DC/DC adaptor for MacBookPro or Macbook

I am thinking of replacing one of my powerbooks with a Macbook or MacBookPro for use on my sailboat. So I need a DC/DC converter and one does not seem to be available for the Macbook series. I do know that I can possibly use a DC to AC converter but aside from not wanting another instrument in a confined space I am also learly of the AC out, which may be a square wave or modified square wave and might damage the equipment. Any suggestions?

souvikfromKolkata,
yes, it can be upgraded to Mavericks. Whether you can upgrade other software packages will probably depend more upon which version of OS X you have installed than the particular hardware model.

  • Ethernet adaptor for MacBook

While traveling internationally, I often run into hotels where wired Ethernet internet access is available in the room, but WiFi is available only in the lobby.
Is there an adaptor for the new MacBook Pro 15 retina that enables me to plug into a wired Ethernet?  Maybe it would be a dongle, similar to the iPad-->HDMI out adaptor...?
    Thank you!

  • Travel adaptor for Macbook with magsafe connector?

Has anyone found anyone that sells a aircraft travel adaptor for the Macbook?
Kensington do one for the old iBook but a magsafe connector version has not appeared.
Hopefully this is not becasue Apple have patented the design of the magsafe connector and are not letting anyone else produce them.
If this is indeed the case, and Apple don't produce their own travel adapter, I will be quite cross as the whole point of having a laptop is so you can take it with you when you are travelling.
If the voltages for the iBook are the same as the Macbook how about producing an iBook to Magsafe adapter so we can use the 3rd party travel adapters?

I just checked and the prongs on my MB adapter are exactly the same as the ones on my iPod power adapter. They should work just fine.
From a manufacturing standpoint, it makes no sense to have two different products for the same exact job.

Yes.  You can use one of a higher wattage, just not a lower wattage.

Is there an SDXC adaptor for Macbook Air 11

For computers without a built-in camera card reader, you can purchase one for use
with a USB port. So long as the adapter is qualified for use with SDXC, it should work.
    Good luck!

  • Tucano Cobra Horizontal Limit for 13,3" MacBook and 15,4" MacBookPro

    Part Number: TJ793
I have left this review on the above-mentioned item. The review is being checked at the moment, I guess to check if it is suitable for public display.
"This item is NOT for a 13" MacBook. I have left the following review on the Apple store, whither it will actually be added to the item i have no idea.
This is not for a 13.3" MacBook
Having owned an Apple 12” iBook and a Tucano Cobra bag that was absolutely made to measure, I waited patiently for the equivalent for my new 13.3” MacBook.
Eventually I decided to order the above-mentioned item. On opening the box I was somewhat dismayed by the fact that there was no mention of 13.3”Macbook on the attached information label. It did state that it was for a 14”iBook or a 15” PowerBook. However I took it home and tried it.
The “especially designed for Apple 13,3" MacBook…” is completely and utterly misleading as this bag in no way fits the item for which it has been supplied. The MacBook would fit in the slot but not snugly like I imagine it should. The Velcro strip when used to secure the MacBook, would leave it rattling about the compartment and therefore not secure at all.
I have contacted Apple and they are giving me a full refund once they have collected and receipted my returned order.
But I am still without a bag for my fantastic MacBook.
I am not writing this just to have a go at Apple (I love Apple products) or Tucano I am trying to be constructive and helpful."

    Based on your posting,
    1. wider/bigger screen would be better off in terms of photoshop
    2. nvidia has better video processing power as well as more video memory based from what i've seen
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8400M.html
    3. there would be only a small diffrence with .16Ghz of speed though the macbook would run faster
    4. xp is less resource hungry as compared to vista and macOS. Vista and MacOs is both resource hungry... the more memory needed to enjoy an acceptable performance for the two os mentioned... plus more memory for photoshop...
If your main work with the laptop is going to be photoshop i would suggest getting the sony... however I would suggest you take a look at macbookpro if you are going to spend that much for sony...

    Thank you for the response.
I downloaded it and it keeps telling me "No Scanner Detected." I looked on their website under supported scanners, found my Microtek ScanMaker 3600 and it says "NO" for Mac.

I just sent an email to them asking if VueScan does support a my scanner. I hope it does. I have been searching but am not proficient or know enough of what to look for. I just don't want to have to buy another scanner.

  • Power Cable for US Import Macbook

I will recently move back to the UK from the US.If I buy a 60w magsafe power adaptor for my macbook from Apple's UK store, will this be compatible with my US machine, or is the power type different. I am concerned that most US electrical items are not compatible with UK voltage.

    Hi,
A generic, "universal," notebook PC power cord will fit the MacBook power adapter's socket. If necessary, pull off the, "duck head," prongs or unplug the cord from the power pack. Plug in the universal cord, and you're good to go. The MacBook supply will work with input between 90 and 250 volts 50 or 60 Hz. The supply auto-ranges to adapt to any input.
Also note that universal notebook cords are the same as many electric razors and small appliances.

  • Does the wall charger for a 17" macbook pro work on my new Macbook Pro?

I searched for docs and specs but can't seem to come with anything. Does the wall charger for a 17" macbook pro work on my new Macbook Pro?

Well, obviously you have NO faith in me or you wouldn't ask.
Go to the Apple Store online. Search for laptop power products and look for Apple's replacement AC adaptors. One is the 60 watt model for MacBooks. The other is the 85 watt adaptor - now read this very carefully because it's in smaller, lighter print - which says for 15" and 17" MacBook Pros. Will you take Apple's word?

    HI,
    Several options.
    1) Open KeyChain Access in the Applications/Utilities folder and find the entry and double click on it
The  tick the Show Password Box
In the dialogue box that Appears put in the Mac User Password and click Allow Once.
    2) If it is an AIM Name you can use the AIM Settings site to start a Login and then say you forgot the password
The process normally sends something to your recovery email address
    3) Same as above but for Apple Issued IDs that are also AIM valid Screen Names (@mac.com and @me.com)
    4) Create a new name.
