DCM9900 how to prepare 16Gb compact flash card?

Dear all,
I want to upgrade the DCM to the actual s/w release. Right now i have a 1Gb CF-card. To upgrade to the newest s/w i need a 16Gb CF-card. Do anybody know how i can "install" the 16Gb card. I replaced the CF-card and tried it with the "upgrade-it" tool. But its not possible to do it in this way.
Does anybody knows something about it and how i can do this?
cheers,
Daniel

Some camera manufacturers insist that you format it in the camera; so, if you can format it on the Mac using Disk Utility, I'd suggest inserting it in the camera after that and see if you can format it there. I usually erase mine (also Canon camera) on the Mac, but do occasionally format them in the camera.

  • MSI 6667BB-003US Sees 16GB Compact Flash Card as 34MB

I just got a MSI 6667BB-003US nettop from Newegg and am trying to use the onboard compact flash slot. I got a 16GB Kingston compact flash card to use with this computer but the computer only sees it as 34MB. The BIOS doesn't give me any options to change settings for it. How do I get this thing to recognize the full 16GB of space on this card? I've used a card reader on my other computer to check the card and it shows up correctly.
    Thanks.

Who knows why, just 'one of those things' I suppose...

iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> General -> Connecting Camera opens.... And select your preferred app.

how can I get my new ipad 4 to read my compact flash cards? If not, can I download the images directly from my camera?

Tom, thanks for your quick reply. I'm a commerical photographer using Canon 5D mk2's mostly and have in the past just downloaded images to a mac book for backup. I really liked the compact size of the Ipad and just got the retina model with the camera connection kit and seem to be hearing that CF readers can't be used with it b/c they draw too much power. Seems like I remember reading I could use a cord that might have come with my cameras to download directly to the Ipad. I haven't tried it yet as I can't find the connection but then you just said it can't be done?
I'm COMPLETLY lost as to your "first pluging in a flash drive to my computer, advice. Do you mean Ipad when you say computer?  "then put your movie/photo files into the folder." HOW????????
Then plug it into the Ipad??????     TOTALLY lost.
Also your saying just "do a google search for a reader doesn't work b/c NONE are able to work with the newer Ipads b/c they use TOO much power or so everyone says everyone that have tried.
Hope you can help a little more b/c I'm really getting frustrated with all the conflicting advice!

  • Copying file from a Compact Flash Card or Epson Picture Viewer issues

I am a photographer and have been experiencing issues when trying to copy or move files from my compact flash cards or my viewer HD device. Both my Sandisk reader and the epson connect to my iMac through USB (rear ports) and during the copy process, I get messages that one of the files are in use, and the rest of the copy is aborted. Since the copy process doesn't work in a numerical or filename fashion, I have to look through each file that has been copied and try to identify which files were missed. The weird thing is that if I try to copy the file that was mentioned in use, it works fine
I am copying to a USB External drive, connected to my Airport Extreme. I've encountered the same things when the HD was connected directly to the iMac.
I am getting very frustrated with this process, and am looking for insight on how to make this go away, or at the very least, is there an application that will copy/move and verify the files before exiting? I can't help but think that I may have missed files here and there, and those files could be now lost memories.
    Any help would be appreciated

They'll record either while simutaniously recording to tape. I believe the HDV is in a .M2t format but I'm not sure about the DV file format. As for quality, your guess is as good as mine, I haven't had the chance to play with one yet.

  • Compact Flash Cards

Tonight, after shooting about 650 pictures, I put my compact flash card into my reader and the card gets trashed. I stick a second one in and it also gets trashed..unable to read it. I am attempting to rescue with the SanDisk rescue card.
The only thing different from last week that I can currently think of was I installed two 500 gig Western Digital MyBook Pro external firewire drives and installed the WD Button software and drivers.
Anyone have some suggestions as to what to look for?
I turned off the WD drives and rebooted, but that did not make any difference, and I do not know how to find the WD drivers (these are USB 2.0, Firewire 400 and 800 compabtible drives?
    Thanks
    Steven

After a bit more investigation, I booted my mac from my backup disk (last back up was BEFORE the western digital install) and I still had the trashing of the CF card. I tried both a card from Lexar as well as SanDisk..and from my D70 as well as my D200.
Strangly an old LaCie CF reader, when plugged into the mac seems to work fine running the primary system drive.
The fact that my backup system was also trashing (without WD software installed) and my LaCie CF reader (although I think it is 1.0) seems to work with the primary system drive makes me think that my Belkin CF reader is the culprit.
Has anyone had problems with the Belkin Hi-Speed USB 2.0 8-in-1 reader trashing CF cards?
    Thanks
    Steven

  • Can't download photos from Compact Flash card

I have a H530S. It has a 7in1 card reader but I have a SanDisk Ultra Compact Flash4GB card which doesn't fit in the card reader. I also have a USB Card Reader / Writer which I've plugged in but nothing happens. It is a iVAVA CRV900.
Please can someone tell me how I can download my photos from this type of card? It used to fit in my old Dell computer, so this is rather annoying that it now not so easy. I had presumed that the super-duper 7 in 1 card reader would at least have a slot that my Compact Flash card would fit in to as it is a common type card used in Canon SLR cameras.

    Solved!

Is anyone going to help me with this please? I've rung tech support and left a message for them to call me and no-one has called and I've emailed them as well and had no reply.

