:-( dbmcli db_start error 1058

dbmcli db_start error 1058
Trying again and again ..., on Windows XP SP2, to install WAS 64 SP9 from the SAPPRESS cd I get an error and I get the same error at exactly the same place when trying to install WAS 64 SP11 downloaded from SDN.
I meanwhile have experience of retrying and of running uninstall.exe, stopping services "SAP DB WWW" or "XServer", running <CD Drive>:cleanup.exe and trying to recognise something in regedit.exe : nothing helped.
Can anyone tell me where I can read up on this?
The error occurs in Phase 6 of 29 with displayed message "MaxDB: putting database cold...".
XCMDOUT.LOG says:
"dbmcli.exe -n <mycomputer> -d J2E -u CONTROL,******** db_start
ERR
-24994,ERR_RTE: runtime environment error
1,'J2E' could not be started, rc = 1058 "
Some 30 seconds before that, sdbinst.log had noted:
"installation of MaxDB Server finished successfully".
A minute earlier sdbinst.1.log had noted:
"installation of MaxDB Runtime For SAP AS finished successfully Tu, Oct 18, 2005 at 15:42:07
please reboot your system for the changes to take effect!".
I would much appreciate any clue as to where to look to follow this thru.
I have tried searching for the above error here and for dbmcli here and for "phase 6" and for "db_start".
I have read https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/weblogs.sdn?blog=/pub/wlg/2086. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
I am on GMT+1 always.
I have tried Armin Groll's command "dbmcli -d J2E -u control, control db_state" (db_start produces the above error) and get "OK State OFFLINE".
Thanks for any help.

Hello,

  • Processing of Group Policy Failed - Single DC error 1058

I have been getting the error every 5 mins for awhile:
The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\xx.company\sysvol\xxx.company\Policies\{0000000-2323-2222-2222-333333}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this
event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following:
    a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller.
    b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
    c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.
So - this is a single DC 2008R2.  It started (I think) back when I joined another server on the domain and did a DCPromo to help build some redundancy.  DFS was/is not enabled, do I need to set this up to resolve this?
User are able to login and policy are working, I only see this error on the DC, but other than the error everything seems to be working fine.  I can access the share \\xx.company\sysvol\xxx.company\Policies\ and see it from all systems on the domain.
I looked for the Burflags to see if that would help but since there is no DFS there was nothing in the registry.
So at this point, I removed the secondary server via DCpromo, going back to just the 1 server DC but I still get the error.  DNS works. When I do a DCDiag everything looks ok except the SysVol - I get about 10 of these
          Starting test: SystemLog
An error event occurred.  EventID: 0x00000422
                Time Generated: 03/17/2015   14:49:41
                Event String:
The processing of Group Policy failed... blah blah - same as above.
I looked at this link because of the combination of the 2 errors - Error 1058 and 00422 but its suggesting Authoritative restore, but I don't have the replication.
Now I am wondering if there is a left over connection somewhere in the system that doesn't know that there isn't another DC on the network?
So - any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    >>Now I am wondering if there is a left over connection somewhere in the system that doesn't know that there isn't another DC on the network?
Did we clean up the metadata of the removed domain controller? If not, we can follow the article below to do this.
    Clean Up Server Metadata
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc816907(v=ws.10).aspx
Besides, on the existing domain controller, check Applications and Services Logs\FRS or DFSR logs in Event Viewer. If the issue persists, we can follow the method below to do an authoritative restore for Sysvol.
If we use FRS to replicate Sysvol, we can try to follow the article below to an authoritative restore for Sysvol.
Using the BurFlags registry key to reinitialize File Replication Service replica sets
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/290762
If we use DFSR to replicate Sysvol, we can try to follow the article below to do an authoritative restore for Sysvol.
How to force an authoritative and non-authoritative synchronization for DFSR-replicated SYSVOL (like "D4/D2" for FRS)

