DB2 Monitoring

My goal is to perform an OLE DB synthetic transaction against an AS400 DB2 system using the SCOM authoring OLE DB template. I am looking for anyone with experience locating and installing the appropriate DB2 provider.  I have tried the IBM Data Server
Runtime Client which contains and ODBC provider along with the following connection string but the query just times out.
Provider=IBMDADB2.DBCOPY1;DataSource=servername;UserID=username;Password=Password;
I know there are some 3rd party MPs that do DB2 monitoring but I'm not interested in those at this time.
Thanks

Hi!
Haven't done that for DB2 yet but for Oracle already. The following sites may help:
Do that stuff similar with Oracle:

    present buffer quality in my system is 45% (BP_STD_16k)
    system log directory is not having enough space, how to increase this log directory ?
    Important things to be concentrated in maintaining DB2 ?

    Hi,
    for administration tasks you should have a look at the
    Database Administration Guide 'SAP on IBM DB2 Universal Database for UNIX and Windows'
    for a description of the DB2 log file management:
    IBM DB2 Universal Database for UNIX and Windows: New Log File Management
    DBA Cockpit related information is contained in:
    Database Administration Using the DBA Cockpit
    All documents can be found over the "Administration" section of the SDN.
    The CLP commands for backups can be found in the DB2 Command Reference and concepts about backups you can find in the DB2 Data Recovery and High Availability Guide.

    Thank you.

    Hi,
    Most of the information you want access to should be available from the dbacockpit.
    See the following guide:

  • Monitor in DB2

    Hi,
      Iam new to db2,clarify my small doubts,how to monitor the database in db2 ,how to do archive log off mode.
    Thanku

    Hi,
    Execute the command
    db2 "GET DB CFG FOR <database_name>"
    where database_name is the name of your database.
    Once you changed those parameters, your output should look similar to this:
    Log retain for recovery status                          = NO
    User exit for logging status                            = NO
    First log archive method                 (LOGARCHMETH1) = OFF
    Options for logarchmeth1                  (LOGARCHOPT1) =
    Second log archive method                (LOGARCHMETH2) = OFF
    Options for logarchmeth2                  (LOGARCHOPT2) =
    If your configuration is so, you are using circular logging.

  • DB2 Alert Monitoring greyed out, CCMS showing red.

    Hi guys,
    I am a BASIS admin novice, and currently i have encountered 2 issues and need advice from the experts here =)
    (1)
    Recently, i have encountered a  ZDATE_ILLEGAL_LOCTIME runtime error in my server. Unable and not knowing how to resolve, i restart the entired server. However upon successful start up, while the server is running fine, i got the Time Zone Inconsistency error in on Client 000 and Client 300 when executing certain Tcode, example st03.
    (2)
    While server is running fine currently, i run DB13, under the Alerts->Alert Monitor, my DB2 Alert Monitoring is greyout out and when i go to RZ20, the CCMS for Monitoring Template -> Databases ,  rest of all except the DB connection is Green.
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Thank you in advance =)

    Hi,
    ZDATE_ILLEGAL_LOCTIME runtime error in my server
    Have you referred this SAP Note 447839 - ZDATE_ILLEGAL_LOCTIME ?
    SAP Kernel release ?
    SAP_BASIS level ?
    OS release?
    Have you referred dev_w* traces for the same ?
    Also look at SAP Note 110368 - FAQ - CCMS MONITORING INFRASTRUCTURE and other relative notes for your second problem.

  • How to monitor and tune DB2 based SAP system?

    For Oracle performance, we have following ways to
    Monitor : st02, st03n, st06, st05
    tune:  update analyzer, update statistics, buffer read-only tables, add buffer size
    For DB2, do we use the same method OR there are some more methods?
    Thanks a lot!

