Daylight Savings for Arizona

Has Apple compensated the new Daylight Savings for Arizona, USA? We do not change our clocks, rather, we "switch" between Pacific and Mountain time zones.
Thanks and of course points will be applied.

Madok,
You asked: So, like in the past, has Apple taken into account our unique situation with their latest updates?
According to About the Mac OS X 10.4.6 Update (delta): Makes Mac OS X aware of United States Daylight Savings Time (DST) changes enacted by the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

  • SAP systems and Daylight savings for 2007

    Hi,
    We are discussing about the Daylight Saving time changes in USA for 2007 and its effect on SAP Systems.
    <i>"Beginning in 2007, most of the U.S. will begin Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and revert to standard time on the first Sunday in November."</i>
    Wondering, if we need to change any variable settings to take into effect? If so, could anyone give details on it.
    Wondering if SAP systems time is getting sync with Database servers or O/S ?
    Thanks,
    Sam

    Hi,
    The beginning of daylight saving time is normally not a problem as the time will jump from 2:00 to 3:00, so seen from SAP that no problem. You will only have a 1 hour hole, as the system had nothing to do for one hour.
    So there are no settings or so to maintain or change. Just let SAP system run...
    But it is different when switching back to "normal" time, as there you will have the so called double hour, and even as SAP is working on a solution to this, it is still recommended to shut down the SAP system for this period.
    (searching for the term "daylight saving time" in OSS should give you some notes explaining how SAP is handling it)
    As i know SAP system is taking the time from OS, but you can se what time the SAP system has, by in the GUI menu to select the "system" => "Status"...
    (In the Popup you can se it in upper right corner)

  • How to handle SQL code for Daylight Savings for MST Time zone

    Hi,
    1. My time zone is MST. My data showing differently as day light saving started from November. Please help me how to handle these issue.
    2. After Mar 09 2014 Daylight saving going to end.( For this how to handle in the SQL codes)
    Please answer for the above 2 doubts.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Hi Abdul,
    Daylight saving is basically like switching to another timezone. If your normal time zone is Mountain Standard Time (MST), you will switch to Mountain Daylight Time in the summer.
    If daylight saving or timezones are a concern. It is best to store your dates in a DATETIMEOFFSET(0) column. This data type includes the offset between your selected timezone (MST or MDT) and UTC. The offset between MST and UTC is -7 hours and the offset
    between MDT and UTC is -6 hours.
    Be sure to datetimeoffset(0) and not just datetimeoffset. datetimeoffset(0) uses 8 bytes to store it's data (same as datetime), but datetimeoffset uses 10 bytes. This is especially important if you are going to index this column.
    Also be sure to use a similar data type in your application or the timezone information will be lost. If it is an .Net application you should use The DateTimeOffset type. Most other programming languages have equivalent types.
    Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions please let me know.

  • Daylight Savings Updation in java.util.TimeZone

    Hi,
    I used the java.util.TimeZone for converting the local time to GMT time. I was getting the correct time conversion details. With respect to the Daylight savings for certain timezones, the util library was providing me correct details. However, certain countries have the option of changing the Daylight savings in future. So, in that case, how the Daylight Saving changes will be updated to the java.util?

So, in that case, how the Daylight Saving changes will be updated to the java.util?By keeping your Java version up-to-date. One of the things you get when you download the SDK/JRE is an equivalent of the Unix TZ database. Most timezone changes are agreed years in advance, although I believe that DST changes require only 1 year's notice.
    There is also a [url http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/tzupdater-readme-136440.html]Timezone Updater Tool if you just want to update TZ info in isolation, but I've never used it myself.
    The above applies to virtually all timezones you're likely to use. For very obscure ones, or for building your own, you may have to follow the instructions 833545 provided; but I'd advise against it for anything except testing.

  • Time Conversion from Local to UTC Help! - Daylight Savings Problem?

