  • Dbconsole service does not start after renaming Hostname

    Hi,
    I installed 10g Rel 2 successfully on a Windows XP machine, and then renamed the Computer name (Host name) of the server machine, and now the dbconsole service (for Enterprise manager) does not start up and hence I cannot access the EM through the web browser.
    Is there a fixed list of files/directories to rename, if I want to access the Enterprise Manager Console, in such circumstances?
    I have already made changes in Tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files. But the service still won't start successfully. It gives a "Service-specific error 2".
    Thanks

    Hi,
    you also check .

  • Oracle DBconsole service does not start

    Hi,
    Db 10g 2 on Win XP pro. When I want start Oracle DBconsole service , it does not start. I receive a message from windows to see the provider and says that error code is 2. When I look at event logs of windows it is said abnormal exit and event code is 4. Cosequently it is impossible to see DB control in Internet Explorer browser.
    Thanks for your help.

    Thank you Madrid. I resolved the problem. I had this :
    set ORACLE_SID=ORCL2
    C:\Documents and Settings\> emctl stop dbconsole
    OC4J Configuration issue. C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_LAPTOP-145_ORCL2 not found.
    Actually I had C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1/oc4j/j2ee\LAPTOP-145.b-a-w.com_orcl. Then I should have create OC4J_DBConsole_LAPTOP-145_ORCL2.I created that and no more problem.
    My question is where emctl look for this name OC4J_DBConsole_LAPTOP-145_ORCL2 ? In tnsnames.ora, in sqlnet. ora or some where else ? Thank you.
    can anyone answer please ?

  • Windows listener service will not start automatically

    I just installed 11.2.0.3 Standard Edition One and when I reboot the server, the listener service is not started. The service is set to start Automatically. I have to login, open services and then push start.
    The oraceServiceSId does start automatically,
    The listerner service does not start automatically,
    The dbconsole service does not start automatically,
    The processManger1 service (from middleware) does not start automatically
    This is Windows 7 64 bit.
    Any ideas?

    I found where the services logs are recorded in the event viewer. Funny thing just happened, I was just about to do another reboot so I could check the logs when I noticed there were window updates in q.
    So after running the updates, the os requested to reboot . For the first time, the services started automatically.
    These are the updates which fixes the probem:
    Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2639417)
    Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2618444)
    Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2620712)
    Cumulative Security Update for ActiveX Killbits for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2618451)

    Just downloaded iTunes to new dell laptop, tried syncing my iPhone get an error message:  "this iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started".  What is the issue, had this phone over a year??

    I had this problem before. I like to disable extra services to speed up my computer and I disabled the Apple Mobile Device service and had to re-enable this.
    You can do that by going Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services. Once you have gone to the services window, look for Apple Mobile Device and right-click. Select "Properties". There should be some information about the service as well as the label "Startup Type" with a drop-down menu beside it. If it says "disabled", that is your problem; Change the selection to anything except disabled (Automatic is easier and ensures that you can sync as soon as itunes opens).
    If this doesn't work, I would look into your anti-virus' settings. Good Luck!

  • Windows Service does not start automatically

    Hi
    I have a .NET 4.5 C# windows service, StartType set to automatic. It is running fine in server.
    Few days ago, my server has windows update, including security update for .NET framework 4.5.1. Server auto restarted.
    However, my service is not started.
    By referring to eventlog, it shown as below sequence
    1. Explorer initiated restart - Shutdown type - restart
    2. Sql Server Service is stopped successully
    3. My Service is stopped successully
    -- Server restarted
    4. Sql Server Service is in running state
    5. My Service is stopped successully
    Question is, why my service is stopped instead of running/started? I checked event log and my app log, no error at all.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you

    I was thinking to set "SQL Server", but I am not sure what is the service name for the SQL service name.
    Anyway to specify like "SQL Server *" ?
    thank you
    The default instance service name is MSSQLSERVER, and MSSQL$[name] for a named instance. If you're not sure what the instance is, you could check the services.msc or the registry value in this registry hive:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\InstalledInstances

  • I just updated to the latest version of itunes, now when i plug in iphone it says "apple mobile device service is not started"  what do I do??

