Dbsnmp high utilization

Hi,
situation :
Suse Linux Enterprise server 9 sp2 (64bit)
Oracle 9.2.0.4 64bit
I have an oracle database & listener running.
When I start the intelligent agent as user oracle by using 'agentctl start', then the proces dbsnmp is taking 99%.
Also the logfile is increasing till the root file system is full.
Messages like below are in it; I do not know what this is:
The ipaddress is of the host itself.
[smux_accept] accepted fd 12 from 10.10.0.7:48411
This is not normal. On other systems like Solaris it is not causing any processor utilization.
The snmp daemon alone does not cause data growth.
What can be done about this?
Is it a known bug?

Hi,
is native SNMP running on your box? That's only a guess, not sure if it is really related to your problem, but exactly the same symptoms can be seen on AIX due to a bad interference between SNMP and DBSNMP.

  • WLC 7.0.98.0 CPU high utilization

I could not find anything wrong with the show tech on WLC. Client complaints CPU high utilization. Please help!

    Hi Andrew,
There are a couple of interesting things in the debug output you included, firstly there are some unsupported rates by the clients, in other words do you have some 802.11b clients trying to connect? Because I think you may have unsupported the 'b' rates on the controller. So either - ensure you have no 'b' clients or start supporting 'b' rates again (1, 2, 5.5, 11)
Secondly there some rogue AP containment going on, this can cause either your AP to have a high CPU, f there are multiple rogue APs being contained, or it may be that your own clients are being de-authenticated by another wireless network in the area - in other words, your network is under attack.

  • Effects of High Utilization

I had a lot of bills this tax month and I am going to carry a balance for the first time ever.  It's on a 0% APR card which is the only reason I'm carring a balance.  Keeping the cash I could pay it off in a 3.25% APY account. My utilization was always 4-8% each month.  For this month my statements cut and I had 35% utilization.  The following happened to my scores FICO TU reported by Barclay 696 dropped to a 674FAKO TU by Credit Karma 684 droped to a 635 I'm going to pay all my cards off at the end of this billing cycle except for my 0 APR card.  I will pay that off the following month.  I'll repost my scores as they change.

    degs138 wrote:
So here is where I am at.  I was at 35% utilization in May with one card at 85% utilization.  My score dropped to 651 at the worst.  FICO score reported by Barclays.  I paid off my cards in June so I was reporting a 16% utilization.  My score went up to 699.  Next month I will end up paying off my balances and get my utilization down to under 10%.  hoping to be back in the 700s.  I'll update the thread when I get my next score update. I couldn't believe I went form 709 to 651 with high utilization on one card.  That is a drop of 58 points for using close to the limit on one card.I see that you have two Cap 1 cards. Take a look at their balance transfer offers. I also have a Venture and QS. Each one provides me with no fee balance transfers. Depending on when your statements close, it might be beneficial for you to transfer the balance onto one of them if there is no fee. That could movet the balance early and increase your scores when the other card reports zero. Then pay the Cap 1 down before it reports the higher balance. I have my statement closing dates spread out. This has helped me when I wanted to float something for a month. Didn't have to pay intrerest or see a score decrease.

