When I checked the service in XP control panel, DBConsole for the oracle instance not started. When I tried to start the service, I am getting message "unable to start the service in a timely fashion".
How to start the service. Please help me.
Thanks in Advance.
Thanks

  • Dbconsole service does not start after renaming Hostname

    Hi,
    I installed 10g Rel 2 successfully on a Windows XP machine, and then renamed the Computer name (Host name) of the server machine, and now the dbconsole service (for Enterprise manager) does not start up and hence I cannot access the EM through the web browser.
    Is there a fixed list of files/directories to rename, if I want to access the Enterprise Manager Console, in such circumstances?
    I have already made changes in Tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files. But the service still won't start successfully. It gives a "Service-specific error 2".
    Thanks

    Hi,
    1. Stop the DBConsole. (set ORACLE_SID first & ORACLE_HOME)
    cd %ORACLE_HOME%\bin
    emctl stop dbconsole
    2. Update the <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emd.properties file.
    Change line from:
    tracelevel.main=WARN
    To
    tracelevel.main=DEBUG
    Decomment this line, so that the line becomes :
    EMAGENT_PERL_TRACE_LEVEL=DEBUG
    3. Update the <ORACLE__HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emomslogging.properties
    Change line from:
    log4j.rootCategory=WARN, emlogAppender, emtrcAppender
    To
    log4j.rootCategory=DEBUG, emlogAppender, emtrcAppender
    4. Remove/backup all log files from ORACLE_HOME/<hostname_sid>/sysman/log
    5. Start the dbconsole and upload the output of each command
    - start the dbconsole: "emctl start dbconsole"
    - issue "emctl clearstate"
    - status the dbconsole: "emctl status dbconsole"
    - check the status of the agent until it comes up: "emctl status agent"
    - force an upload: emctl upload
    6. Check If you are able to view the dbconsole Page & login
    check below logs may be you can see the close error messages to solve the issue.
    <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/log directory
    <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname_sid>/sysman/config/emoms.properties
    Otherwise re-create the DBconsole using the metalink doc 278100.1 : How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database. (Please check the steps from Recreate/ReConfig DB Control, if you want to re-create)
    Thanks.

  • Oracle DBconsole service does not start

    Hi,
    Db 10g 2 on Win XP pro. When I want start Oracle DBconsole service , it does not start. I receive a message from windows to see the provider and says that error code is 2. When I look at event logs of windows it is said abnormal exit and event code is 4. Cosequently it is impossible to see DB control in Internet Explorer browser.
    Thanks for your help.

    Thank you Madrid. I resolved the problem. I had this :
    set ORACLE_SID=ORCL2
    C:\Documents and Settings\> emctl stop dbconsole
    OC4J Configuration issue. C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_LAPTOP-145_ORCL2 not found.
    Actually I had C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1/oc4j/j2ee\LAPTOP-145.b-a-w.com_orcl. Then I should have create OC4J_DBConsole_LAPTOP-145_ORCL2.I created that and no more problem.
    My question is where emctl look for this name OC4J_DBConsole_LAPTOP-145_ORCL2 ? In tnsnames.ora, in sqlnet. ora or some where else ? Thank you.
    can anyone answer please ?

    /opt/oracle/product/10.2/db_1/linux-tkuk.site_orcl/sysman/config/emd.propertiesdoes not match the current environment TZ setting().
    The dbconsole cannot run with this mismatch.
    If GMT is the correct timezone, set your timezone environment variable to GMT and repeat the 'emctl start dbconsole' operation.
    If GMT is not the correct timezone, make sure that the timezone in your environment is correct, and then run the following command in your local Oracle Home: 'emctl resetTZ agent'
    The output of this command will include detailed instructions to follow, to correct the mismatch.
    here it says to change the time zone...how to do that.....!

  • Missing DBConsole Service (10g)

    I created a database in 10g a month ago and got a set of create scripts. Today, I try to use these scripts to create the production database. All seem to be OK except the DBConsole service is nowhere to be found.
    How to create this service? I am using WS2003. emctl.bat gave me lot of messages complaining about missing directories and files.
    dbca must forget to put this step in one of the script files.
    Thanks.

    Not emctl.bat, but emca.bat is used to set up and configure DBConsole. If selected, while DBCA is running, emca is called automatically.

