Dblink do not activate

Dear all
I created dbLink from oracle 8.1.7 to 11g but it does not activate, although SQLPlus is connected from client to remote database and working well. I set global_names = false in 8i and in 11g set sec_case_sensitive_logon = false.
Pls advise

as per ur advise i done following
1 - Ping the server
Ans: ok
2 - tnsping the server
Ans: ok
3 - test TNS at sqlplus: sqlplus scott/tiger@mydb
Ans: ok
4 - test inside sqlplus: select * from v$database@mydb
Ans: ok. it gives results
but issue that i face is that when i use mydb (remote db tnsname) in DBLink to configure database link, this link does not activate and give ORA-12640 error upon querying.
here is is my tnsname entry in client database 8.1.7
DBS.LDC.COM =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = SERVER1)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA = (SID = DBS)(SERVER = DEDICATED))
Now when I query to remote database using select count(*) from mytable@dbs it works fine.
but dblink that uses above tnsname do not activate.

I'm not that familiar with how FaceTime works. I know how to set It up but I don't use it. I just know that you can't activate in the UAE. I believe that you can activate in any country that permits it's use. Whether you will need a new ID or not, I can't confirm.
You can Google this and get all sorts of articles on workarounds. Apparently if you set up a VPN you can use it in the UAE. Here is one article that I found.

Sometimes it happens when phone is not connected to Internet. If it is not - try connect to itunes on the computer and activate again. If it is - good luck and advice to reset password.

Do you have a Sim card from the carrier the iPhone is locked to in the iPhone's sim card slot? Without one, you cannot activate the iPhone.

Itunes displays a message saying "there is no SIM installed in the phone you're trying to activate" even if there is the same SIM that was working minutes before.
The SIM works on a different phone I tested it.

“Could Not Activate EDGE” error message Update ...
Well it’s going on day 6 and still sporadic to no EDGE on my iPhone. At one time, it was thought to be a defective iPhone – since my partner’s iPhone works just fine.
After over three hours on the land line with AT&T and Apple, I was sent to the local Apple store for a replacement. Of course, as soon as I walked into the Apple store my iPhone worked just fine. ;-( The local store replaced my iPhone and suggested I go home and activate the phone as a NEW iPhone, that way if there was a bug in my data it would not carry over to the new phone. Did that and well… still sporadic to no EDGE. By the way, I have the Big White “E” to the right of the 5 bars and AT&T .
AT&T said last week they has “Software” issues in my area, but the CSR I talked to did not know what the issues were or if they were the cause of my problems. He did say they would call me back today to see how my iPhone was doing, but alas, no call back.
When I’m next to my partner, trying to access the same feature, his iPhone is just so fast. Mine hangs up, draws out and finally I get the error message, “Could Not Activate EDGE”. I am updated to version “1.1.4(4A102)”. New (refurbished) iPhone direct from Apple.
I remember reading a while back about some problems others had when they upgraded to from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4. I never had those problems, but it sure looks like they may have started. Does anyone remember what the problems with 1.1.4 were, what was done if anything to correct them, and best of all any suggestions?
By the way, this is Seattle, not some small – out of the way place where connection and signal strength is expected to be second rate. Also, I had full function of my iPhone from the day I bought it in June 2007, all the way up to Thursday March 20, at 2120.

On a new setup I get error message "'could not activate this table (3001)''

I am busy setting up my new playbook and get an error message on the software update screen: "'could not activate this table (3001)'' please try changing your settings.
What settings am I meant to change?
There is a button for settings and when I press this, the playbook takes me back to the connect to WI-FI screen. The WI-FI screen shows that I am currently connected. When I click on hotspot setup, the screen comes back and says I am already connected to the internet.
Can anybody please assist me to complete my setup so that I can start using the playbook?

Please help me! Error: Could not activate iPhone

After I restored my iPhone, I can not activate it with a message followed "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your Iphone to iTunes to activate it or try again in a couple of minutes..." I have tried several times but Nothing better happens!