  • My Profile - Fico 8 - High Utilization

I have decided to post my profile and will update as changes are made. I have what I would call a very stable profile.  My oldest card, depending on which bureau, ranges from 28.8 to 35.2 years.  My average age ranges from 15.8 to 17.9 years.  My two newest cards just turned 8 years on July 1st.  The only inquiry I have will be 2 years old on July 26th for a phone service. On 2/25/15, I started to be more aware of account balances and did not let a single one increase since then.  In the past, I have had balances go up or down but never increased my total utilization.    I have one $30 paid medical collection from Oct 2012 and one 30 day late payment  which will be 5 yrs on Aug 1st.  EX and EQ have both of these shown and TU has neither.  My accounts are as follows: 2/25/15                       6/9 cards w/balances             44% utilizationBoA                              95% utilChase Freedom        62%Chase Slate               37%USAA                          93%Universal                    24%Kohls                           $50.00 Scores:  EQ 724       TU 734        EX  728  2/26/15Paid USAA down to 93%  Scores:  EQ  731       TU  734      EX   731   From 2/26/15 to 5/26/15 there were no score changes.  During that time I paid the $50 balance on Kohls so had 5/9 cards reporting and brought USAA down to 89%. The Chase Freedom also went below 60%  5/26/15                   5/9 cards reporting                  41% utilizationBrought BoA down to 89% utilization. Scores:    EQ  735    TU  744       EX 734 Sometime between 5/26/15 and 6/14/15, my EX went up to 738 with no alert triggered. From 6/23/15 to 6/26/15, my EX score went up and down each down from 738 to 742 then back down and back up.  It finally settled at 742 on 6/28. I pulled the 3B on CCT on 7/3/15 and scores were as follows: Scores:    EQ  735    TU 744     EX 745 My EX increased 3 points on 7/1/15 which is when my average age went to 18 yrs. EX increased 1 point on 7/12/15 which is when my two newest cards turned 8 yrs. Current Scores:  EQ 735   TU 744   EX  746 Of interest is the fact that EX is 2 points higher than TU and TU doesn't have the late payment or collection.  To me, this shows that the high utilization is a bigger factor than the late payment and collection. I have paid USAA down to 78% and will be running a 3B on CCT as soon as it reports, which should be in the next few days. I have also paid BoA down to 79% and will run a 3B when that reports, which should be around the 26th. I also have a heloc at 32% and a mortage at 78%.  No installment loans. I will have to check my total and individual utilization to see where it's at on all of the cards. Hope this all makes sense.  Will update as changes occur.  I am not looking for any advice as I have a solid plan on paying off my cards and many of these are at  0%or low rates.  Only one is a higher rate and I will get back to paying that at an accelerated rate now that the two high utilization cards are below 80%.

Your AAoA is impressive. You may want to pay off low balance cards to get the # of cards reporting a blance down to three from five. The % of cards reporting can be a significant factor on scoring.  The primary factor keeping your score down appears to be aggregate utilization percentage.  A couple thresholds I have wondered about are 35% and 20%. You are approaching the 35% mark. Utilization on individual cards - at least up to 80% - has not been shown to impact Fico 8 score. It would be interesting to try and isolate impact on score associated with each of the following if your pay down schedule allows:1) Any step change in score as aggregate utilization drops2) Any step change in score associated with reducing % or # of cards reporting a balance

Vijay - if the Z reports are being run in the background, reduce the number of background processes. This will force them to queue up and reduce resource usage.

)You can investigate what Oracle is using the CPU for with Database Control using the performance tab and the top sessions link. A CPU that gets to 65-70 degrees suggests that you have a cooling problem in the machine.

  • ADF Apps, CPU high utilization on OAS, how to find the cause of problem ?

    Hi all,
We are running ADFBC application on OAS 10.1.3.3 on RH Linux ES 4. The database is Oracle 10g on RH Linux also.
Memory is 16 GB. 1 JVM.
Most of time I see (with linux "top" command) that CPU utilization on OAS is 99.9 %
And at the peak load (150 -200 users) user gets very slow that we have to restart the OC4J to the it normal again.
here is the setting in opmn.xml :
    <data id="java-bin" value="/opt/oracle/OraHome_oc4j/jdk64/jdk1.5.0_17/bin/java"/>
    <data id="java-options" value="-server -XX:CompileCommand=exclude,oracle/sql/NUMBER,toBytes
    -ms3072M -mx3072M -XX:+AggressiveHeap -XX:MaxPermSize=1024M -XX:AppendRatio=3 -Djava.security.policy=$ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/ittas/config/java2.policy
    -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dhttp.webdir.enable=false"/>
Heap Usage on EM, is between 2250 MB - 2850 MB.
How do I know what is the cause of that problem ? How can AD4J help to find the source of the problem ?
    Thank you very much,
    xtanto

    xtanto,
    Hi again...
Just a quick thought (I know it doesn't answer your question directly, but...) have you tried multiple JVM's? It's really quite easy to set up in OAS, and may possibly help you out. How many CPU's on the box?
We have an app (it gets such high concurrent usage during one period of the year), and we're running it on 3 JVM's on a single Linux box with either 2 or 4 (cannot recall) CPU's

