set 7 Alarms within 6:30 - 10:00 range.
All works fine with my Nokia N8-00 Belle.
MusicPlayer: Yeah! this had been a big problem for Music lovers that when you are Dazzling on SHUFFLE mode & once you clicked on a particular song in a list, the SHUFFLE is de-activate itself.
It might be a problem for Some people, but Logically speaking If you are in A Shuffle mode, u should not interrupt the playlist, if you do it gets deactivate automatically.

  • Alarm Clock Issues

I created the alarm clock app and it works fine from when I self start up, but it does not auto wake to the time I set in the energy saving options menu. I tried letting it completely shut down and start itself up and just sleeping, but neither would result in it starting and running the app. Are there any minor details I could be missing?

What's wrong with you? Oh, now that you realized you made a mistake and I didn't say "Alarming"? The app tited "Alarmed" is the first thing that pops up if you search the App Store using the search term "Alarmed". It is also the name of the app as it appears on the screen of my phone.  Oh, and the developer refers to it as "Alarmed" on his website. It may not have occured to you but, it is possible for more than one app to have the same name. Most of the people here are smart enough to figure out which one is the alarm clock by reading the description. But, we've already covered the reading comprehension thing,

  • IPhone Alarm Clock issue after iOS4.0 upgrade

    This is a strange one;
Upgraded to i0S4.0 couple of days ago, and since then the default alarm clock app has gone haywire. It has duplicated each of my alarms (I must've had about 9 in there fore various things) about 50 times.
If I try and delete them, they disappear but if I exit and then re-enter the app, they're all there again!
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers.

I'm having the same issue. I had 8 or 9 legitimate alarms set, as well, but now there are somewhere between 1500 and 2000 with a couple hundred duplicates of each one. The number of duplicates is growing, too, but I can't tell if the additions happen each time I sync the phone or each time the clock program is reloaded on the phone. I noticed this first on my 3G after upgrading it, and it is also happening on the iPhone 4 having all my data transferred from a backup made of the 3G running 4.0. I've also noticed that if I try to delete them from my phone, at some point the clock program becomes nearly unresponsive causing even other programs than the clock to crash and requiring the phone to be resynced.
I've seen a couple of people mentioning similar issues in other threads that sound like they could be related or even the same, and they are always talking about upgrades on the same phone. There doesn't seem to be anyone affected who transferred directly from a 3.x device to a new 4.0 device.
While not a solution, here's at least my suggestion of why it's happening. I've poked around a bit in the backup files stored on my laptop from this phone (under ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync), and I've found two different plist files in the same backup storing the alarms in two slightly different formats.
This is purely conjecture, but I would guess what happened is the location & format between 3.x and 4.0 of where the alarm data is stored changed. The "upgrade" isn't a complicated process that mulls over and handles situations like this during the install. It's just a wholesale firmware replacement. Any changes like this would probably need to be handled by the actual programs themselves when they're running on the phone. Something in the upgrade process that's supposed to translate the old format to the new format is broken leaving behind the old data instead of removing it after the conversion, and every so often some trigger in the clock program (like a check for new data after a sync or just the initial loading when the phone restarts) is causing it to see that old 3.1 style data still there, redo the conversion process, and reimport what it finds as another set of duplicates.
That's only a guess, though, and as it's a one-way backup-only folder I can't edit them and resync to see if cutting them out of the data files on the laptop will remove them from the phone. Even if this is wrong, though, I can't imagine how it could be anything too far different from this. That would be a very simple bug to introduce into the code that would be specialized enough to be easy to overlook in testing. Again, that's all just a guess.
While I'm making wild speculations: I'm guessing the problem with the phone needing to be resynced when deleting several alarms is from one of these files on the phone storing the alarm data getting corrupted. If I was a betting man, I'd say this is likely due to corruption making the XML of the plist malformed from different threads writing changes to it simultaneously because it's so huge from all these entries and seeking through the file to update it is taking longer than anyone would reasonably expect and test for or program to protect against. Because, honestly, who thinks while coding something like this, "I need to make sure the user is safe when editing 2000 alarms..."

