DB2 transition to DBACockpit tcode

We started with running Solution Manager 4.0 SP10 with several remote db2 database subsystems connected and the DB2 transaction populated the subsystem field correctly on for example Performance > DB2 Subsystem Activity.
We have recently applied SP13 and exploiting the DBA Cockpit, but the db2 subsystem is not correct for the data which it is displaying, for example Performance > DB2 Subsystem Activity. It appears to be displaying the last alphabetical db2 subsystem defined but the data is for the default system.
Anyone have experience with this ?

If you Archive Log log files to Tape with DOUBLE STORE option selected, then in First Run, The DOUBLE STORE operation copies log files to tape and then in second run, it will delete only those log files that were copied to tape in first run.
Please use the DOUBLE STORE operation to avoid loss of data as some Tape medias are quite unreliable.
If you Archive Log log files to Tape with STORE option selected, then in every run, The STORE operation copies the log file to tape and then deletes the log files from disk.

   But My requirement is a bit different from your imagination.
   Once the order is delivered in R/3 system. The intransits will be created in SCM. we can see the In transits in RRP3 TCode. once the shipment is done I will get a file from the Customer and I need to delete the Intransits according to the data in the file.
    Once I got he file from the customer its will pass though XI (Exchange Infrastructure). later XI will call a BAPI of SCM system to delete Intransits in SCM,
    This is the process we are following as of now. Now we need to change this interface depending on SHIP to Data.
    If we got the file from the customer whose ship to is from VMI ship to then Instead of deleting intransits we need to create an order under the category "XX" created especially for this "Receipt " category type ("1" is of type Receipt). using the same order data which we are getting in the file.
     I went through the function module Using to change INtransits. But there is no field in the BAPI structure which can carry ATPCategory. So I am thinking to make use of different BAPI to Create orders under this new Category .
     Hope you understand my problem. Please help me....

Reducing the memory footprint of our Sybase ASE based SolMan install

Hello All,
We are doing a test install of SAP Solution Manager 7.01 on Sybase ASE 15.7.
Since this is just a test setup, we started off with a lower-than-recommended hardware configuration (4 GB RAM only) due to time constraints and since we were 'assured' that we could do basic testing with this setup.
While post install performance of SolMan was decent, performance during solman_setup (setting up technical monitoring) has become appalling. We are not able to complete the configuration process at all as the SolMan configuration web application has become very unpredictable and extremely slow.
The SolMan install is centralized and on a windows 2008 box. Windows task manager shows consistent memory usage of up to 90 - 95%. We also tried reducing the total number of work processes to just 8 but that did not help much. We see in 'task manager > resource monitor' that sqlserver.exe process is taking a shareable working set close to 2 GB of RAM whereas the committed memory much less (34 MB). Please tell us about any memory optimization we can perform for SolMan / Sybase ASE in order to complete technical monitoring setup using Solman_setup. We were hoping that we could change the 'total logical memory' setting for the DB directly using DBACOCKPIT tcode (in order to reduce the max memory setting) but could not do so as the it seems to be read-only. We could not find much documentation/posts regarding memory optimization for the DB. Please help out. Thanks!

ASE's 'max memory' setting can be changed on the fly, while 'total logical memory' is a calculated value that you cannot change (ie, it's 'read only'; changing 'max memory' will cause 'total logical memory' to change automatically). [NOTE: DBACOCKPIT is a SAP-provided application that sits on top of ASE; while I know what's doable when connected directly to ASE I do not know if DBACOCKPIT has disabled the ability to change some configuration settings like 'max memory'.]
As for the SolMan performance issues ... I'd recommend reposting your issue in the SAP Applications on ASE discussion group where you're likely to get the attention of more folks with SAP application (on ASE) experience. (While someone may jump in here with SolMan suggestions, SolMan is a SAP application and this group isn't really geared towards SAP applications.)

Number of tables in New Dataclass is 0 even though new tables are activated

Hi friends,
I created a new data class by creating new table space.
And i assigned 3 tables to this new Dataclass and activated successfully.
But when i got to STO4 or DBACOCKPIT tcode and see number of tables under 'DATACLASS' its showing as 0.
I checked table which stores technical settings of table -DD09L
under new dataclass it has the 3 tables.
Why is it that this is not updated thru ST04 and DBACOCKPIT?
Any inputs on this is highly appreciated.

Tcode DBACOCKPIT error

Dear expert,
My system is SAP ERP on SQL Sever 2008. when I use tocde DBACOCKPIT, system show error
52 actions disabled. Reason: monitor objects missing
Database is not yet configured for monitoring
RAT provider does not exist : sap_get_princ [[READ_TLIST]]
RAT provider does not exist : sap_get_princdetail[[READ_TLIST]]
RAT provider does not exist : sap_get_perms [[READ_TLIST]]
I cannot use any function. I click button Execute SQL scrip(s) on tab SQL Script Executtion but it is still error.
Please help me solve this problem.