  • Voice Wireless Deployment help - High Utilization w/ no users

“We” have a highly dense AP deployment going on right now in our new HQ building to support wireless voice services.
Unfortunately, the AP's were hung only about 35 ft. from each other. There are about 20 AP's per floor in a three floor building. All three floors have one side without a wall. What I am seeing is that all of the AP's power down to level 8 (the lowest), and each of the AP's has around 30 Rx neighbors. If I leave all of the AP's turned on, the utilization per AP is above about 60% - and up to 100% without any clients associated to it. On the middle floor, I've tried turning off every other AP to see what effect that would have, and noticed the utilization dropped significantly (each AP below 50% utilized), but the power levels never increased on the AP's (I'm assuming because of the gazillion neighbors they see). So, I tried to manually increase the power on every other AP to power level 6. Now, of course, the utilization is really high again.
Is this typical for a voice deployment?
Should the AP's be more like 50-60 feet apart?
    Any suggestions? (don't put AP's on the 2nd floor - just 1st and 3rd)?
    Please see the attachment.
    Thanks!!

    Greetings-
First, let me say I read all of your stuff and realize that you are way more evolved than me based on your posts. I have some of your answers on file for "future reference" along with a few other folks.
Anyway - Airmagnet as a survey tool (laptop)is still kind of buggy. If I want to lock a data rate and use this as a baseline to measure with, I need it to stay there. Cognio is a wonderful utensil and the rest of Airmagnet is good for other stuff (sniffer traces, utilization, etc.)
Airmagnet surveyor...where do I start? It makes pretty pictures for customers and then when it doesn't work properly, contractors have something to point to that shows coverage.
Ekahau- if you took a survey and then went back and modified your results based on actual signal etc...you would have a very good mathematical representation of your environment. Spectralink does that. I don't like the 'survey one cell' people and then clone the green spot all over the map.
The free Cisco tool tells me the name and mac of the AP I'm associated to, when I trouble shoot. Perfect for trouble shooting. That and a ping test will perform a survey that will stand on its own once installed. Unless, I can actually have the device (phone, vocera toy)I'll use that and measure every cell back and forth and make adjustments as I go. It takes a while, but I have never had to give a paycheck back because the finished product did not perform as advertised.
As far as RRM -geeebus- even if the 'throwing the client off the network feature' were modified (ha)then you still have the '80% overlap in order to throttle down to less than 20dBm' issue. Can you think of a situation where you took one AP and placed three or four more (depending on the date of the documentation you read)at the edge of a -65dBm cell? If I have to do this to allow auto RF power 'figure outer' to work, then I don't really need RRM do I? Pico cells are further away than that.
Our facility is moving away from Cisco and we have been incorporating Meru as we go along.
It's kind of like wireless for dummies, but you can not argue with results. It's very difficult to screw up - but on the flip side - none of your troubleshooting tools work. Fortunately, I haven't needed them.
You didn't used to work for HCA in NOLA did you? Take care-

  • Cmoninit high utilization issue

    Guys,
I am experiencing an issue on the CUCM 5.1.3. Cmoninit is reaching 90% of utilization alone.
We tried to kill the process and reload the box, but, in few minutes the cmoninit processes get on the top again.
Do you know how to solve this issue?
    Luiz Bianchini

    Hey Luiz,
This is Sriram - we talked on the phone today to resolve this issue.
Just to close this thread out, we found that this is a known defect :
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCsv47100
the root cause is that CAR Scheduler goes into a loop trying to create a fragment with servers running the DST in South American time zone
Snippet of CAR Scheduler loop :
    2010-10-20 16:18:55,527 DEBUG [DailyCdrLoad] services.FragmentManager - createTblPartition(): -->

These constant fragment creation attempts on the database results in the database service (cmoninit) spike.
Stopping CAR Scheduler network service on the Pub will reduce the CPU spike.
upgrading to  an  5.1.3 ES  will fix the issue.

  • CPU high utilization on OAS Server, how to find the cause of problem ?

