SAP Netweaver 7.3 Execute error
Hi Guys,
I am newbie to SAP. I have a business background.
I try downloading and installing the 7.0 64 bit trial version on my laptop with window 8.
It seems to be installing fine. At EXECUTE stage I got this error. PLEASE HELP
=============================================
Enter the location of the required software packages
MEDIUM Package Location
MaxDB RDBMS C:/joe/appdata/local/temp/Rar$EXa0.257/NWABAPTRIAL70304_64\sap_MaxDB_79_SP7_10_RDBMS\DAT_UNIT_WINDOWS_X86_64
Additional Information
The required software packages available on the medium are detected using the identification files LABEL.ASC or LABELIDX.ASC.
If you want to copy the required software packages to your local disk, you need to specify for each package the current location in the Package Location column and the target location in the Copy Package To column.
===================================================================================================
So in the CopyP column, I put the path: C:/users/joe/downloads
Then I got this:
You entered: C:/Users/Joe/AppData/Local/Temp/Rar$EXa0.257/NWABAPTRIAL70304_64\SAP_MaxDB_79_SP7_10_RDBMS\DATA_UNITS\MAXDB_WINDOWS_X86_64
For copying a package you have to specify the source location for the requested package MAXDB:79xxx:RDBMS:MAX DB:WINDOWS_X86_64:AMD64:CD510xxxxx
Specifiy the location which contains the right LABEL.ASC, or empty the copy input field !!
============================================================================================
Please help
ThanksHey thanks much.
But where will the values be? The download is already on my C drive in the Download folder.
The first(Package Location] column is populated:
C:/joe/appdata/local/temp/Rar$EXa0.257/NWABAPTRIAL70304_64\sap_MaxDB_79_SP7_10_RDBMS\DAT_UNIT_WINDOWS_X86_64
The second column[ Copy P.......] is blank
Before I got this error, I got the first error " Another Database running" error. I did not know how to fix that in Window 8. After 3 hrs the installer might have skipped to the EXECUTE phase.
Could this come from the "Another Database running" error? -

many thanks for you help. But the problem still persists.
1. We don't have $ODBCINI. There are no conection issues at all. Connection is performed by IBM Data Server Client (db2client) db2 connect to ...
2. For which stored procedures do we need to apply these Grants? We manually exported the available historical data from the TrendingDB to CSV files, connected to the database server with db2 connect... (on the app server), imported these CSV with the same user, it all went smoothly. We granted some DML's to the database user. also granted DBADM and SECADM to the database user as well, just to be sure there are no permission issues.
The Error message seems to indicate There is a problem finding the correct driver for monitoring database, since it says,
networkLayer "ODBC"
DBMS "DB2"
com.sap.connectivity.cs.core.CSError: Specified RDBMS is invalid : DB2.
- Maby IBM Data Server Client (db2client) is not supported for monitoring database at all?
- Do we have to install additional DB2 clients like DB2 CLI driver or ODBC client instead?
Thanks in advance

System copy optimzation of import on DB2 LUW
I am looking for system copy optimzation of import on DB2 LUW. R3load version is 640.
IBM redbook (sg247774 DB2 Optimization Techniques for SAP Database Migration and Unicode Conversion) gives some general recommendations:
1) Use the DB2 LOAD API with default settings for R3load.
2) Create primary and secondary indexes before you load data.
3) Specify enough utility heap to ensure parallelism of the DB2 LOAD API. use 200,000 as a starter.
4) Others..........
I've got some questions:
1) "-loadproceduce fast LOAD" suitable for all packages? How can we know whether R3load call DB2 load API even we specify this parameter?
I've tried both below:
select tabschema, tabname from SYSIBMADM.ADMINTABINFO where load_status = 'PENDING'
list utilities show detail
But nothing shown.
2) Change the 1st & 2nd line of DDL<DB>.TPL from after to before?
3) We need change the DB paramenter, but sapinst will run automatically to trigger R3load. How can we stop sapinst temporary and change those setting before R3load?
Thanks,
JamesDear Hans-Juergen,
Your explain is more clear than SAP note and IBM redbook. If you are not the author of the note and redbook, what I want to say is those authors should be fired :-).
For both V9.1 and V9.5(and above), load in conjunction with compress can be implemented, the prerequisite is creat/alter to table to compress mode. That is easy to understand.
For V9.1, LOAD option will not force DB2 to create compress dictionary, so we must use LOADCOMPRESS, DB6LOAD_COMPRESSION_THRESHOLD defines the sample number of rows to create the dictionary.
For V9.5(and above), ADC is introducted. The default LOAD (can be used in 640 & 700) will trigger compress dictionary creation automatically.
In R3load 640, LOADCOMPRESS is suitable for V9.1 and LOAD (if table is created in compress mode in advance) is suitable for V9.5(and above).
In R3load 700 (and above), note 1058437 gives a detail explain. Actaully, this note is out of date as it says "LOAD As before", my understanding is that it is for DB2 LUW V9.1. For V9.5, it functions as LOAD+ADC if table compression is enabled. R3load 700 gives some more options such as "Uncompress load + subsequent compmression", "Load + ADC", "Compress load based on sampling" for compression.
So question 9:
It is clear there is nothing to do with R3load version, it is just DB version related. Can R3laod 640 use above options designed for 700? Or note 1058437 apply for 640? Why SAP+IBM design R3load 640 and 700 into 2 different ways?
R3load 640 can work with V9.5 directly and it is also supported in service.sap.com/PAM list.
Question 10: In readbook, it says "ADC creates a compression dictionary automatically when the following conditions apply"
COMPRESS flag is enabled for the table.
No compression dictionary exists for the table.
The table contains a sufficient amount of data.
Then I want to create all packages/tables with compress mode, db2 will compress table for big tables (a sufficient amount of data) and will not create compress dictionary for small tables. Suppose there are 40,000 tables, 2M/table for dictionary, that is 80G in total, not a burden for big system at all. Is this a crazy idea? What is the best practice, just for big tables?
Thanks,

