DC Power Jack part number Satellite M105-S3041

Greetings,
My Toshiba laptop (M105-S3041) seems to be having a lot of problems with the power.
My OEM Power adapter broke and i bought a replacement (non OEM) from ebay.
That has been working fine till about a month ago I started having problems charging my laptop.
I believe the power adapter is working fine (as the light on the adapter lights up) and I may be having a problem with my power jack.
I have been searching for the model / part number for the DC Power jack without any luck. Would someone please help me out with the correct model/part number, where to buy and the approximate price for it?
Secondly, does anyone know if the power jack is plug 'n' play or does it need to be soldered into the mother board?
I have been pretty good at dis-assembling the laptop and putting it back together (except for one damn screw that does not agree to come off, I will probably saw that guy off).
Thank
Ajay

Hi
Im not quite sure but I think the DC-in socket is soldered to motherboard.
In such case it would be tricky procedure in order to replace this.
But it seems that you are not 100% sure that this part malfunctions.
It could be also the AC adaptor issue as you said, you bought an not original part.
Its just a suggestion but I would try to replace the AC adaptor with an Toshiba recommended one before trying to disassemble the notebook and to replace the DC-in socket.
PS: All parts can be ordered from local Toshiba ASP!

  • Safe to buy AC adaptors from Ebay for Satellite M105-s3041?

    Hi,
I have just lost my ac-power adaptor for my Satellite M105-s3041 computer.
I want to get a replacement but I bought my computer in the US and am not sure a replacement would have a UK 3-pin plug.
Also similarly to another guy on here I wonder if it is safe to byuy adaptors from e-bay as I don't want to shell out so much money for a replacement adaptor.
Do any of you have experience with 2-bay replacements?
I also don't know which adaptor would be correct for my model,
    Hope you can help,
    Chris

For me it looks like the Satellite M105-s3041 is a US notebook series.
I checked the Toshiba US page and found this page:
    [Satellite M105-S3041 Detailed Product Specification|http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_outFrm.jsp?moid=1364114&rpn=PSMA0U&ct=DS&soi d=1420312]
You need a 15V - 5A AC Adapter with 50-60Hz frequency (Universal) input.
The PA2521U-2ACA Toshiba 90W Global AC Adapter would be compatible also...
    You are asking if its safe to use an AC adaptor from Ebay;
Well, usually you should use the compatible and supported parts.
But I think you could also use another part but its important that an 3rd party AC adaptor would support the same specification like the Toshiba AC adaptor.
    Then everything should work ok

Of course the DC jack can be replaced but its a matter of notebook experience
Would not recommend doing this if you dont know hwo to do that exactly and if you have not done this in the past

  • Power Adapter Part Number

Have a HP G63-355DX (HP Product #XH068UA#ABA) that is missing the AC Power Adapter to charge the unit. I have found the specifications listing for the unit, but not the HP part number or the HP spares part number. The adapter is a 65W, 18.5V and possibly PA-1650-02H is mentioned when I try searching.
Can you provide the HP part and Spares (typically ending in -001) for this unit?

  • Ge620 dc jack part number?

ge-620 MS-16G5- As in the title, I managed to somehow pull out the center post of the darned thing. It slides back in place, and apparently the power brick is still powering the laptop, however this is obviously not a stable long term arrangement. Does anyone know what part I'd need to pick up to fix it? I haven't seen any of the laptopjacks.domain type places or eBay stores list this model, and as it's my daily computer I'd like to not have it apart any more or more often than necessary. I'm handy with a soldering iron and have done this specific repair on other, lesser laptops using generic barrel connectors, but would like to keep this one nice and as close original as possible. Oftentimes you get a part that would fit but for the height/width and you wind up with a chewed up case :(

