DB Instance fails to automatically start on cluster reboot
Hello -
I cannot get the instance on node1 to automatically start on a reboot. It starts manually, and it starts automatically when the other node is rebooted. I also unregistered it, and re-registered the instance.
Here is the errors from $ORA_CRS_HOME/log/ctolinuxpoc01/crsd/crsd.log:

Automatically start oracle after reboot
Is there a way to automatically start oracle after reboot? Our platform is Soaris 10 and Oracle 10.2.0.1.0
(1) Don't forget to edit $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart. (Note:337927.1)
Original line:
ORATAB=/etc/oratab
Modified line:
ORATAB=/var/opt/oracle/oratab
(2) As per Note:336299.1 use:
dbstart $ORACLE_HOME
or
dbstart /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0 (or whatever is your Oracle_Home)
or you'll get: "ORACLE_HOME_LISTNER is not SET, unable to auto-start Oracle Net Listener"

Automatically start clusterware when reboot
I have two node, RH RAC servers. I think the clusterware gets automatically started when servers are reboot. But currently it does not do it for me on both servers. Is there something that we missed? How to get this functionality back?
Thanks for your help.Hi,
As a super user, execute the 'crsctl enable crs' from the $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin directory on each server and that should enable the autostartup of the Oracle Clusterware. Have a look at 'Oracle Clusterware Quick How Guide' under library section of www.oraexpert.in for complete list of Oracle Clusterware commands.
You can refer guide directly at http://www.oraexpert.in/OracleClusterQuickHow.html
Thanks & Regards -
Failed to send start signal for complete cluster, SLD may still be stopped.
Hello,
I am trying to create technical systems in the SLD on the portal (http://host:port/sld). It prompts me to start the SLD server by going to Administration.
When I click the button "Start Server" under Administration, I get this following error message:
"Failed to send start signal for complete cluster, SLD may still be stopped on other cluster nodes."
Can you please tell me what has to be done to successfully start the SLD server so that I can go ahead and add technical systems.
Thanks
SrinivasHi Siddarth,
I checked MMC. There is only one instance running.
Here is the structure in MMC.

Automatic start of the 11gR2 Cluster
Hey, I try to install 11gR2 on a virtual RAC (2 nodes) in VMWARE ESX4i.
The maschines are running and the installation of clusterware and the oracle sw worked fine.
But I am struggling with the automatic start of the cluster after a system restart.
For a dummy:
Which steps are neccessary to do, to get the cluster running at system restart ?
Which files need to be modified ?
By the way, SLES11 was prepared by the Novell orarun package

Edited by: user3930650 on 02.06.2010 15:04Hey,
the files all contain "enable"
But the cluster is not starting at system reboot :-(
Still have to enter: /etc/init.d/ohasd start
also /crs_start crs
Where else do I need to look ?
Edit:
I have an entry in /etc/inittab
# end of /etc/inittab
h1:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.ohasd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
shouldn´t at least this entry start the cluster ????

Process.Start(url) sometimes one instance fails
I need some help!!!
ASPX.NET/C#- Call Process.Start(url) several times, sometimes one instance fails without error!!
I have a program that calls a http aspx.net with arguments(URL) to execute some stuff. That program are invoking 10 times that aspx.net (all in the same time) with diferents urls.
But sometimes, one of the calls (url) do not launch in browser.
Code is very simple:
public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page
private Object thisLock = new Object();
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
try
string URL = Request.Params["URL"];
Logger.Log("CURRENT URL TO LAUNCH->", URL);
lock (thisLock)
ProcessStartInfo startInfo = new ProcessStartInfo("IExplore.exe");
startInfo.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Maximized;
startInfo.Arguments = URL;
Process.Start(startInfo);
catch (Exception ex)
Logger.Log("Exception", ex);
}The URL launch are a client side technology!And that´s because i need to open the IE in WebServer!It´s silverlight web application to generate reports!The silverlight application closes the IE instances after finish. Everything goes right, except sometimes in 10 requests one fail
ThanksWhat's the url do?
Is it possibly that the url isn't ready or there?
I can't recall ever doing process start from a web page.
Maybe there's an alternative way of approaching whatever you're trying to do.
BTW
I think you should probably ask this question in the asp.net forum since there's actually no Silverlight in the mix there
Hope that helps.

Hi everybody.
For almost a year I've had a lab environment which run suse with Oracle 10gR2. First in SuSE 9, and next in SuSE 10.
Since a month ago, none of the Oracle services starts automatically when server boots.
The server has one instance and Apex 2.2.1 (previously had Apex 2.0 and 2.2), and sufficient memory and disk space (1GB / 80 GB)
I review the "oracle" script and found all ok (but I´am not a Linux expert).
The case is that if I run rcoracle start in a console as root user, all the services starts ok. This, then is not a big problem, but I'd know why it's happens.
Somebody can say me where track for a solution?
Help in advance.Ivan, it's a bit large, but I paste below the (/usr/sbin) rcoracle content. I expect that were useful.
Remember that if I run "rcoracle start" as root user, all the services starts perfectly.

