DCNM Install on N1010 How to license PAK ?

With customer and they are installing DCNM SAN on their 1010 and the PAK file needs a MAC address. What MAC address do we use and how do we obtain it ? I'm assuming it's tied to the VSB it's installed into or the 1010 but need to be sure and cannot find that information, please help.

Ok, thanks for responding and I am familiar with the process and all that. But are you saying that you need the 1000v to obtain the host-id, use that host-id to license the DCNM PAK and then you can delete or remove the 1000v from the 1010 ?? If the customer bought a 1010 for DCNM and not 1000v then having the 1000v as a prerequisite to obtain a host-id doesnt sound right to me. You install the license file into the VSB via cli script commands which is indendant of the 1000v resident on another VSB so I am trying to understand the correlatoin here or at least a method to their madness.
For this reason my customer has already dumped the 1010 as a VSB for their DCNM due to no answer on it so they created a VM to host it and licensed it per the new 5.2.2 server based licensing which is a departure from switch based licensing. Well it wont allow any switches because they dont have switch license files.......TAC says they cannot create nor help them with switch based license files since they abandoned that method for server based for which they have a license already. Well it doesnt work and TAC cannot figure it out and it's still ongoing......Customer bought the Nexus infrastructure LAN and SAN licenses along with DCNM and 1010's 1000v the whole data center and tac cannot get any licensing method to work with DCNM on 1010 or otherwise.

How many Licenses of Acrobat Professional do I need for Adobe LC PDF Generator

At our customer site we have purchased 6 licenses of Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator and have recieved a license file with the keys for Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator and Adobe Acrobat Professional. We bought the license from a reseller of the product. We understand that the Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator is a server based software and needs 1 license per CPU. Each of our server (Dev, Val & Prod) have 2 CPU's so we have sufficient licenses (6). We are under the impression that this would suffice. How ever we are not sure on how many licenses we need for Acrobat Professional.
Here is a brief description of the way we would use Adobe LiveCycle PDF Generator. We are deploying a PLM system and one of the requirement is to render Word documents to PDF so we are using PDF Generator for this capability. On our Adobe servers we will install Microsoft Word, Acrobat Professional V9 Extended and the Adobe Livecycle PDF Generator. We will have around 150 users for the PLM system being deployed. The PLM system is a Web based system which means the PLM application server will be running on a Solaris server in our case. As part of the workflows in the PLM system, at the end of the workflow process, the PLM server would trigger a request to the Adobe server to convert the word document to PDF. The Adobe server processess the request and returns the PDF file that gets generated.
Based on the above usage of the system how many licenses of Acrobat Professional do we need? We will be installing Acrobat only on the server where we install the Livecycle PDF Generator. We had a call with our purchasing person today and she cautioned us that for Adobe Acrobat Professional we might need 1 license per user of the PLM system. She has asked us to check this with the Vendor of the product. Somehow I don't think it makes sense to purchase so many Acrobat Professional licenses even though we install only once.
So can someone tell me How does the licensing for Adobe Livecycle PDF Generator work? How many Acrobat Professional licenses we actually need? Is it based on the number of users in the system that is triggering the request? Appreciate your response on this.

You really should talk to your Adobe Sales Rep about this. There are all kinds of special deals, licenses and such for customers using LiveCycle. (For instance the license for PDFG may include Acrobat licenses for certain uses).

You have one license.
You can download and install it on an infinite number of computers, as long as it is only installed on two of your computers at any one time, and in use on only one computer at any given time.
So in your case, current iMac, that's would mean its installed on one computer, no problem. Future iMac and future MacBook ... so if you uninstall from current iMac and install on Future iMac and future MacBook, it's now installed on two computers at a time, no problem, as long as you're not using Lightroom on both simultaneously. And if after that, you got two new computers and uninstalled Lightroom from the previous two, you're still good, it's only installed on two computers at any one time.

I would like to implement a cluster of 2x Cisco IronPort ESA appliances in an Active/Active manner.
It requires 4000 mail users, so how many license on each ESA appliance do I need to install? I suppose 2000 on each ESA.
When one of the ESA fails, is it possible for the remaining one to handle the load of 4000 users?
I am pretty new to this field. Please help.

Dear Tuan,
For 4000 user size, you can purchase a dual appliance bundle with 1, 3 or 5 year license with 4000 mailbox licenses. You will be given 2 x C370 with Centralized Management license (together with licenses of your bundled feature set).
You can run both in active/active configuration. With centralized management license, both can be formed as a cluster and you can manage the cluster configuration over web interface of one of the appliances.
Regarding whether one unit can handle the load, it will depend on your traffic load (peak message per hour, average message size, antispam, antivirus, outbreak filter, DLP, encryption, content filters, etc.). In my experience, one C370 should be able to handle traffic of similar size enterprise.
With SenderBase reputation filtering, you should already throttle/block 90+% of bad traffic coming from poor/bad reputation IP hosts. You can also make sure of the new AsyncOS 7.6 'rate limit for envelope sender' to throttle mass mailing attack of same sender (also internal outbreak emails).

We would like to inform you that to work simultaneously on 3 machine, you would need to purchase 3 seats.
As as per EULA, you can install and activate 1 license on 2 machines, however, cannot both the machines at the same time.

I'm thinking about getting it for Christmas but if it's limited to just one system I may want to wait until after I get my MBP in Jan or Feb to get it. In the Apple documentation they allow you to have it on those two computers simultaneously but you are only supposed to use one at a time - not have them both open.

Hi, you can install Photoshop CS5 on as many computers as you want, but it can only be activated on up to two instances at a time.
So if you had a single license, you would have to choose which boots you'd want Photoshop running on, and then move the activation between them, if that worked for you.
With two licenses, you could activate and run it on all four boot instances at once, no problem... You wouldn't have to continually switch or change the activations between systems.
This is an improvement in flexibility on how it used to be - until recently, Adobe had a limit on how many cumulative reactivations you could perform with your software license.
If you are going to buy more than one license, you might want to take a look at Adobe Volume Licensing, which gives a price discount plus the ability to run a single copy of the software with a single serial number on all machines and platforms (Windows and/or Mac) that you own, and expand if you need to.