Right, well after getting another laptop and paying it half off I went ahead and tore into the ge620. the power jack is actually quite reperable, it is separate from the motherboard, and there are wires that solder into it, as opposed to being part of the mobo or even a daughterboard. +respect to MSI for that! there were 2-3 red cables soldered together and soldered to the center pin, and they were no longer attached to said pin from the back. To dissasemble I took out the battery, removed 2 screws under it, took out the dvd drive (there's a screw that's marked that holds it in) and took out 3 screws under that. Took off the back panel, undid every screw that I saw, and then flipped it over, carefully opened the top, popped the keyboard off (if you look carefully at the top there are 4 slots, you can use a spudger/thin screwdriver to pop it out), removed another screw or so and then the top housing came off. I had to loosen the left hinge and then take out a small metal bracket to the left of said hinge and the power jack is just wedged into a molded cavity for it. After resoldering the broken connection and then prying up on this little metal tab for the ground connection and re-assembling it works as good as new. I'm posting from it now. If you do this yourself i recommend taking pictures of every screw you take out, I somehow managed to optimize the design by about 5 tiny screws but it is together, solid, and working. Also recommend you repack the HSF goop while you're in there. the fan has 3 screws and has to come out before the heat sink/tubes. Also note: the keyboard ribbon connector slides forward to release it, the top panel has ribbin connectors for the trackpad and top button bar that rotate up to release the cables.

    Hi Ben,
The power connector is a Mini-Combicon 4 position connector. The part number is 761785-01. You will have to call the Service Line to get pricing and availability. You can get these from Digikey, which might be a better option for these.

Hi Frank, thanks for the answer. The 761785-01 link is not working (probably only available to NI employees) and a search for 761785-01 on the NI website returns nothing found.

  • No Sound - Satellite M105-S3041 XP PRO SP3

    Hi!
I recently ran into this particular laptop through a client who seemed to have gotten a bad virus.
I installed a legit copy of Windows XP PRO with SP3 Slipstreamed into the installer disk because I continued to get a STOP error before I could even get anywhere with the windows installation.
So now everything is running perfectly fine except there is no sound. I have installed all the correct drivers from the toshiba website. I have even run Driver Genius Professional to sort out the couple of yellow question/exclamation marks in the device manager.
The only question mark left in the device manager is "pci device."
When I go into control panel to pull up Sounds and Audio Devices everything is grayed out and says "No Audio Device."
The only thing I can think of that I haven't done is flashed the bios but wasn't sure if that could improve this situation so I thought I'd ask here for some advice. Any response is greatly appreciated.
    Thank You in advance!

Interestingly enough I have really no option to uninstall audio drivers. In devince manager > Sound, video and game controllers I have these listed:
    Audio Codecs
    Legacy Audio Drivers
    Legacy Video Capture Devices
    Media Control Devices
    Video Codecs
I did a search for Realtek and there is a folder in Program Files. If I click on Realtek Audio Control Panel, it will not load.
Soundman.exe was running in processes under the task manager but I did not recognize any other process related to audio or the realtek control panel.
Maybe suggesting a different audio driver would do the trick but at this point I'm not really sure what to do. I have never had any difficulties in the past 10 years installing audio drivers/devices... this should technically be easy [i.e. onboard card, using drivers directly off of toshibas website, etc etc]
The one thing I have not done is ask the client if they even had audio before the virus crashed the computer to see if it might be a hardware issue.

    Hi dear friend,
you had the wrong partnumber. What you need is PA3283U2ACA (K000028790) which is the right one. Heres a link where you can check the connector of the AC-adapter:

Best address to order Toshiba parts is nearest Toshiba authorized service provider.
You can also order this part in some hardware online store in your country. I don't know where do you live and cannot say which store is best for you.
One interesting place to find new and used hardware parts is eBay. check eBay for your country and I am sure you will find DC power jack there, and if not you can find out which company offer such parts and try to order one for you.
Maybe you can also find defective motherborard for your notebook (defective graphic or something else) but be able to use this small part for you.
Check all these options and find out where you can get it for good price.
