DBUA Failed at "Configuring Database with Enterprise Manager"
Hi All,
We upgraded our production database and we have configured OEM in that, while upgrading from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.5, it failed at the stage "Configuring Database with Enterprise Manager". Could anyone suggest how to upgrad OEM to 10.2.0.5.
I don't think you will find logging regarding failed jobs on the system. But you can create a "view only" user, see MOS: How To Create Administrator Accounts (Super Admin, Admin, View Only, etc) In Grid Control [ID 377310.1]

Someone please help a complete beginner with Enterprise Manager!

Someone please help a complete beginner with Enterprise Manager!
Please be gentle with me, I'm absolutely new to all this. We don't have a proper DBA and I've been tasked with the role. There is no-one else in the company with oracle experience and we don't have any support. Until now I've just used enterprise manager to manage the database, but now I have a problem..
We are using Windows Server 2003 and Oracle 10g. I (stupidly) installed some network monitoring software on our server (PRTG network monitor). I almost immediately uninstalled it and all components/registry settings, but it seems to have thrown something out regards the OEM web interface.
We used to access the OEM GUI through http://<hostname>:5500/em, but after installing/uninstalling the network monitor software the OEM webpage would only stay up for a few minutes, before saying 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage'. Restarting the DBconsole in services fixed the problem, but again, only for a few minutes.
Spent all day yesterday looking at logfiles (they didn't make much sense to me), but seemed to be saying access was denied to the server ('actively denied it'). Lots of googling led me to believe I needed to reconfigure OEM by dropping and recreating it using:
emctl stop dbconsole
emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
emca -repos recreate
during this process I was asked for various passwords and a port number? I didn't even know what to use as the port number but guessed it was 5500 ?!? (probably wrong). As it didn't work I used the default port number that I found somewhere on the web.
However now I am even deeper in the **** as this didn't work either, (some error about listnener?) and I have now lost the DBConsole in windows services. Obviously the OEM web console doesn't work at all now
I would be eternally grateful for some patient, beginners help here..I can post whatever log files are necessary - I just need to know what I'm supposed to be doing and where to start..
We used to log on to the OEM as 'SYSTEM', but nowhere in the process does it seem to ask me for the password for that (its asked me for SYS and SYSMAN)
It could be that I'm going about this completely wrong, but with only a days experience in all this its pretty hard to know what I'm doing really!
As you can tell I'm in way over my head..I just need OEM web interface to work!
Thanks in advanceok, thanks to helpful comments from other people in my initial thread (posted in general database forum), after rebuilding the console/repository I now have EM up and running. But there are more problems..
Firstly I have an error at the very top of the screen:
java.lang.Exception: Number of responses does not match queries
Also, the 'Host CPU' and 'Active Sessions' are blank and say 'No Data Is Currently Available' beneath them
my emagent.trc file contains this error, repeating with different thread IDs every 30 seconds...
(error = 10061)

Windows Azure Pack setup - 500 Internal Server Error - failed to configure databases and services
Hi,
I am trying to setup the Windows Azure pack to use the site to configure the Service bus 1.1 installation. When I try to configure the Windows Azure Pack I get the following error:
Admin Authentication Site
500 Internal Server Error - Failed to configure databases and services: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
I'm not sure where the logs are to see what is causing this error. I have tried running as admin, running as a different user with no luck.
thanks,
Georgi

Bi publisher cannot be integrated with EM 12c is its running on a different host
Below are the scenarios
For Standalone OMS setup
BI Publisher can only be installed only on the 12c OMS host in case of standalone OMS setup
For multi oms setup
BI Publisher can only be installed only on the Primary OMS in a Multi-OMS setup.

Configuring Backups in Enterprise Manager 10.2.0.2.0
Hello,
I am trying to configure backups in Enterprise Manager. Whenever I try to provide the host credentials, I receive the following:
"Connection to host as user Administrator failed: ERROR: Wrong
password for user"
This machine is a primary domain controller, and therfore has no local accounts. All accounts are through the domain via Active Directory. I came across a plug-in for Enterprise Manager for AD, but it is only for Windows Server 2003. Since I cannot authenticate locally for host credentials, how would I work around this in order to setup a backup schedule? Thanks.
Neal A. Ferguson
[email protected]Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, this did not seem to resolve the issue, as I still received the error message when attempting to provide the Administrator's credentials. I also added the domain admin to the Log on locally option, but this did nothing as well. Is there something else that I need to put in to the fields when attempting to set up a backup job?