    I just updated to the latest version of itunes, n ow when I plug in my iphone, it says it cannot sync because "apple mobile device service is not started"  this never happen before, what do I do??

    The Apple Mobile Device Service is a part of sever programs that "help" iTunes on Windows. It may have been disabled in the Microsoft program, msconfig, or using a third party utility, such as CCleaner.
    I would suggest trying to find and enable the service. To do so, click on the start button, click "run",  and then type "msconfig" look for the iTunes Helper entry and make sure that it's enabled.
    Additionally, there may be another service which you will have to enable. You can type something like "service.msc", (I'm not sure exactly) to see the "Services" control panel and look for it there.
    If you can't find either, feel free to post here again.

  • Apple Moblie Device service is not started - Cannot be started.

    Running Windows 7 64bit and iTunes 10.1.0.54
    I've been able to sync my iPod in the past. Now, when I plug it in, I get the message "This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Moblie Device service is not started."
    Ok, so I try to start the Apple mobile device service. I get the following error: "Windows could not start the Apple Moblie Device service on Local Computer. Error 1067: The Process terminated unexpectedly."
    When I check my error log I see: "The Apple Mobile Device service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 56 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service."
    I've gone through the steps to uninstall every component of apple products found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925 to no avail. I've even gone through the verification step and no folders/files exist after uninstall. Still no dice upon reinstall.
    I've been uninstalling/reinstalling and googleing for a solution for about 3 hours now and haven't found a solution. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vyx

    I have Norton Security Suite and under (on norton)settings/firewall/programs find mobiledeviceservice instead of automatic i changed it to allow worked for me.

  • ITunes 9.2, the Apple Mobile Device service is not started...(crashed).

    "This iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started"
    The above shows each time I try to start iTunes after upgrading to 9.2 (from 9.1) this morning on my Sony Vaio (Windows 7 32 bit) laptop.
    The AMD service crashes as soon as iTunes starts; services control panel shows this and the event viewer confirms with : The Apple Mobile Device service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 6 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
    Restarting the service while iTunes is running does not provoke iTunes into listing my iPhone, which, under 9.1 was all working correctly.
    After removing iTunes, all associated apple programs, QuickTime etc, removing temporary files and so forth, then reinstalling 9.2, I'm left in the same place, each time I start iTunes, the AMD service crashes and iTunes does not list my iPhone.
    Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards, Gary Thomlinson

    Most people on here seem to be having problems with iTunes 9.2 on 64 systems, I however am on 32 bit.
    I've also noticed just this morning, that putting my old iPod on this computer does spring iTunes into life and the device shows/syncs. The iPhone 3GS however does not, causing the service to crash or just itunes to ignore the device. I've tried and restore/backup etc (via another computer) and still iTunes refuses to see the iPhone. This has SO got to be a bug.
    Irony is, my iPhone 4 arrives today, and this is the only computer I have access to at the moment, meaning no iPhone 4 activation today!!

    Hi,
    1. Stop the DBConsole. (set ORACLE_SID first & ORACLE_HOME)
    cd %ORACLE_HOME%\bin
    emctl stop dbconsole
    2. Update the <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emd.properties file.
    Change line from:
    tracelevel.main=WARN
    To
    tracelevel.main=DEBUG
    Decomment this line, so that the line becomes :
    EMAGENT_PERL_TRACE_LEVEL=DEBUG
    3. Update the <ORACLE__HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emomslogging.properties
    Change line from:
    log4j.rootCategory=WARN, emlogAppender, emtrcAppender
    To
    log4j.rootCategory=DEBUG, emlogAppender, emtrcAppender
    4. Remove/backup all log files from ORACLE_HOME/<hostname_sid>/sysman/log
    5. Start the dbconsole and upload the output of each command
    - start the dbconsole: "emctl start dbconsole"
    - issue "emctl clearstate"
    - status the dbconsole: "emctl status dbconsole"
    - check the status of the agent until it comes up: "emctl status agent"
    - force an upload: emctl upload
    6. Check If you are able to view the dbconsole Page & login
    check below logs may be you can see the close error messages to solve the issue.
    <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/log directory
    <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emoms.properties
    Otherwise re-create the DBconsole using the metalink doc 278100.1 : How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database. (Please check the steps from Recreate/ReConfig DB Control, if you want to re-create)
    Thanks.

