Daylight savings - on & off settings

I have set the clock on my wife's iPod to take into effect daylight savings starting in Australia. We also have London time on the iPod- (Extras > Clock) but there is not an option to turn daylight savings off, so London time is showing one hour ahead of the actual time.
Any ideas??

Thanks for the suggestion, but this doesn't effect the clocks in the Extras>Clocks as they are seemingly based off the time set on the iPod. i.e. if I set the time an hour ahead, the London clock is still out.
On my 5th gen iPod, as you are probably aware if you have an Extra > Clock you could press the centre of the click wheel to bring up an edit screen to change things like daylight savings. I thought the new nanos would have a similar feature.
Cheers,
Adam

  • IPhoto 9.2.1 displaying wrong time on photo after changing back from daylight savings time

Europe went back to standard time (from daylight savings time) on Sunday morning, Oct. 30.  In my Nikon D7000 I changed the time accordingly by retaining the time zone (UTC+1) but switching Daylight Savings to OFF.  The times on the photos display correctly in the camera and in Finder.  They also display correctly in EXIF-O-Matic.  In iPhoto 9.2.1, however, they display with one hour added.  Has anybody else encountered this problem?
Just tried to reproduce the error but could not.  Without changing any of the time zone settings I shot a photo and imported it into iPhoto.  The time in iPhoto is now correct.  I am absolutely sure that I set Daylight Savings to OFF in the camera before taking any photos on Oct. 30.  Perhaps the problem has to do with importing on Oct. 30, the day of the change?
    Regards,
    Richard

You should not be importing that Library.
Never import one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
You simply restore the Library from Time Machine and then open it.

  • Iphone calendar off by 1 hour after daylight savings

i have my iphone synced to my outook 2007 through an exchange server. after daylight savings this weekend, all of my appointments are now off by 1 hour. they are all correct in my outlook and on the exchange server (verified by web browser). i've tried deleting the exchange account from the phone and reinstalling, but that doesn't work. also, when i try adding a new appointment on my iphone, it shows up off by one hour in the exchange calendar. my iphone is currently showing the correct time.
anyone know what the heck is going on?

I also had success using this method, from above:
On iPhone, go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Scroll way down to Time Zone Support. Note that it's listed as GMT-4. Turn slide button to OFF, then back to ON. Note that it automatically goes to Washington, DC (GMT-5).
    Calendar appointment times now correct.
Time on the iPhone updated automatically for daylight savings, but the Time Zone Support function didn't make the one-hour shift; they ended up out by an hour from one another. Forcing Time Zone Support to refresh its settings was all that was needed.

  • Problem with time settings after daylight savings

Ever since the time was returned to normal from daylight savings time, the time on my Blackberry Pearl 8100 is out by one hour (1 hour slow). I set the correct timezone under Date/Time Options and set the Date/Time Source to 'off'. Also, the network time is 7 hours slow since I returned from an overseas trip recently. Can anyone please help?

Sounds like you may need the DST Patch installed on your phone.  Go to www.blackberry.com/dst2007 on your device and follow the steps.  It is very easy to do

  • Alarm turned off after daylight savings change?

Hi. I woke up late this morning. I know I set my alarm last night. Last night was the change to daylight savings (forward one hour). Ok, I'm human, so of course being asleep, I can't be 100% sure I didn't turn it off without waking... we all have done that right? :P But I'm fairly certain I didn't, and am wondering if this may be a software glitch. I don't want to wait 6 months to find out when it changes back.
iPhone 4 fully updated. Alarm set to 5:30am

It seems that because of the structure and communication of Apple corporation, the Apple telephone support staff may not necessarily know any more than a thoughtful user, and almost certainly will know less about this particular alarm issue than a user who peruses these forums. For example, they didn't know that turning off Time Zone Support is another way to temporarily solve the problem (as an alternative to changing Set Automatically to OFF) - something I learnt from an Apple discussion.
This problem was raised in these discussions in June of this year for users in Lithuania and in Sri Lanka. It was New Zealand's turn in late September, and Australia's turn on Sunday. My guess is that Apple will scramble to fix the issue before it hits USA users in November, but why rush until then, when it's only users from other parts of the world (non-Americans) being affected?

  • Why are my appointment off an hour after daylight savings time

After daykight savings time, my appointments are showing 1 hour early.  I live in Arizona, isn,t my phone smart enough to know this and not adjust appointment times?

I fixed this problem by going to system preferences--mail, calendars--and turned off time zone support. When my iPhone didn't change time for daylight savings, i had changed the time manually and apparently this moved my time zone from SF to Anchorage. After disabling time zone support, all my appointments were correct. You can also disable tim zone support withon the iCal application on a mac.

