DC not functioning with FSMO roles

hello every body,
I have 0 DC and 01 ADC lets say that DC and ADC. both were replicating AD and working properly. few days ago the motherboard of my DC failed and we replaced with new one. and obviously NIC card was attached with M.Board which also changed. when i boot up
my DC, i see its not functioning as domain controller as i saw in server manager all FSMO roles are with red cross. i assign the ip address which it hold previous i.e 192.168.0.1. but still FSMO roles are disabled. While my only ADC is working properly with
following errors and warning in AD DS roles. 
Warning on ADC:
The remote server which is the owner of a FSMO role is not responding.  This server has not replicated with the FSMO role owner recently.

My DC is working properly as a System.
should i have to do something with my NIC or AD DS roles or i have to transfer FSMOs to ADC. or sieze fsmo roles of DC on ADC.
please help.

Is your DC (role holder) a DNS Server as well? I assume it is, if so open the server role properties and ensure the DNS server role shows the IP in the interface if it does not you may need to uninstall/ re-install the DNS server role (assuming it is a 2008
R2 DC or above... Also did you look at your NIC settings? Did you re-establish the exact same NIC configuration as before?
When the motherboard gets replaced and new NICS are introduced I normally look at the NIC settings and DNS Server roles... That is the Microsoft side of things. On the LAN/ WAN side of things if your network team has port security enabled on the switches
the port may be locked down due to the new MAC Address.

  • Is it Possible to Promote DC on a Subnet With Connectivity to a Site DC But Not DC with FSMO Roles???

    I apologize in advance for the rambling novella, but I tried to include as many details ahead of time as I could.
    I guess like most issues, this one's been evolving for a while, it started out with us trying to add a new member 
    to a replication group that's on a subnet without connectivity to the FSMO roles holder. I'll try to describe the 
    layout as best as I can up front.
    The AD only has one domain & both the forest & domain are at 2008R2 function level. We've got two sites defined in 
    Sites & Services, Site A is an off-site datacenter with one associated subnet & Site B with 6 associated subnets, A-F. 
    The two sites are connected by a WAN link from a cable provider. Subnets E & F at Site B have no connectivity to Site A 
    across that WAN, only what's available through the front side of the datacenter through the public Internet. The network 
    engineering group involved refuses to route that WAN traffic to those two subnets & we've got no recourse against that 
    decision; so I'm trying to find a way to accomplish this without that if possible.
    The FSMO roles holder is located at Site A. I know that I can define a Site C, add Subnets E & F to that site, & then 
    configure an SMTP site link between Sites A & C, but that only handles AD replication, correct? That still wouldn't allow me, for example, 
    to enumerate DFS namespaces from subnets E & F, or to add a fileserver on either of those subnets as a member to an existing
    DFS replication group, right? Also, root scalability is enabled on all the namespace shares.
    Is there a way to accomplish both of these things without transferring the FSMO roles from the original DC at Site A to, say, 
    the bridgehead DC at Site B? 
    When the infrastructure was originally setup by a former analyst, the topology was much more simple & everything was left
    under the Default First Site & no sites/subnets were setup until fairly recently to resolve authentication issues on 
    Subnets E & F... I bring this up just to say, the FSMO roles holder has held them throughout the build out & addition of 
    all sorts of systems & I'm honestly not sure what, if anything, the transfer of those roles will break. 
    I definitely don't claim to be an expert in any of this, I'll be the first to say that I'm a work-in-progress on this AD design stuff, 
    I'm all for R'ing the FM, but frankly I'm dragging bottom at this point in finding the right FM. I've been digging around
    on Google, forums, & TechNet for the past week or so as this has evolved, but no resolution yet. 
    On VMs & machines on subnets E & F when I go to DFS Management -> Namespace -> Add Namespaces to Display..., none show up 
    automatically & when I click Show Namespaces, after a few seconds I get "The namespaces on DOMAIN cannot be enumerated. The 
    specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted". If I run a dfsutil /pktinfo, nothing shows except \sysvol 
    but I can access the domain-based DFS shares through Windows Explorer with the UNC path \\DOMAIN-FQDN\Share-Name then when 
    I run a dfsutil /pktinfo it shows all the shares that I've accessed so far.
    So either I'm doing something wrong, or, for some random large, multinational company, every sunbet & fileserver one wants 
    to add to a DFS Namespace has to be able to contact the FSMO roles holder? Or, are those ADs broken down with a child domain 
    for each Site & a FSMO roles holder for that child domain is located in each site?