SAP system doesn't automatically start after restart (but manual start ok)
Hi,
We've got a new production line of SAP EP 7.0 systems, which have CI on HP-UX and DIs on windows. The version is NW2004s SPS09.
What we see is that after a restart of the windows servers (usually because of windows patching), the SAP system doesn't automatically start up. It doesn't start up if I restart the SAP<SID>_<instance> service either.
However, I've got no problem starting the system with the MMC.
Any idea what I am missing here? is it as simple as a profile parameter ?
As far as I can see the profile used seem ok.
After a restart of the windows server the following files have log entries in the c:\usr\sap\<SID>\J<instance>\work folder
sapstartsrv.log
trc file: "sapstartsrv.log", trc level: 0, release: "700"
Fri Nov 17 15:51:26 2006
<<- ERROR: SapSSLInit(read_profile=1)==SSSLERR_LIB_NOT_FOUND

The windows event log have the application events
(first)SAP Service SAP<SID>_<instance> successfully started.
(at the same time)
Failed to update service environment from user (STATOIL-NET\<sid>adm) environment. [ntservmgr.cpp 201]
(note that this doesn't happen for all systems which have this problem, for other there is no entry like this)
I see no failed login attemps in the security event log, but see the that a login is performed for SAPService<SID>.
Since it also fails to automatically startup when I restart the service, I am able to use filemon to see what happens at a file level. Here I see that it can access the shared file system without any problems, and can read the profile and everything.
MOM is running on the server and gets some Access denied errors since it doesn't have access to the shared file system, but I don't think that matters.
Cheers
Dagfinnhi we are using sap bw 3.5 . database is oracle 9i
i applied a kernel patch and when i tried to start the services . there was no problem with the oracle services and saposcol but the service sap<sid>_nr did not start .
when i went to check the error in work folder ..
it say " SapSSLinit failed => https support disabled .
then i tried to start sap from cmd pmt . din`t work .
is there a way to statrt this ...
thanks alot.

[Bootstrap module]> Problem occurred while performing synchronization.
Any thoughts on what I can do (without having to re-install the dialog instance) to fix this?Hi,
I hope this helps you, my Basis team came up with the same problem. It is because of the JDBC driver that SR3 uses seems to be wrong. This is a slightly subtle problem and it took me a while to find.
- Open configtool
- Go to instance --> dispatcher --> Configuration Manager --> Local Properties --> rdbms.driverLocation
- Change it to C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\sqljdbc.jar (or similar)
- Go to instance > server> Configuration Manager --> Local Properties --> rdbms.driverLocation
- Change it to C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\sqljdbc.jar (or similar)
On my system it was set to C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\base.jar;C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\util.jar;C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\sqlserver.jar;C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\spy.jar which is the old school SQL Server driver.
Once you have changed these settings, save, exit configtool and restart the whole cluster. It will then start.

Having issue with start weblogic cluster with tangosol cluster
Hi,
Oracle Coherence Version 3.3.1/389p1
Grid Edition: Development mode
We are using Weblogic 8.1.5 with Tangosol 3.3.1 on Linux servers.
And we added the initializing logic in the servlet's init() method to get all NamedCaches and put into the ServletContext.
When we start weblogic cluster, the first weblogic member will startup successfully with following messages :

Many Thanks,
BingHi, Gene
Thank you for the response. I will send you our full log files and thread dumps.
I just want to give you more details about our cases :
1. This only happened without starting cache servers (com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer).
2. And our application which are running on weblogic cluster will just call "CacheFactory.getCache("XXX")", and running as the Tangosol DataClient.
3. All weblogic member servers will be up running successfully if our cache servers are up running.
Also I tried to test another case :
Suppose all weblogic instances and cache server instances are up running. Now I trying to restart (kill weblogic instance process and restart) one of the weblogic member, It will up running successfully only if add some sleep times after killing weblogic processes and restarting it. Looks like tangosol cluster need certain time to aware the member has left cluster, then the restart process will be successful.
Questions :
1. Should we start our weblogic cluster only after cache server cluster is up running ?
2. How do we decide how many time we should wait before start new process to join the cache cluster ?
Could you please help to explain this one for me and let us if there anyway we can do to avoid the problem.
Many Thanks !!!

