Dbassist still doesn't work after Suse patch

I have followed the instructions to a tee on the Suse website on how to install 8.1.7 on Suse 7.1. I manage to install 8.1.7 EE fine, run the glibc-2.1.3-stubs.tar.gz patch, but cannot run dbassist. I either get the traditional SIGSEV error, or (after typing unset LANG) get "JNLS Exception: oracle.ntpg.jnls.JNLSException Unable to find National Character Sets. Check your Oracle installation and make sure that the ORACLE_HOME environment variable is defined correctly."

This is what worked for me:
Uncomment and/or modify the following line in /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh
NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8; export NLS_LANG
I also added it to the /home/oracle/.profile
When I couldn't find anything in the forums about the JNLS error I was looking at the Installation Instructions for Oracle 8.1.7 on SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 7, available at:
http://www.suse.com/en/support/oracle/docs/817_sles7_install.pdf.
On page 9 it mentions /etc/profile/oracle.sh. When I saw that the NLS line was not in use I tried uncommenting it. I'm not sure whether it was uncommenting it or ADDING the line to the .profile but dbassist now runs fine. I've been able to launch it several times - each time on the first try (provided I type unset LANG before doing so). Good luck!

i actually can see the slider moves right and left when i temporary cover the sensor with a finger BUT when i place ipad under really bright light (the slider moves to the right completely) and then to the dark place it DOESN'T move to the left. i've just let it stay in a dark room for 5 minutes - NOTHING.

I have the exact same problem. Just did the 6.1 update from 6.0.1 and still no fix (iPad 3).
Once the back light brightness hits it's set value acording to the measured amount of light hitting the sensor, the screen brightness locks and stays on that level. You can verify it for yourself with a flashlight. The screen never goes completely dark either. It's super annoying. Set and forget? Auto brightness just doesn't work at all. Auto distraction at it's finest.

so everyone told me to get the 3.5mm mini jack cable, because i only had the 3-4 cable. So i connected the 3.5mm, but still i get no sound from the side or rear speakers when i test the surround with realtek HD audio manager, only the front speakers works.

Hey Amigo, I had the same problem and here is the fix I found that works on my 7800 speakers. I believe it should work on yours since the cables are the same. First, unplug the four to three wire connectors from the back of the card and speaker amp. Then run the extra 3.5mm plug from the "black" on the back of your card to "rear speakers" on the back of your amp. (make sure your 3.5 connector is a stereo one and not phono or mono. It'll have two black rings around the male end) Then, reverse your 4/3 plug. For this to work with the existing plug you must do this. The end with the four plugs you will now connect to the back of your sound card instead of the other way around. Hook the green to green, orange to orange and the black plug to the grey on your card. Do not use the grey plug, just let it hang. Then on the back of your speaker box hook the orange to orange (center/ subwoofer), green to green (front) and the black plug to grey (side). Then on the creative control panel go to the THX setting and select your speakers to 7.1. From there you can click on each individual speaker and test them. They should work great and you are set to go. Just for info I am running the X-fi Titanium Pro and Inspire 7800 speakers. From what I see the connections are the same as the 7900's. Thunderbird keeps asking for my password when I try to send emai but still doesn't work after I enter it.

I am using Thunderbird Ver. 35 and yahoo mail as my server on a windows 7 64 bit computer. I use the same password on Thunderbird and Yahoo. I always click the "use password manager to remember password" box. Occasionally the mail is sent but very infrequently.

it's not asking for a user name just the pass word. I can log into Yahoo mail using my user name and password with no problem. I assume the user name is the same for both.

IPhoto still doesn't work correctly with IOS 4.3

Was told after last update that IOS 4.3 would finally fix Ipad and Iphone not listing events in alphabetical order, rather than just by date. Well, guess what!! It doesn't Still only shows events arranged by date. Wish I could get my old IOS back, as it always worked. Difficult to find photos with events all mixed up.

No, the app does not have to completely restart. It gets shifted in its open state into storage. Similar to how a computer uses the hard disk when it has insufficient memory.
What complicates things is that sometimes memory does not get returned for reuse when you close an app. Thus yo should periodically double click the Home button and "delete" unnecessary apps from the multitasking dock and power off and then back on the iPod.

Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

USB Mouse / Keyboard doesn't work after resuming from hibernate

I am using a USB device that splits out to 2 PS2 ports, one for a mouse, one for a keyboard. It works great, but when I put my X61 into hibernate, the mouse and keyboard do not work when I resume from hibernate.
I installed all the relevant patches and power manager drivers from the driver downloads page, but my mouse still doesn't work.
Can someone point me to the correct download or shed some light on this?

I have this same problem with this same device. It is a "composite USB device".
What I've notice is that the problem happens mostly with USB 1.1 ports. When the device is connected to a USB 2.0 port the problem doesn't happen always.
It depends on the computer though. I added a PCMCIA USB 2.0 adaptor to my laptop that has USB 1.1 only. And when I connect the USB-to-PS/2 cable to the USB 2.0 my mouse sometimes work after suspend/hibernate but sometimes doesn't.
However, on my other desktop computer, which has integrated USB 2.0 ports, this problem has never happened (I haven't tested it exhaustively though).
This is a Windows bug of course. Everything related to USB 1.1 support is buggy in Windows. One more example is the annoying (and possibly catastrophic) "Delayed write error" that appears when you use a external hard drive plugged to a USB 1.1 port.
I guess M$ is focusing their efforts on making USB 2.0 to work well and they have forgotten about USB 1.1. Or it could a problem related to "USB composite devices", hard to know.

Adobe Reader doesn't work after windows 7 update

Hello,
My Adobe Reader X was working fine, until one night where Windows 7 automatically updated, and after that Adobe Reader doesn't work anymore. It doesn't respond AT ALL when I click on it, and I cannot view PDF files anymore.
I uninstalled it, and re-installed it --- still doesn't work. I tried downloading version 9, but still it doesn't work.
I also tried to do system restore, but somehow it won't let me --- it says it failed to do so.
When I try to open PDF files in IE 10, it says "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader..." and an error code of 103:103.
Could anyone help me?

RM 900 remote doesn't work after driver update

After solving the proble of? "crackle, pops and noise" with a driver update for Audigy Platinum Ex, I see that my remote is no longer working, i've try reinstalling Remote Center from original drivers and applications CD and after a Volume Up or Down the Rear Left Speaker gives me no sound.
I've seen in others threads in the forum and they say about installing Media Source, but after installing it still doesn't work.
Any clue how to make it work again?
Using Windows XP SP3 and Audigy Platinum Ex.

Sorry to hear about all the trouble with the Apple TV. It sounds like you have done a restore but need to pair your Apple TV remote at this point. You can follow these steps to pair the remote:
Or, you can press and hold the Menu and Next/Fast-forward buttons on the white Apple Remote, or hold the Menu and right buttons on the aluminum Apple Remote, for 6 seconds to pair.

You mentioned you reset the phone. Does this mean you removed the battery & put it back in? Or does this mean you able to complete an actual Hard Reset?

Your information is generally backed up to Google or Backup Assistant and your SD Card. If possible, please sign in to double check.

Touch id scanner dead after update 7.1. Tried remove fingerprints but cannot add new fingerprint because the touch id scanner DEAD. Tried rebooting the device and touch id scanner still doesn't work. For somehow the scanner works when the iphone is charging even it works slower than before the ios 7.1 update. APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS!!!
