DCNM Discovery Issues

Hello Community,
Can someone please help determine why I'm unable to discover our NX7's and NX5's, using DCNM-LAN. From the screen shot when I click on 'Click here to discover the devices in DCNM', I'm taken to the web page showing the devices that have been discovered (see screen shot 2). However, the devices don't appear in the Cisco Prime DCNM-LAN.
And I imagine the reason I'm not able to see any devices in the topology view is because I'm not able to discover any devices?
Please help.
Cheers
Carlton

Hi Carlton,
After discovery you need to perform an "deep discovery" for the devices.
You can find this here:
admin>data sources>LAN
Mark the task and press the "edit LAN' pencil icon.
Then select the device and OK. After this the devices will show up in DCNM - LAN.
Cheers
Alex

  • DCNM Discovery

    Hi
I'm having issues with DCNM discovering some Nexus 7K's.  Shallow discovery seems fine.  I enter the Nexus and its snmpv3 credentials in
    DCNM> Admin>Data Sources>LAN
I enter the device as a single device in a switch list and it finds it as manageable.  I select the device and it goes into Discovering.
Sometimes it completes this part and allows me to go to Deep discovery.  Other times I get snmp timeout messages.  I have had it complete a deep discovery and show up on my topology map only for it to disappear a day later again with snmp timeout errors.  I've confirmed the snmpv3 credentials work with a 3rd party MIB browser which lets me test credentials and all is ok with them.
    My first question is
The DCNM server seems to have an incorrect time.  Is this a possible issue ? If so how do I set the time ?  I've looked all over the GUI and can't find any place to set it.  Is it taken from the VM platform or is it set independently ?
Are there any other issues that may cause discovery problems ?
    Thanks, Stuart.

Further troubleshooting has led me to put a capture on the Nexus to see if that sheds any light on what's going on.  I get the following output from the capture.
    172.31.1.1 -> 172.30.1.1     SNMP Source port: 59596  Destination port: snmp[Malformed Packet]
That's from the DCNM server to the Nexus.

  • SQL Discovery issue

    Hello everyone,
I have different issue for SQL DB Engine discovery, for one of the Clustered SQL instance the discovery is not happening and I followed all the steps specified in SQL MP guide and below is the configuration made in general
    1) Installed the agent on cluster nodes and enabled the proxy for those agents.
    2) Configured the Run as account and liked them to specific SQL profiles as mentioned in SQL MP guide.
    3) Necessary permission for low privilege environment has been provided at SQL Nodes, cluster and Database.
when logged on the cluster nodes to investigate further I see different versions of the SQL server is installed (2008 and 2012) on the same node and just wondering whether our SQL MP is capable of discovering these type of nodes?
Any comments or any suggestion how to monitor this type of SQL environment. Thanks in Advance!
    Regards,
    Bhaskar K

    Hi,
Based on my experience, the MP is able to discovery the two versions of SQL instances.
System Center Management Pack for SQL Server
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=10631
Are there any errors in the operations manager event log?
Or any errors in the SQL Server error logs on the one of instance?

  • LMS 3.1 Device Discovery issue

    Hello,
I have been getting myself familiar with LMS, but can't figure out why I am having issues seeing some devices. I can't find any solution to my problem on other posts.
I have a server farm connected to my core switch, both can see each other via CDP, and the SF can ping the LMS server. However, I have 'device unreachable' on device discovery and CiscoView. SNMP community strings are the same on each device, and are configured on LMS.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
LMS tries to contact each device directly via SNMP. If it can talk directly to the device, the device is added into DCR as Reachable. If it cannot talk directly to the device, the device is deemed as Unreachable and it is not added into DCR to be managed by LMS.
If LMS is unable to communicate it could be due to any number of things including timeout, incorrect community string, snmp-server view, firewall or access list.
A definitive way to determine the issue would be to perform a packet capture during discovery to see the SNMP transaction between LMS and an 'unreachable' device.
You can also try increasing the timeout value.
    Thanks.

  • Discovery Issues with OnCommand Plug-in 4.1 for SCOM 2012 R2

I have a customer who has a NetApp cluster with FAS8040s running 8.2.1 in cluster-mode. The have SCOM 2012 R2 UR6 and the OnCommand 4.1 SCOM plug-ins. I can do an initial discovery of the cluster and it pulls back the SVM, but no other objects are discovered...no LIFs, no Nodes, no Volumes etc. I've been over the install doc many times and have not found where I might be doing something wrong. I've also searched on the interwebs and found a few suggestions, but none have changed the outcome. I've ensured the overrides are appropriate and to be sure its not a rights thing, I'm using "the" admin account. I see no indication of issues in:- The OnCommand Event Log- The OC.SCOM.logs (even in debug mode)- The SCOM task status Any help would be greatly appriciated.

