Daylight savings patch - Treo 750 Windows Mobile

Sorry because I see so many items when I search and I just can't find what I need (i just spent an hour on the MS site as well and it kept giving me articles and not downloads.)
Can someone pls provide me the palm update link?  I already did the Outlook update last year and thought that was it but I just noticed that my device is now an hour off between the 19th and maybe 26th.  I also had to reset the clock on my handheld the day after because it did not change (my computer did, though so I think it is just the device that is 'off.')
thx in advance

  • Daylight savings patch?

Do you have a daylight savings patch to update the time on the routers now that Daylight savings is all changed?
I just upgraded my firmware and it did not patch the timezone error, any ideas.
What I did in the interim is adjust the timezone settings to a correct one, and turned off daylight savings adjustment to get my timezone correct but that is a pretty goofy way to have to do that.

I submitted the following error report to Linksys yesterday:
Do you intend to provide firmware updates for your router products in support of the new Daylight Saving Time Law? I own the WRT54GS Version 6. -Thank you.
    To which they replied:
    Dear Valued Linksys Customer,
Thank you for contacting Linksys Technical Support.
The WRT54GS v6 supports daylight savings time already and complies with current daylight savings time law. All we have to do is to enable it. It can automatically adjust for daylight savings time once activated. That can be found at the bottom of the router's setup page.
We would love to hear from you again. Any feedback from your end is very much welcome.
    Thank you for choosing Linksys.
    To which I replied:
I am very sorry, but you are very wrong!  I am a network engineer, and am also a programmer who has written time conversion software - including changes to incorporate the new Daylight Saving Time law.  So, I know what I am talking about.
On August 8, 2005, the United States enacted a new Daylight Saving Time law adding four weeks to the length of Daylight Saving Time.  Canada (and possibly other North American countries as well) followed suit.  This new law became effective this month (March, 2007).  The start of Daylight Saving Time has changed from the first Sunday of April to the second Sunday of March - and the end of Daylight Saving Time has changed from the last Sunday of October to the first Sunday of November.
I have the Linksys wireless router model WRT54GS Version 6 with the latest firmware installed (v1.52.0 - January 16, 2007), and I DO INDEED have Daylight Saving Time already enabled.  The router is STILL using the OLD, OBSOLETE Daylight Saving Time law!
If you would take the time to check the Linksys Forums, you will find many other dissatisfied and angry users who are reporting the same complaint!
I suggest that, next time, you do your homework before making such a hasty and erroneous reply to an error report.
I look forward to your reply - and the Daylight Saving Time fix in your next firmware update.
    Thank you.

  • Daylight savings patch glitch

    Hi,
I downloaded the daylight savings patch without a problem. Unfortunately, now all of the times on my Entourage calendar during Daylight Savings season have been moved ahead 1 hour. This is driving me nuts for meeting times. Any suggestions other than double checking/manually changing each and every engagement?
    Many thanks! Judy

I assume this was a Microsoft patch and not the Apple one that caused the problem. For some reason, this is the way Microsoft chose to approach the problem. We applied their Exchange patch at work and it did the exact same thing to everyone's calendar items. I have no idea what they were thinking; it seems totally illogical to me.
Are you connected to an Exchange server, perhaps?

  • Treo 750 T Mobile and Picture Messaging

I have an unlocked Treo 750 and I have spent hours on the phone with T-Mobile.  Right now the phone will not accept MMS messages; it deletes the picture. T-mobile is trying to solve the problem, but in the meantime no pictures.  They said the firmware may need to be changed.  Any ideas?

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
Please forgive me, but the only thing I can think of right now is a hard reset. A hard reset will erase all data on the device and restore settings back to default. Be sure to back up your information on a computer by syncing it.
For further information and instructions on a hard reset please view the instructions below:
    Soft reset
    Instructions for the Treo 750:
If charging, disconnect your smartphone from its charger.
Turn off wireless mode by pressing and holding the red Power/End key .
Turn off the screen of your smartphone and wait a few seconds¹.
Open the Mini SD card slot cover (located on the side of the Treo 750) and locate the Reset button.
Using the stylus (located on the top right of the Treo 750) briefly press the tip of the stylus into the locating hole for the Reset button.
Hard resetIf a soft reset doesn't solve your problem, you may need to perform a hard reset, which deletes all data on your device, including Outlook information and add-on applications.
    Warning
Before performing a hard reset, please read the section below regarding what data is backed up during an ActiveSync synchronization and how to restore your data.
A hard reset deletes all information and third-party software on your smartphone.
Never perform a hard reset without first trying a soft reset.
You can restore previously synchronized information the next time you sync.
Some third-party applications do not create a backup on your computer when you synchronize. If you perform a hard reset, you may lose data in these applications and you will need to reinstall the application after the hard reset. Please contact the developer to find out which data is backed up during synchronization.
    Why perform a hard reset?
A hard reset can tell you whether a persistent problem stems from your smartphone or from an application installed on it. If you do not experience the problem after you perform a hard reset, the problem may be related to software you installed.
How to perform a hard reset
If charging, disconnect your smartphone from its charger.
Take off the battery door, but don't take out the battery yet.
    Press and hold Power/End .
While holding Power/End, remove the battery for approximately one second, then replace it while still holding Power/End.
When you see "Erase all data?" you can release Power/End. Press Up to confirm the hard reset.
If a language selection screen appears, pick the same language you use in your desktop software.

I am not familiar with your provider, but it's possible that the "modem" settings need to be changed. If you go to Start > Settings > Connections tab > Connections, and click Manage Existing Connections, can you match the device settings with the settings from your provider? (Note: that is based on WinMo 6.1, so your menus may vary.)

