Dbca command is in progress status ,while installing 9i oracle

Hi All can you please help .............
i have sparc ultra 80 machine with solaris 9 , i copied the oracle software 9.i , and tried to install the oracle software through runInistaller , every thing is fine ,
But the issue is once executing the DBCA command to create the Database -- status is progress only for long time -about 10 hours --o i killed the process .......
Any body can suggest please ........
any document is available for installation ..

URGENT!Stuck while installing the Oracle apps 11.5.8 on Windows 2000 Server

Hi All,
I am installing the Oracle applications 11.5.8 on windows server 2000 using the rapid install 11.5.8.11(which was part of the cd pack).
I am using the Windows CD Pack(which consists of 19 cds)
To start with, it has passed all the pre install checks(including the utlity check, system check etc), every thing was succesful and then I started the installation.
And then I started installing, I inserted 1 cd at a time. Every thing went smoothly until the 5 cd. While processing the 5th CD, it started spawning the dos session and was trying to connect to the created database. And it was not able to do so.
I could see from the status bar that it was trying to run the scripts like adlicnse.sql, adclobtmp.sql ,adclobconv.sql
and throwing the following message
ora-01089: immediate shutdown in progress
and was asking me to enter the user name . When I entered the username and password, it throws the message saying that
"ora-01089: immediate shutdown in progress".
After such unsuccesful attempts for each of the above mentioned file, I finally go the "Oracle Applications Rapid Install Wizard Alert"
displaying the below message.
Error code received when running external process.
Check log file for details.
Running Database Install Driver for PROD instance.
and then with the "Retry" and "Abort" buttons. When I pressed the retry button,still get the same message. (And I did not find any log file to look for).
Please let us know what are we supposed to do now and what is the exact reason why it is not able to connect to the database.
I have not tampered with any of the files. This is a urgent requirement for us to install the oracle apps, please help us immediately and any help is widely appreciated.

your problem is not very unusual... I also faced the similar situation cpl of times when Oracle was not able to continue the installation coz the Immediate Shutdown was failed. Actually During the installation, Oracle mounts/opens the database and shuts it down many times and few times, Oracle is unable to shutdown cleanly as some process is hanging or not responding.
Piece of advise is that always use staging area to install Apps as it takes long time on Win2K (anything between 4-12 hrs) to install it and CDROM Access is lot slower than HDD. Also, it will prompt u every time to insert tbe CD. All this hassle can be bypassed by using the staging area. Read the Installation help document on how to create it.
For failure reasons, look in ur installation log file which is created in the default Temp folder usually C:\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp for WinXP or C:\winnt\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp for Win2K.

I got the following error while installing 10.1.3.3.1 Oracle BI Suite .
[nQSError: 46036] Internal Assertion: Condition GetAdaptersinfo( pAdapterinfo.get(), &ulOutBufLen) == NO_ERROR, file .\Config\SUSystemConfig.cpp, line 1297.
while the installation shows it is completed successfully ..
but admin tool is not started ....
even the BI server also is down and says - process terminated unexpectedly ..
Please help me out in this regards ....

Especially the admin tool installation is consistently throwing this error -

Error while installing personal oracle 8i

While installing oracle 8i ver 2 8.1.6 on Windows 98,the following error message is displayed...
"Jrew - This program has performed an illegal operation.if problem persists contact vendor."
and then the installation process is terminated.
please help!

Try to get the Latest version of OUI(universal installer) from somebody who has latest version of OUI or downlaod from technet..I had the same problem and i could install the 8i version with a new OUI version.
Also try install custom and skip Java tools ,because this will try upadte ur jre,and shuts down the installation.

Directory issue while installing software oracle on oel5.5

iam trying to install oracle10gr2 on OEL 5.5 for this iam following :-------

but in my case when i run ./runInstaller it takes my ORACLE_HOME as
u1/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1 then i browse it and make it as u1/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1 .... then i start with installation and when it is been prompted to logged in as root and execute the script first one i execute....... the second where it has been shown i.e cd $ORACLE_HOME/ when i execute iam not taken into db_1 directory....
i know iam going some where wrong so can u pls rectify me or tell me where am i going wrong.....

As oracle user, You can set environmental variables.
If it is fresh install, you can set oracle environmental variables using the following way:
$ . oraenv
ORACLE_SID [orcl] ? orcl
the following will list the environmental settings for oracle user:
$ env | grep ORA
As far as root is concerned, it is not aware of ORACLE_HOME path. So, you should manually include the path to execute the script.
# /u01/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/root.sh

ORA-12560 TNS: Protocol adapter error while installing database

Hello,
I'm having troubles while installing my oracle database 10g. My server is SUN OS 5.10
When I am in the copying datafiles step, a pop up message shows up [ORA-12560 TNS: Protocol adapter error]
Could you please help me?

I am creating the database the database.
I am relatively new in Oracle but I have created a DB before and the ORACLE_SID was set after the database was created.
The steps I execute for are:
1. Install the Oracle engine (without create the DB)
2. Install the Patch
3. Create the database (dbca)
After the database is created, appears a popup (Database configuration assistance warning) where it says to set the oracle_sid among others steps.
Is it mandatory to set the ORACLE_SID before? some other configuration that I could be missing?

You got these errors because runInstaller can not start the GUI. There are 2 solutions, you can choose one:
1. logout Gnome/Kde, login as oracle user, and run runInstaller again.
2.open a new root terminal,
a) run "xhost +" as root.
b) run "su - oracle" switch to oracle
c) run "export DISPLAY=:0.0"
d) then run "./runInstaller" again.

you have to have some system files in winnt system by oracle installer.
you can do this by ..
1)remove all ias installed products and its services from thet host.
2)run "wfs.exe" from 9iAS disk1.
3)reboot your host computer.
4)install iAS .

Error while doing the Oracle 9i Database Installation

PROBLEM ONE
While installing the Oracle Database 9i on Windows 2000 Server with 256 MB Ram, I got the following error
Windows - Wrong Volume
The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume ORCL9011_1 into drive E:.
This message occured when percentage done was 100%. It was copying visualsdo.exe
PROBLEM TWO
Then I deinstalled the Oracle 9i software and deleted the oracle folder from both the Windows Explorer as well as in the RegEdit.
Again I started doing the installation...
In Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, while it was installing "Adding Oracle JVM", I got the following error
"Oracle Database Configuration Assistant: ERROR"
"ORA-06576:not a valid function or procedure name"
When I clicked Ignore I got the following error
"Oracle Database Configuration Assistant: ERROR"
"ORA-04021:timeout occured while waiting to lock object

You have too few RAM on your machine, even you could successfully create an instance, it's going to slow as hell.
When you run DBCA to create database, instead of actually creating the database you could choose to dump the SQL scripts and files used for database creation to a directory. This way will give you a chance to modify pfile and reduce the SGA parameter. I believe the default SGA of instance created by DBCA is already beyond your RAM limit.

At which point did it occur to you that Windows 7 was developed and released after any version of Oracle 10g and was both uncertified and untested on this platform? ;)
10g will fall off the cliff into desupport in just two weeks. Toss it out and install 11.2.0.1.

looks like here is the your problem "An error occurred while getting information about the user moss.service
at server telenor.com.pk: Access is denied"
try to add the user into the managed account via powershell. the user you trying to configure it.
or change the user to some body else here is culprit account "telenorpk\moss.service"
