DB2 and BigDecimal

Hi All
I am trying to insert a Bigdecimal val in to db2 Decimal ue (Ex .. "25.4567444") Column ..I tried the
setString and setBigDecimal of the prepared statement ..But the fraction part is getting truncated when i do the insertion ...
My Env is
DB2 ver 7.1
OS : Nt 4.o
Does any know how to insert BigDecimal without getting truncated ....

If u have any problem like this please check the DB2 or the database that u r using ...
Any Numeric Coumns in Database would be having a precision and the Scale field ...Check these fields. If the scale is defined as Zero ...then the Numerical Value u r trying to insert will be truncated ...

I am Installing the MySap 2004s Sp1. I have installed DB2 and when I started the sap installation with sapinst, it is triggering an error immediately and installition termination.

I have got the sapnote : 851251 SAP NetWeaver 2004s Installation on UNIX
In which it is saying to ignore the error.
But I am not able to proceed with the installation.

are you installing on AIX? Please check the root environment. ulimit -a. Limit parameter should be
#64-Bit-SAP (for SAP Kernel 7.0, also the user root needs this environment)

AppM File Passivation SQL92 Flavor for DB2 and causes Pool connection Leaks

I am porting an ADF application to WebSphere and DB2 and noticed AM passivation goes from file to database. I have bc4j setup to use file passivation. When this happens I am noticing Connection are not being returned to pool. Has anyone experienced these 2 issues (Connection leaks and AM passivation to database)

Yes there are nested AMs in this case. I have a SQL92 flavor with Type Map set to Java, and running against a DB2 database. I have used reference site

Try to log on OS level with db2<sid>, <sid>adm and sap<sid>/sapr3 (not from root level, but rather by providing a username / pw combination).
Most probably the password on OS level has expired.
Please be aware, that you have to use dscdb6up to change passwords for <sid>adm and sap<sid>.

Is OPSS supported on DB2 and SQL Server?

We are planning to replace our current custom security framework with OPSS and ADF Security. Our product is currently certified against Oracle DB, IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQLServer, with majority of our customers on DB2. We could not find any documentation shedding information about OPSS running on DB2 or SQL Server. Can someone kindly point us to detailed documentation or any internal website showing the list of database vendors along with their version against which OPSS is certified?

I think you are confused with the way cluster is installed. Installing SQL on cluster is a two step process. On first node you create a new SQL cluster and on second node you need "AddNode" action.
Same edition media has to be used in above two operation.
you can install two separate instances with one enterprise and one standard.

DB2 and WebSphere: having trouble running the JDBC driver script

I'm investigating WebSphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD) and want to go through one of their tutorials. They require DB2 7.1, so I installed that. There is a script in the DB2 7.1 distribution that enables the JDBC driver within WSAD. Howver, the script won't run because it says I don't have the correct permissions.
I'm running all this on Win2K, and my userid has administrator privileges, and I installed both WSAD and DB2 under that userid.
So, has anybody got WSAD and DB2 to work together? If so, how?

You are suppose to run one of these two batch files:
C:\Program Files\SQLLIB\java12\usejdbc1.bat
C:\Program Files\SQLLIB\java12\usejdbc2.bat
I assume that you need the second one. If you take a look inside of this batch file you'll that it is only simple copy/remove files. You should be able to do those operations with your userid. Perhaps, it is a good ideea to stop either DB2 and WSAD before running this batch file (is trying to remove two files one .dll and another .exe which could be in use ...).