We are now using a Domain account and I still can't get any further. Below are the only indications of issues I can find. ******************************************************************************** Log Name:      Operations Manager

  • Multiple primary site - Discovery issue

    Hi,
I am working on a scenario where there is 1 CAS and 3 Primary sites(PS1,PS2,PS3). At PS1 site, Active directory system Discovery is only configured and all the OU for all the sites are added. On the other two Primary sites this discovery was not configured.
Now I wanted to ask is there any issue due to this , or should I have to configure this discovery on both sites??
    Thanks
    Pallavi

no, you can still control that. Site Assignment is either based on an AD Query or you hard coding the site code during the install process. Client deployment depends on the method, in this process content boundary Groups and DP's are being used.

  • Catalyst 4507R plus E Switch Discovery Issue

    Hi,
I am having issues doing automatic discovery for Cisco Catalyst 4507R plus E Switch IOS 12.2(54)SG, I am using IP ping sweep to discover devices on my network.
When i first setup LMS4.0 with few devices on the network, i discover the C4507 without a problem together with other devices i have on the network but for some reasons now its failing to discover C4507. I have large numbers of WS-C3560X and C4507 on the network, WS-C3560X always discovered just fine.
I tried to use SolarWinds network device monitor I installed on the server to check if there's any SNMP or connectivity issues. I can discover C4507 using Solarwinds without a problem, so im suspecting it could be LMS configuration issue.
Is there any special settings I need to tweak to make this working?

A newer version of IOS should generally be fine.
It's generally the SNMP sysObjectID that LSM keys into. As noted in the table you cited, it should be 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1286 for the 4507R+E.

  • LMS Discovery Issue

We have a customer with an issue with LMS discovery.
It will discover new devices but will fail to update them to the  DCR, because it does not match the credential set policy when the  credential set is defined by Device name and an SNMP OID is used.
They have different devices and depending on the type  they use different credentials, Wireless AP’s for example use different  credentials to Routers.
They can match on other fields to get a large amount of devices discovered however are still missing the majority.
With little knowledge of this product, can anyone tell me if this is supported?
    Thanks
    Colin

    Hi Colin,
Credentials set policy has nothing to do with the devices getting updated in DCR.
while configuring the device discovery settings do not select any DCR credentilas set.
One thing that you need to make sure is that devices are SNMP reachable and the Community string that you are using in the device disocvery settings should be CORRECT.
    Thanks

  • Bluetooth discovery issue in iPhone4

Am having iphone4 unlock version purchased in US and using the same in India.  I could never get any of the device discovered in my iphone, ive switched on the personal hotspot, and bluetooth as well.
Even my ipod is not visible/discovered in my iphone4.  But ipod recognizes the iphone4.  Strange.
till now unsuccessful discovering any device in my iphone.  Any help is really appreciated.
Am in India and please let me know how to get a replacement if this issue is not resolved.  I dont want to have this much trouble after having paid to get a phone worth 800$
My iphone is having latest ios5.0,1

The iPhone does not support bluetooth file transfer. You can not pair it with another phone or iPod or a computer. You can tether via Personal hotspot, but that's a different animal.
In short, nothing is wrong. You can't do that.

  • SCCM 2012 Network Discovery Issue

    Dear Team,
I want to discover my client less devices (routers, switches, & printers) in SCCM 2012 R2 via SNMP or Subnet Mask, we don't have DHCP in environment. How do I discover this client less devices what are the settings require on SCCM server & on
client less devices (routers, switches, & printers)

The subnet information can be retrieved from a device specified on the SNMP Devices tab or you need to configure the subnet manually in Subnet tab, then Network Discovery will query the network devices.

  • DCNM Performance issues ( postgres ? )

Hello, we are evaluating DCNM-SAN to get an idea of our SAN Switches performances, ( mostly 9513).
    Environment :
Physical server ( not under VMW), with 2 x Intel Xeon 5110 processor @1.6 Ghz
    12 GB RAM
    Local disk.
    Windows Server 2008R2  64bit.
We are using a DCNM demo license and discovered 24 MDS ( 20 licensed by the demo lic, 2 already fully licensed and 2 not licensed).
In the same SAN ( 6 fabrics) we do have also 36 Nexus switches connected to the MDS for the FCoE connections to/from the servers; those Nexus are not licensed so we do not collect performances for them.
For all the licensed MDS ( 22) we are collecting performances.
We started with DCNM 6.1.2, and everything was running smooth, then 5 days ago we decided to upgrade to 6.2.1.
From the very first moment after the upgrade, we have noticed an increased load in the CPU, that normally was about 6 to 10 %;  now, after 5 days the CPU load is above 80% most of the times, and when opening a page ( i.e. dashboard, performance or inventory section) it takes about 2 minutes to have the page completed with 100% of cpu load, while before the upgrade it took about 5 secs.
I also noticed that when  cpu is 100%, it is due to 4-5 "postgres.exe *32" processes chocking it.
I took a peek at the troubleshooting section of the docs, and the only reason for a postgres slowlyness could be the DB > 3 GB, but our is only 185 MB !!
I really don't get it, tryied even a server reboot but with no luck....to my understanding, collecting performances for 24 MDS with this server HW should be ok, not  to mention that until we performed the upgrade, everything seemed to run smoothly..
Any help, please ? We are willing to evaluate the acquisition of such licenses, but we're start to having some doubt....
    Tnx in advance
    Andrea

