DB Config Assistant Problem post install

I have downloaded Oracle 8i Personal Ed from Oracle Technet. I have gotten almost to the end of installation onto Win2K Professional. It has successfully configured Net8 Config Assistant and OMS NT Service, but the Oracle DB Config Assistant configuration fails. The dbSilentCreate.log file only says the following :
8i is an invalid command line argument.
Can you help me out please.

can you be a bit more specific about which parameters you need help with?
defaults are (to my understanding):
Listener port number: 1521
Database SID: $ORACLE_SID
Service name: $ORACLE_SID
Email address for notification: [email protected], if left null no emails are sent
Email gateway for notification: localhost (if you have sentmail or postfix installed and configured)
Password for dbsnmp: secret?
Password for sysman: secret?
Password for sys: secret?

Hello. I am installing EBS R12 using "rapidwiz".
The Install Wizard almost finishs installing and gets to "Post Install Checks". The message is as follows:
Validate System Configuration:
Database Availability
Environment File
HTTP
Virtual Directory
Login Page
Configuration Upload
DBC File
Help Page
JSP
Each of the above items gets an error message.
When click "next" button in the Wizard, the messgae comes up as follow:
"Rapid Install Wizard has detected that your configuration has errors. You must resolve these issues before continuing."
Can any folks tell me how to solve these "Post Install Checks" errors ?

Problem Post Install

I recently had my registery wiped by another user on my comp inadvertently (read: daughter). I was able to reinstall XP Pro again and everything works now but Java.
I installed the latest version and here is the problem:
In C:\Program Files I have file with no association to it called: Java Web Start
it is marked as an archived file, but again, no program associated to it.
In addition to that, every time I try to run a program that needs java (chat program, ticker, etc) I get this error:

I followed the non-existent instructions when I installed it, but I am at a loss as to what I am supposed to do now. Any help would be appreciated.

I've had some problems post installing 10.4.10

I just routinely installed the OSX 10.4.10 as it came on Software Update. Since then my computer has collapsed. Almost every keystroke has a hesitation. My main program, Final Cut Pro, is behaving poorly. Long hesitations--normal things like copy and paste not functioning consistently. I've restarted three times already and finally, with significant delays, I am able to progress on my project which unfortunately is almost done, on a tight deadline.
And the sound: Every sound, from FCP or otherwise generated is prefaced with a hum sound.
I called in to see how to uninstall this mess--it takes an hour and requires you going back to your archive.
I'm not taking anything else on Software Update until I check the boards.

Lots of issues. Lots of posts by various people.
First, read what Apple has to say about this update.

Among other things it says:
"You may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications installed, or if you've modified the operating system through other means."
As to memory errors, Apple is always making ram specs tighter.
As a matter of protecting yourself from updates:
• always backup before updating.You can always revert to the previous system if the upgrade goes poorly. I learned this the hard way.
• Repair the disk (use Disk Utility or just boot with the shift key held down)
• Repair permissions before and after updating.
• Never never update if you are working on a deadline for any project. I learned this the hard way too.
Now what to do.
Try downloading the combo updater

and install it after repairing the disk and permissions as described above.
It may also help to trash caches. I use Onyx for this but there are many programs that can do this. I trash them all and then do the restart.

9iAS Install: Config Assistant, Randomize Password Failing

Am installing 9iAS Rel 2, on a windows 2000 SP 2.
The hardware is as P3 Xeon with 4 CPU's and 3 Gig of Ram.
Install is failing on multiple config assistants but the first one to fail is the Randomize password. The error on the screen says, "oracle.ias.repository.schema.SchemaException: Cannot connect to this database".
I looked in the InstallActions log and this is the error,

Check your sqlnet.ora. Probably there is a syntax error in it (number of )'s ?).
The listener will ignore those errors but tnsping will carsh. This happend to my with my Oracle 9i on Red Hat 9.

I am having problems running sqlplus after installing
Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on Redhat 9.
The error I get when trying to use sqlplus is:
I have the correct tnsnames.ora file in
$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/ and can also ping the
host I am trying to connect to.
When I try to run tnsping to contact the host tnsping
stops running with a segmentation fault.
I have followed the installation instructions on the

unsure of the next step to resolve the problem.