Dreamweaver CS3 crashes after Daylight Savings Time ends
    Issue
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 crashes when working with certain PHP
    or ASP files in
Code view or Design view after the clock goes back one hour,
    when Daylight
Savings Time ends. The crashes only occur when selecting
    certain lines in
Code view, or selecting certain objects in Design view. The
    crashes only
occur in files that have PHP or ASP code, intermingled with
    HTML code. The
crashes do not occur in Dreamweaver 8 or earlier (Ref.
    229536).
    Reason
The Dreamweaver CS3 WinFileCache-7A9586CB.dat file has been
    corrupted by the
    time change.
    Solution
    1. If Dreamweaver is open, quit the application.
    2. Delete the WinFileCache-7A9586CB.dat file from the
    Dreamweaver user
configuration folder. Note that on Windows, the Application
    Data and AppData
folders are hidden by default, so verify that your Windows
    Explorer folder
options are set to View Hidden Folders. The location of this
    file is as

    * Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application

  • 5G Oddities - Alarm clock and audiobooks

My 5G ipod is a wonderful toy but I've noticed a couple of oddities that I wonder if anyone else has experienced. They both relate to switching away from video playback - i.e. I had been watching a video on the ipod before ...
In both cases the iPod is sat in a powered dock.
    1) When watching video & using the sleep timer to turn it off (falling asleep infront of a very small TV) the alarm clock doesn't seem to sound the next morning. When I fall asleep to music it works fine.
    2) When navigating away from a video to an audiobook (through the audiobook menu - though not if chosen as a "song" or "album") the audiobook plays back like an old 45 set on 33.
(for you "youngsters" who have never played with vinyl records that means "slowly" ).
    Can anyone else reproduce this?
    iBook G4, Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Thanks, I had searched for the alarm clock issue but only remembered the audiobook one as I was writing it. Unsurprisingly that's the workaround I came up with.
My guess would be that the same problem is affecting the alarm clock operation
so when they fix one they'll probably fix both. In the meantime I should probably just stop falling asleep to video if I want to get woken up by my iPod.
    Thanks again.

  • Nano 4g will suddenly not work with alarm clock. What happened?

As of the last time I synced it, my iPod nano 4g will not work with an alarm clock. What happened? It doesn't work with mine or with my roommate's, and her iPod will work with my clock. My iPod will PLAY in the clock dock if I turn it on and hit play, but won't wake up and play anymore as an alarm. I tried setting the alarm on the iPod instead of on the alarm clock, and that doesn't work as a fix (it won't make the clock wake up). ARGH.

Yeah, mine won't work. Just started acting up this week.
It doesn't work at all. I can set the alarm for any time, and it simply doesn't go off. I got a replacement phone of the same LG Accolade model, and it doesn't work either.
I switched the clock display settings, thinking there might be a glitch there. Didn't work when I changed it, or when I put it back to my original settings.
    Agh!
    Hi Robert116,
Please ensure that you have software version VX560V04 installed on your phone. For instructions to view software version please visit this LINK.
If you do have the correct software version a LG Accolade VX5600 - Master Reset may resolve the alarm clock issues outlined on your post. A master reset will resolve issues if any of your phone's system files became corrupted.
Please keep in mind that a master reset will erase all data and restore preferences to factory default specifications. Performing a hard reset is only recommended when the existing data has been backed up or is unwanted. Please backup your information before you do a master reset.

  • Nokia Lumia 720 Alarm clock not working

My alarm clock is set and activated but it does not go off in the morning. On all my previose Nokia phones this has never been a problem. i turn my pnone off at night.
My previouse Nokia phone was the E7, a great phone. On the keypad you had the option to go up, down left or right to correct any mistakes written etc, on the Lumia720 this feature is absent.
I can not get the email to leave a copy of my mail on the server once retrieved on the phone, POP mail. i need to be able to retrive this on my PC at a later stage, not a problem on the E7.
last but an issue, i can not send a MMS out or an attachment even though i have a 3G signal, if I leave mobile data on then the phone connects to all sort of stuff and runs up the usage, not an issue with the E7
Moderator's note: We provided a topic-related subject as the post was moved to the appropriate folder.

