DBi Antenna Power control
we proposed a wireless network solution to the customer with 4400 Series WLAN Controller for up to 25 Lightweight APs and 1000 Series 802.11a/b/g AP w/Int Ant and RP-TNC, ETSI cnfg with 6 DBi antenna.
Can i control the DBi antenna power by using WLAN Controller ??? Or in any other way..
Please provide me the assistance on above

During the site survey, we used the 1230 and assigned tx power based on 100mw, 50, 30, 10, 5.. so on.. on the AP. But when we implemented the controller-based, the transmit power were replaced with 'power levels', 1,2,3,4... so on... I read somewhere that 1 is the max and as the level increases, it is 50% less. say, 1=100mw, 2=50 mw, 3=25mw, 4=12.5, 5=6.25 and so on...
the confusion is, some AP's were set to 30mw of tx power during the site survey. Which level should be the euqivalent as tx power level on the wlc-based deployment? is it safe to assign the 30mw site survey data to the #3 tx power level on the controller?
And do you have ideas on the effect of using or assigning the country codes of the controller. If US is used, what is the max power level value, 100mw? And if US is used as country code, can we used any AP on any country domain. I checked out the chart, but it's quite confusing. Hope you can, or anyone can, shed light on this.

[solved] systemd power control doesn't work
Since there is no way of getting systemctl power control work without sudo, I tried modifying sudoers to allow my user to operate them without password.
However, it still won't work.
I tried that
cross ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/hibernate,/usr/bin/systemctl suspend,/usr/bin/systemctl reboot,/usr/bin/systemctl suspend,/usr/bin/systemctl hibernate
and I tried that
cross ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/bin/systemctl
The result was the same:
$ systemctl suspend
Failed to issue method call: Access denied

you have to use "sudo systemctl suspend" still, sudoers is only affecting sudo behavior as it was mentioned...

K430/K450: here`s the SOLUTION to Lenovo Power control switch not working anymore.
If your power control switch isn`t working anymore BUT you didn`t unistall it or erase some of his files, chances are that over time some software/update took control of some setting used by the Lenovo switch.
If this is the case, before reinstalling the software, try the following:
1 - Check your power plan option, if is on something else than Lenovo change your power plan option (scheme) to Lenovo Power Scheme.
2 - Access your pc advanced startup setting (win+x) check for the services LitModeCtrl and LenovoComService and set the two services to automatically start when the computer startsup. If it`s not working 99% is because some software (the most common is Samsung SSD Magician) has set the two to "Manual". Change to "Auto".
3 - Reboot and the Power control switch software will be working again.
I wonder why no one from Lenovo advice this, but i`ve had to find a solution myself after countless hit & miss attempts.hi FlashOfLight,

I buyed this desktop, and it worked well...BUT!... ->
I reinstalled (full HDD format) the Windows 7, and deleted my backup (recovery?) partition. When i finished the installing of Windows 7, the power control switch doesn't work anymore and the CPU meter has gone. Installed all drivers, downloaded from lenovo.com but there is no software for Power Control Switch and Cpu meter.

You should upload (or make) a software for power control switch with the original CPU meter.
You should support the users!

K450 doesn't have Power control switch?
Hi,
I recently bought a Lenovo Ideacentre K450 (refurbished) from lenovo outlet. When I received it I was a bit surprised that it doesn't have the power control switch, and there's no LED lighting as well. It looks more like a low-end K410. I suppose all K450 would have the power control switch, or am I actually wrong? The model # of my machine is 57314032, with i7-4770, 16GB DDR3 and 2TB hard drive.
Does anyone have any idea? Not a big issue but kind of annoying... Thanks in advance!

I suggest you contact Lenovo Post sales.
The Power Control Switch is a solid feature and not part of the optional ones.
It would be best if you would hear it from them since the unit is refurbished Im not sure if this is really how the system is.

K430 Power Control Switch software
Brand new K430. Just out of the box today. Ran Windows update and installed 50 or so updates. Uninstalled McAfee and that's all. When I right click on the Control Switch icon on the desk top and pick run as Administrator I'll get a Do you want to allow this program to make changes, say yes and then I get nothing. Pulled out the Lenovo DVD and installed all the drivers, didn't help. If I reboot, the Control Switch window opens for about 5 seconds and shows cpu at 46% then closes. If I click on the ? on the left I see power control switch 4.0.0.1226.
So what's the secret to getting the Control Switch software to work??
thanksI was puzzled by this too. You can pull up the switch by clicking on its icon down in the tray by your taskbar, which just makes a speedometer-thingy appear on your desktop. Tis completely useless as far as I can tell, aside from changing colors as I manually flip the switch atop the computer. Am I missing something?
Perhaps relatedly, when I change the settings in windows for when my display should turn off (10 minutes), and when my computer should go to sleep (never), this seems to have no effect -- it still shuts off the display in less than 5 minutes and then goes to sleep. I'm guessing this is because the windows settings get overridden by some sort of Lenovo power-controlling software, but I can't figure out how to adjust that. It might even be the same power-switch program that we've been having trouble opening in any useful way. Anybody have any ideas? -

Hey all,
I have a Cisco Aironet 1242G and an outdoor omni 12 dbi antenna. I hooked it all up to day (antenna is connected with a 100ft cable). My signal is very disappointing. I have it behind a garage and can only get about maybe 75 foot away and the signal gets very weak.
Is there something that needs to be configured in the aironet? I have enabled external antenna and played with the settings. Is the 12 dbi antenna just too much?What cable are you using? Usually for that long you would use LMR 400 and or LMR 600 to reduce attenuation. See this online calculator

IdeaCentre Power Control Switch Software
I have an IdeaCentre K430 on which I would like to do a clean Win 8.1 installation. I have the Win 8.1 installation DVD from Microsoft. If I do this clean installation of Win 8.1, is there any way for me to then install the Lenovo Power Control Switch software on my K430? I ask this because I can't find this software available for download anywhere on the Lenovo site. Thanks for your help.

I'm afraid that you cannot install the software back, Since it is one of the Proprietary software that came preload on your machine a download link for this is not available online.

Power control unit interface problem
I'm trying to get my intellegent power control unit running remotely through LabVIEW, but i'm having some slight problems. I want to make it a continiously running program so that the user can turn on or off the power to the outlets until they press the stop button. I've tried looping with a while loop but that doesn't seem to work quite right. Any suggestions?
I apologize, I didn't realize how vague I was being. I am trying to make it so that the front panel will basically mimic the instrument itself. I am not able, however, to do so because when I write the code with a while loop I use 'ok buttons' and 'power lights' and place them on the inside of the while loop. I will turn on the power to a switch and when the loop goes through the first iteration the power light and button will reset itself to the default position (light off and button labeled off) I have attatched the very basics of what i am having troubles with (both front panel and block diagram). Thanks.