I have successfully installed EBS R12 to a Windows 2003 Server. But after the Post-Install Checks, the report showed that only 'Login Page' is failure.

I tried using SQL Plus & Oracle Form to connect the Vision database. I can see the all the Vision schemas.

Starting from Oracle E-Business Suite R12, Apache no longer comes as a standalone Windows service.
In order to start Apache (and other iAS components) you either start 'Oracle Process Manager for SID_hostname' service from Windows services.
OR
Use 'adapcctl.cmd' located under $INST_TOP/admin/scripts
- To start Apache: adapcctl.cmd start
- To stop Apache: adapcctl.cmd stop
- To check the status of Apache (Alive/Down) as well as other iAS components: adapcctl.cmd status

SOLMAN 4 Post Install problem

Need Help on this following ENVIRONMENT
SOLMAN4.0 (ABAP+JAVA) STACK
DB:MSSQL 2005
OS:WIN2003 (32bit)
JAVA: JRE_1.4.2_12.
After restarting the server the J2EE engine as expected and i have to log into SMICM and send restart j2ee instance. WIll changing the rdisp/j2ee=0/1 paramter to 1 would resolve this problem or are there any post install steps which i need to check for the java stack, The install doc didnt have much information about JAVA.

I had tried loggin http://localhost:50100 (01-instance) but it throws me 404 error page cannot be displayed only after i send the restart--J2ee from SMCICM will this allows me to loggin to http://localhost:50100. My questions is after every restart of the server do i have to run this SMICM (to restart the J2ee) shudnt it re-start automatically.. Does setting the paramter rdisp/j2ee would allow for this change to happen.
2Q) What post install steps should i do for the JAVA side (the Instal document wasnt helpful) Any help or location of notes is highly helpful.

11i post install problem on winXP

Hi,
I installed 11i on my xp machine. Staging is done, pre-install checks are also done. Then it begins installation, progress bar appears and then it goes fast and progress bar is 100% in 2 mins and the progress bar window disappears.
I am not getting any post install check review window where it shows all the JSP,HTTP and so on checks. Please advise what could be the problem.
Tried restarting the rapidwizard.cmd command but again its same.

Issue with reinstallation of WSUS, Post install config fails

I am trying to reinstall WSUS role. Steps followed
1. Uninstallation of WSUS role and windows internal database, restarted the machine
2. Delete the Data file from Windows\WID folder
3. Deleted the update service registry form registries
4. Deleted WSUS administration site for IIS.
5. Deleted the files from Program files\update services.( Retained WSUSutil in sub folder tools as this was not coming up with installation).
6. Restarted the machine.
7. Installed WSUS - Successful.
8. Tried to run the post install configuration from console.. It errored out.
9. Executed the command "wsusutil postinstall CONTENT_DIR=<<Folder path on WSUS server>>
10. It erred out and the content of the error log is as below.

Refer to below steps for clean uninstallation of WSUS.
Workaround 1: To uninstall WSUS roles and features using Windows PowerShell
In PowerShell, review features installed by calling: Get-WindowsFeature UpdateServices*
To remove features, call: Uninstall-WindowsFeature <featureName>
Workaround 2: To uninstall WSUS roles and features using the Server Manager Console
In Server Manager, launch Remove Roles and Features Wizard (RRW), unselect items to be uninstalled, and complete the Wizard:
In Server Roles tab unselect ‘Windows Server Update Services’ option
In Features tab unselect ‘Remote Server Administration Tools -> Role Administration Tools -> Windows Server Update Services Tools’ option
We recommend restarting the server to ensure that all WSUS components are removed. After uninstalling WSUS roles and features, you may reinstall the WSUS roles and features
And try to reinstall. It worked for me.

10g post install mail configs

What post install configurations need performed in order to send mail? I am able to send mail to the mail domain I configured in OCS. I cannot send mail to any other mail servers. The error i get is:
The server rejected the following recipient(s):
[email protected]
Please correct the error and try again.