Ok so I will get over the alarm clock issue by carrying a second phone which I normally do as I travel foreign a lot and get a local sim card for the country travelling in. I have been in the habit of turning my phones off at night except when abroad where my home phone is on in case of an emergency at home, I do not appreciate being disturber after work hours by clients. The battery life is a lot longer when the phone is switched off at night even if the phone is in a sleep mode.
I gather I will just have to come to grips with the lack of being able to place the curser wherever I wanted but the feature on a keyboard is good and will be missed.
Now for the issue of my mail being removed from my server when accessing it with my phone, there does not seem to be a feature when setting up a POP3 email account, where you can retrieve Headers only or Msgs and attachments. I need my mail to go to my office PC besides being able read them when on the move. On the older version in the Sync content section when setting up a new account you had the choice.
The mail issue is a problem though.
They should be built to survive a 3M drop.

  • Daylight Savings started in my country... Alarm clock time did not change

    Hi,
DST began in mexico. My iphone clock is set to "Mexico City" time zone and the clock indeed adjusted automatically to DST this past sunday.
The iphone alarm (not a 3rd party app, but the original iphone alarm app) is what had a weird behavior... the time for "Alarm 1" was displayed to be set at, say 7am. But the alarm went off at 8am!
The time shown in the app for all my alarms is correct but they are all coming off one our late of the time shown; as if set at the pre daylight savings time.
    Please Help.
FWIW, all my calendar (exchange-synconized) appointments are working correctly.

I found that even though the correct time and time zone where set on my iPhone, it depended on what my iTunes account time zone was set to. I had relocated country recently, and because I had to open a new iTunes account in my new country of residence, my iPhone alarms and calendar reminders would pop up depending on what iTunes account I happened to be singed in with. So I closed my old iTunes account, and thus elimiated the problem of accidentally singing in with my old itunes account that was set to a different time zone. Hope this helps someone, as I was frustrated for months before I discovered this. Cheers.

  • IPhone 4 Alarm time since daylight savings started

Hi, I'm in Adelaide Australia and our daylight savings started Sunday morning. Since then, clock automatically updated like it should. However, when my alarm went off, it went of at 7am instead of 8am (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SET TO 8AM), and just then, my 6pm alarm has gone off at 5pm! It seems like the alarm part of the iPhone hasn't registered the rest of the phone has changed to daylight savings time. This has also happened to a friend of mine at work. Help! I don't want to change my alarm to 9am to wake up at 8am, something about that just would not sit well with me. Thanks.

There is a fix coming... this has been brought up before.
4.2 beta fixes it, so it should be all over in November.
Look, I agree that this is annoying.
I have to set my alarm each night, or set it in the calendar if I want it recurring.
    That's not too hard.
They should fix this, and we will all go nuts if they don't.
But to say you can't roll out 40 iphones till this is fixed is surely mad?
We're talking about alarms, in the clock,
    not the calendar.
I would be more worried about the apparent proximity sensor, glass breaking, antenna issues, and the poor people who despair over the lack of bluetooth file sending that seems to keep popping up on this forum daily!

  • Daylight Savings Time and Time Zone Issue:

Howdy!  Many of us woke up this morning to be dismayed to find that our iPhone was TWO hours behind instead of falling back one for the Daylight Savings Time adjustment, and were late for church.  I have an iPhone 4S, with iOS 5...
I was working at that time of morning, and the initial switch went well.  However, when I woke up, the clock was yet another hour behind.  A little investigation showed that the Time zone had been changed to Denver (It was previously on Chicaco, and I live in Dallas.)  I tried to select it to change it, and it wouldn't allow me.  If I turned off the Set Automatically feature, then I could change it, but when I turned the Set Automatically feature back on, it would re-set the time zone to Denver.
I found another thread where they discuss this:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16644669
To fix this, put in airplane mode, then back out again, then re-choose your correct time zone.  If this doesn't work, then try turning your phone completely off and then on again.  Thanks to 4n6doc for the tip!
The airplane mode trick worked for me:  I turned airplane mode on, then off, then went to the Date & Time and set my time zone to Dallas, TX while the Set Automatically was off.  When I turned the Set Automatically back on, it changed Dallas to Chicago, which is what every iPhone iOS I've ever had has done.

    Hi,
Yes this is a correct way to fix the issue. One thing however, how did you set the timezone? For correct daylight saving handling, you'll have to use the long version, like America/New Yorw, NOT GMT-5 (for example).
    regards,