  • Alarm incorrectly going off since Daylight Savings Time

My alarm is always set for 6:30AM Monday through Friday.
Since Daylight Savings last week, my phone has consistently gone off at 5:30AM, and the 6:30 alarm doesn't go off. If I set a later alarm, say for 6:31AM (in addition to the 6:30AM alarm), my phone will go off at 5:30, and then 6:31... disregarding the 6:30 alarm.
I have deleted my alarms and then rebooted the phone, and then added the alarms back in. Unfortunately, my phone keeps going off an hour earlier than it should.
Last night I set an alarm for 6:31AM and deleted the 6:30 alarm, and my phone went off at 5:31, disregarding the 6:31 alarm.
Any ideas on how to fix this, or am I doomed to wake up at 5:30 the rest of my life?

Or you could expect a product that you pay for to work as it's supposed to.
    I don't disagree with that.
The iPhone, and ALL smart phones are highly complex devices. There are several hundred different programs all interacting with each other, in addition to the phone operating system.
This software is constantly being changed and updated. Certain versions will be stable with certain applications. Updates can cause bugs (like the clock not working).
I am a pilot. I do not use the navigation programs on the iPhone. I use a FAA certified navigation system, because I need something more reliable.

  • Access policy issues and daylight savings

I have the WRVS4400N. I have purchased a few Linksys routers in the past and have been happy with their operation. The wireless access however, was mediocre until I purchased this model. This model has great a great wireless connection. I like the fact that I can make many changes to the settings on the router without having to reboot the router. The performance of this router in combination with the cable modem has been excellent. It far outperforms the equipment that it replaced. I will normally pick a linksys product over another brand.
I am having 2 intermittent issues that are really causing me grief and an additional couple of annoying issues. I need help in fixing these issues. I have confirmed that I have the latest firmware version.
    1) Some computers do not have connection to the internet. As if the security policy is confused about the time or connection. I really think this is a security policy issue, but I will let you decide.
    2) There are some computers that I allow a 24/7 connection to the internet. For the rest I don’t want them to have access between the hours of 12a-6a. I have found that the connection doesn’t always shut-off. I have kids and do not want them to have access during those hours. I never had problems with my previous linksys router.
    3) I am unable to set an access policy that spans the 5 min between 11:55p and 12a. In my previous linksys router I could.
    4) The new daylight savings schedule is not part of my current firmware. This really threw off my security policies.
I have found that if I reboot or if I simply goto the security policy screen and click on save settings it seems to correct itself. But, I shouldn’t have to babysit it to make sure that it’s working correctly. When I am out of town I need to know that my security policies will continue to work while I am away.
    Here’s my set up:
    1) I have a linksys cable modem that connects me to the internet through my cable provider.
    2) I have the linksys wireless (WRVS4400N) router that connects to the cable modem.
    3) I have a 3Com Superstack II switch as the backbone of my network which connects to the router.
    4) I have several devices connected to this router: computers, xbox, vonage phone line.

This is EXACTLY what my router is doing...
    2) Access restrictions do not work, PERIOD...."ALLOW" will disable internet access for the entire subnet (regardless of the rule), and "DENY" will prevent uploading of file attachments to hotmail, myspace, facebook etc....for every computer on the subnet.

  • Daylight Savings Time in Calendar Bar

I am in Australia and we have  also adjusted the clocks to Daylight Savings Time -
I am using an Iphone  5 with IOS 7.0.2 and all settings are set to time zone Sydney, in both  Date and Time and Calendar.
The  calendar shows the correct time at the top of the screen but the red  bar that identifies the current time is showing pre DST - quite bizzare?
My Ipad is showing the same as is my wifes Iphone 5 (also updated with IO7)
    I suggest this is an IO7 glitch/bug - anyone with a solution?

It's not just an hour late issue. My 3GS alarm went off an hour early this past Saturday. I tried to reset the alarm for the desired time and it didn't go off. Then my girlfriend's alarm on her 3GS did go off an hour late this morning.

  • Australia Daylight Savings shifted my Calendar by 1 hour

I'm in Australia on the Optus network. This weekend we went on daylight savings time. The phone picked up the time ok, but now everything in my calendar is off by one hour.
I have the iPhone synced with my Outlook calendar via Exchange. I've tried everything I can think of on both the phone and in Outlook and nothing works (manually syncing calendar, manually setting time, etc). The times in Outlook are correct though.
    Any ideas?

Try it again. There's a setting there for time zone which I just discovered. I had the same problem as you yesterday morning (my alarm woke me at 4.00 am instead of 5.00) and I couldn't work out a fix for the problem since I only looked in the time settings under General.
When I looked at the time zone support settings, I noticed that they were set to the Sydney time zone. I changed that to Brisbane and then changed the time settings in General back to automatic and the time stayed correct.
I had thought it was a bug in the iPhone's software but now I believe it was simply that I had the time zone set to Brisbane in the General date/time settings and to Sydney in the time zone support settings. It's certainly working fine with both set to Brisbane.
Why aren't these settings in the one place? That's what I think should be the case.

  • Daylight Savings Time - Calendar Problems

When I checked my calendar this evening (i.e. since daylight savings came into effect) I noticed that some (not all) of my scheduled events have been pushed back by an hour. I looked at my Outlook calendar and everything is in the right time slot. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Does anyone have a fix?