  • DBConsole service can't start

    when I start DBConsole , its giving the following error (Window based services).
    ?Windows could not start the OracleDBConsolertlg on local computer. For more information, please review the system event log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor or refer to service specific error code 2.
    Can anyone help me about the resolution?
    Sharmi

    Happens to me all the time - when I have messed up the networking on the Windows box. The [my] problem is almost always traced back to the route setup in the Windows config. I typically use 2 network adapters. One will be set to 'extranet' and the other for 'intranet'. The problem is usually that the network route sends the request to the extranet even when I want the request to stay local. My solution is usually to disable the adapter that goes to the outside world, start up the DB Console, enable the adapter.
    That said - this is NOT the correct forum for this kind of question. Don't know whether you missed it, but the title of the forum includes the message " (Do Not Post Product-Related Questions Here)"

  • Upgraded to 10.2.0.3 and DBConsole is gone

    Windows 32 Oracle with 2 instances on the machine; upgraded from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3
    updated one instance at a time and everything seemed to install successfully. Opening Enterprise Manager after the upgrade was complete displayed a page not found. Restarted the service and was able to see the Enterprise Manager log in page and logged into the database successfully. The Oracle version displayed on the startup page still said 10.3.0.1, sql commands display 10.2.0.3 as does the Oracle installer. Enterprise Manager for both databases behaves the same.
    To try and remedy the problem I tried reinstalling the 10.2.0.3 patch set. The reinstall went smoothly but during the database upgrade I received an error message indicating
    Could not complete the Enterprise Manager configuration.
    Enterprise manager configuration failed due to the following error-
    Could not backup file c:\oracle\product\10.2.0
    \db_2\oc4j\j2ee\OC4J_DBConsole_%hostname%_%Database%
    Following the path, the file exists and looking at the log just shows the same message.
    So after that attempt the DBConsole service is completely gone from AdminTools, Services. Before it was there and said it was started, but needed restarting to connect and then it listed the wrong version and would disconnect and not work again after 10 minutes. I don't really know if there is a way to install 10.2.0.3 differently than shutting down all the services for each database and doing them individually. My next thought is to try and reinstall dbConsole from scratch since the service is gone and not even available.

    Try this => "Manually configure the Oracle 10g EM dbconsole"

  • EM dbconsole won't start after upgrade from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4....Arrrgh!

    Hi All,
    I'm having a problem getting the dbconsole started on an upgraded 10g r2 db.
    OS = XP 64bit
    DB = 10.2.0.4
    It was working when it was 10.2.0.1. After the upgrade process ran :-
    emca -upgrade db
    this completed upto the point of starting the dbconsole at which point it tried and tried but eventually timed out. So I removed and recreated the repository
    emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop
    emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create
    , same resultant problem as before. Finally following these instructions :-
    Link
    This resulted in the OUI failing due to time out of the dbconsole startup.

  • Windows listener service will not start automatically

    I just installed 11.2.0.3 Standard Edition One and when I reboot the server, the listener service is not started. The service is set to start Automatically. I have to login, open services and then push start.
    The oraceServiceSId does start automatically,
    The listerner service does not start automatically,
    The dbconsole service does not start automatically,
    The processManger1 service (from middleware) does not start automatically
    This is Windows 7 64 bit.
    Any ideas?

    I found where the services logs are recorded in the event viewer. Funny thing just happened, I was just about to do another reboot so I could check the logs when I noticed there were window updates in q.
    So after running the updates, the os requested to reboot . For the first time, the services started automatically.
    These are the updates which fixes the probem:
    Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2639417)
    Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2618444)
    Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2620712)
    Cumulative Security Update for ActiveX Killbits for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2618451)

  • Help with starting the EM dbconsole please - emctl error.

    Hi there - i've spent half my life trying to sort this and it's in vain. There's only 9 hits in google for the below error message and half of those are in Japanese. Not much help therefore. So any advice to be gratefully received!
    I've installed enterprise manager with the option for Oracle to create a new repository. All seems to have installed ok. I've issued the set oracle_sid and the usual "emctl status dbconsole" command and i always get the "unable to locate web application configuration from ." error.
    I can't see any oracle dbconsole service in the services window either. Should there be one or does this get created when you run a successful "emctl start dbconsole" command?
    I've tinkered with the Oracle homes (as per previous discussions) but to no avail.
    Appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction - I'm a newby to Enterprise Manager.
    Thanks in advance. Jon

    Nope. Still exactly the same.
    Error as per previous server before i started hacking it (emctl status dbconsole): "Unable to locate web application configuration from ." I'm completely losing my mind with this install. This same error has happened on 3 different servers now. Always falls over on this agent configuration. Don't Oracle test their installation procedures? Anyway, here's a not so useful snippet of the logs. If anyone knows anything, would be good to let me know - otherwise change of career for me :-(
    Cheers...

  • How to start service to run Discoverer Viewer on 10.2 EE on web-port 7778?

    I have installed 10.2 EntEdition db on Windows, with OLAP and DataMining options "on", and wish to know what steps can enable me to run Discoverer Viewer (for example, http://mymachine:7778/discoverer/viewer ). What service must be turned on for there to be a response on this port?
    I have already started the DBconsole service (port 1158) , the isqplus service (port 5560 through isqlplusctl) and the tns listener service (through lsnrctl). What service do I start to get a response on port 7778 or 7777?
    I hope I don't need AS to run Discoverer Viewer...
