Db 11G : don't start LISTENER SERVICE in automatic services

I have installed DB 11G but when i restart the server the services named
OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener
don't start automatically.
I must start it manually!!
What kind of problem is this ??

i have found this
The OracleOraDb11g_home2TNSListener service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

I am facing problem while starting OBIEE services.
Error Message: The configuration file (C:\obi\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\config\fmwconfig\jps-config.xml) was not found or is inaccessible.
I tried staring services through EM and OPMN, however I am getting the same error (in Presentation, BI Server, Scheduler, Cluster Controller log Files).
It's a cluster environment and I am able to start obiee services on node 2, however node 1 gives the error as mentioned above.
How can I resolve this issue?

I checked FMW_SECURITY_SERVICE_URL parameter in the NQSConfig.ini file.
This parameter is using VIP (admin server listen to this) and not the actual IP of the server.
Should I change this URL and point it to actual IP.
What is the procedure to change this parameter using EM?

    Hello Sam,
the problem seems to be clear.
    - At first you have stopped the listener twice. The first time it was i     successful and the second stop command failed which is correct.
    - You have to start the listener now -> command "lsnrctl start"
The only thing that looks a little bit strange is:
    > Connecting to (ADDRESS=(COMMUNITY=SAP.WORLD)(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=usstubw02)(PORT)
There is no port specified. Have you changed the listener.ora file?
If the "lsnrctl start" command fails, please post the listener.ora file and the error at startup.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Start and Stop Listener service -Oracle 10g

Please, How I can stop and start listener service? My question is because I have "Oracle Instance" Oracle NT Service" in start up options in manually (i need to have them in way).
Platform: Oracle 10g.10.2.0.1.0 / Windows XP Professional.

    If I understand your issue....
    C:\> net start <listener service name>
    and
    C:\> net stop <listener service name>
where <listener service name> is exactly the service name you see in Services panel.

  • 11.1.2.1 Upgrade to existing 11.1.2 - Services don't start

Not a fun day in EPM world for me...
Windows 2008 SP1 three servers (web/app, DB, reporting)
We did the upgrade in place from 11.1.2 to 11.1.2.1 and was successful no problems rebooted however none of the services start (we have done the upgrade only on the web/app and test to ensure Shared Services come up)
We blow out the regedit (as per Oracle in a service request) and rerun the Service install bat files. Services are there, we reconfigure via configurator all is green..yet the services still do not start
ok looking for other avenues on this problem
    JTS

Sorry for the delay on this. We have found on the maint in TEST that it wipes out the services and we have to reinstall via the bat files.
When we try to start the services we get an error on Foundation Services
Error 14001: The Application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.
It appears what we did may have updated the Visual Studio C++ from the delivered 2005 to the 2008 by accident. What we would like to do is remove the VS C++ 2008 but unsure how to do this.
We are getting in our log files the same error as this
Financial Reporting Error: "Error Connecting to Database Connection: Com/hyperion/ap/adm/HssConn" (Doc ID 1301030.1)
Which leads us to that update. Oracle hasn't provided much response
I don't want to uninstall and do a clean install but would like to uninstall the 2008 and then trick the system in reapply the 11.1.2.1 maint release
or if anyone else has ideas I'm listening

  • Problem With Listener Service: Long Delay Starting Listener, Intermittent Connections

I am having trouble connecting to my Oracle database.  I'm not sure what the cause was, but now when I connect to a database that has been working fine for the past two years, I usually get a ORA-12541 error.
I run lsnrctl status on the server and get a prinout like this:
Copyright (c) 1991, 2010, Oracle.  All rights reserved.
    Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=dqaswn02)(PORT=1521)))
    TNS-12541: TNS:no listener
    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
      TNS-00511: No listener
64-bit Windows Error: 61: Unknown error
    Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=EXTPROC1521)))
    TNS-12541: TNS:no listener
    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
      TNS-00511: No listener
64-bit Windows Error: 2: No such file or directory
I've also tried manually stopping the service via services.msc and then restarting via lsnrctl start, but when I do this I get a really long delay (10+ minutes) before it returns with something like:
TNS-01153: Failed to process string: 0í≈♥
I'm pretty lost as to what is wrong.  I've been messing around with listener.ora, but I don't see anything problematic in there.  Here's a copy:
    # listener.ora Network Configuration File: E:\app\myc0714\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\listener.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

