Dbcontrol migrate to enterprise manager cloud control 12c
Currently we are using Oracle 11gR2 database in our enterprise and manage them with EM database control.
We're planning to migrate to centralized management with oracle enterprise manager cloud control 12c.
Is it possible to manage DBs both ways, with db control AND using EMCC agent simultaneously?
Is there a easy way to migrate db control managed DBs to be managed by agent?
I've searched EM documentation but didn't find any topic about this job.
Hi P2
Yes You can manage DB from both. But why you are going to use EM instead of Cloud Control 12. You Can do each and every work from it more tan EM. Cloud Control 12c is very good tool.
No. But You can easily setup them using manual agent push or auto discovery method from cloud control 12c. You need to create password less ssh login to both side for oracle user and open the relevant ports from network. It is very easy. After add agent you can add targets from relevant hosts easily.
Thanks

So I tried to find it out on Oracle docs and on the internet, on my environment but I was not able to find this info.
Could you guys help me?

The easiest way is to run emctl status oms -details command from OMS_HOME/bin and check for the value for Console URL
example
$ emctl status oms -details

Oracle VM and Oracle VM Template for Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c M
Hello!
After installation of *"Oracle VM 3.1.1 Media Pack v1 for x86_64 (64 bit)"* to bare hardware
can I install Oracle VM Template for Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Media Pack ?
Is it the wrong plan ?
What to do if I need to set VLAN №1 ? (according note of installer I have to choose number between 2 and 4094 )
Thanks and regards,
Pavel
Edited by: Pavel on Jul 30, 2012 5:01 AMYes, you can install Oracle VM Manager, create a server pool with the one parent Oracle VM server in it, and then deploy the Oracle VM template in the pool. Once EM VM is up and running, you can register the same Oracle VM Manager with EM, to manage the pool.
In general, it is not recommended that you use the OVM server backend directly. But for bootstrapping the EM environment, you can also try the following:
Download the OVM Template on the Oracle VM server. From the OVM server terminal itself you can do "xm create" to spin a new virtual machine using the Oracle VM teamplate. Once the VM comes up, VNC into the VM and configure the EM OMS and agent. -

Agent is Running and Ready
However from OMS server (OECC 12c)
From Setup -> Add Target -> Configure Auto Discovery
Configure Auto Discovery -> Database - Listener -> Agent Based -> Configure
Add Host -> Target Type = Host
Target Name = rac1
Host Name = 192.168.1.12 -> Search -> AND NO TARGETS FOUND
Why
Recommendations Appreciated!If I am understanding correctly, you are looking to discovery a RAC DB on a host on which you deployed an agent. The auto discovery configuration you mention is used to configure the frequency of automatic discovery on a given host after the initial deployment. Normally, you do not need to do anything in this screen.
Immediately after initial installation and successful registration, the agent will search the host automatically for database installations and report its findings to the OMS. These results can be seen in Setup->Add Target->Auto Discovery Results on the Non-Host targets tab. Here you can search by host and you should see a Cluster Database target. To get the target under management, select it and click Promote and follow the wizard.
You can also initiate a discovery of databases on a host by going to Setup->Add Target->Add Targets Manually. Select Add Non-Host targets using Guided process. Select target type in drop down of "oracle database, Listener and Automatic Storeage management". The click Add Using Guided Discovery. Here the agent will immediately scan the host and show the results which you can then complete the target addition process.
If I am misunderstanding you please let me know.

Hi,
When we run the setup.exe (Disk 1) on windows machine, Installation Wizard does not appear. So we couldn’t go ahead further steps for the installation. Please help us.
Thanks,

Please validate whether there is any Anti Virus installed on your Windows machine...
If it is installed, disable it temporarily... The Anti Virus typically blocks such Installers.exe which are about to generate more than 65535 files...
Second possibility can be you don't have enough permission i.e. you don't have Admin permission on this Windows machine...
Third possibility can be that the installer in itself might be corrupt... -
How to disable autostart of Enterprise Manager Cloud Control (EMC12cr2)
Hi Everyone,
I am new to Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 2 ( EMC12cr2)
Recently, I have installed EMC12cr2 on Oracle Linux 6.3. I follow one document to install, and It was ok after the installation.
But after I reboot the testing server, I found out that it is very slow as the EMC12cr2 services are auto start at boot such OMS, and agent.
So could you please tell me how to disable the EMC12cr2 or OMS service from auto startup, so that it makes the system reboot faster.
Thanks in advance,Take a look at this article on My Oracle Support - 1478617.1
It's a little older, but the same idea applies. There is a script in /etc/init.d/ called gcstartup, you can comment out the startup lines in there with a hashtag. -