    Hi all,
We are running ADFBC application on OAS 10.1.3.3 on RH Linux ES 4. The database is Oracle 10g on RH Linux also.
here is the setting in opmn.xml :
    <data id="java-bin" value="/opt/oracle/OraHome_oc4j/jdk64/jdk1.5.0_17/bin/java"/>
    <data id="java-options" value="-server -XX:CompileCommand=exclude,oracle/sql/NUMBER,toBytes
    -ms3072M -mx3072M -XX:+AggressiveHeap -XX:MaxPermSize=1024M -XX:AppendRatio=3 -Djava.security.policy=$ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/ittas/config/java2.policy
    -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dhttp.webdir.enable=false"/>
Most of time I see (with linux "top" command) that CPU utilizationis 99.9 %
And sometimes at that time user gets very slow that we have to restart the OC4J to the it normal again.
How do I know what is the cause of that problem ?
    Thank you very much,
    xtanto

    Maybe this could help.
    Regars
    From note 467624.1
    Applies to:
    Oracle Containers for J2EE - Version: 10.1.2.0.0 to 11.0.0.0
    Linux x86
    Purpose
To find out the java thread that is taking high CPU usage in OC4J
This article is specific to Linux due to its threading model and makes specific use of parameters for the ps command that only exist in Linux but not in other operating systems. The general idea from this note might, however, be used on other platforms also, but then requires deeper knowledge of that operating system.
    Scope and Application
If you are using the JDK 1.4 then you need to set the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL value to 2.4.1 to get the unique nid value.
In JDK 1.5 setting the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL to 2.4.1 is not required.
Add this variable to ORACLE_HOME\opmn\conf\opmn.xml file as follows:
    <ias-instance id="j2ee3.host.domain">
    <environment>
    <variable id="TMP" value="/tmp"/>
    <variable id="LD_ASSUME_KERNEL" value="2.4.1"/>
    </environment>
Find Out The Thread That Is Taking High CPU Usage In OC4J
Step 1: Find out the Process ID of the OC4J container
You can find out the pid from the output of the following command:
    ORACLE_HOME\opmn\bin> opmnctl status
    For example
    O_H\opmn\bin> opmnctl status
    Processes in Instance: j2ee3.host.domain
    ------------------------------------------------+---------
    ias-component | process-type | pid | status
    ------------------------------------------------+---------
    DSA | DSA | N/A | Down
    LogLoader | logloaderd | N/A | Down
    dcm-daemon | dcm-daemon | N/A | Down
    OC4J | home | 28370 | Alive
    WebCache | WebCache | 28380 | Alive
    WebCache | WebCacheAdmin | 28371 | Alive
    HTTP_Server | HTTP_Server | 28373 | Alive
In this note, we will try to trace the java thread that is using high CPU in OC4J 'home'. The pid of 'home' container is 28370 according to the example.
Step 2: Find the actual process ID
Use the following command to find out the actual process ID:
    ps -ef | grep 28370
    rac 28370 28354 0 11:23 ? 00:00:01 /home/rac/j2ee2/jdk/bin/java
    rac 28377 28370 0 11:23 ? 00:00:00 /home/rac/j2ee2/jdk/bin/java
In this case the actual java process is 28377.
Step 3: Find out the thread which takes lot of CPU time
    Run the command
    watch "ps -eLo pid,ppid,tid,pcpu,comm | grep 28377"
The thread ID of the thread that consumes high CPU time will be shown in the first column of the output
Step 4: Take thread dump to trace the java thread with the thread ID.
Take the thread dump using the following command:
    kill -3 28370 (process-id-from-opmn-status-output)
The thread dump will be written to the log file at ORACLE_HOME\opmn\logs\OC4J~<OC4J_Container_Name>~default_island~1.
Step 5: Trace the java thread.
Convert the Thread ID you got from the command,
    ps -eLo pid,ppid,tid,pcpu,comm | grep 28377
to hexadecimal and then search for this value in the thread dump.
For example, if you get the thread id '5828' in the first column of this command, convert '5828' to hexadecimal:
5828 (dec) corresponds to 0x16c4 (hex)
Now search for nid=0x16c4 in the thread dump, and you may find something like:
    "RMIServer [0.0.0.0:12401] count:1" prio=1 tid=0xa7c1ee80 nid=0x16c4 runnable [a777e000..a777e22c]

  • Tomcat running high utilization on OES11 SP2

I have Groupwise 2014 with webaccess and calendar publishing host installed on the same OES 11 SP2 in virtual environment. Tomcat is slowly eating up available CPUs until the system becomes unstable. Rcnovell-tomcat6 restart will temporarily clear the problem. The problem is described in TID 7010072 however, the document specifically says that the fix is not for OES11. Does anyone know how to address this on OES11?