I had similar problems with the calendar on the iphone until I set BOTH timezone sections properly. That is, there is a time zone entry for Date & Time, and one for Calendar, and both should be set, regardless of whether you have "Automatic" and/or "Time Zone Support" turned on or off.
So, under Settings>General>Date&Time, turn "Set Automatically" off and then pick your correct time zone. I also turned on "Set Automatically" after setting the proper time zone there.
Then, go to Time Zone Support and turn that off, then pick your correct time zone. I leave the support off because I always enter my calendar times for local time in the time zone I'll actually be in (e.g., a 10:00 meeting in London is set for 10:00 in my calendar even though I live near philadelphia, because it want it to be set for 10:00 when I'm there in London).
Ever since setting both time zone sections, I've not had any problems. It turned out that the date&time setting was set for cupertino, though I never noticed it because set automatically was turned on. So even though I'd set my calendar time zone properly, odd things happened because somehow the cupertino time zone was effective for certain things.
    Anyway, just a few thoughts.

  • Daylight savings patch?

Do you have a daylight savings patch to update the time on the routers now that Daylight savings is all changed?
I just upgraded my firmware and it did not patch the timezone error, any ideas.
What I did in the interim is adjust the timezone settings to a correct one, and turned off daylight savings adjustment to get my timezone correct but that is a pretty goofy way to have to do that.

I submitted the following error report to Linksys yesterday:
Do you intend to provide firmware updates for your router products in support of the new Daylight Saving Time Law? I own the WRT54GS Version 6. -Thank you.
    To which they replied:
    Dear Valued Linksys Customer,
Thank you for contacting Linksys Technical Support.
The WRT54GS v6 supports daylight savings time already and complies with current daylight savings time law. All we have to do is to enable it. It can automatically adjust for daylight savings time once activated. That can be found at the bottom of the router's setup page.
We would love to hear from you again. Any feedback from your end is very much welcome.
    Thank you for choosing Linksys.
    To which I replied:
I am very sorry, but you are very wrong!  I am a network engineer, and am also a programmer who has written time conversion software - including changes to incorporate the new Daylight Saving Time law.  So, I know what I am talking about.
On August 8, 2005, the United States enacted a new Daylight Saving Time law adding four weeks to the length of Daylight Saving Time.  Canada (and possibly other North American countries as well) followed suit.  This new law became effective this month (March, 2007).  The start of Daylight Saving Time has changed from the first Sunday of April to the second Sunday of March - and the end of Daylight Saving Time has changed from the last Sunday of October to the first Sunday of November.
I have the Linksys wireless router model WRT54GS Version 6 with the latest firmware installed (v1.52.0 - January 16, 2007), and I DO INDEED have Daylight Saving Time already enabled.  The router is STILL using the OLD, OBSOLETE Daylight Saving Time law!
If you would take the time to check the Linksys Forums, you will find many other dissatisfied and angry users who are reporting the same complaint!
I suggest that, next time, you do your homework before making such a hasty and erroneous reply to an error report.
I look forward to your reply - and the Daylight Saving Time fix in your next firmware update.
    Thank you.

  • Daylight Savings in Australia

Why didnt my iPhone (Model MD234X) ver 5.1.1 (9B206) update the time for daylight savings when the Automatic Time option was selected? I understand that my OS is not up to date, but this should be irrelevant when it comes to an issue like this. On that note, if I was confident of having a working Maps application (or if I could get an official Google Apps Map app) I would update straight away.
    Is this an isolated incident?

It may be of note that as soon as I turned off the automatic time in the date and time settings, the time on my phone went forward an hour.

  • Daylight Savings Time not changing

I have a Verizon Wireless iPhone 4 and the time didn't change for daylight savings time today. It is set to do it automaticly and I also tried to sync it to see if it would change but it didn't. Any advice?

I, too, suffered the same problem with my iphone 4, os 4.3. My phone did not spring forward an hour, unless I turned it off to do so automatically in the settings. However, my son has a 3gs and his phone DID spring forward. Same house, same AT&T, same os, same everything except for the type of phone. Very strange. I restarted my phone two times, but the only thing that would make it spring forward was to turn off "Set Automatically," then it moved, but if I turned it back on it would go back an hour. Erg.

  • Daylight Savings Issue [Melbourne, Aust] on iPhone 6Plus

Has anyone had issues with your clock not changing for daylight savings [Melbourne, Aust] on your iPhone 6Plus?
I am running on IOS 8.0.2 - daylight savings came into effect Sunday morning, Oct 5 - my Date & Time is set to Auto.
When I checked it was defaulted to Brisbane - if I switch auto off the default changes to Melbourne. So I reset to auto > on - again defaulted to Brisbane.
I switched auto back to off, turned off iPhone to ensure it sets.
Switched on iPhone - Melbourne time ..... went into settings - changed Set Automatically to 'On' - and again defaulted to Brisbane time.
I've had to switch Set Automatically to Off to overcome this issue.
My son has iPhone 6Plus but has not updated to v8.0.2 and his clock automatically updated.
    TIA

This seems like it might be similar to the problem I was having. Please see the following thread for the solution:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1791145&tstart=0
It worked for me, give it a shot.