    LOG_FILE_LISTENER = LISTENER
    TRACE_LEVEL_LISTENER = SUPPORT
    TRACE_FILE_LISTENER = LISTENER
However, a few times during this I've been able to connect to the server, via sqlplus, but it has taken 10 minutes before the connection comes online.  Once I'm connected, I can query my tables as expected, but I need an application to connect.
If anyone has any ideas on what could be wrong, please let me know.

When I opened up netca, I didn't have any listeners configured, which seems very strange.  When adding it, I get this message in the cmd window:

Please, if somebody knows this problem I need a very urgent help. Thank you very much.

Thanks ALL, I GOT IT, but I used other solution.
Since I installed and uninstalled the Oracle several times, it keeps also many different Services for the listener. I don't know why, it didn't create a Service for my actual instalation with its path. In other words, all the services remained in the services.msc panel, had the path that was already removed from the Windows folder.
Then what I did, was that I picked one service, took its name (OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener), went to regedit to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener] and simply changed the image path that was setted for the one that was removed (C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_2\BIN\TNSLSNR ) for mine that is installed right now
(C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\BIN\TNSLSNR). Nothing more and finally works.
I have tried something in the services.msc panel before, as you can see in this forum at the thread "I can't start listener in the Control Painel/Admin Tools/ Services", but I never got
    success.
    Appreciate your time!!

  • Auto start BI Services for OBIEE 11G

    Hi,
We have installed OBIEE 11.1.1.7 on Windows 2008 64 bit operating system and we have restarted the server after successful install.
Now the issue is OBIEE is not accessible after reboot,it is running only if i run the Start BI Services under All Programs --> Oracle Business Intelligence --> Start BI Services and
this not accessible once i log off from the server.
I don't want very time login and start the obiee using all programs, instead i want to install a Windows service that will all run the BI Services,so that Users can access the OBIEE independent of
    my login.
I tried many times installing the services for  Admin and BI Server but even though the services are install/running successfully, but still not able to access the OBIEE URL.

Trying to re-install iTunes and the message "Apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." But I don't know what to do? Please can someone help, I'm not the most technologically advanced person.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • Windows listener service will not start automatically

I just installed 11.2.0.3 Standard Edition One and when I reboot the server, the listener service is not started. The service is set to start Automatically. I have to login, open services and then push start.
    The oraceServiceSId does start automatically,
The listerner service does not start automatically,
The dbconsole service does not start automatically,
The processManger1 service (from middleware) does not start automatically
This is Windows 7 64 bit.
    Any ideas?

I found where the services logs are recorded in the event viewer. Funny thing just happened, I was just about to do another reboot so I could check the logs when I noticed there were window updates in q.
So after running the updates, the os requested to reboot . For the first time, the services started automatically.
These are the updates which fixes the probem:
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2639417)
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2618444)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2620712)
Cumulative Security Update for ActiveX Killbits for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2618451)

So now we have to manually restart the listener and service , for the database to be opened. Is it possible to give direction what areas need to check, to solve this issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi Krithi,
Can you confirm my understanding here:
    * Since a short time the automatic startup of the listener and Oracle instance fail.
    * You can manually startup the listener and database instance without any problem, and then all runs as expected
    so far so good?
What's your procedure to start the listener and DB instances?
Are you performing the startups with your own user account, or SYSTEM, or a dedicated Oracle account?
Are the windows services running under SYSTEM, a dedicated Oracle user....??
Could it be that the system administrator installed something (like a new Oracle client) which would have changed some settings?
Can you compare the environment variables (ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH) between the account YOU use for manual startup and those for the user account used to (auto)start the services?
Maybe you can try to plan a reboot after you have set the problematic services to run under your profile?
Well.... a few points to investigate if not yet considered.
    HTH,
    Thierry