Linux Testdrive SAP NetWeaver 7.02 on DB2 LUW now available in SAP Shop
You can find the DB6 based NW7.02 (SP09) Testdrive in www.sap.com/shop -> Knowledge Shop -> Documentation -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NetWeaver, material number is 50108304. Don't let yourself get fooled by the currently misleading description, 50108304 is the DB2 LUW based version. I will have that corrected. If you don't have a 64bit Linux system, you can download SLES11 VM at http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=x1e9uCQ4074~ run the virtual machine, e. g., with VMware Player.
Have fun
ManfredHi Ulysees
Thanks for letting me know. I take care that Suse will provide the users.txt file, still a bit reluctant to post the info directly in this thread. But some colleagues did that work for me, you can check http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/40cc99a8-c0d0-2e10-4d83-c5aad873599f for an instruction. There is a detailed How-To available on this page, which hast the root user passsword on page 10.

Downtime for Heterogeneous System Copy Export of Source DB2 LUW
Hello,
What is the downtime required for a heterogeneous system copy export of a source database on AIX with DB2 LUW? Here are the following details of the data itself:
DB size: 120 GB used of 240 GB.
Physical server: IBM Power5 quad-core 1.65GHz virtualized
RAM: 9.5GB> What is the downtime required for a heterogeneous system copy export of a source database on AIX with DB2 LUW? Here are the following details of the data itself:
I suggest you just "try it out" as a test run. It's quite impossible to give estimates based on database sizes. It's possible to migrate roughly 1 TB/hour with appropriate hardware, mostly your harddisks will be the bottleneck.
There are also a number of other factors like number of R3load processes, table splitting or not, parallel export/import etc.
I highly suggest to run the migration a few times before you do the "live" migration.

SystemCopy DB2 LUW without sapinst ?
Hi,
it is possible to perform a systemcopy [ database - db6 ] without installing sap/using sapinst ?
With Oracle it is possible - sure you have to do some work after the restore -
So I couldn't find any useful hint to perform a systemcopy without usage of sapinst...
can anybody help me?Thanks a lot for your answer.
@Paul:
R3LOAD is not our favourit so the system copy should be performed via redirect restore.
"628156 DB6: Cross-Platform System Copy using Backup/Restore" - did not solved my problem / I've to perform this system copy with sapinst too - see below:
2. Start a regular homogenenous system copy on the target system using R3SETUP or SAPINST as described in the respective homogeneous system copy guide (depending on your SAP release).
"511323 DB6: brdb6brt -Installing the latest redirected restore tool"
"867914 DB6: brdb6brt - Latest patch (currently 24)"
=> I don't understand how this tool could help me? By the way - it's already in use
"Chapter 9 of the Administration Guide:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f03d5fb8-b619-2b10-c383-c6d56872829e?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true"
Nice to know - really good but not really usable for this issue.
If I'll perform a redirect restore I have this to do in the way of the "normal" system copy - so start sapinst => [ sapinst will install the database ] and perform the redirect restore
"http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/techarticle/0308nesiem/0308nesiem.html"
I have read this article... not helpful
"You may also be interested in db2inidb
See note 594301" => interesting note - to speed up the backup procedure!
If you use Oracle - system copy - briefly:
1) source sap system - create restore script
2) target system - shutdown sap/oracle
3) tsm - target system should connect to source tsm [ to get the right backup ]
4) restore - without sapinst
5) create db-user/rights
6) start sap system + sm59, sm28 and so on
I don't have seen this for a db2 luw database ...
here I have to use sapinst - before I execute step 1)
thanks in advance for your help. -
How different is DB2(z/os) from DB2(LUW)?