I feel silly not being able to get this to work, but I've done the following and it still does not allow me to send mail from computers using clients other than the portal/webmail:
Went to EM on the apps tier at: apphost:1156/
Clicked on the "Administration" column icon for Mail Application
Clicked Policy, Incoming mail
Went to Trust and added:
subnet to Client IP addresses
domains to Client Domains
my domain to Sender Domains w/ MTA auth off
"*" to sender domains w/ MTA auth on
Made sure to save settings. Restarted the Mail Application.
All I am trying to accomplish is to allow any computer to relay mail through this SMTP server as long as the user is authorized/logged in.
Am I doing this in the wrong place? Could someone offer some details as to where/what I should be changing to get this to work?

This is my first shot at installing PI ever. We decided to go with PI 7.1 EHP1 and SP5. I think the latest may be SP6.
At any rate, we're doing this on AIX 6.1 and Oracle 10.2.0.4.
I followed the install Guide exactly. Did the sapinst, oracle and patch. Next, I manually updated the KERNEL, IGS , JVM, Then I updated SPAM, SAP_BASIS, then all the other abap components. Then did JSPM and all those components. Everything matches SP5 for PI 7.11

Now I'm doing the post install steps that are in the instguide. THere are tons of steps, but let me go over the big ones and where I'm having a problem:

At this point, based on being at PI 7.11 and SP5, I did the client copy. from 000 SAP_UCUS to my new 400 client. Then I did 001 SAP_USER to my new 400 client.
Then I followed the steps to link the java UME from 001 to 400. No problem after restarted SAP, it goes to 400.
Now, the next step as I see it is to run the initial config wizard out of NWA. I did that, no errors.
My problem is when I get to updating the SLD. I started at cimsap 1.5.42 and CRDelta 5.0....
I updated cimsap to the cimsap51509_1-20005942.zip which took me to 1.6.9
Next, I tried to import CRDelta51509_1-20005942.ZIP. I "browse" to find it during the import, but when I click the "IMPORT" button, my browser hangs...
I don't even get to the next page where it would be one more "warning/info" before I could really start the import.
I didn't find anything in the work directory or the cluster/server0/log directory.
I search all through SDN/OSS but could not find anyone who had this problem.
Where did I mess up? Are there other config wizards I should have run before I tried to update the SLD?

Thanks for the response but it doesn't actually answer my question. But to that point, for a "basic" PI post install, which of the NWA config tasks would you run other than the "initial config" ? And would you run them BEFORE you updated the SLD content (cimsap/CRDelta) ?

Specifically, I did the SAPINST - ABAP/JAVA patches - Client copy - and THEN the initial config wizard (Setup a new local SLD, ). Also, during the initial config, I clicked the box marked "This SLD will be used as a name server for development" and my PI server hostname was already in the box marked "object server name". This config took about 30 minutes. I didn't see any errors or warnings. although I didn't view the log. I did go into Java JEE services and Filter for Services with name "XPI". All were green.
THEN I tried to update the SLD content.
any thoughts appreciated.

Database Config Assistant - Oracle 9.2 on Linux

I installed Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on Red Hat Linux v8.
When I try to use the Database Config Assistent to create a database, I get an ora-27123, "unable to attach to shared memory", error.
This occurs in the 3rd step of database creation,
Copying database files
Initializing database
Creating and starting Oracle Instance
I can create a database manually - using hand written scripts.
If I forget to define and export ORACLE_SID, I get
the same problem when I try to startup a database.
1. does the DBCA work correctly in Oracle 9.2.0.1.0
on Linux?
2. if so, how do I get it to work ok?

Just a question...
I have got Oracle 9.0.1 installed on win xp in C drive and 6i patch 15 installed in D drive..My window xp in on D drive.....
So after installation of LINUX will I be able to install another Oracle 9.2 database if yes..Which Drive ( C or D) should I install ? or its better to keep only on Oracle database version...

Problem in installing 10g R2 on Windows 2003 Server

Dear all,
We have a great problem when trying to install Oracle Standard Edition 10g to Windows 2003 Server. The procedure begins fine but at some point it stops (around 17% - 20%) without any Error Window.
The install actions log finishes like that:
