DB Adapter call when DB is Down -- No BPEL Instance created

I have a simple DB Adapter BPEL Process. Works well. Now I shutdown then database. Problem is when I initiate BPEL Process via the BPEL Dashboard, I get the following message:
Cannot find the specified instance
If the instance has recently been initiated, the invocation data may not have been delivered to the engine yet. Refresh your browser window or try again in a few seconds.
I find no trace of this BPEL process, “Flow, Audit and Debug” all show the same message for ever!!!
Any comments would be appreciated.

When you initiate the process, the DB Adapter looks for the relevant dehydration store which logs the deployed bpel processes.
So, you need to have your db up, and also, mention the exact error messages being logged after turning the debug on for activation, messaging loggers in BPEL Admin.

Hello - I want to set MARS up to monitor my firewall and email server to make sure they're up. If either of these devices appear down to MARS I want MARS to notify me via its modem and analog phone line. I see where you can set up a pager or SMS. I'm using a Verizon Wireless cell phone and I can't find a way to receive a page. SMS won't work if the email server is down or can't get to the Internet. Has anyone else tried anything similar to this? Maybe there is a better way. I appreciate any ideas! Thanks

ISPs usually offer a SMS gateway solution. Usually it has multiple methods to generate/send a SMS msg e.g. email, web URL, manual, scripting API etc.
You could have the MARS send an email as an action for your rule. This address would be the SMS gateway address provided by the ISP. You might also need to tune the Unknown Reporting Device rule if you wish changing its duration/count etc.

What method will be called when an javabean terminates?

Hi,
I am using a java bean in my jsp application with scope "application". I know that this java bean will be terminated only when the server stops or shuts down.
I need to cleanup something manually when the server shuts down. Can anyone tell me what method will be called, or that I can override, to clean up?

I tried to implement the ServletContextListener, the ServletContextAttributeListener and the finalize methods, but I find that all of them are not called when I shut down the server manually.
I am using an Apache Tomcat 4.0 server. I implement the methods as follows:

Database Adapter in process when DB is down?

Hi, I am trying to figure out what happens to an invoke activity that is calling a DB adapter if the database is down. I need to setup some error handeling around the DB being down but I am not sure what condition I should be looking for? Does the BPEL process fail or will it continue?

The invoke process will error out with remotefault error.
It will be a unhandled exception. But if you want to have exception handle and want to terminate, then add the catchBrach in your scope or main and then add the remoteFault system error and create a faultVar and then do your operation if nay in the catchBranch scope.

DB Adapter Polling when database is shut down

Hi all,
I am trying to understand the DB adapter behavior (when set up to poll for new records) when the target DB is shut down. At my customer's site, the target DB is shutdown on Sunday mornings for a cold back-up. This is causing my ESB service to fail - and it does not resume when the DB is brought back up. When I've tested this on my own laptop environment (SOA Suite with Olite and a separate 10g DB as my target DB), it properly resumes polling when I bring my 10g instance back up. I've left it down for over 30 minutes - and it still resumed polling as it was supposed to. Is there a parameter somewhere that tells the App server to give up after a certain amount of time? Or is there something else I can check? Thanks for any help!

SOA Suite 10.1.3.1.0 on RH Linux
BPEL and ESB Schemas are on Oracle 10g on RH Linux
Target DB is on Oracle 9i on AIX

Changing the retryInterval and retryCount for that adapter process solved the problem. Thanks. I assume there's no bad side effects if I set this to keep trying for an hour or so? That's how long the target DB may be down for backups.

I've installed the SOAdemo a couple of times on local machines, and it works fine. Now I've deployed the SOADemo on a separate server and a strange error occurs in BPEL when testing the SOADemo.

if you encounter any errors then there might be a problem with mapping developed...or can be payload..
Also check the parameter used for destSourceMsg source ...is that the source message which contains the payload ?

Command button action not calling when in subview

i have a page that is fine when it's in it's own view...
the command button calls a managed bean's method..

but when i remove the view tags and include it in a main index.jspx page
that has a main view and a tabbed panel with showdetailitems and

and then an include

</f:subview>
Mypage renders but the commandbutton's action is not called..
but is called when run as a standalone page

I also have the same problem as above. Changing the dropDown values to String does not fix it.
I am using Netbeans Visual Web Pack.
I drag a drop down box onto a brand new page.
I double click the drop down box and in the processValueChange action i put System.out.println("Hello World");
In the init() method i add 2 options to the drop down box:
"option 1", "1"
"option 2", "2"
values are Strings
I press F6 to run
I notice that the drop down box is correctly populated.
I change the drop down box selection
Nothing is printed.