How to connect 10g database through Enterprise manager???
Hi All,
I want to connect the database through Enterprise manager.
My database is on 10g. Version is 10.1
Please tell me the procedure to connect the database through E.M.
Thanks and Regards,
Prathamesh. Are you thinking of the Enterprise Manager supplied with Oracle9i? If yes - it doesn't work quite that way ... and the 9i java OEM is not compatible.
Use the enterprise manager supplied with the 10g database, called the dbconsole (look for a service or start it using 'emctl start dbconsole') and access it using http://{localhost}:5500/em
If that doesn't satisfy you, load the updated version of the OEM 9i java standalone from the 10g client disk. -
Import database using enterprise manager
Hello,
I am trying to import a database using enterprise manager. I've finished the installation of 10g and i need to import a database that is in a different server.
The Oracle Enterprise Manager window, has a tab 'maintenance' that allows me to import from another database.
The problem is that at some point the wizard ask's me for the user credentials (user and password), and i don't no who is the user, is it refering to the others server's credentials or is it referring to the database credentials?
Can You help me, please?
Is there some tutorial for this?
Thank you,
Sara.I don't know of a tutorial, sorry. This forum is about Globalization Support (e.g. national language support features) so it is really the wrong place for EM Grid/Database Control questions. I suggest your try here instead:

BI Publisher 11.1.1.5 is installed in Host A and Enterprise Manager 12.1.0.1 is installed in Host B.
All the samples and steps given in the oracle doc explains how to integrate them if they are in the same host.
./configureBIP
But how to integrate them if they are on different hosts?Hi Anandh,

Installation problem with Enterprise Manager Console
When i am installing 10G database installation was failed at configuring DBConsole. later from OUI(Oracle Universal Installer) i uninstalled Enterprise Manager Console. my Question was how to reinstall the Enterprise Manager Console alone?
When i am trying to install from OUI. it is not allowing me to install Enterprise Mager Alone (stating Database is mandatory) .

Out from the log you posted I can see it is a windows platform. One common issue with windows and EM is the lack of a fixed IP Address. If this is the case configure a loopback adapter.
In the mean time, you don't need to have checked the configure EM DB Control from install time, you can skip this configuration and perform it later, so at least you have a working database just to start.

Multiple RAC databases in Enterprise Manager
Hey, I installed 3 databases on a 2-node rac.
srvctl show database -d <dbname>
shows all 3 database are up and running. Everything is working fine.
Just the Enterprise Manager is working on the first database (port 1158)
For all other databases (port 5500 and 5501) the EM comes up with: Cluster status not available
Is there anything I need to do, so that I can see all 3 database within the EM ?
I know, Grid Control is the tool to choose, but anyway, I should see the status of the cluster for all 3 databases, correct ?
ChrisI configured my 3 databases.
db1 and db2 have as remote_listener parameter the scan listener:1521 configured
db3 has another value for the remote_listener, because I need this remote listener, so that my db3 is registering on my connection manager servers
In this scenario db1 and db2 are working with the EM - db3 is not - but db3 is registering its services on my connection managers
When changing the remote_listener entry for db3 the Enterprise Manager is running here as well - but no more registering of services at cman servers :-(
So thats the questions:
How to register all databases with the listener, so that EM is running for all databases, and also how to configure db3 so that its registers its services at cman servers ???
Thx for your help in advance
Chris
Thats my listener configuration in the Grid Home
LISTENER=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=LISTENER)))) # line added by Agent
LISTENER_SCAN1=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=LISTENER_SCAN1)))) # line added by Agent
ENABLE_GLOBAL_DYNAMIC_ENDPOINT_LISTENER_SCAN1=ON # line added by Agent
ENABLE_GLOBAL_DYNAMIC_ENDPOINT_LISTENER=ON # line added by Agent
the part for the scan listener (which is configured in the database as the remote_listener parameter) looks like:
remote_listener=listener_cluster:1521
listener-cluster=
(address_list=
(address=(protocol=tcp)(host=dbsrv01)(port=1521))
(address=(protocol=tcp)(host=dbsrv02)(port=1521))
#Remote Listener fuer Connection Manager
cman_listener =
(address_list=
(address=(protocol=tcp)(host=cmansrv01)(port=1610))
(address=(protocol=tcp)(host=cmansrv02)(port=1610))