  • Recovering lost deleted data from compact flash card

Hi Any help here would be greatly appreciated...
I filmed some footage onto a compact flash card(sony fx_1 onto a sony memory recording unit/transcend flash card)...all appeared to be working fine untill i got home and the card wouldnt be read..I took it into a shop for data recovery and he managed to return, what we think are the files...
But so far cannot open these files, they are Unix Executable File, does anyone know how to open these files?
Or has anyone had a similar experience or success at recovering media files...they were recorded as HDV format...
Cheers for any suggestions (client is most unamused at the moment)

Make sure they have the correct file type extension on the file name. (eg if quicktime, they would be .mov)

  • Booting x4540 with a Compact Flash card

    Hi Y'all,
I'm having this weird problem with a brand new SunFire x4540. They have the Compact Flash slot in the back, such that you can install the OS on the card and boot off it, thus allowing you to use all 48 SATA drives in the machine.
In the docs, it says "use only a 8GB or 16GB Compact Flash (CF) Card":
    http://docs.sun.com/source/820-4855-12/chap3-pre.html#0_pgfId-1008964
So I'm trying to use a 16GB CF card, a SanDisk Extreme 16GB UDMA CF. But, when I go into the BIOS, I see this (under IDE configuration):
    Device: Primary IDE Master
    Vendor: SanDisk SDCFX-016G
    Size: 0MB <--- This can't be right
    LBA Mode: Supported
    Block Mode: Not Supported
    PIO Mode: 4
    Async DMA: MulitiWord DMA-2
    Ultra DMA: Ultra DMA-5
    S.M.A.R.T.: Not Supported
Now, I can install OpenSolaris on it, it sees it fine during install and no errors are reported during install, but I cannot boot from it, it dumps me to the grub prompt. It makes me suspicious that the BIOS thought it was 0MB big. At grub, I can do this:
    grub> geometry (hd0)
    drive 0x80: C/H/S = 1024/255/63, The number of sectors = 64528, LBA
    Partition num: 0, [BSD/SOLARIS sub-partitions immediately follow]
    BSD/SOLARIS Partition num: 'a', zio_read_data failed
Error 18: Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS
    BSD/SOLARIS Partition num: 'c',
Error 18: Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS
    BSD/SOLARIS Partition num: 'i',
Error 18: Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS
That makes me think that the disk is too big for the BIOS, even though the docs say a 16GB CF should work. Now, we have another x4540 that DOES boot off a 4GB CF. We tried it in the new 4540 and it does work there as well. So: Are the docs wrong, and you must have only a 4GB CF? The BIOS sees the 4GB CF just fine:
    Device: Primary IDE Master
    Vendor: Kingston 4G
Size: 3.8GB <--- It sees the size
    LBA Mode: Supported
    Block Mode: Not Supported
    PIO Mode: 4
    Async DMA: MulitiWord DMA-2
    Ultra DMA: Not Supported
    S.M.A.R.T.: Not Supported
Or, are only certain CF cards supported? I could not find a list anywhere... I tried contacting Sun Hardware support but no one seems to have any info over there yet. Does anyone here perhaps have any data? Like, which CF cards are supported? From what I gather, Oracle does not sell CF cards anymore and we were asked to buy a 3rd party one, without knowing there would be problems.
    Thanks for any insight!
PS- I already upgraded the BIOS to the latest version to try to fix this, but it didn't help...

    Hello,
We boot 6250 blades in a SUN Blade 6000 chassis with 4GB Kingston compact flash cards, and have no issue. It sounds like the docs are incorrect that the 16GB card is supported, as the BIOS needs to be able to recognize it and does not. Since Solaris or Linux will fit just fine in 4GB, I'd suggest going that route, unless you need it for more than just the OS (like using it for swap as well).

  • Problem with Plugging in Compact Flash Card

I am having a problem now when I plug my compact flash card in to download pictures.  When I plug the card in, the AutoPlay window pops up, as it always does.  However, I also get another window that pops up and says "Lightroom must quit because catalog named Lightroom Catalog.lrcat is not writeable and cannot be opened.   This could be caused by incorrect permissions or because another Lightroom application is using the catalog.  You may select a different catalog the next time you run Lightroom  by holding down the control key while Lightroom launches."
This problem started yesterday.  I had just upgraded to LR 3.5 the day before the problem started.
    Couple of other things:
    1.  Lightroom was not launched at the time I plug in the card and this problem has occurred.   In fact, I just restarted my system a shortwhile ago to test this problem, and it happened again.
    2.  My Lightroom catalog is actually called Lightroom 3 Catalog.lrcat, not Lightroom Catalog.lrcat.
    3.  I have never had my system set up to automatically launch Lightroom when my card is plugged in.
    4.  I have not actually downloaded any pictures from a card for about 2 weeks before I did yesterday, so I cannot say for certain whether or not LR 3.5 is the cause of the problem and perhaps something else is.  But the fact is that I did upgrade to LR 3.5 a few days ago.
    5.  Once I close both the AutoPlay window and the LR dialogue window, I can launch LR 3.5 with no problem and import pictures as I normally do.

  • IMac error message with 32Gb compact flash card from Nikon D4

    Hi
I have a iMac 2.8Gig core 2 duo running 10.7.4 - I get a error message (the disk inserted is not readable by this computer) when using 32gb compact flash cards from my Nikon D4, have tried bith Sandisk and Lexar cards same error message. However both cards work fine on my MacBook Pro and a Windows machine. If I format the 32Gig card in my Nikon D300 it is recognised on the iMac. So it appears to be the way the Nikon D4 formats the card that the iMac dosen't like, however as I said it's fine in the MacBook Pro.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