    Unfortunately a lot of the intricacies of DFS leave my head as soon as I’m done with a particular design or troubleshooting situation but from memory, having direct connectivity to the PDC emulator for a particular domain is the key to managing domain based
    DFS.
    Have a read of this article for the differences between “Optimize for consistency” vs “Optimize for scalability”:

    In brief, I’d say they mean:
    In consistency mode the namespace servers always poll the PDCe for the latest and greatest information on the namespaces they are hosting.
    In scalability mode the namespace servers should poll the closest DC for information on the namespaces they are hosting.
    The key piece of information in that article about scalability mode is: “Updates are still made to the namespace object in Active Directory on the PDC emulator, but namespace servers do not discover those changes until the updated namespace object replicates
    (using Active Directory replication) to the closest domain controller for each namespace server.”
    I read that as saying you can have a server running DFS-N as long as it has connectivity to a DC but if you want to make changes, do them from a box that has direct connectivity to the PDCe. Then let AD replication float those changes out to your other DCs
    where the remote DFS-N server will eventually pick them up. Give it a try and see how you get on.
    That being said, you may want to double check that you have configured the most appropriate FSMO role placement in your environment's AD design:

  • Status bar missing in Firefox 6.0, also Real player does not function with updated version, had to switch back to 3.6

    I've installed Firefox 6.0 about 3 times and each time I noticed that the status bar at the bottom of the page was missing. I relied upon the Norton Security "lock icon" which in version 3.6 would appear in the lower right hand corner of the status bar before signing in to websites or making transactions and found it very helpful. It was present in version 3.6 but not in 6.0. When I went back to 3.6 I suddenly had problems with the page freezing up so returned to 6.0 which corrected the problem but was not comfortable without the icon. I contacted Norton and via remote access the tech determined that the problem exists with Firefox's 6.0 version so he reinstalled 3.6 for me. Also I have a paid subscription to Real player Plus and it does not function with 6.0. I'm concerned because it seems you will soon phase out 3.6 and I will be without these functions which are important to me.

    I have a solution! Follow this link and download the older version. When I installed it, everything came back as it was before! Yay! Good luck to you all. And bad move, Mozilla, in not making it clearer what the system requirements were for the update!!!!

  • Why is it that image grayscaler code for website is not functioning with Mozilla Firefox, yet it does to other browser?

    I just noticed that my code(in my blog site), which is a ordinary code that allows image to turn into its grayscale form and hover its original color, is not functioning with Mozilla Firefox browser. But with other browsers, it's working. I hope you can help me with this little issue. Thank you!

    Does it use a CSS rule similar to:

  • Some hyperlinks do not function with FF 29.0.1 vista

    Firefox ver. 29.0.1
    Some links on some websites (eg. www.change.org) do not respond when clicked. (Others do.)
    Some objects on these pages do not function (eg. "thermometer" progress bar and "Sign" button)
    Pages work under Internet Explorer. (copy from FF address bar to IE address bar)
    Site used to work under FF 28. Site did not work with FF 29.0.
    Still using same add-ons as with FF 28 except added The Add-on Bar.
    No prefs changed.
    OS fully up to date.
    Adobe software fully up to date.

    The sign button appears, but it isn't active for 30 seconds, at least in my test. The page loads scripts from several additional sites during that process.
    To determine whether any of your extensions is involved, could you test some of the problem sites in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
    You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
    After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

    My issue is with the keybaord of my Macbook Pro. Just yesterday I noticed the following problems with my keyboard.
    Error Issue:
    Right Shift key+D
    Right Shift key+C
    Right Shift key+E
    Left CMD+C
    Are all not functioning. I don't know what happened, I ran the keyboard viewer and tested all these keys out, the weird thing is that I can use the alternate keys on right and left, like shift and CMD.
    Please help your urgent feedback is appreciated.

    I suggest trying the following (check after each step):
    1) Reboot

    4) check in a different user space (maybe it's a preferences problem)

  • Double Click Property Node not functioning with Queued State Machine

    I am writing an application which relies on input from the operator to start different steps in a process of steps.  I am using a queued state machine, however I cannot get the Double-Click property of my listbox to function with in this Queued state machine.  I have tried Creating a refrence to the Listbox and creating a property node from that refrence.  I have tried a property node of the control.  The double click functon works only if the queueing is not occuring.  It has something to do with the queue but I am at a loss as to what is causing it.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.  I have attached a simplified version of the state machine with the double click function.  Thanks for any help on this.  It is written in LV7.1

  • Mitigation runs against role but not user with same role assignment

    Hello, I'm currently running Compliance Calibrator 4.0. I've created a Mitigation Control and assigned a number of Risks to the Mitigation Control.
    I've then assigned the Risks in that Mitigation Control to a specific role.
    When I run the SoD check, the role no longer shows any issues. This is good and expected.
    However, when I run the SoD against a user that has that role assigned the user is reported with issues when no SoD issues should be shown.
    Am I missing something? I don't believe I need to assign Mitigation Control to the user, because one day the risk might be valid to that user, but just not for the role I'm trying to mitigate against. Many thanks.