  • Daylight savings patch for US - Canada 2007

I see that Apple supposedly patched DST for USA-Canada 2007.
However, I went to a tech article that suggested using a
    foo$ zdump -v /etc/localtime | grep 2007
    command in terminal.
I got the following which indicates that DST is still the old way:
    /etc/localtime Sun Apr 1 09:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Apr 1 01:59:59 2007 PST isdst=0
    /etc/localtime Sun Apr 1 10:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Apr 1 03:00:00 2007 PDT isdst=1
    /etc/localtime Sun Oct 28 08:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Oct 28 01:59:59 2007 PDT isdst=1
    /etc/localtime Sun Oct 28 09:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Oct 28 01:00:00 2007 PST isdst=0
    What gives?
Running 10.4.8 with all updates done.

Well I fixed it the hard way - manually doing the following:
The localtime file is actually just an alias to another file, as seen here (line break added for narrower display):
    foo$ ls -lah /etc/localtime
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 37B Jan 8 06:19 /etc/localtime ->
    /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Vancouver
To fix the problem, you need to update the source file:
Go to this nih.gov server and grab the file tzdata2007a.tar.gz. This filename may change over time, as new updates are added to the database. Just copy and paste the FTP URL into Safari to start.
Extract the contents of the archive to a local folder (Stuffit Expander does a fine job if you don't know how); my folder is called tzdata2007a.
In Terminal, cd into that folder and run the following commands. Note that the modifications I'm after are in the file named northamerica. However, some modifications where made to the europe and africa files as well, and the last command, zic backwards, will complain if you don't include them. Here are the commands to run:
    foo$ cd /path/to/tzdata2007a
    foo$ sudo zic europe
    foo$ sudo zic africa
    foo$ sudo zic northamerica
    foo$ sudo zic backwards
That's it; you're done. Check your results with the original command again:
    foo$ zdump -v /etc/localtime | grep 2007
You should now see Mar 11 and Nov 4, instead of the original Apr 1 and Oct 28. Much better!

  • Daylight Savings patching and XE

  • I'm new to iPhone (4) and need to transfer all my contacts from Treo (windows mobile)...any tips?

I'm new to iPhone (4) and need to transfer all my contacts from my old Treo 750 (windows mobile)...any suggestions?

You need to import the contacts with a supported address book application on your computer.
With Windoze, this can be with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes, or with the address book application used by Outlook Express with XP and by Windows Mail with Vista and Windows 7 called Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only.
There should be Palm desktop software available for your computer that includes the Treo contacts which should include an option for exporting the contacts in a format that is supported for import by Outlook or Windows Contacts.
Syncing contacts with a supported address book application on your computer is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

If you perform a full reset on your device by holding in the power button, and removing and then while still holding the power button reinstall the battery, you then will be prompted to erase all data on your device (all data will be lost with this process so you need to make a backup of any data you may need) choose the up segment on the 5-way nav button, your device will restart, and arrive at the alignment screen, align the screen, set the time zone, and date and time, and then you will be asked for the language of choice, if this device is from Europe then you may have the choice for French language. If not then this device does not have the proper firmware load and would require this change to get French.
There is no official way of getting a Firmware change from one region to another. This would require a device to rewrite the ROM, and the proper ROM version to use. Any 3rd party firmware upgrade to another language could render the device useless.

  • Please Help! How do you sync sub contacts with windows mobile

I have a Treo 700wx (windows Mobile 5.0) that will not sync my sub contacts from outlook (windows XP Pro)!  I have been able to sync all other email and the parent contacts file but can not find the sub contacts.  I am in sales and have used sub cntacts to organize sellers, buyers, others and really need this to be on my phone.  Can anyone help me with this?  Thank you!
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Alltel)

i will just assume that what you mean about the sub contacts are the sub-folders in your outlook.
im sorry to tell you that subfolder synchronization is not supported by the activesync of windows mobile.
you need to install a third party application to have it sync to your phone.
the application that's being used some is the pocketmirror for windows mobile.
it can sync public folders, subfolders and business contacts folders.

  • OT: USA Daylight Savings Reminder

Hey gang, Daylight savings in the USA is happening this weekend which is earlier then usual. Make sure you launch software update, download, and install the daylight savings patch if you haven't done so already.
    Stooka
    17" MBP, G4 DP 1.25 Logic Pro 7.2.3   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2gig ram

    Many thanks for the reminder.
But do a software update because of DST? DANGER WILL ROBINSON! I suggest changing the clock MANUALLY and not risk whatever damage the lovely software update can potentially create (as they are known to do)... This goes along with my rule of "never update unless there's a known benefit". And if I can set my clock manually, then IMO there's no known benefit to updating. Unless there's something I'm missing here...

  • Sync Windows Mobile Treo 750 with Vista 64 bit, FINALLY DID IT!

I have just spent 3 hours trying to set up sync between my Treo 750 and my new Vista 64-bit computer.  Here's what I learned:
You have to download the Windows Mobile Device Center and its update (that's why some people felt they were downloading twice).  Even after the second download, it still didn't work, so I was told to uninstall both, then I was directed to the following link, where it only had to download once -- http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center.mspx
Once I did that, I kept getting an error message that my device was not recognized, and the mobile device center
said the device was not connected (and the proposed solution on the computer was to replace the device).  I tried the things that others have mentioned on this forum, but it still did not work.  After talking with AT&T, they suggested I do a soft reset on the phone.  That is what finally worked for me EXCEPT that each time my phone "timed out" (the display went blank), it would say it was not connected again.  I finally kept touching the screen so the display would not go blank.  Another option is to change the amount of time it will stay on before timing out, which I may do if this continues to be a problem when I sync in the future.
I hope this information helps someone else along the way.  It has been quite a frustrating process, as are many other things when transitioning to a new computer.
