DBMS_XMLSave.insertXML ORA-01024 error

DBMS_XMLSave.insertXML ORA-01024 error
The following error is being produced when trying to use DBMS_XMLSave.insertXML. The xml datagram was produced from the view using DBMS_XMLQuery.getXML. This works fine for non object nested views.
Does anyone know of a problem with this approach or syntax.
Thanks

It seems to be related to an insert/update for the same context
having different columns with "values" in it.
I have 3 rows. For the AMT column the first row has 151.56,
the second row has 100.00, the third row has .00
The third row fails with this error :
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error

If I change the third row to say 10.00, for example, it works
fine.
We had not been on xdk9 yet, I'm having them install xdk9 and
we'll see if the problem persists.

• Error while using dbms_xmlsave.UpdateXML and dbms_xmlsave.insertXML

The Record I am trying to insert/update has the following structure
<ROWSET>
<ROW>
<COL1>123</COL1>
</ROW>
</ROWSET>
Table structure is as below
COL1 INT [Primary constraint]
COL2 VARCHAR2(100) NOT NULL [but has default value of 'COL2_Default']
Now since the XML doesn't have the entry for COL2, I am explicitly setting the columns to be updated/inserted using dbms_xmlsave.setUpdateColumn.
I use the logic the following logic to insert/update the table
-- set the primary key column name. This forms the where clause for update statement
dbms_xmlsave.setkeycolumn(l_Context , 'COL1');
-- cXML have the XML structure mentioned above
l_rows := dbms_xmlsave.updateXML(l_Context, cXML);
IF l_rows <= 0 THEN -- which means no rows found for update
l_rows := dbms_xmlsave.insertXML(l_Context, cXML);
END IF;
Now when the excution of dbms_xmlsave.updateXML happens Java Runtime Error is thrown.
ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: 'java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 5' encountered during processing ROW element 0. All prior XML row changes were rolled back. in the XML document.

Please let me know if anyone has any idea on this error.

Found maybe an applicable reference...
On http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wasinfo/v4r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.support.was.doc/html/Java_2_Connectivity_(J2C)/1163246.html
it says:
* Application code is missing a setXXX method call somewhere.
* There might be a problem in the Oracle JDBC driver code.
If the latter is the problem than you should or try a different JDBC driver or (which is probably the best solution anyway) create an iTar with Oracle support via metalink.oracle.com
Other references can also be found on the internet when using google which could be applicable. Search on keywords: "Missing IN or OUT parameter at index"

• Loading data into XMLType column using dbms_xmlsave.insertxml get ORA-29532

The following simple test case succeeded in 9.2.0.1 but failed in 9.2.0.2.
CREATE OR REPLACE procedure InsertXML(xmlDoc IN VARCHAR2, tableName IN VARCHAR2) is
insCtx DBMS_XMLSave.ctxType;
rows number;
begin
insCtx := DBMS_XMLSave.newContext(tableName); -- get the context handle
rows := DBMS_XMLSave.insertXML(insCtx,xmlDoc); -- this inserts the document
dbms_output.put_line(to_char(rows) || ' rows inserted');
DBMS_XMLSave.closeContext(insCtx); -- this closes the handle
end;
CREATE TABLE XMLtable
(column1 xmltype)
exec insertxml('<?xml version = "1.0"?><ROWSET><ROW><COLUMN1><TEST>HELLO</TEST></COLUMN1></ROW></ROWSET>', 'XMLTABLE');

Hi,
For your XML file I think you just need to enclose XML elemnts in ROWSET AND ROW TAGS - so xml should look like :
<ROWSET>
<ROW>
<DEPT>
</DEPT>
and just pass it as CLOB to dbms_xmlsave.insertXML proc.
I hope it should work.
I am also trying to insert XML file but with a bit complex structure having multiple nested elements.
I am not sure how to transform the external XML file to wrap it in ROWSET/ROW using XSLT. It's mandatory to use ROWSET/ROW tags to be able to insert in oracle tables. I am facing this problem right now. I am using object views to accomplish the purpose but still needs to figure out the way to apply stylesheet to incoming XML file.
If you come to know of any way, pls do let me know also.
Thanks

• Default insertion for missing elements using DBMS_XMLSave.insertXML

Hi,
I am trying to insert default values for some columns, without having those column names as elements in the xml document. Is it possible to do so?? This is the code I am using for now, but it inserts null values for missing elements in the xml document.
insCtx := DBMS_XMLSave.newContext ('TABLENAME'); -- get the context
rows := DBMS_XMLSave.insertXML (insCtx, p_xmlDoc); -- insert the doc
DBMS_XMLSave.closeContext (insCtx); -- close the handle

Only thing I noticed with dbms_xmlstore.insertXML, was when my xml document had "<?xml version = "1.0" ?>" at the start, it gave an error "LPX-00209: PI names starting with XML are reserved"That's probably due to the XML document not starting exactly with "<", like this :

With the dbms_xmlsave.inserXML, [...] it wont insert the default column values.Now that's strange...
I understand there could be differences in the parsing implementation, but in the end both processes must issue an INSERT into the target table using plain SQL, so I really wonder why default values are not applied.
I'll try to reproduce when I have access to a Java-enabled db.