Db2 license expiring in SAP Dev system

hello All,
Im new to DB6 database and we are experiencing db2 license expiring.
What logs should I first investigate and and what SAP tcode can help me with this aside from SM21.

Hi,
From SAP, I am not sure but from OS level, you can easily check it.
You can check Alert Logs in DBACOCKPIT transaction, from there I think you will get some information.

Changing db2 sid password

Hi,
Recently i just changed db2<sid> password in AIX using passwd command and also i changed the password in r/3 (tcode dbacockpit under database connection)
After that i looked at the etc/security/failedlogin file and i saw a lot of db2<sid> entries.
Can anyone enlighten me which part i have missed out or done wrongly?

Changing the db2<sid> password will not require the
update of other users or any other change to reflect the changed
password. which would be needed if you change the passwords of
<sid>adm and sap<sid> (these would need to be updated via dscdb6up)
But if you change the db2<sid> password
it will not affect the running of the SAP instance as SAP
does not use this user to connect.
Do you see alot of entries in the db2diag.log of
Password validation for user db2<sid> failed with rc = -2146500507
validation for user db2<sid> failed with rc = -2146500507 in the
db2diag.log file means that the "Password does not belong with
specified user id" after DB2 SERVER password was changed for instance
owner.
It will not harm the system but some user or script is still using the
old password to connect and it generating this entry. It would be very difficult
to track down exactly what is tyring to connect as it is not an SAP application.

Hi,
what you have to do is to extend your tablespace with new containers on the new drive and AVOID REBALANCING !!!
Do do that, you can either use the "alter tablespace" command with the "begin new stripe set" clause, or use
the DBACOCKPIT to extend your tablespace and specify
a new stripe set there.

Hi ,
You may delete the old event files or move the older event files to other location.
Alternatively you may de-activate the events.
select evmonname, autostart, target from syscat.eventmonitors;
This will give you the list of defined monitors, along with their autostart flag ('Y' means it starts automatically), and directories where their output goes.
You can then check each monitor's status by:
values (event_mon_state('<monitor name, case sensitive>'));
1 means the corresponding monitor is active.
Deactivate it by:
set event monitor <monitor name> state 0;

Equivalent of DB2 functions in ORACLE 11g

Hi,
I am trying to convert the SQL queries written in DB2 to ORACLE. There are some db2 specific functions are used in the queries.I am not able to find the equivalent function in ORACLE. The function names are written below:
1) DateDD()
2) SELECT @@IDENTITY
3) SELECT *
FROM (
SELECT ROWNUMBER() OVER() AS rowId_1, INNER_TABLE.*
FROM (----)as innertable
) AS Outertable
Error is: ROWNUMBER is INVALID identifier.
4) DAYOFWEEK()
5) DAYS()
6) dayofyear()
Please help me in finding the equivalent function in ORACLE.

You probably don't need a DateAdd function in Oracle. You can add a number to a date in Oracle-- that adds the number of days to the date.
SELECT sysdate today, sysdate+1 tomorrow
FROM dualWhy are you using DAYS()? If, as in the example, you're just trying to determine the number of days between two dates, you can subtract dates in Oracle and the difference will be a number of days (including a fractional component if applicable)
SELECT date '2011-09-27' - date '2011-09-25' difference_in_days
FROM dualIf you really need the number of days since January 1, 0001, you could subtract the date from Jan 1, 0001, i.e.
SELECT date '2011-09-27' - date '0001-01-01'
FROM dualI would assume that Oracle and DB2 would return the same number but there could well be some differences since the current calendar didn't exist in the year 1 and I know there were issues in the transition from the Gregorian to the Julian calendar where some days were decreed not to exist. It wouldn't shock me if Oracle and DB2 counted some of the days in the 1500's differently.

Remote Database Connection DB2 - Oracle

Hi All
We need to maintain a remote db connection in DBACockpit. We are on DB2 UDB and we need to connect to Oracle. We have all the connection details.
Now my query is do we need to maintain connection details at DB2 level also , or is it enough to maintain them in DBACockpit.
Basically i need to connect from my SAP BI system which is on DB2 UDB 9.1 to Oracle Database.
In oracle we can connect to different databases using TNS functionality, is something there like TNS in DB2 where we have to maintain the remote DB connection details? If yes request you to provide some relevant document for the same

Hi Kaleem,
if you want to administer your ORACLE database through DBACockpit, you need to prepare your system for a DBSL multiconnect to ORACLE as described in note 339092 ( i.e. install ORACLE client, ORACLE DBSL library, etc. ).
This multiconnect can also be used for BI Connect.
If you just want to query some ORACLE tables in your DB2 system, you may also consider to use the DB2 federation feature to create ncicknames within your DB2 database that point to ORACLE tables. In this case I suggest to consult the DB2 manuals on how to do this. You may also have to install an additional DB2 license for the hererogenous federation feature to create nicknames to ORACLE tables.