    Hi,
you should analyze the db after you have loaded the tables.
Do you use sequences to generate PKs? Do you have a lot of indexex and/or triggers on the tables?
    If yes:
make sure your sequence caches (alter sequence s cache 10000)
Drop all unneeded indexes while loading and disable trigger if possible.
How big is your Redo Log Buffer? When loading a large amount of data it may be an option to enlarge this buffer.
Do you have more then one DBWR Process? Writing parallel can speed up things when a checkpoint is needed.
Is it possible using a direct load? Or do you already direct load?

  • Discovery issues with airport extreme and issues with airport utility

I lost about 3 hours with connection issues while trying to add a second airport express. The airport Utility couldn't find any of the units anymore. After aging a couple of years and checking lots of forums (many suffered the same problems) I found this link
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1406#
Which seemed to help me reset the units and find them again. Though I can't be certain if it was just luck, the airport utility and detection and resetting of the express and extreme seemed solved.
I would add that this is an area that should be looked at by apple. It is not the first time that I have problems with the airport utility or the extreme.

Check the cabling to the Base Station - make sure the modem is plugged into the Base Station's ethernet WAN port (ie the port labelled with the "circle of dots" icon).
With the modem cabled to the Base Station - pull power to both for five minutes or so. Then plug the modem into power and wait a minute. Then plug the Base Station into power and wait a minute. Then try internet access again.
    If that still doesn't work:
    - on the Mac which can successfully connect to the internet when cabled directly to the modem, tell us what settings are found in System Preferences->Network->Show ethernet built in->PPPoE tab, and under the TCP/IP tab.
    - from either a PC or the Mac connected to the Base Station, run the Airport Admin Utility, select the name of your base station, click Configure, click on the Internet tab. Tell us what settings are found under that tab.

  • DCNM Discovery Seed address

When I use DCNM to discover a Nexus 5548, entering its mgmt0 address (172.16.x.190) as the seed, DCNM finds it but lists it as 1.1.1.190.  It takes a long time to discover for some reason, too.  When I open the fabric, it cannot access the switch until I change its address manually, at which point it seems to fully access the device. However, the fabric seed address is still listed as 1.1.1.190.
Any idea what's going on here?

    I have this problem too.
I'm adding the seed address as the vlan management address, however, after an initial dialog it then always tries to talk to the management interface - which i've set up as private vPC keepalive link (1.1.1.2 in my case).
    I guess its picking this up from the FCS database, but I can't find anywhere how to change it;

  • System Discovery Issues in SCCM 2012

SCCM is not discovering all resources from AD OU. What could be the reason for this. This is not happening for all OU's but randomly for some of them.
Is there a method to force the system discovery to run instantly ?

    Thanks Jason,
I think my query was mixed up.
    2) Will the status be NO client ?, If yes, does that mean the complete
cycle will start again? Meaning as the client is already inactive, it will not send any more hearbeat and configmgr will again wait for the specified days before deleting it again ?
I know the difference between AD and Heartbeat discovery. I am trying to get a clear difference between
delete Inactive discovery data and delete
    aged discovery data.
I checked a blog, I think this is from you http://www.myitforum.com/forums/Delete-aged-discovery-data-and-delete-inactive-client-discovery-data-m204924.aspx
, where it says "For the Delete Inactive Client Discovery
Data task, if you haven't cleaned up AD, the object will get recreated (without the client installed flag). If you auto client push enabled, ConfigMgr will try to push to the system again"
What I get from here is, client status will be NO when it is rediscovered from AD.
Now if the machine was already deleted with Delete Inactive discovery data maintenance task, and its rediscovered, the client will again become Inactive as the machine is
not in use. Will the Inactive discovery maintenance task wait again for defined days before it deletes this machine from the database.

  • AD User discovery issues

I have a specific OU selected for User discovery but its discovering all User OU's and User groups.  I've deleted all users out of SCCM and rediscovered and same thing. Is there a way to only discover the specific OU I'm pointing to?
    Thanks
    Chris

Also make sure you've configured your AD group discovery correctly also as it will also discover members.