  • PCMCIA Wlan card is not detected: Error 1058: service cannot be started

    PLEASE HELP!
I am running WXP Pro for over 2 years and I have been connecting to the internet via a wireless pc card in my laptops PCMCIA slot with no problems. Suddenly last week it started to randomly disconnect and reconnect, and now it has gone off completely.
I bought a new WiFi card and still didn't work. I have checked the device manager and the PCMCIA cardbus driver is working fine as is every other device. The wireless card driver and some other network related drivers fail to start no matter what I try and how many times I try. I have tried another laptop and both my old card and the new one work fine.
All the device driver that I try to start have the error
"Error 1058: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it."
The card driver is installed, just not starting, it's like the laptop cannot detect or see the card in the slot
Please help; I am having trouble finding anyone with the same problem after a week of searching the web.

    Hi
This behavior can occur if the service is disabled or if the service is disabled for the hardware profile that you are currently using.
To enable the service do this:
    1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
    2. Double-click the service that did not start.
    3. Click the Log On tab.
    4. Verify that the service has not been disabled for the hardware profile that you are using. If it has, click Enable.
    5. Click the General tab. Verify that the service has not been disabled in the Startup Type box. If it has, click Automatic to have it start when you start the computer.

  • Dbmcli gives error  24941,ERR_NEEDLOGON or 24950,ERR_USRFAIL

This is probably a sytuoid question, but here goes...
    I'm running
    dbmcli -uUTL sqdd06,******** -d D06
where ******* is the default password I entered when installing SAP but I get the error above.   Similarly if I start it with the -d option and then do user_logon sqdd06,********
I tried it with user sdb and got the same result.  If there's some other userID I should be using I don't know it, as I don't remember creating it.

Thanks to all who replied.  Bit of background.  Installed Ides ECC6, MaxDB installed as part of it.  The system worked for a while but at a certain point froze.  Did a shutdown -r.  Appears to resttart OK (sapgui says waiting for a response (if the system ids down it normally says unable to connect); I see numerous sap entries in ps.   But since the gui never goes beyond "connecting..." I can't logon.
    In knldiag.old I see

    I thought to delete the log using exec_utility clear log.  [*}

I thought I needed a utility session to clear the log?
I'm able to log on with user control,******** as suggested by Natalia.  The output of xinstinfo D06 as requested:

If I'm right that the problem is the full log, how do I prevent this in future?  I hear there's some auto overwrite function but I don;t know how to aenable it.
If it's nothing to do with that, then kindly point me in the write direction...

Primary DC: Win2012.  BDC: Win2008. Clients: Win7, Win8.1.  Maintaining an old Win2003 terminal server to run legacy software.
Everything works fine for a look time until I added a new GPO to create a desktop shortcut on the client machines, Windows 2003 runs into Error 1030 (Cannot query list of GPO) and Error 1058 (Cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO, The system cannot find
the path specified) GP processing aborted).
Tried changing the GPO to target Win7 and 8.1 only.  Tried creating shortcut using Computer Config settings only as well as User Config settings only.  Deleting the GPO and creating it from scratch.  Nothing works, as soon as GPO is in place,
it disables the Win2003 from processing any other GPO.
No issue with the client machines or other Windows servers.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Roget Luo

    Hi Roget,
    Thanks for posting here.
Error 1030 and 1058 could be caused by many aspects.
Firstly, please run the command dcdiag on the command prompt of a DC to check if there are any error.
Secondly, make sure the DFS service is started on the domain controller, and set the Startup type to automatic.
What's more, make sure the TCP/IP Helper service  is started on the domain co, set it to Automatic and started it.