How to create a new database using Enterprise manager?
hi all,
thank you for all your support. i want to create a new database . I tried following these steps
i am using Oracle 9i and windows XP
1, opened the enterprise manager by clicking from programs
2,selected launch standalone Application
3, from the tree i expanded the network node and expanded the databases node ,now i can see the globaldatabase i created during installation . i can login that database using systems and manager (username & password )
4, clicked the new database icon from the window , a small window with node named database appeared
5 , I tried to expand that by clicking on the database node ,but it pops up a new window showing no active session selected
I would be grateful if anyone can suggest a solution for this
thanks & regardsHi,
How can i access DBCA
start ---> run ---> DBCA <<hit enter>>
or
start ---> program ---> oracle home ---> configuration tools ---> database configuration assistant.Regards
Mohammed Taj

Issue with Enterprise Manager 11g
When I start the db console I am given the message
Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance, The state of the components are listed below.
All components are listed with green arrows indicating they are up
After reading a few posts here I have attempted to use EMCA to drop and re create the repository and settings
I have run the command 'emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop' to try and do this but it just hangs
Looking in the logs I can see the follow (only the last few lines added to keep it short)

Configuration Problem Oracle Enterprise Manager 9i
Hello Friends,
I have installed oracle 9i on windows 2000 server, But when I run oracle enterprise manager it asks me the userid and password.
Anyone could tell me what is the userid and password i should provide, and any other necessary configuration to work with OEM 9i
Your response would be great help for me.
Thanks,
Faisal. If you want to get connection in stand-alone mode you can use the user system and its password. If you do not know the password of the user system you can do this in the Oracle Server.
SET ORACLE_SID=<database_sid>
sqlplus /nolog
conn / as sysdba
alter user system identified by <new_password>;
exit
through that way you will be change the password to the user system and you will be able to get connection from OEM. There are other details to get connection from OEM . Test it so and if you have troubles to do it you will be able to reply.

Oracle Database 11gR1 Enterprise Manager Console Cannot Display in Browser
Folks,
Hello. I am running Oracle Database 11gR1 with Operaing System Oracle Linux 5. I have some issues regarding EM connects with the Database Server as below:
First, the default listener is LISTENER with standard port number 1521 and protocol TCP/IP.
Its corresponding service naming S1 is with port 1521 and protocol TCP/IP and hostname localhost.localdomain.
I run this listener in the following way:
Step 1: [user@localhost bin]./lsnrctl start LISTENER (This command runs sucessfully.)
Step 2: [user@localhost bin] ./sqlplus SYS/SYS as sysdba (This command starts sqlplus sucessfully.)
Step 3: [user@localhost sqldeveloper] ./sqldeveloper.sh (This command invokes SQL Developer sucessfully.)
But when start Enterprise Manager Console, it cannot connect with the Database. I do it in this way:
[user@localhost bin] ./emctl start dbconsole
The above command's output is:
https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em/console/aboutApplication
Starting Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control ... ...
When open the link https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em/console/aboutApplication in browser, this message comes up:
The connection to localhost.localdomain: 1158 cannot be established.
Thus, I add Port Number 1158 into both LISTENER and Service Naming S1. I run ./emctl start dbconsole again and get this message:
The connection to localhost.localdomain:1158 was interrupted while the page was loading.
In order to solve the above issue, I create another listener LISTENER2 and another Service Naming S2 with Port Number 1158 and protocol TCP/IP because
in my point of view, each listener only can have one Port Number(1521 or 1158) and its corresponding Service Naming (S1 or S2) need to have the same Port Number and Protocol (TCP/IP).
But when I run [user@localhost bin]./lsnrctl start LISTENER2, this message comes up: the listener supports no service.
From the message, it seems that LISTENER2 cannot work with its corresponding Service Naming S2 with Port 1158.
EM with Port 1158 cannot display in Browser.
My questions are :
First, Is there any relationship needed to be established between listener(LISTENER2) and Service Naming(S2) in order to display EM in Browser ?
Second, how do folks display EM in browser ?
Thanks.Folks,
Hello. Thanks a lot for replying. I do the following command: [user@localhost bin]$ wget http://localhost.localdomain:1158/em
The command returns the message:

The above message repeats again and again until finally returns the following message:
11:39:02 (40.2 KB/s) - Read error at byte 7 (Connection reset by peer).Giving up.
In browser, http://localhost.localdomain:1158/em cannot display and pop up a Windows with the message: You have chosen to open whicn is BIN file from http://localhost.localdomain:1158 What sholud FireFox do with this file ? Save to Disk ?
My question is:
I don't know how to display http://localhost.localdomain:1158/em in Browser. How to solve the issue ?
Thanks.