Problem with Long and BigDecimal DataType convertion

HI,
I have an application which talk to MySQL database with Spring JDBC layer and everything runs like a champ :)
Now I am converting the same application with the same DAO implementation to communicate with oracle database and I am having some trouble converting DataType from database to my java code.
For example before with MySQL I would convert any Integer coming from the database to Long datatype and it worked. Now it seems that Int datatype from oracle comes as a BigDecimal type.
I am thinking about two approaches writing an additional implementation to implement my dao interfaces or if there is some trickery that I can bypass doing that and work around these datatype incompatibility from MYSQL to Oracle.
I can also put bunch of try and catch statements and if fails with Long try with BigDecimal, but still don't buy it as the best solution.
Here use also code snippet:

Import data in to tables for MySQL, DB2 and others

The documentation says that you can right click and select import data and import from a file. But apparently this doesn't work for MySQL, DB2 or other databases? Is that correct? There is no way to do mass data entry or editing of data?

can anyone elucidate the main diffenreces of having SAP on oracle and DB2?(in ABAP programmer context)

Usually ABAP is agnostic of the underlying operating system and database. However, there are cases, where you use OS or DB specific commands.
If your ABAPs contain OpenSQL, they are database dependent.
SAP uses usually standard SQL commands (remember: ABAP is NOT SQL) as database language.

DB connect with as/400 db2 and aix db2

Hi,
We are implementing a connection with AS/400 IBM platform with DB2 400 (DB4) and OS400 like operating system. We are using DB-Connect to
extract data from a DB2 Database to BW (operating system AIX and DB2 UD6 - Sap Netweaver 2004).
We follow all the steps provided in SAP help to
configured the Connections. We created the source system for DB-Connect. In BW when we try to select tables and views with right button option the system gets this error " The current ABAP program "RSDL_META_UPLOAD" had to be terminated because one of the statements could not be executed".
The connection fails, and can't establish it.
Someone knows about this topic?
There are other options?
I would appreciate your help.

For extract data with DB connect in BW from AS/400-DB2(DB4) to aix-db2, BW write a wrong abap code.
For this reason the solutions are:
Write a funtion module with abap and native SQL for db2 (EXEC SQL) or Change the application server to windows.

Convert from IBM DB2 and IBM Net.Data

We currently have an DB2 database that will be converted to Oracle. We have developed a web based application using IBM's Net.Data to access the DB2 database. Has anyone converted a Net.Data application for use with Oracle directly of converted the application to something else that would allow access to an Oracle database. Thanks in advance

unfortunately there is no plugin for DB2 on OS/390 or z/OS.
Migrations of DB2 needed to be done with the old Oracle Migration Workbench. But that excluded the OS/390 or z/OS platform:
From the following note in My Oracle Support: Migration from DB2 to Oracle (Doc ID 200288.1):
At the moment there is not a plug-in for DB2 on OS390/zOS.
Starting with SQL Developer 2.1, DB2 databases can be migrated using the SQL Developer Migration Workbench. But the "New Feature List 2.1" at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/files/NewFeatureList21.htm is telling us:

Consult the following My Oracle Support note for further alternatives: Options for Connecting to Foreign Data Stores and Non-Oracle Databases (Doc ID 233876.1)
One chapter in the mentioned note says:
If OMWB cannot be used for the migration then other options include a manual
migration. This could be done using a transparent gateway or generic connectivity
to copy tables, or by loading data into flat files and loading into the Oracle
database using SQL*Loader.

DB2 and AIX on p570 server with Virtual I/O Server

We are implementing a system landscape on IBM p5 570 servers and currently are planning of 3 LPARs with dual VIO-servers on each box.
Have anybody expirience for this configuration in production systems ?
Is there any DB2-specific problems for working with virtual SCSI volumes over VIO-server ?
Is there any IBM/SAP whitepapers/technote for this ?

We recently rolled-out 2 p550's configured with dual VIO servers each for redundancy. So far we have installed SAPs Solution Manager and Portals on top of DB2. At this point we are using internal SCSI disk but intend to use SAN disk in future.
Performance has been good, although these are not yet Production systems. DB2 doesn't care about the virtual disk, since they appear as normal SCSI disks to the OS. I've seen it recommended NOT to use Virtualized disk in production, but I think this may be a CYA-type recommendation.
There are a couple of White Papers from the "IBM SAP International Competence Centre" in Waldorf, that discuss SAP on AIX 5.3 and Power5. Sorry I don't have the links anymore.