    My iPad air would not start.  Only show the apple logo then no reaction after that.  This is already the 2nd time.  Last time I sent back to the service center and they said it is the system problem and reset the system and charge me for the service because they said it is not a hardware problem.  It happened less then 30 days and same problem again.  Can someone please send me the hard-reset step so I can try myself before I send back to the service center again?  thanks

  • Vista SP1 - CF Service will not start

    Running Vista Business. Life was good, I was productive! (CF 8 btw).
    After installing Vista SP1, CF service will not start. Digging a little deeper, turns out JRUN can't fire off "coldfusion", one of the servers listed. Here is the error:
    04/06 11:49:20 error Failed to create new connection
    java.net.SocketException: select failed
    at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketAccept(Native Method)
    at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.accept(PlainSocketImpl.java:384)
    at java.net.ServerSocket.implAccept(ServerSocket.java:453)
    at java.net.ServerSocket.accept(ServerSocket.java:421)
    at jrun.jms.core.kernel.mipc.MultiplexConnectionServer.run(MultiplexConnectionServer.java:15 4)
    Some digging turned up the possiblity that the jndi.properties file isn't being read. Changed permissions on it to let everyone in. Heck, you guys can probably get at it right now form where you are its so open!
    More digging, turns out Windows Firewall like to block port 2930, which is apparently used for internal communication with jndi settings or some such. Opened that up. Found evidence of further internal communication on port 900, opened that up to.
    Found this very useful and a bit scary info about missing DLLs and so forth:
    http://www.communitymx.com/content/article.cfm?page=6&cid=224AA
    Found reference to the updated Vista TCP/IP stack being a culprit in some cases, which often seemed to come down to, get this, a new host file entry for localhost: ::1  localhost. Commented that out, still no joy.
    Tried reinstalling. Still no go.
    Pretty much exhausted all possibilities I was able to think of or find info about.
    Any ideas or similar experiences? Or, failing that, the address of a tall building to jump off? Thanks!

    Read the manual?!?! No way, never! That would be like... stopping at a gas station to ask for directions!
    But seriously, I did poke around there a bit. I do tend to forget that there is more to there is more there than the language reference.
    Never been stuck like this though. Probably done over 100 installs dating back to CF4 on just about all windows flavors but have never had to dig in to the guts of the underlying Java like this.
    Thinking it has to be something unique to this machine; I have done other Vista installs of CF8 with only minimal issues (typically having to set the service to run under an account that has permissions, maybe even set jrun.exe and jrunsvc.exe to execute under an admin account, but thats about it). Unfortunately, partially because of the environment we operate in, a fresh workstation install is a good day and half to two day ordeal.
    Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope!

  • "The TestStand service did not start up promptly"

    I have a LabView Operator Interface startup problem with TS 4.1. If
    the OI is started immediately after system boot the operator may get apopup error from TestStand:
    "The TestStand service did not start up promptly"
    The
    TestStand Service has a dependency on RPC so if either does not startup
    before the operator launches the OI, he gets the message. If he
    dismisses the message there is no further error i.e. the software
    continues to work OK.
    The real problem is the end user does not like this message and wants it removed.
     Any suggestions how I can get rid of this message?
    Only ideas I can see at the moment - either to have some kind of
    delay timer on startup (this would need to be around 1-2  mins after
    boot
    on the system in question to stop it happening) or perhaps some LabView
    code to poll the status of the TestStand service somehow so that we
    wait for service to start before the OI communicates with testStand -
    and thus the
    popup does not occur.