    As user db2<sid>, connect to the database
    db2 connect to <sid>
    Enable auto runstats
    db2 update db cfg for <sid> using AUTO_RUNSTATS on AUTO_STMT_STATS on immediate
    db2 commit
    db2 connect reset
    This should enable auto runstats for your db. For auto-reorgs (non-production only), you may do so through the dbacockpit.
    Thanks,
    Sameer

  • Db2 database monitoring

    Hi,
       first time i am working db2 database on support project (linux with db2) what are the things i have to monitor on db2 database level daily.appreciate ur help.
    Thanku

    Query seems very generic, info could be found out by googling as well.
    However, if you can't, I would advise you to start with DBACOCKPIT transaction in SAP - most important and easiest way to monitor DB2 in SAP.
    For e.g. please refer the link

  • MAXDB of Cont, Server monitor by SolMan on db2. Possible?

    I have just installed Content Server 640/MAXDB 7.6.
    Everything I have read suggests monitoring is by SAP.
    My solution Manager (and all my SAPs) runs on Db2.
    Is it possible to monitor MAXDB on content server with DBACOCKPIT of Solution Manager which runs on Db DB2:
    Solution Manager is latest release and Support package: SM 7 w NW Enh 1 @ SP 25.
    If it is possible is there step by step instructions anywhere?  Do I need MAXDB client software on SolMan?
    Ken Chamberlain

    Hello Ken Chamberlain,
    yes, you can.
    Reference - SAP note:
    990602     FAQ: CCMS for MaxDB/SAP liveCache technology
    < Pay attention to the answer on the question 9. >
    Following steps need to be done:
    Install the database dependent MAXDB DBSL SAP kernel part on the SolMan application server;
    Install the MAXDB client on the  SolMan application server;
       Review the SAP notes:
         822239                          FAQ: SAP MaxDB Interfaces

    And this is the strange point: my source system is not a BI and my dataclasses .SQL files are not empty.
    Me too i would expect that the files should be empty but instead they are full of object definitions.
    For example i have APPL0.SQL that contains a list of all tables of ECC system, for example
    tab: MAMT
    sql:     CREATE TABLE "MAMT"
            ("MANDT" SAPDB6VARCHAR(000003)
            DEFAULT '000' NOT NULL,
            "MATNR" SAPDB6VARCHAR(000018)
            DEFAULT ' ' NOT NULL,
            "SPRAS" SAPDB6VARCHAR(000001)
            DEFAULT ' ' NOT NULL,
            "MEINH" SAPDB6VARCHAR(000003)
            DEFAULT ' ' NOT NULL,
            "MTXID" SAPDB6VARCHAR(000002)
            DEFAULT ' ' NOT NULL,
            "LFDNR" SAPDB6VARCHAR(000002)
            DEFAULT '00' NOT NULL,
            "MAKTM" SAPDB6VARCHAR(000040)
            DEFAULT ' ' NOT NULL)
            IN "&location&"
            INDEX IN "&locationI&"
            LONG  IN "&locationL&"
          COMPRESS YES;
          ALTER TABLE "MAMT" LOCKSIZE ROW;
    and like this for all others tables.
    What would occur if i launch an import with such .SQL files?
    (shuld i put this question to another thread or is fine for you to answer on this?)
    Thank you again.

    I'm currently using J2SDK version 1.4.2_10 and J2RE version 1.4.2_10.
    Appreciate any help that you all can suggest. I've been looking for this error on the web. Seems like this has been a known and common problem but I couldn't find the working answer so far. Thank you in advance for any help.

    Hi Russel,
    Thanks for the reply. I've executed the jar file using the -Xcheck:jni as follows:
    java -jar -Xcheck:jni Charting.jarand when I executed the function here's what appeared on the screen:

Strange that this function worked well when executed from the development software (before packaging it into jar file). Is there a difference in the way the program works as executable jar file and as the file in the development sofware?
    And regarding the JDBC driver, I did try another driver, which was the JDBC type 2 and 4 driver. But when I ran the application, there's an error saying that the DB2 server does not support type 2 or 4 JDBC driver. Seems like I have no other choice but to use this driver.
    Do you have any suggestion on how to make the driver work as an executable Jar file? Meanwhile, I'll try to report the bug for this driver. Thanks....