Firstly I'm not aware of an equivalent TID specific to OES11 so I'll ask
    my Novell contacts.
OES11 uses novell-tomcat6 rather than tomcat6 as used with SLES11 with
    configuration file at /etc/opt/novell/tomcat6/conf/novell-tomcat6.conf
so in the meantime perhaps make the same change as noted in TID 7010072
for SLES11 to the OES11 file.
Note there is more than one line (re)defining CATALINA_OPTS so I'd be
tempted to add the following line below the last CATALINA_OPTS line:
    CATALINA_OPTS="$CATALINA_OPTS -Xthr:minimizeUserCPU -Xms800m -Xmx900m"
Restart the OES11 tomcat process via "rcnovell-tomcat6 restart".
    HTH.

We are experiencing the same issue on our OES GroupWise 2014 server. Restarting novell-tomcat6 fixes temporarily, but always returns. Anyone find anything further with this? Just downloaded (1/12/15) and installed latest available hotpatches for GW2014 and SLES/OES, but did not resolve issue.

  • Class-map || High Router utilization

    Hi Team ,
    Good day!!!
I have one very basic question regarding the class- map.
We have implemented QOS by defining some set of classes with the percentage of bandwidth in each class.
now a days i could see lot of routers in the organization i work for having issues with the high utilization .
we heard that the ISP has changed their configuration of QOS.
is it like both the customer and ISP should have the same  kind of configuration to have my router work properly ?
if one class is being highly utilized, will it affect the entire router performance ?
    Thanks
    Praveen

    Hi parveen,
It's a common problem after implementing QOS, plz share the details of hardware and software.as well as  At the beginning you can start your troubleshoot with these documents:

  • High Java Utilization

Has anyone else noticed any issues with Java utilization on ZfS
    servers?
Ever since we applied the Java update for the DST change, we've
noticed that all our servers, at various times, can seem to have high
utilization in the zenloader, or zws packages.
We used to think it was a ZfS issue, as that's where we saw it, but
we're also seeing it in our APC software occasionally too, so I am
beginning to think it's a more general Java issue.
Has anyone else seen this? Is there a solution? A more appropriate
    group to post in?
    Graham

    Hi Graham,
I didn't get an answer (so no one had an idea?...) about memory
    problems.
Do you have utilization problems only? My zenloaders seems to eat
memory (one went up to max space before quitting work...), nearly all
servers went stuck sometimes, could stop the process via NRM. I'm still
waiting if it occurs again..maybe some bad schedule (timing issues)
causes it (rebuild interval too short).
Another issue about utilization and memory I have seen here happend
with a single server during inventory.

  • LR 1.1 High (~60%) CPU utilization when LR is idle

When I startup LR without doing anything, in the LIBRARY module LR idles at just under 60% CPU utilization (dual processors, 4GB mem) and has been for the last 20 minutes. The LR catalog and preview files have all been defragmented. The LR catalog has been optimized. This situation seems to happen about 3/4ths the time that I run LR. It does not prevent other LR activities.
    A) Is there anyway to discover what LR is doing?
    B) Any ideas on how to fix?

I haven't done an import, nor asked it to build previews, and there is nothing showing in the upper left where it shows long running tasks. I haven't done an import in a while. It could be building XMP files, if those weren't built at conversion time. I asked this time around to have XMP files built. I am hoping that XMP files might make it easier to work with DxO.
After about 20 minutes it stops the high utilization.
Just strange behavior, not a problem in itself, but maybe related to some problem.
    Thanks,

  • Seeing ASA 5540 with High CPU Utilization

I have a remote site customer with a Cisco ASA 5540 running SSLVPN (Anyconnect)(8.03). It currently only serves about 450 SSLVPN clients. Since last friday, they've seen the CPU utilization go up to high 90% while only serving 400+ remote users. Please help us troubleshoot the root cause of the CPU high utilization on Cisco ASA 5540.