    Hi Dylan, the system is reacting correctly.
    When you mitigate a role, you mitigate the risk associated with the role and under 'Role Analysis' you will see that this role has been mitigated.
    However when u run a User analysis, the system will still identify him if there is a 'RISK' associated with the user and this is regardless of whether the associated Role is mitigated or not because what you want to know is the risk of the user and not what roles this user has.
    You will need to specifically mitigate the User in order for the mitigation control to show against the User in the report.
    This is the same Vice Versa. when you mitigate a User, it also does not mean that all the associated Roles that the user have are mitigated. The risk associated with the roles will still appear when you do 'Role Analysis'

    You bring music to my ears. A few questions (I'm sold at this point, just want these questions answered for sugar coating, I guess):
    1.) Does the Project Mix communicate effectively with Logic's 'MIDI Learn' feature? I tried utilizing this with M-Audio's Trigger Finger, but the Finger (or Logic, can't tell which) did not lock on to the assignment. Having any trouble with this?
    2.) Are there memory banks and is it easy to save all settings at any given point to certain bank? Ideally I'd like to have a different memory bank for each song, so an extensive inventory of blank memory would be very useful.
    3.) How's the LCD Screen? Really awesome or uncommunicative with the user (as in, do the abbreviations make it difficult to read, or is it fairly intuitive?)

  • PCI-4472 not functioning with DAQmx Linux 8.0

    We have multiple systems with PCI-4472 cards in them running SUSE Linux, and all but one of them function properly.  On the particular system in question (which has identical hardware and software to the functioning systems), nilsdev lists no devices.  Further investigation revealed the following excerpt from dmesg:

    Assuming that the NULL pointer deference was caused by the preceding failed vmalloc, I attempted to increase the vmalloc size to 512MB (which is certainly overkill).  This did nothing to clear the error.  One final detail is that this computer dual boots Windows, while the others have only ever run Linux.  It shouldn't matter, but I feel it is worth mentioning in the event that DAQmx for Windows somehow mangles the configuration of the card to a point where it no longer functions with DAQmx for Linux.  It should be noted that the card works just fine under Windows.
    I have the output from niSystemReport available in the event that it will help in diagnosing the problem, but am unable to attach it due to the size restriction of this forum.  The call trace from dmesg is in the attached file.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have a couple of other questions which might help us narrow this down.
    1.  You said both the working and non working machines have identical hardware and software.  I'm assuming this means both machines are Pentium 4 3.2 GHz SMP machines 2 GB of RAM, have the same motherboards etc.  I also assume that this means that they also are both running SUSE 10.0 and have the same updates, and kernel versions.  Is this correct?  A system report from the working machine could also help us confirm this.
    2.  Can you easily reproduce the Oops?  When does it occur?  Does it happen when the machine first boots up, or do you have to run nilsdev first?

  • Troubleshooting MB110LL/A keyboard not functioning with macbook

    Purchased the keyboard used - my first mistake, I'll admit - and the seller wants me to troubleshoot the keyboard before accepting a return/refund.
    What can I try?

    Half the keys do not produce characters on screen. They simply do not function. I've attempted connecting it to multiple ports on my macbook as well as my cinema display to no effect.
    I can attempt to plug it into a windows computer, but I do not have a second mac to test it on. As it's a usb keyboard, this should be sufficient to test, right?

  • Service Desk messages not visible with SAP_SUPPDESK_ADMIN Role

    We are configuring Service Desk in Solution Manager 7.0 Ehp1.
    I am able to see the support messages from the user 'BASIS' with SAP_ALL authorization.
    There is another user 'X'. Here User 'X' has following Roles - SAP_SUPPDESK_ADMIN, SAP_SUPPDESK_CREATE, SAP_SUPPDESK_PROCESS, SAP_SUPPDESK_DISPLAY, SAP_SUPPCF_ADMIN, SAP_SUPPCF_PROCESS, SAP_SUPPCF_DISP.
    After this I set the message processor  to be user 'X'.
    Now when I try to see the message with T-code: crm_dno_monitor, it is not displaying any messages.
    But as per the Solman Security Guide, SAP_SUPPDESK_ADMIN and SAP_SUPPCF_ADMIN are master roles for Service Desk.
    Please help in resolving the issue.

  • Home Sharing will not work with my Windows 8 64bit with new itunes.  All of my Apple TVs will not see my library and my iphones will not function with the "Remote" App.  They all did before.  Only thing that has changed is new PC/itunes.  Any Ideas?

    Installed a new Windows PC on my home network.  PC is Windows 8/64bit. with latest version of itunes 11.1.4.62 for 64bit.  My itunes works, but I can not get Home Sharing to function now.  None of my Apple TV's can see my computer library and prompt me to turn it on.  All of my iphones, pods, pad, can not use the "Remote" app.  When you prompt your phone in Remote App to "add library" and you get the code....iTunes doesnt give you the remote screen where you can enter the code.  I have reloaded iTunes, reset my router, updated all devices.  You can turn on "Home Sharing" on iTunes, but then it closes and doesnt seem to link my devices like it use to.  Also, when the new version of iTunes is up on my PC, you can see the other devices to AirPlay to like you could before.  However, I can send items from my iphone to stream to an Apple TV, I just cant link them all like I could before and control the music playing to multiple Apple TV.  Growing fustrated.  Any ideas, would be helpful.

    You are a legend!!  I have spent countless hours uninstalling, reinstalling itunes, playing with firewall settings, reading articles on this problem!!  I only have to un-sync my iphone 5 and then the airplay icon magically appeared!!!  Maybe I have too many devices syncing via wi-fi, or maybe it is the Iphone syncing??
    Whatever - one step and now I can enjoy my music through my house again!
