Hi All,
We are working on upgrade Essbase upgrade from 7x version to 11x and found there is an ess_japi.jar file which is being used for Web based application.
Do we need to get the new version of the JAR files for the 11X version?

I am newbie to Essbase and when i was going to all the configuration files we found that these Jar files are being deployed in the EDS folders and was just curious when are installing the ESSBASE version 11x.. EDS folder and also associated files also get loaded into server?

Features and enhancement for Essbase 9 (Essbase analytics 9)

Hello, We have applications working with essbase 7.1.So we try to know if we must migrate to the new version (module"Essbase analytics"). I've got questions about this :- what i understand : if we want the new version of essbase, wehave to take the "Hyperion System 9 BI+ EssabseAnalytics" product (which includes many applications we don'treally need in the package). Is that true?- does "essbase analytics " really provideenhancements against Essbase 7 or does it just a new package? Ifthere are enhancements, what are they? Perhaps, does it exist documentation about this subject, but idon't find them. So, i really have difficult to retrieveinformations about the real enhancement provided by this newpackaged version. What i am trying to do is to install essbase client in Business Object which is in Windows server 2003.Business Object access data from remote essbase cube.
So i need to install drivers or client in my windows server so that we will be able to connect to essbase cube.
In our BO guide it's mention that you need either Excel Add in or Runtime client to be installed in your Server.
I tried in my client machine it works but when i install the runtime client on server i try to connect to essbase cube it doesn't shows Essbase in Provider just like in case of Analysis Server it shows Microsoft OLEDB Provider for OLAP services 8.0,9.0 it does,nt show essbase.So there is somethingt wrong regarding installation.
Is there any issuus like we can't install essbase client on windows server 2003 and we have to install essbase server?How to resolve the issue?

Default userid/password for Essbase 7.1.5

Hi All, I've just now upgraded to Essbase 7.1.5. At the time of installation I gave the 'NAME' as 'James Galt' and system password as 'password'. Earlier on every upgrade it used to recognize the old security file and I could login to a fresh upgrade using my old id/password. But this time it does seem to recognize the essbase.sec file. could somebody please let me know the default user-id password for version 7.1.5, so that I can atleast login and try creating some users. There's no such ting as a default user ID and password for Essbase. The system user ID and password is the one you create when you install Essbase. IF you want to reset and start from scratch, delete the essbase.sec file and launch essbase.exe from \essbase\bin. You will be prompted to enter a new user ID and password. Hint : it's not good practive to use someone's name as the system ID. BE aware of a couple of things if you do this, any users, filters, applications, etc you had we'll be gone and have to be re-created. If this was an upgrade from the previous version, upon install completion, you would run the essbase.exe and it would prompt you for the existing password. If it's not working, chances are you are using the wrong password. Remember, the system password might not be the same as the admin password. For instance at my location, when I did the upgrade I entered the admin password and it didn't work. I asked everyone and they said that was the only password. After digging little deeper I found that a couple of years ago it was determined the passwords were too generic so they changed them. While they changed the admin password, the system password stayed the same. After digging, I found out what the old password was and sure enough I was able to fire it up. If you don't have existing apps and users to worry about then just start fresh, but if you want to salvage what you had, then you will need to find the right password. One more thing, if you have Essbase running as a service, disable the service and run it in console mode until you get this straightened out. HTH

Need Drivers for Essbase 9.3

Hi there,
I need to install essbase on Windows server 2003 however we don't have excel installed on our windows server.
when i try to install essbase client only essbase runtime client and essbase API got installed and it was not able to connect to remote essbase server.
Can anyone please provide me information regarding how to get the drivers for essbase.Or how to install Essbase client on Windows server 2003.
This is very urgent issue pls help....i am bugging the issue a lot.
I cannot contact essbase because i don't have user id etc .

External authentication for Essbase 7.1.6.

Hi all,
We are trying to set up external authentication for Essbase 7.1.6. We have a customized version of Essbase which does not use DLL. we do not have a Hyperion Hub or any CSS set up. All we have is an authentication module from the vendor to be used instead of the DLL. As per the documents provided to us all we have to do is change the cfg file to include the AUTHENTICATIONMODULE setting. Does anyone has any experience with this? What all parameters do we need to pass to Active Directory for this to work? Please help.

You could create a maxl script that replaces the filters, when you call the maxl script you could pass in a variable such as YR08 and use that variable in the script.

Hperion Essbase Version 11

Hi,
I need to download Essbase Version 11 for Windows 32bit machine and I am not able to find essbase files for windows 32 bit machine. We are using windows server 2003.
I need to upgrade my test environment from System 9.3.1 to Version 11. But we are using version Essbase version 7 on Production server.
Initially Company want to upgrade to system 9 but now they want to go on Version 11. My question is can we migrate the application from version 7 to 11 and how hard is upgrade from 7 to 11.

Business rule for Essbase cube calculations in 11.1.1.3?

Hi,
Can we use business rules to use @XREF from data transfer from one cube to other cube.Why I went for business rule is, I can put set of business rules in a Sequence and any new user can run this Sequence on demand and even we need prompt also in that.
So, I want to clarify whether I can use the business rules for Essbase calculations along with calc scripts??

Actually, Business rules are running essbase cubes in every case.
Remember planning and BRs are adding extra layers like prompts, forms, security, processes...
Think Business rules are extended version of calc scripts with some more functionality. They are ultimately running on essbase cubes...

Physical Path for Essbase Studio Cubes

I have one doubt regarding Cubes developed in Essbase Studio.I want to know the extact phyical existance path for Essbase Studio.
Currently we have an space constraint for Essbase Studio in Server.So,Is there any possibility to change the cube path in Essbase Studio where we have sufficient space.

Hi All,
Currently Iam facing with Cube space allocation.
Essbase Applications is installed in D: .Currently D: has only 2GB Disk Space only. So, They want to point out the applications in E: drive which contains sufficient space.
Can someone suggest me where I have to make changes in settings to build and load the cube in E: instead of D: drive.
For your reference
1. Building and Loading of cube is happening through Essbase Studio.
2. EPM Version : 11.1.2 (Platform : Windows)
Should I need to make changes in EAS Console edit properties. Please Advise. Thanks in Advance.

Essbase Version 11 Error During Export

Hi,
I have just installed Hyperion Essbase version 11 on windows 2003 Server, It’s a fresh install on new machine. I am getting following error during nightly backup.
After "Calc All" we export data to the following location. Hyperion\APP\DB. Same Maxl script works fine on version 7 of Essbase. If i export data manually its works fine, only issue i have during nightly back (Automated). Data size is 1.4 GB; Please let me know if you need some more information.

LLD and HLD for Essbase Cube

Hi All,
Could you please tell me how to create LLD and HLD for Essbase ASO cube?.
Please explain me in detail.

I think LLD is for low level design.
In any Essbase cube building, We didn't take much pressure for the design document.
Just we will document a report matrix.
Based on this we will identify entities(dimensions) and attributes(members).
From this we will analyze the data availability and the level of input into essbase.
This is enough to get into Application manager and we will build the prototype cube and allow the business users to drill into the cube.
From here we will do the changes to the design as well as to the cube to reflect the business users review comments.
Once cube is accepted we will deliver the final version of the design document with all the needed databse screen shots and batch scripts to automate the cubebuild.
