DB Link is not Active

Hi DBAs,
I have 2 DBs in 2 different servers and trying to create DB link from dbA(serverA) to dbB(serverB). I've created the DB link using OEM in dbA but when test the link I'm prompted with "The Database Link is not Active".
I've disabled the "NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN" entry in sqlnet.ora files of both servers. The db_domain of both DBs are equal to "WORLD". And global_name of dbA is DBA.WORLD and dbB is DBB.WORLD. Meanwhile the global_names in pfile = FALSE. My tnsping to dbB from serverA is working fine and even I can connect to the dbB using sqlplus with the same login credentials that I've used to create the DB link in OEM.
Hope you guys will help me to resolve my problem.

"The Database Link is not Active". Is that an Oracle Error Message with an ORA- error number ? Or a message returned by the front-end tool that you used (OEM ?).
Did you configure the tnsnames.ora entry for the remote database in the database server's ORACLE_HOME -- which may be different from your client / OEM ORACLE_HOME ? A DBLink uses the ORACLE_HOME that is used to start the database instance.

try to be more clear, i'm in lack of ideas in this problem.
I am following guide Oracle Database 2 Day + Data Replication and Integration Guide.
I defined global_names parameter of remote database as true.In the step of "creation database link" i am getting error.(oracle enterprise manager 11g-->schema-->database links-->create)
When i query on remote database(select * from global_name), I got orcl.
So,In "Name" and "Net service name" field i specified orcl.Check radio button "Fixed user." and Username and password of remote database, and i got message "Database Link STRMADMIN.ORCL has been created successfully."
But when i clicked on database link Name i got error, saying that
"The Database Link is not active.ORA-02084: database name is missing a component "
(Both dbs are oracle 11g.)

I think I am confused, "what should be Name and Net Service Name" while creating database link in context of "Database Replication." when global_names parameter is true in both database. I read somewhere "If the value of the GLOBAL_NAMES initialization parameter is TRUE, then the database link must have the same name as the database to which it connects." so what should database link name " should it be remote database name? db_domain?( or outtput of select * from global_name).......

when i connect user of remote database(a.b.c.d) from sqlpuls then it is connected.

DB link is not active if gives SID through enterprise manager(JAVA)

Dear All,
I have a strange issue in one of our DBLINK.
DBLINK is unsuccessful though we are using the same SID in OEM that we configured at Linux box.
If i give the full path of this entry, then this link will be active.
if i am giving only that SID, then the link will be inactive.
any clue on this..?

The 'Browse in Bridge' link is not active in Fireworks

I am doing the classroom in a book for fireworks cs5 and I am trying to use bridge. There is a link in Fireworks that says 'Browse in Bridge' but it is faded out meaning I cannot click it. There is also a button for bridge but nothing happens when I click it. Also, in Bridge itself, when I click Tools there is no Fireworks option. There is a Photoshop option. In other words, Fireworks and Bridge are not linking together. How do I get them to link together?

Just it sounds like the link between the two apps was broken somehow. If possible, reinstall Fireworks CS5 and then Bridge CS5 should see it. Also, confirm that you are using a matching version of Bridge (not CS4 or CS6).

Links in pdf not active from Preview

If I create a pdf from a Word .doc file, the links are not active in Preview but are active if I use Adobe Reader 10 (I prefer Preview as my default pdf reader). However if I have Google download a document as a pdf file, that pdf file has active links in Preview - what's the difference and how can I get Preview to always have active links in a pdf file that is created by OSX?

hello, the pdf viewer is still somewhat experimental and under very active development - you could try if the same error is occurring in the current development version, which you can download as an addon from http://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/extensions/firefox/pdf.js.xpi
in case it has the the same rendering problems, you could then file a bug report at https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues (a github account is necessary for it though) - please also provide a sample document where the error is apparent!

Export to pdf links not active

When i create a pages document and export to PDF, the web page links are not active, even though pages says the links should be active in the PDF's i create. Whats up? Anyone

URLs not active

Hi Experts,
In my program, im sending mails using SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 function module.
The mail content contains a URL whose value is generated using C_DESK_DOC_GET_URL.
The URL links are getting generated and the mails were also sent successfully to the identified persons.
The issue is, the links are not active in the mails when it is viewed from MS Outlook 2007. The links are just appearing as texts not as hyperlinks in the recipients mail.
Verified for the following basic outlook settings and everything is fine.
"Tools-> Options-> Mail Format-> Editor Options-> Proofing-> tab AutoFormat
Here make sure the following options are selected;
In section Replace:
Internet and network paths with hyperlinks
In section Always AutoFormat:
Plain text mail documents"
The links are not truncated and infact it appears as hyperlink when viewed from lotus notes domino.
What could be the reason ?

Firefox sent an email to me to confirm that I had asked the above question. The email had a link to click. When I clicked it from Firefox, nothing happened. Then I opened IE, signed into Comcast, opened the email, clicked the link, and it brought me here.

Im having problems with Safari 5.1.10. I often have several tabs open on screen. And after a while the links/websites become not active. So if click on a tab and want open a previous website it than has to re-load again in the window. Can I change this ?

Empty the Safari cache more often.
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Further to my question, when I plug in and select my iPad 2 I don't have the same problem. I have restored the settings on my iPod Touch and updated both iTunes and iPod Touch software and restarted my iPod touch. Nothing has made any difference.

I am trying to create a database link from Oracle 7.3.4 to Oracle 8i. When I click the "Test" button in OEM ( after entering the relevant data) I am getting an error that reads "Database Link not Active". What am I doing wrong? can someone help?

Thanks again for your quick and extremely helpful response.
As you have guessed this is my clients tnsname.ora file. From your response i believe i need to check the tnsnames.ora file of the database itself ( i assume it resides in the server box).
I used the same exact systax for creating the link and the link was successfully created. But i was not able to access any table and was getting the error "TNS: could not resolve service name." Now i understand that the 7.3 server is not able to connect to the 8i, as it does not know of its existence (as there is no information available in its own tnsnames.ora file). Am i right?

Hyperlink box is not active when attempting to link text to a webpage

In Numbers Application, I attempted to link text in a box to a web page.
The Inspector box for Hyperlinks was not active.
It also was not active when I attempted the same through Insert

Am trying to verify my email contact address. In the confirmation email I received, the link to verify is not active. This has been going on for over 2 weeks now.

In case anyone else has this problem, it turns out that my email provider's software was stripping the link out before it got to my mailbox.

All is well now, contacted the support line at BB and after a back up & install new software, restore etc
the hyperlinks now respond & work in all applications
