DCNM support for Nexus

1) As per release notes DCNM 4.2 we cannot perform software/configuration/power management for Cisco Nexus 2k and 5k from DCNM.
Is there some other solution with which we carry out above task
2) Also can DCNM manage QOS and Multicasting on Nexus 7k/5k/2k or not

I note Nexus syslogs are still not supported in CS-MARS v6.1.x Revised: January 27, 2011
With CS-MARS product now end of sale June 2011,  should I hold out any hope of a fix before end of Software Maint in June 2012 ?

  • IS Prime DCNM support for 2960 switches

    Hi All,
There is a requirement for a NMS solution, Solution must have a single dashboard
but in the netwroks i am having 2960s, N2K, N5K, N7K, in order to mange this data-center network
do I need to quoted for Cisco LMS and DCNM or LMS is enough

The most comprehensive single product solution for those set of devices would be LMS. It does have limitations in managing the User Tracking, VLAN (provisioning primarily) and SAN aspects of the data center switches. Note Nexus 2ks are not separately managed, but rather viewed as an integral part of their controlling 7k or 5k.
LMS Catalyst 2960 support described here.
    LMS Nexus support described here.
DCNM is not really designed for IOS-based devices. It has some very limited support for the Catalyst 6500 but other than that it is primarily focued on the NX-OS-based data center products. See the DCNM Release Compatibility Matrix for more details. (And add the DCNM 6.1 release notes updates.)

  • Support for Nexus syslogs

I am about to turn up some new Nexus switches, and am curious if anyone else has tried using MARS to discover and collect syslogs from NX-OS. If you've tried it, what was your experience? Are the Nexus syslogs close enough to IOS syslogs to at least let MARS understand most?
If it's a no-go, is there planned support for NX-OS in an upcoming MARS release?
    Thanks.

  • LMS 4.0, Support for Nexus VDC

    Hi everybody,
Does LMS 4.0 support the management of Nexus 7000 VDCs?
I don't need it do be able to do anything complex. I was just interested in syslog, polling, and config fetches. I can poll and ping the management IPs of the VDCs from the command line of the server itself, but it stays questioned and "UNKNOWN" in the device list.
The admin context of the Nexus 7000s are being added just fine. We recently built 4.0, coming from LMS 2.6. LMS 2.6 appears to add the VDC to the DCR without issue, but 4.0 does not. I just want to make sure that I'm not missing something.
    Thanks for the help!

  • LMS User Tracking for NEXUS 5548UP

    Dear,
A while ago I received a ticket from one of our customers because User Tracking was not working for NEXUS 5548UP on LMS 3.2. I opened a TAC case for this but this was normal since it is a Datacenter switch. Now the customer came back on this because they really want to see which server is connected to which switch port. I understood from the TAC engineer this is not on the roadmap to integrate in LMS 4.x. They want to know if there exists another product (they thought about DCNM) and wanted to know how this integrates or works together with LMS...
    Kind regards,
    Sven Laureyssens

My latest understanding of User Tracking and Nexus 5K series is that it is not supported due to a limitation of the MIB support in the NX-OS.
The current DCNM (release 5.2) is distinct from the LMS and Cisco Prime umbrella but that wil be changing a bit moving forwad as DCNM is enhanced and rolled into the Cisco Prime family. Last I heard there should be some information coming out of Cisco Live this week and a new release will have some additional functionality and better integration. Still, I doubt we'll see UT for the 5K due to the NX-OS limitation.
One way to do what you're asking apart from use of any of the Cisco products is to enable LLDP on your Nexus and servers. That will at least give you the ability to pull the information from the NX-OS command line ("show lldp neighbor")

  • Cisco LAN Management Solution is required to support Cisco Nexus 5548P and 5596UP switches?

    Hi,
Could someone help to know what Cisco LAN Management Solution is required to support Cisco Nexus 5548P switches and Cisco Nexus 5596UP switches?
These new Cisco switches are being implementing on customer network and he ask us that he requires these equipments be supported on a LMS solution (customer currently is using LMS 3.2.1)
    Can someone help?
    Thanks in advanced,
    guruiz

Some very limited Nexus support is present in LMS 3.2.1 - see the supported device table here.
To get more complete support, including the 5596UP, they need to upgrade to LMS 4.x (e.g.  LMS 4.2.2 is the latest and is sold under the Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 umbrella). The major upgrade from 3.x to 4.x requires purchasing an upgrade license.
Some functions (namely User Tracking ) will not be available on the 5k due to non-support of the requisite MIB on the device. I believe LMS still doesn't let you do VLAN management on 5k's - you need to use DCNM for that if you want to do it from a GUI.
See the table here for LMS 4.2 device support.