Secondly, was this database migrated from earlier version? I remember having seen this problem on 9i (it was 9.2.0.1 or 9.2.0.2; I can't recall exactly).

• Ora-01008 error with bind variable

Hi,
We have a test program which have one bind variable on a column which is varchar2(20), in the test program we've passed a 20 character string to the variable. The program returns error in one of the databases but all others are successful. We've checked the column is same in all of them.
Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01008: not all variables bound
Could you please advise how to troubleshoot this issue?
Regards

We aren't going to be able to help you if you won't post the database code that is giving the error.
And now we need the Java code that is constructing the query that you are using.
Your error is saying there is a second variable that you are not providing a value for.
And you said
>
We have a test program which have one bind variable on a column which is varchar2(20), in the test program we've passed a 20 character string to the variable.
>
But you are using a string that is 23 characters long

What is the type declaration of num_tab and how is record_num defined?
ORA-24381: error(s) in array DML
Cause: One or more rows failed in the DML.indicates that you fail on the insert itself. Are the table definitions the same? Same primary/unique keys?

• PL/SQL: ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object.

Hi All,
I'm getting the following error message while executing a PL/SQL Block.
PL/SQL: ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object UPLDUSER.filestatushistory@FTS
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error
ORA-02063: preceding line from FTSStatement
declare
v_coun number;
begin
select count(*) into v_coun
from updluser.filestatushistory@fts;
end;Back ground of the situation as follows,
My DataBase version 10.2.0.3 DB Name :DB1
Table Owner : UPLDUSER
Table Name : FILESTATUSHISTORY
I have a report user on the same database and I have grant all on the above table to report user
Report User : RPT_FTS
SQL> GRANT ALL ON FILESTATUSHISTORY_V TO RPT_FTS;Now Please find the below database details where I'm getting subjected error.
Database version : 9.2.0.8
DB Name : DB2
User Name : RPT_REPORTS
I Have create a dblink from RPT_REPORTS to RPT_FTS on DB1 and the dblink works fine. But getting the above error while running it.
but When I do the same other 10.2.0.3 db , the above PL/SQL block works fine without any problem.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Now the strange about this is that I have Created a new table on DB1 db like below;
SQL> CREATE TABLE UPLDUSER.ABC AS SELECT * FROM FILESTATUSHISTORY;and retry my code on DB2 (9.2.0.8) after changing the table to ABC and it worked. Now I don't know whats wrong with a original table(FILESTATUSHISTORY).
To over come the problem and a work-a-round method I create a view on the DB1 (RPT_FTS) like the below
SQL> CREATE VIEW FILESTATUSHISTORY AS SELECT * FROM UPLDUSER.FILESTATUSHISTORY;and was able to run the PL/SQL block Remotely.
Just wants To know what whould have been the cause for this .
Cheers

Hi Kanchana,
Perhaps following link of google search has answer to your query
ORA-04052. The search result contains some useful articles whose URLs I shan't post in the forums.
HTH!

Hi,
Please check the timezone set in your server where Weblogic is installed. Also ensure the timezone on which your weblogic is running, the same is present in in database by querying V$TIMEZONE_NAMES table. If it is not present then please change the timezone of the server. then try to execute the steps what you are doing, it will not throw any error.
if this helps please mark.
Thanks,

• ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1 (Call to a Oracle View)

I have created a view that refers to a package function within the sql select.
Like
E.x
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW VW_TAX
as select
test_pkg.fn_get_gl_value(acct_id) desired_col1,
test_pkg.fn_get_gl_desc_value(acct_id) desired_col2
From tables a, b
a.col= b.col
The sample function( fn_get_gl_value) is embedded into a package (test_pkg).
Function fn_get_gl_value:
It earlier referred to table A1, B1, C1 and this query took really long, Therefore I used object type tables and stored the values required once within the package when it is invoked. Later I used the Tables A1, B1 and C1(table Cast from the type Table Loaded in Package Memory)
The query was fast and fine, but now when I try to re-use the view
select * from VW_TAX
where acct_id = '02846'
It fails with this message

Seems like your OPEN_CURSORS init.ora parameter is set too low.
See Metalink Note:1012266.6 for details.
ORA-01000: "maximum open cursors exceeded"
Cause: A host language program attempted to open too many cursors.
The initialization parameter OPEN_CURSORS determines the
maximum number of cursors per user.
Action: Modify the program to use fewer cursors. If this error occurs
often, shut down Oracle, increase the value of OPEN_CURSORS,
and then restart Oracle.