    Hi,
    I am trying to use the generic conversion of local time to UTC time.  I thought I had everything working since I use the "Get Date/Time in Seconds" and then convert to "Seconds to Date/Time" witht the "to UTC" flag set true.  Then I convert back to a timestamp.
    I thought I had everything working until I hit Daylight Savings for the Pacific Standard Time.  Now the Labview is off by 1 hour!
    Is there an update to the Subvi's that do this?  Is this a known error?  Please help.   Thank you!
    Attachments:
    test25_LocalToUTC_Time.vi ‏8 KB

    Here is the path you are doing that is causing the logic to fall apart for you.
    1.  You are getting the current time.  In your images, it is 12:41 pm PDT which is 7:41 pm GMT
    2.  You are asking for the date/time record (that cluster that breaks out everything) but are saying it is UTC, so you get a date/time record that 19:41 UTC (7:41 pm).  And the DST flag is 0.  (Because UTC doesn't observe daylight savings time.)
    3.  Now  you are taking that date/time record and converting back to an actual date/time.  You don't wire up the UTC flag so it defaults to false.  Thus the date/time record is interpreted as local.  That DST flag is still 0 in your cluster.  So you are actually converting the time to 7:41 pm PST, which is actually 8:41 PDT.  (+1 hour for spring forward based on the month/date info.)
    4.  You are displaying that time stamp in the indicator labelled "Current Date/Time (UTC)", but it is not truly UTC, it is actually the conversion of a local time from PST to PDT, and it is not even the current local time.  It is actually a "local" time 8 hours into the future.  If you put the carat into that indicator's display format, you'll see that the UTC time is in the future as well.  You call it UTC, but you are displaying a future local time.
    The inconsistent conversions from local to UTC, and not accounting for the change of the DST flag from daylight time to UTC are what is confusing you.  You kind of get lucky during standard time because the DST flag is 0 for both local standard time and UTC.  But the conversions are still wrong, but it is a case of two wrongs are making it look right.  Even in standard time your input timestamp and your output timestamp indicator don't match which you would see if you used an Equals? function on them.

  • Daylight savings all-day events issues in updated iCal for iPad

    After purchasing new MBP, Genius Bar told me to update to new iCal. I have noticed that any all-day events taking place on the date that daylight savings begins (3/13/11 i.e.) lasts on iPad's iCal for two days. When I attempt to edit, event still displays for two days. Guessing it is because that day technically lasts for only 23 hours. Genius Bar consultant had no suggestions for a remedy. This error appears for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 daylight savings beginning dates. The error doesn't seem to be a problem for the MBP or my iPhone.

    I've experienced the same problem.  I set up a recurring one day event on the first of each month - come April 1 in 2012 the event is spread over 2 days (the end of daylight savings time in Australia) from April onwards.  I can muck around with the event and have it set at one day from April1 onwards in 2012 but there's a recurring event bug related to daylight savings.  I wonder if any alarms people have set for that day will again experience the problems from the past?

  • Outlook 2011 for mac daylight savings time issue

    Hello,
    I have a problem in my company where after daylight savings time meetings are shown an hour off in the calendar, but in the body of the meeting the time seems fine. The real problem is when after updating the meeting from it's body (just pressing save and
    close) the meeting is bloated by an hour.
    E.g. if a meeting after daylight savings time is from 11:00 to 12:00, it's shown on the calendar  from 12:00 to 13:00, but after updating the meeting it's shown from 11:00-13:00.
    This happens only on the macs in the company.
    Thank you.

  • Entourage Calendar Updated for Daylight Savings

    I have used the software update for the adjustment to daylight savings. When I look at my calendar in Entourage, it is showing appointments scheduled after March 11th an hour later than they should be. Will this auto correct when the time changes? What about appointments scheduled now, should I be taking the time change into account?
    Thanks,

    Hi Sarah,
    I had the same problem. If you click on the Help menu in Entourage, and select "Check for Updates", there are likely two updates you will need. My issue resolved after the first one.
    I recommend you use Disk Utitlity to repair your disk permissions before and after you update any software.
    Hope this is your solution!

  • Best Practices for Daylight Savings

    Are there any Best Practices to adhere to concerning Daylight Savings around jobs?
    Are there White Papers that discuss this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    I think each case might be different and you'd have to test for your situation so I don't think you'll find a policy.
    We used to set system queue to zero during the time switch...
    Not on Tidal 6, we currently let it roll as we didn't see any negative impacts during overnight processing. All our windows servers are 2012 R2. We also don't have jobs that absolutely locked in at a certain time that coincides with Daylight savings. Agents will work on jobs if they were told do by the Master, stay active and report back when they are done regardless of time springing ahead or falling back.