    I discovered, that the problem is probably caused by a collection, which is returned by a findBy method.
    see detail of exception:
    Caused by: javax.xml.bind.JAXBException: com.sun.xml.bind.v2.runtime.IllegalAnnotationsException: 1 counts of IllegalAnnotationExceptions
    java.util.Collection is an interface, and JAXB can't handle interfaces.
    this problem is related to the following location:
    at java.util.Collection
    When I deploy an simple WS (summerizing 2 numbers) it is deployed fine and the WS is up and running.
    Does anyone has experienced a similar problem? I want to expose the functionality of my BO methods in order to set up a small POC.
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Data Services 4.0 Job Server ODBC DB2 library error

    I have followed the instructions in the SBO 401 DS Admin Guide for configuring ODBC data sources on UNIX. I have gotten the unixODBC part working from the LINUX DS Job server host using isql DNS UID PWD. I am able to connect to the DB2 9.7 UDB server and I run queries successfully. My problem is when I go to submit a column profile request I get the following error back in the profiler monitor:
    ErrorSystem call <LoadLibrary> to load and initialize functions failed for <libdb2.so>. Ensure the shared library is installed and located correctly.
    This library is contained in the /opt/sapds/DB2_Conn/odbc_cli/clidriver/lib directory which is contained in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I have these 2 entries in the ds_odbc.ini file:
    [DB2TEST]
    Driver = /opt/sapds/DB2_Conn/odbc_cli/clidriver/lib/libdb2.so
    [DB2]
    Description = IBM DB2 Adapter
    Driver = /opt/sapds/DB2_Conn/odbc_cli/clidriver/lib/libdb2.so
    There is a troubleshooting section in the admin guide that states "To determine whether all dependent libraries are set properly in the environment variables, you can use the ldd command on the ODBC driver manager library and the ODBC driver library."
    For example: ldd tdata.so
    Is this a real thing to check or just an example?
    When I check the db2 library I receive the following:
    $ ldd libdb2.so
            linux-vdso.so.1 =>  (0x00007fffd13fc000)
            libcrypt.so.1 => /lib64/libcrypt.so.1 (0x00002b5ab3d36000)
            libdl.so.2 => /lib64/libdl.so.2 (0x00002b5ab3f6e000)
            libpthread.so.0 => /lib64/libpthread.so.0 (0x00002b5ab4172000)
            librt.so.1 => /lib64/librt.so.1 (0x00002b5ab438e000)
            libpam.so.0 => /lib64/libpam.so.0 (0x00002b5ab4597000)
            libm.so.6 => /lib64/libm.so.6 (0x00002b5ab47a2000)
            libstdc+.so.6 => /usr/lib64/libstdc+.so.6 (0x00002b5ab4a26000)
            libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib64/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x00002b5ab4d26000)
            libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x00002b5ab4f34000)
            /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x0000003791400000)
            libaudit.so.0 => /lib64/libaudit.so.0 (0x00002b5ab528d000)
    I believe that the DB2 ODBC DNS is working correctly because I can connect and run queries from the server host.
    Does anyone have an idea on what I might check to get this working? Should I open up a support message for further help? Let me know, thanks.
    Additionally, we have our Oracle profiler job working without issue.
    But, we are having another issue in the Data Services Designer when leaving the options screen we get the following error:
    "The Job Server in not responding. Cannot save modifications to the job execution options. Make sure the Job Server is running and accessible from the Designer, and then make make your changes again. (BODI - 1260016)." I do not think that this is related to running the DB2 profiler jobs because, as I said we can run Oracle jobs without issue.

    Hey John
    We are having a similar issue. Can you please let me know how the issue was fixed (i.e. what were the missing pieces in the setup)?
    Thanks!