  • Error code starting DB12/DB13 amongst others

    Hi,
I am getting the following error message on one of our production systems, for example when I start DB12 or DB13:
    Name and Server     : PRD - <name>
    DBMRFC Function     : DBM_GETF
    Command             : BACKHIST
    Error               : DBM Error
    Return Code         :        -11
    Error message       : tp error:
It does not state what the TP error in question is. On our DEV system this is working as normal. When I test the connection in DB59:
    1. Connection Test Using "dbmcli db_state"
Error! Connection failed to node <name> for database PRD: tp error:
External program terminated with exit code 2
    2. Connection Test Using Command Mode "dbmrfc db_state"
       Name and Server     : PRD - <name>
       DBMRFC Function     : DBM_EXECUTE
       Command             : db_state
       Error               : DBM Error
       Return Code         :        -11
       Error message       : tp error:
    3. Connection Test Using Session Mode "dbmrfc db_state"
    4. Connection Test Using "native SQL"         ( PRD )
<name>  of course is the server name, I changed it because it is our customer's name.
Manually trying the dbmcli command works. It is an R3 enterprise system with kernel 640, TP patch level 3 (I know, very low, but it is the same on DEV). Both systems are Linux.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks!
    Best regards
    Mischa van Dinter

Starting with the note Sunil mentioned, I found another note which described the database integration. This integration has been done but for some reason was not complete anymore, maybe I broke it myself trying out stuff. However it's working now. Thanks!

What's the status of the corresponding Windows service? OS error 1058 means normally service is deactivated. In the worst case it could be necessary to remove the service from the registry. Afterwards reboot the machine and recreate the service by 'lsnrctl start'.

  • Windows Update Service Disabled - Error 80070422

    Hi,
On Windows Vista Ultimate SP1, when I go to Windows Update I see a "Check For Updates" button. When I click it I get an 80070422 error and "Try Again" button which does not work.
I have tried all that is explained in Help on this error, but it's still not working. Let me write in more detail: I opened "Administrative Tools", went to "Services", "Windows Update" service is disabled. I set the "Startup Type" to "Automatic", click on Apply and then I click the "Start" button to start the service. I get an error: 1058: "Windows could not start the Windows Update service on Local Computer", "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it".
I downloaded "WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" and installed it, hoping that the problem will be fixed, but no luck.
I read somewhere on this forum that a user faced a similar problem and searched in "Windows\System32" for "wu*.*" files and changed the security settings for all of them to allow SYSTEM and Administrators full control and re-registered through "regsvr32" all of the .dll files, but, after doing all of these I still had no luck.
My Windows Update still displays the error 80070422 and when I try to start the Windows Update service I get the error that the service cannot be started and it always sets itself on "Disabled", no matter what I do.
Could someone please help me with this problem? I really don't know what else to do.

On the third scan, no other infections were found. The files and locations and one or two registry entries are similar to what I suspected was not allright, so I guess the (right) virus has been found and eliminated. Have enabled Java in FireFox and everything seems fine, haven't touched Internet Explorer just to be on the safe side so I can't say anything about that, but everything looks allright. Seems this was the problem. Thanks again, mate, your post was a life saver.

    2. Second posted problem.
On which server did you run those commands?
The list of the database software packages has not /sapdb/ORA/db dependent Database kernel path
=> How did you create/install the ORA liveCache?
I´ve installed the livecache whit the installation guide, with the default paths of the sapinst. Only I´ve change the path of the datafiles.
    Please run as root user:
    cd /sapdb/programs/bin
    ./sdbverify
The output of the file sdbverify is more large. What part of the file are you need?
to check if the database software installed correctly.
    More thanks.

  • Please help, Iphoto crashes when trying to update my iphoto library

i recently upgraded my operating system to Lion OS x 10.7.3, and I bought the IPhoto 11' (9.2.1) from the app store. Now it crashes when I try to open after telling me it needs to update my library (version 8.1.2). It starts updating, but then crashes. I have tried rebuilding my library with IPhoto Library Manager, so I can get the program to work with this, but it also crashes in the attempt to rebuild.  I can open the program with an empty library, but then I can't get to my old photos.  I have also reinstalled Iphoto, without this helping. And I have tried to find these "receipts", and have deleted these. I also have deleted the QuickTime 7, which I still had, and I'm now only running the QuickTime Player 10.1. Now I have to ask you for help. Here is a copy of the first part of the crash report:

I did as you suggested, and finally I got to reinstall Lion, but the problem persist. Is there no way I can repair only QuickTime? I tried installing also version QT7.7, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Here is the last crash report, but to me it seems like it's the same as before:
