Db2 on SAP  in clustering

Hello gurus,
I have installed Central instance on node A and database instance on node B.
when i move CI to node B SAP is running.
  But when I move DB instance to node B . it is saying
SQL1042C  An unexpected system error occurred.  SQLSTATE=58004
Activate database failed
R3trans connect failed
DB startup failed
Please help me. and suggest me how to solve it

    many thanks for you help. But the problem still persists.
    1. We don't have $ODBCINI. There are no conection issues at all. Connection is performed by IBM Data Server Client (db2client) db2 connect to ...
    2. For which stored procedures do we need to apply these Grants?  We manually exported the available historical data from the TrendingDB to CSV files, connected to the database server with db2 connect... (on the app server), imported these CSV with the same user, it all went smoothly. We granted some DML's to the database user. also granted DBADM and SECADM to the database user as well, just to be sure there are no permission issues. 
    The Error message seems to indicate There is a problem finding the correct driver for monitoring database, since it says,
          networkLayer    "ODBC"
            DBMS    "DB2"
    com.sap.connectivity.cs.core.CSError: Specified RDBMS is invalid : DB2.
    - Maby IBM Data Server Client (db2client) is not supported for monitoring database at all?
    - Do we have to install additional DB2 clients like DB2 CLI driver or ODBC client instead?

  • AXI DB2 distributed sap systems and rsh

    Hello,
    we are running sap with aix 5.3 and db2 v9. our application server, central instance and database are running on different servers. Until now we are using rsh to start the distibuted systems. security colleagues asked us to change to ssh. we have seen, that it is possible to start db2 with ssh. but it is also possible in a distributed sap system to set rlogin=false and doesn't use rsh anymore?

    Not sure what you are asking about - indeed, to use ssh for DB2 is of importance for DPF systems (i.e. BW-based SAP systems in multi-partition environments).
    If you are asking how to enable ssh for starting SAP systems, then I guess the approach is to replace 'rlogin' by 'ssh' in your scripts. Of course, you need to ensure before that ssh is working as intended. E.g. if you expect the process to work without providing passwords, then you need to ensure that ssh can login without a password. You can find related information in the net e.g. searching with keywords
        ssh automatic login
    If all this does not help, or address your issue, please provide more exact information, e.g. the scripts you use.

  • Fixpak 2 for DB2 V9 - SAP Certification date ??

    Can someone from SAP comment on why there seems be a delay in certiying Fixpak 2 for DB2 V9. I know that GA from IBM for Fixpak 2 was sometime in Feb2007 and SAP still hasn't certified Fixpak2. I thought SAP and DB2 were committed to certify these quicker from what I heard in one of conferences.

    Thanks Frank, I appreciate your response.
    We are just migrating our BW env from V8 to V9 and currently testing it FP1, but I know that there is one know issue with "db2 list tablespace command" hanging in DB2 V9 on Fixpak1 which I believe has been fixed with FP2. I know we can use SNAPSHOT table functions inplace of list tablespace in our monitoring scripts to get around that issue, but I was curious as why it was taking long for SAP to certify it. Thanks for the answer.

    We have installed SAP on DB2 database. Can any one tell me alternate of Update Stastics (Oracle based SAP system) in DB2.
    Some one suggested me that it is RUNSTAT but I do't know the process and when it should run.

    Hi,
    In DB13 you will find job action Update Statistics + Reorgcheck all tables for DB2.
    If Automatic RUNSTATS is activated then its not required to schedule this job in DB13. If Automatic RUNSTATS is not activated in your Database, then you should have to schedule this Job in DB13.
    Refer [SAP Note 434495 - DB6: Maintaining table statistics via transaction DB13|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/434495] to get more detailed information.

  • Using Standard SAP Tables in SAP Tables, clusters or functions connections

    Hi Gurus,
    I am trying to use Standard SAP table like MARA, MAKT.. etc. in my crystal designer. When i make a new connection using SAP tables, Cluster or Functions, these tables are not listed.
    Any configuration i have to maintain to list those standard table.?

    Due to performance reasons there is  a limitation regarding the number of the dispplayed table names. Once you are in the connection/table browser select a table and invoke the context menu by pressing the right mouse button. Select Options and in the options panel you can use wildcards in order to limit the results to the desired range (eg. use MA% to get a list of tables starting with MA). After you close the options panel press F5 and expand the connection entry again.

    One of my customer is using the SAP integration kit and the document states that we can have a Add Command option in Crystal Reports XI against the SAP tables.
    So in Crystal Reports can we create an ADD COMMAND option against the SAP tables?

  • How to monitor and tune DB2 based SAP system?

    For Oracle performance, we have following ways to
    Monitor : st02, st03n, st06, st05
    tune:  update analyzer, update statistics, buffer read-only tables, add buffer size
    For DB2, do we use the same method OR there are some more methods?

    As user db2<sid>, connect to the database
    db2 connect to <sid>
    Enable auto runstats
    db2 update db cfg for <sid> using AUTO_RUNSTATS on AUTO_STMT_STATS on immediate
    db2 commit
    db2 connect reset
    This should enable auto runstats for your db. For auto-reorgs (non-production only), you may do so through the dbacockpit.

  • Sap landscape(clustered environment)

    Hi gurus,
    Information on the clustered environment,does this mean that if one server fails, the application will still be accessible & running. However, any transactions or users currently running on the failed server will face issue and they have to re-login into the system or re-run those transactions?

    As far I understand, in an clustered envionment if one server fails the other clustered part takes over.
    So the server does not come down, it has RAID concepts involved.
    The user operating on the part has to redo the part from beginning in this case.

    We have a requirement to connect the remote DB DB2 (No SAP) which is on I series from our SAP ECC EHP 5 system so I made a below entry in table DBCON -

    As per note 663756, I can use the DB2 CLI driver as I am on Kernel release 720 (see below) -
    If you use a DB2 CLI driver client, the following changes are required in
    the procedure described above because the CLI driver does not support DB2
    CLP and BIND commands:
    o The CATALOG commands are omitted.
    o The target host and port must be entered in the table DBCON.
    For example, the CON ENV row looks as follows:
    DB6_DB_NAME=HOSTDB;DB6_DB_TYPE=DB2/390;DB6_DB_HOST=<hostname>;
    DB6_DB_SVCENAME=<portnum>;
    o The BIND commands must be executed by a runtime client.
    Alternatively, you can use the DB2Binder utility from Note 784264
    to bind the CLI packages.
    Is that mean that I need to only maintain the DBCON entry as all other commands are omitted for CLI driver and license file is mandatory or temp license will work ?

  • DB2 SAP

    Hello Gurus - I am a newbie when it comes to DB2 on SAP (although I am a seasoned DB2 DBA) on Unix and Windows. First of all, I am glad that I have joined this forum as I can learn and hopefully share my DB2 knowledge with you folks. Now getting to my question.. What might be few articles that you would suggest for a DBA like me who is excited about DB6 but just lost ?? I hear lots of terms like DBA **** pit, SAP CCMS etc etc. Can you throw some light along these lines?
    I highly appreciate your input and/or any articles that you can lead me to.

    there's a nice and free guide to DB2 Express-C which has the same base functionality and architecture as DB2 Enterprise Server. You can get it here: Free DB2 book.
    Optionally you can use the great repository of DB2-Resources of the DB2 user community or the official DB2 online documentation
    In order to build the bridge to SAP, I would recommend - as Hans-Jürgen already mentioned - the DB6 Admin Guide.
    These guides  should provide a good introduce in both, the DB2 and the DB6 (DB2 LUW for SAP) World.  I hope this will be helpful for you.

    为了帮助SAP的DB2客户提升SAP环境下DB2数据库的管理能力，我们代表IBM公司邀请您参加由IBM公司提供的《DB2 DB2/SAP Admin workshop》培训。
    此次免费培训将在广州（4月7日 － 4月10 日 ）举办。授课对象为具有一定SAP NW经验，希望进一步深入了解DB2 UDB ，和在SAP环境下使用DB2的系统管理员和技术顾问。培训为每位学员提供实验环境，其授课目标为：

    u2022     使用不同的SAP和DB2工具，在SAP环境下通过数据监控，性能调优，备份及恢复等操作，完成对数据库的完整管理；