DS 6.1 won't start as cluster service
Hi!
RG: hylas-ldap
Resources:
Logical Hostname hylas
HAStorage ldap-data-1 (Diskgroup contains instance data)
I installed DS 6.0 and patched up to 6.1. As the topic says... I'm able to start the instance on every node of the Cluster (SC 3.2) with "dsadm start /path/to/instance". Prior to that I switched the RG over to the node where the DS is started manually.
Once I register the SUNW.ds6ldap instance in my RG, it won't start.
Log:
Jul 31 11:57:55 xxxx SC[SUNW.ds6ldap,hylas-ldap,ds--argolis-disks-ldapdata1-hylas,dsldap_svc_start]: [ID 833212 daemon.info] Attempting to start the data service under process monitor facility.
Jul 31 11:57:55 xxxx Cluster.RGM.rgmd: [ID 784560 daemon.notice] resource ds--argolis-disks-ldapdata1-hylas status on node xxxx change to R_FM_ONLINE
Jul 31 11:57:55 xxxx Cluster.RGM.rgmd: [ID 922363 daemon.notice] resource ds--argolis-disks-ldapdata1-hylas status msg on node xxxx change to <Completed successfully.>
Jul 31 11:57:55 xxxx Cluster.PMF.pmfd: [ID 887656 daemon.notice] Process: tag="hylas-ldap,ds--argolis-disks-ldapdata1-hylas,0.svc", cmd="/bin/sh -c /opt/SUNWdsee/ds6/bin/dsadm start /argolis/disks/ldapdata1/hylas", Failed to stay up.
I tried to execute the bold commandline... it quits with "Error: Missing subcommand".
Adding the missing quotes "/bin/sh -c \"/opt/SUNWdsee/ds6/bin/dsadm start /argolis/disks/ldapdata1/hylas\" would certainly help, but where do I apply the fix?
Maybe thats not the problem... any hint is appreciated.
TIA && rgds,
orknaseHi, ludovicp!
dsadm start exec /path/to/instance works fine. The only time it doesn't start up is when I enable dsargolis-disks-ldapdata1-hylas in RG hylas-ldap and switch the RG online.
snip taken after dsadm start ...
dsadm info /argolis/disks/ldapdata1/hylas
Instance Path: /argolis/disks/ldapdata1/hylas
Owner: root(root)
Non-secure port: 389
Secure port: 636
Bit format: 64-bit
State: Could be retrieved using Sun Cluster commands.
Server PID: 12191
DSCC url: -
Sun Cluster resource group: hylas-ldap
SMF application name: -
Instance version: D-A00So yes, it looks like a problem with the interaction SC/DS. The agent submits the same command. Thats why I thought the defect #6563445 is related to it. Oh well, I think on monday the service plan information will be available to this account and I will have a few more possibilities to check.

VMM 2012: How to Configure Automatic Start and Stop Actions for a Virtual Machine?
Does somebody know how to confgure Automatic Start and Stop Actions for a Virtual Machine in VMM 2012?
I miss that option.Automatic Start or Automatic Restart actions are available for virtual machines running on a Hyper-V cluster from within Virtual Machine Manager.
From within Virtual Machine Manager, bring up the Virtual Machine's properties:
Click "Hardware Configuration"
Click "Availability"
Click "High", "Medium", or "Low" to enable automatic start/restart or
Click "Do not restart automatically" to disable automatic start/restart
Screenshot from VMM 2012 for a VM running in a Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V cluster:
VMs running on a cluster have to be marked "Highly Available" and logically, Microsoft assumes that you'll want these VMs to be running all the time when this setting is selected. If the cluster fails or needs to be restarted, you can set the priority
by which a VM restarts, or you can set the VM to not restart at all when cluster services are restored by using the settings above. -
For the past month (since Oct 11,2012) reporting services (SSRS 2008R2) is not starting after the server is rebooted. The service is set to automatically start and starts manually without a problem. The system event log contains the following error:
Event ID 7009: A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER) service to connect.
SQL logs :
The SQL logs has many "Event 18456 Login Failed, State 38" errors when the database engine starts. I assume clients conections are failing because the databases aren't online yet. None of these 18456 errors coorespond to the account reporting services
runs under.
The SQL logs indication Event 7009 occures before the "ReportingServer" database is online so im assuming there is a dependancy but I don't know how to avoid this.
This problem is occuring on a number of our servers running SSRS (if not all)
Any ideas?
PaulHi A141695,
For Event ID 7009, you can try to do the steps below to resolve it.
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
3. Right-click Control, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. In the New Value #1 box, type ServicesPipeTimeout, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click ServicesPipeTimeout, and then click Modify.
6. Click Decimal, type the number of milliseconds that you want to wait until the service times out, and then click OK.
For example, to wait 60 seconds before the service times out, type 60000.
Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer. For more information about it, please see:

Not: I tried the configuration D4 and D2 for Burflag but no luck
Note: DC1 and DC2 both are on different location with different subnet.
Any suggestion or solution please