JMS Exception when server goes down (Urgent) ?

Hi All,
I have three topics in the JMS Server which is on the top of Web logic server 8.1.
On the client side I have Swing thick cleint.For each topic I have a listener.
When the web logic server goes down ( I shut down manually ) Only one listener is recieving the Exception and the Swing client reacts accordingly.
After this ,
Client continousoly checks whether the server is up or not. Once the server is up again the Exception is thrown that server is down ( I guess now the second listener is recieving the message).
After some time again the third listener recives the message.....
and the client reacts on that exception 3 times.
How can I get rid of this ?

this is probably a very good question to ask support. 'Logical' deployment sequence
was added to the WebLogic only recently (6.1sp?) ('logical' means that first datasources
are deployed, then EJB's and then web-apps, deployment-order parameter was added etc).
So, for applications where shutdown sequence is important there must be a document which
describes how server shutdown works.
On the other hand, this may not be as important as deployment sequence, because running
instance can crash at any time and it should not affect anything.

Most of my ejbs use connection from the connection pool. At the weblogic server shut
down time (heavy load), I can see the jsps call the ejb, sometime jsp can't find
the bean because it's removed from jndi. sometime jsp found the bean but when the
bean try to talk to database, ejb can't use the connection because the datasource
is removed from jndi. Also my shutdown class waits for the threads finish up, and
the threads calls the ejb and do the db operation, and the conn is cut when the db
operation is half way. So, the order of events when server shut down is important
to me. I am wondering how other people deal with it. Thanks --

I encountered this error while trying ADF tutorial CH10 - Developing an Edit Page, after changing some data on the Edit page and click on Save, the error appears on top of the page. The roll back was called implicatly by ADF, per stack trace msg it seems to come from failing to commit and then failing to roll back. Not sure why this is happening, please advise.

Why does SL automattically turn back on when I shut down?

Why does my mac mini automatically restart when I shut down? I shut down via the normal methods (apple menu, Shut down...) and as the shut down process finishes the computer automatically restarts and goes to the log in screen, If I shut down via the log in screen it turn's off. What gives?
Shouldn't it just shut down when I ask it to and not return me to the log in interface ?

Probably a process in your account and not systemwide.
Go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. BShutdown and test. If not go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Test.
EDIT: Also, unmount & disconnect all peripherals except Apple keyboard & mouse.

Is the W520 supposed to whirrr and click even when completely shut down?

I just received my W520 (#4270CTO) about 3 weeks ago. This is my first laptop (to be used for video editing and animation), so I'm not sure what to expect.
I noticed that when I shut down the W520 (go to "Start" select "shutdown"), it continues to make a very faint whirrr and click noise. The noise pattern goes like this: long whirrrr, click, short period of silence, then it repeats. It does this all the time when the computer is turned off. Even when I don't use the computer for 2 days, and it is turned off, it continues to whirr and click. It only stops when I disconnect the battery and reinstall it. Only then, is it completely silent.
Is it supposed to do that (the whirr and click all the time)?
The whirr and click noise is very soft, so you have to lift it up and listen to it but it is audible. My friend says that it is the hard drive noise, and said it should not be doing that, but he doesn't have a W520, and isn't familiar with it. So I thought I should ask someone else who has one to see if theirs is doing the same thing.
I also noticed that the fingerprint reader LED stays lit all the time except for when the computer is on and I'm using it. It stays green even when the computer is shut down and the lid is closed.
Please help. Is my W520 working properly, or should I call for tech support?

The power brick makes no noise. I am charging the battery now, and the power brick is warm but silent.
I've only noticed the noise coming from the underside of the computer when my W520 is turned off with the battery still attached.
If I remove the battery and reinstall it, the noise stops.
If I plug in the power brick, the noise stops. (The brick doesn't even have to be plugged into a wall socket. I could just plug the power brick into the computer without plugging in the other end to a power supply.)
Of course, if I remove the battery the noise also stops.
But if I use the W520, then shut it down and leave the battery attached, it will continue to make the faint long whirrr and click noise. I have let it sit without turning on the machine for 3 days, and it continued to make the soft noise every day.
I don't suppose your computer makes the same noise. Maybe my computer really is defective. It works great otherwise.