    The service should not normally take any significant amount of time to startup. There are some issues with service startup that we have noticed in some cases, but I don't remember the details. I will try and find out and get back to you. In the meantime, or as a possible solution, you can use the Windows SDK to check the status of the service and to wait until it is running. I'm not sure if the following can be directly translated into LabVIEW dll calls, but it would definitely be possible to create a C/C++ dll with the following code in it and call it from LabVIEW (If you do not have access to a C/C++ compiler and/or would like me to, I can probably build a dll with this code in it for you):
    int MakeSureServiceIsRunning(void)
        SERVICE_STATUS serviceStatus;
        SC_HANDLE hService = NULL;
        SC_HANDLE hSCM = NULL;
        // Put variable into a good initial state for return value.
        serviceStatus.dwCurrentState = SERVICE_START_PENDING;
        hSCM = OpenSCManager(NULL, NULL, SC_MANAGER_CONNECT);
        if (hSCM == NULL)
            goto Error;
        hService = OpenService(hSCM, "National Instruments TestStand Service", SERVICE_QUERY_STATUS);
        if (hService == NULL)
            goto Error;
        do
            if(!QueryServiceStatus(hService, &serviceStatus))
                goto Error;
            if(serviceStatus.dwCurrentState != SERVICE_RUNNING)
                Sleep(100); // don't just do busy waiting, give up cpu time to other threads.
        while(serviceStatus.dwCurrentState == SERVICE_START_PENDING);
    Error:
        if (hService != NULL)
            CloseServiceHandle(hService);
        if (hSCM != NULL)
            CloseServiceHandle(hSCM);
        if (serviceStatus.dwCurrentState == SERVICE_RUNNING)
            return 1;
        else
            return 0; // An error occurred, or service is in an unexpected state.
    Or alternatively, if you want to do the polling inside of LabVIEW you could just do the following in the C/C++ dll:
    int GetTestStandServiceStatus(unsigned int *serviceStatusReturnResult)
        SERVICE_STATUS serviceStatus;
        SC_HANDLE hService = NULL;
        SC_HANDLE hSCM = NULL;
        hSCM = OpenSCManager(NULL, NULL, SC_MANAGER_CONNECT);
        if (hSCM == NULL)
            goto Error;
        hService = OpenService(hSCM, "National Instruments TestStand Service", SERVICE_QUERY_STATUS);
        if (hService == NULL)
            goto Error;
        if(!QueryServiceStatus(hService, &serviceStatus))
            goto Error;
        *serviceStatusReturnResult = serviceStatus.dwCurrentState;
        CloseServiceHandle(hService);
        CloseServiceHandle(hSCM);
        return 1; // success
    Error:
        if (hService != NULL)
            CloseServiceHandle(hService);
        if (hSCM != NULL)
            CloseServiceHandle(hSCM);
        return 0; // An error occurred. Perhaps TestStand service isn't registered.

    First of all, I assume you mean "... up it does NOT start ..."?
    It might be helpful to point out that the purpose of the NodeManager is not to start the servers, but to "control" the servers through remote commands. When the NodeManager starts back up, it tries to reset the servers to the last known state it set them to, based on remote commands.
    For instance, if your system was running and you stopped the servers through the admin console and then restarted the machine, the NodeManager would not start the servers on machine startup, because the last controlled state of the servers was down. If all of your WebLogic servers were running as a result of NodeManager commands, and you pulled the plug on the box, when you restarted the machine, the NodeManager probably would restart the servers.

  • CiscoWorks Tomcat Servlet Engine service does not start

    Hello!
    CiscoWorks  Tomcat Servlet Engine service does not start.
    Events in the Windows Event Viewer:
    The CiscoWorks Tomcat Servlet Engine service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).
    output pdshow and file stderr.log,  hs_err_pid2128.log attached.
    Do  you have an idea how to resolve this?
    Thanks!

    The only things which I see are wrong are the start types for the IPM NG database engine and HUM database engine services.  They must be set to Manual, not Automatic.  However, that would not account for the Tomcat crash.  The crash points to an error in the code which processes regdaemon.xml, but I see no reason why that should be failing.  As I said before, I think it would be best to open a Service Request.  Remote access would be helpful to dig into this problem in more detail.