How to install Enterprise Manager Cloud Control on Oracle Linux 6.2
Anoyone know if it's possible to install this product to Oracle Linux 6.2 ?
I have an error with this librarie : glibc.i686 : The GNU libc libraries
Thank You!Anyone know if it's possible to install this product to Oracle Linux 6.2 ?It's not certified on OL6, so you will be on your own, support-wise.
I have an error with this librarie : glibc.i686 : The GNU libc librariesAre you on a 64-bit platform? You probably don't have the 32-bit libraries installed. Assuming you are registered with ULN, or http://public-yum.oracle.com do this:
# /usr/bin/yum install -y glibc.i686Expect to get a lot of RPM's. Expect to do this again a few more times with other packages as well. Even then it may not work; best of luck. -
Hello everybody i use Oracle Database EE 11.2.0.4 with DG.
In those cases i need to get Enterprise Manager Database Control running against DB with no RAC and no DG i perform the following steps:
I Logon SQLPLUS as user SYS or SYSTEM, and drop the sysman account and management objects:
DECLARE
CURSOR c1 IS
SELECT owner, synonym_name name
FROM dba_synonyms
WHERE table_owner = 'SYSMAN';
BEGIN
FOR r1 IN c1 LOOP
IF r1.owner = 'PUBLIC' THEN
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM '||r1.name;
ELSE
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP SYNONYM '||r1.owner||'.'||r1.name;
END IF;
END LOOP;
END;
DROP USER mgmt_view CASCADE;
DROP ROLE mgmt_user;
DROP USER sysman CASCADE;
After that i run
emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
But what should i do in cases i have 2 servers working (primary and standby) under DG rules?Hi ,
It is not possible to monitor/administer a Logical or Physical Standby database, i.e Data Guard, using Enterprise Manager Database Control. This is primarily due to the fact that Database Control is designed to monitor 1 database and a Data Guard environment, by definition, includes more than 1 database.
If you attempt to run emca against a standby Database, you will get an error like (i.e. ORA-01219: database not open).
Database Control, can, of course, be used to monitor the current Primary database (with no ability to administer or monitor Data Guard related functionality). In such a case, when failover occurs Database Control must be reconfigured to run on the new Primary database using the commands detailed in Note 278100.1 How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database, section C. Recreate/ReConfig DB Control, Option 2. Recreate the DB Control Configuration Files and Repository.
Enterprise Manager Grid Control or Cloud Control provides the functionality for viewing, monitoring, and administering primary and standby databases in a Data Guard configuration.
Reference: Is it Possible to Configure Database Control for a Logical or Physical Standby Database? (Doc ID 315116.1)
You can use EM 12c cloud control to monitor and manager Standby DB effectively

EM Cloud Control 12c has no databases
Hello @ all,
i've installed Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12.1.0.2.0 on a virtual machine with RedHat Linux 6 and configured the EM by installing it so, that he should connect to my test database server with Oracle 11g 11.2.0.3.0 to watch over that. The installer get a valid connection to that database server.
Now, after install, i want to test the connection. So i started the Overview of EMCC in my browser, connected as SYSMAN, selected the "Database Home" and at the frame "Database Loadmap" there displays the message "no databases available". But the database at the test server is running without any problem:

Cloud Control 12c: Configuration Details Error
Hi,
I'm currently in the process of installing the Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c, after typing the configuration details (step 5 of 8), I get an error popup window stating the following:
The following prerequisite check failed because the ORacle Database, where the Management Repository will be configured, does not meet the configuration requirements. Fix the issue manually base on the recommendation offered for this prerequisite, and click OK. For more details check the logs: /oraInventory/logs/emdbprereqs
Prereq Name:
Check the compatible instance prarameter value.
Recommendation:
The compatible instance parameter must be set to the same version value as the database instance of the EM repository.
When I check the repos_perf.log, I see the following fails:
Executing Prereq Action
executing Action: select count(*) from v$log where 300000000 > bytes
output: 3
Prerequisite failed
Running component repos_perf Done
Executing component :repos_perf
Running component repos_perf Done
How can I set parameter?
Thanks,
OlivaresHi Olivares,
Assuming your question is about setting the compatible initialization parameter, you can connect to the repository database (e.g. using sqlplus as user system or sys) to execute the following command, then restart the database:
ALTER SYSTEM SET COMPATIBLE = <value> SCOPE=SPFILE;
EX:
ALTER SYSTEM SET COMPATIBLE = '11.2.0.0.0' SCOPE=SPFILE;
If necessary, see the following doc for guidance on the parameter value:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e22624/appdx_about_emprereqkit.htm#CIHHBGFD

Cloud Control 12c identifies unused Weblogic version on Managed Server
I'm using Cloud Control to monitor our domain. In this case I upgraded from WebLogic 10.3.1 to Weblogic 12.1.2.0.0 by installing 12c on a separate Oracle/Middleware/Oracle_Home and updateing the startup script to use this new WL_Home location.
The Weblogic 10.3.1 installation is still there.
When I connect through Cloud Control to discover the Middleware Targets (WebLogic) it identifies my server as being 10.3.1
I checked the path and classpath in the startup script and there are no references to the 10.3 path. How is the cloud control agent finding the inactive one ?
any help is appreciatedFor the error messagee:
Shell path is incorrect or not defined.:/usr/local/bin/bash(SH_PATH),-c(SH_ARGS) on host XXX. Check the property values in the following files in this order, ssPaths_<plat>.properties or sPaths.properties or Paths.properties, in "/oracle/em12c/oms/oui/prov/resources" directory.For more details, refer to the Oracle Enterprise Manager Basic Installation Guide.
yes , you are suppose to change the shell patch as its at a different location.
The file where you have to chnage is: $<OMS_HOME>/oui/prov/resources/hpi.properties and change the variable: SH_PATH=
Try the agent deployment
On your another question: deploy manual agent , you have to get the em12c agent binaries usings elf update console. For information on Self Update and how you can use it to download the software, see the chapter on Self Update in the Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Administrator's Guide.