  • Daylight Savings Time for the USA

    I am trying to add a new entry for the new daylight savings time change implemented in the United States in a 4.6C system.  I am trying to make the change per SAP note 919538.
    The problem is when I go into transaction STZBC, and try to add a new entry for the USA, after I input what was stated in the SAP note and try to save the new entry, I receive an error "Choose the key from the allowed name space".
    How have others implemented this change?  I am unsure of modifying the entry that is there already for the USA since the sap note says to add a new entry.
    Regards,
    Doug Slupski

    Hi Doug
    Isn't this message informational only?? It does not show as an Error. If you hit Enter a couple of times, it should go thru...
    I am not sure if it will wipe out the previous entry under the Key "USA"from the table.
    Make a note of the previous values before u hit enter.  After you have made the change, check if it overwrote that value.
    If not, then you should be fine..If yes, chnage the value under USA to he original values and open up an OSS message.
    Hope that helps..
    Thanks

  • COREid and Daylight Savings Time for 2007

    Do COREid or any of its components require any special fix in order to comply or function properly with the new Daylight Savings Time for 2007?
    Background:
    In August of 2005 the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy Act,
    which changes the dates of both the start and end of daylight saving time
    (DST). When this law goes into effect in 2007, DST will start three weeks
    earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later
    (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than what had traditionally
    occurred.
    Thanks,
    Craig

    We have experienced many problems with DST and COREid in the past; most of them resulting in hung Access server and unavailability. I don't know if it's because we have components distributed across multiple time zones or what. Our plan is to have someone available at the time change to cycle the services (and maybe the server as a whole) and do a health check after the fact. I hope this helps.

  • IPOD and Mac did not properly adjust for Daylight Savings Time

    Hi, I have noticed that my iPod and my Mac Mini do not appear to have the latest update for Daylight Savings Time.  There were a few adjustments this year that do not seem to be reflected on the Mac devices  ???  I was using my iPod for time and was thrown off when time change before DST went into affect.

    So, in your system preferences on the mini, under Date and Time, you have the box checked that says "Set date and time automatically"? Then, on the time zone tab, you have selected your correct time zone? I typically leave the box there unchecked that says to try and set automatically using current location.

  • Phone didn't change for daylight savings

    my droid 4 did not change to daylights savings time last night, and I was very late, and what is up with that?  this has never happened before.  It finally changed at about 10 AM, as I was sending a text.  all settings on the phone are correct for automatic time changes.   has this happened to anyone else today?

        Hello Sciaccajan
    I'm sorry you were late! The issue you experienced was very odd. It may have been a delayed signal or an application that interfered. Please power down the device remove and reinsert the Sim card and retest. This will force the device to see all the towers.

  • Calculating time for different timezone, problems with daylight savings?

    Hi all,
    I try to convert my locale time to a different timezone (like a world clock does). This worked until Europe got "summer time". Then my time calculation went wrong. I just paste the following coding to give you a quick reproducable code.
    I did a lot of googleing but nothing found so far. Also search here in the forum didn't help me solving it. So now I created a post on my own.
    The output of the Java programm is the following (without the colored comments). I just entered these comments to show you where the calculation is right and where it goes wrong.
    I have absolutely now idea about where the chase the error. I am only guessing with "daylight savings issue".
    Hopefully anybody has a good idea.
    Thanks in advance

    You should not set the time zone on the calendar since you want the calendar based on UTC.
            List<TimeZone> list = new LinkedList<TimeZone>();
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Europe/London"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Europe/Berlin"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Australia/Sydney"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("America/New_York"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Asia/Bangkok"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Asia/Hong_Kong"));
            Calendar cal = new GregorianCalendar(); // Regardless of your timezone this holds the number of milliseconds since 1/1/1970 UTC.
            for (TimeZone tz : list)
                SimpleDateFormat formatter = (SimpleDateFormat) DateFormat.getDateTimeInstance(DateFormat.MEDIUM, DateFormat.MEDIUM);
                formatter.setTimeZone(tz);
                System.out.println("\n" + tz.getID());
                System.out.println("daylight shift in millis: " + tz.getDSTSavings());
                System.out.println("Is in daylight savings: " + tz.inDaylightTime(cal.getTime()));
                System.out.println(formatter.format(cal.getTime()));
            } I have no idea whether or not this then gives the results you expect.