How to install DB6(DB2 for LUW) on a windows 2008 R2 failover cluster NodeB
Hi Gurus,
I am building a ECC6 EhP4 cluster on windows 2008 R2, I am following the installation guide chapter 7(document name: Installation guide SAP ERP6.0 EhP4 Ready SR1 ABAP on windows: IBM DB2 for Linux, Unix and Windows). But the step listed in the guide are not so clear and I have trouble for the database installation on the second node.
What I have done is:
1. 7.4.1 Preparing the database for MSCS step1 and 3
2. 7.4.2 Windows Server 2008: Creating the sap services and application
3. 7.4.3 Installing the central services Instance for ABAP (ASCS)
4. 7.4.4 Configuring the first MSCS node
5. 7.4.5 Installing the database instance on an mscs node(as i have done 7.4.1, i got some error in this step, then i checked some note and in note 1493410, it mentioned don't do step 7.4.1, so I uninstall the DB2, and get this step finished)
6. 7.4.6 Configuring the database for MSCS
7. 7.4.7 Configuring the Additional MSCS Node
8. 7.4.8 Installing an Enqueue Replicaiton Sever
9. 7.4.9 Installing the central instance
10. 7.4.10 Installing the dialog instance
Now I got problem on the database group, I cannot fail this to the second node. the DB2 Server resource cannot bring online to the second node. I think step 1, 4 and 5 may has some issue, but I don't know how should I install this database.
note 1493410's word confusing me, below is part of that note:
Chapter "Preparing the Database for MSCS"
You must not apply this chapter at the beginning of the installation. Instead, start the installation process with the next chapter "Configuring the First MSCS Node"
Follow the instructions in chapter "Preparing the Database for MSCS" in the exit step described in the chapter "Installing the Database Instance on an MSCS Node" before executing the db2mscs tool on the additional MSCS node only.
Point "3. Install all required operating system users ..." of this chapter is obsolete.
Anyone think my cluster still have chance to be fixed or I need rebuild it from scratch again. If I need build it again, I still don't know how to do the database installation on the second node
BR,
PeterHi pal,
Have you identified Ips and group names on which your sap application and DB should run..
I will give a overview...
Exam ples -
NODE A - 192.168.x.1
NODE B - 192.168.x.2 are the one which you idetify physical systems
1) Identify the drives you want to map for application and DB and make a partation and name the drives
2) Initially create Microsoft cluster service which creats cluster group----
CLUSTER GROUP - 192.168.x.3 - Cluster name could be any thing meaningful...
Quorum disk - 192.168.x.4 - 1 Gb drive
In point 2 if you are creating Cluster service with Heart ips you will naother ips for NODE A and NODE B ( 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2)
3) Test and validate cluster configuration and ensure no erros are reflected
Above activities can be done with the help of OS Admin....
Now start working with SAP installation, even before that identify 2 names and ip address for SAP installation
Application group name can be as follows --
APPLPRD - 192.168.-x..5
Database group name can be as follows -
DBPRD - 192.168.x.6
You when you identify above drives for file systems and groups , you can start installation as mentioned in th guide...
Also let us know if you atrying to install EHP4 or EHP4.. as there some corrections to be followed in EHP4..
Open a new thread if you facing futher issues...
thanks,

How to apply a fixpack to DB2 v9 (LUW)?
We find some OSS notes but they are not step-by-step
instructions.
Could anybody share their detailed procedure?
Point guaranteed. Thanks!Hi Jennifer,
I open a browser to http://service.sap.com/notes, I enter
"fixpack" and "bc-db-db6*" as component and press on search. The second note found is:
Note 978554 - DB6: Installing FixPaks for DB2 9 (UNIX+Linux)
Procedure: ===============
I. Download the software from SAP Service Marketplace (SMP) (optional)
II. Shut down the SAP system and database
III. Updating the instances
IV. Postprocessing (parameterization, package rebind)
V. Updating the global directory
How much more step-by-step do you want? )

Wow, DB2 for LUW 9.5 copycatted almost all the Oracle SQL syntax even inclu
A list of the add-ins per my memory:
1) DUAL;
2) NVL()
3) DECODE()
4) START WITH/CONNECT BY PRIOR/sudo column LEVEL for tree structure SQL that prior DB2 9.5 could not do it in SQL while Oracle does it by just one simple SQL
5)(+) for outer join
6)TO_CHAR()/TO_DATE()/...
7)LPAD/RPAD that might be added in DB2 9 if I did not remember wrong
8)Drop a cloumn from a table
I worry that IBM may get law suit by Oracle?I actually take it in a light way. I just wonder how
come DB2/UDB 9.5 going so far that it even offers the
outer join operator (+) which is I believe Oracle's
unique syntax. It's not in any standard, right?
Let' just say they want Oracle's business badly not vise versa .
Some of the features you listed that are 'better' than Oracle are questionable
>
1) The way to handle LOB objects that Oracle needs to
the built-in package while DB2 just uses regular SQL
which impressed me a lot.You can imagine the LOB object can be handled by regular SQL is not so Large. What kind of operations you want to use regular SQL to handle anyway? select, update, insert?
2) VALUES()
It can hold consecutive row and columns for inserting
and function as SELECT...INTO too.Not sure exactly what this mean, an example will be nice.
3) OLD/NEW/FINAL TABLE();
e.g., select ... from OLD TABLE (DELETE FROM ...)
select ... from NEW/FINAL (INSERT INTO ... or
UPDATE ... INCLUDE...SET...)Same as above
4) INCLUDE keyword in UPDATE statementSame
5)CASE does offer more comparing than DECODE()Might need some approve
6) The empty string '' which is not NULLDon't Oracle have it the same way?