  • Support for C 'n' Q with CG-revision Athlon 64

Recently I bought a MSI K8T FSR motherboard and an Athlon 64 3000+, CG-revision. The new system is very stable and fast, the processor seems to be correctly identified, the only problem is Cool and Quiet isn't working.
I've installed clean copy's of Windows XP and Windows 2000, installed all latest software (corecenter etc), biosses and drivers, configured power management in Windows and enabled the feature in the bios, installed the special processor driver/software but still the clockspeed seems to be locked. The AMD cpuinfo tool and the msi corecenter both report a constant clockspeed of 2000 Mhz when run in Windows 2000 and a constant speed of 1600Mhz when run in XP. Heavy benchmarking or let the pc idling for 15 minutes, clockspeeds won't change. The constant 1600 Mhz reading in Xp is especially starnge, according the to AMD whitepaper this isn't a speedstepping for the processor, it should be switching between 1000/1800/2000Mhz. (see http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/30430.pdf , page 9, at column ADA3000AEP4AR)
In the release notes, it says support for the CG-revision of the processor is added in the last bios version, but C 'n' Q for Cg is still to come?
In a dutch forum, I'm not the only one encountering this problem, so I suspect it's not a standalone case.
The other hardware in my system, just for the reference: zalman 7000A cooler, nexus 3000 psu, 40 GB maxtor harddisk, geforce 2 MX, 512 MB PC3200 Kingston mem.

That worked!  I went to the AMD site you mentioned, more specifically, this page, and downloaded the last program on the bottom of the page.  After a restart, vwaa-la!  800 MHz!  Never thought I'd be so happy to see my new machine run slower than my old machine.
Anyway, it works now... thanks for the help ... hope you get yours working too.

  • Still no support for multiple users!!

The only reason I recently updated to 5.0 is I was anxiously awaiting the addition of multi-user support to my Lenovo A10-70 tablet. I had bought it for my young daughter after she broke the screen on her Nexus. Well, without support for User Accounts, this tablet is useless to a parent. I cannot believe a large company like Lenovo does not offer this with its Android tablets!  Mark, Cleo, Serene, Lenovo admins - I hope you are reading this. I am also posting this on Amazon where I bought my tablet. Such a shame - great hardware but such poor software choices. P.S. Major issues with the new update to Android 5.0. WiFi does not stay connected. Many Google apps will not run, including Gmail!

Multi-user support is not common in tablets - so far, the ONLY tablet I have found with solid multi-user support is the Galaxy Tab/Note 4 (and even it has issues if you mis-configure it).  (Why do I refer to the Tab/Note 4?  Yes - the Note 4 is a phablet, and is typically sold via providers AND has a taller resolution than the Tab 4; those are, in fact, the ONLY differences between the Tab 4 and Note 4.  They have common features otherwise, and even their updates are released simultaneously.)  Lenovo even did the same thing with the A-series - compare their phablet models (G, GV, and H) with their wireless-only F models - you'll find so many commonalities it's not funny.  It's the phablets that are getting all the update love (especially when it comes to Lollipop); tablets (F subseries), not so much. Also, phablets are huge in Asia and India (look at sales of the G, GV, and H - the forums HERE are also rather obvious in those reporting successful updates - they are all from Asia or India); Lenovo doesn't push phablets in Europe or North America.  (I have no idea whether it is provider resistance or not.)  If you want solid multi-user support as a parent, look to Samsung (simply because they actually implemented it properly, which most tablet OEMs aren't going to be bothered with - it's not a knock specifically on Lenovo, because it's not specifically a Lenovo issue). On the Lollipop update issue; how many of us are still soldiering on with the same amount of storage that our tablets came with?  (I'm referring mainly to us F-subseries folks.)  The thing about the F subseries is that they all have small - if not downright miniscule - amounts of usable eMMC storage; out of the 8GB of eMMC storage the device has, only half that - 4GB - is usable from the start.  And every app you install, and assorted things that go along with it, eats into that.  Look at the size of the UPDATES that are being reported; S000023 alone is nearly 200MB.  The big combo updates - and if you're coming merely from S000020, which is the North American starting place for the F - you're talking nearly a gigabyte just to get to S000027 - do you have that much usable storage?  We may well have to bite the bullet and install medium or large (16GB/32GB) microSD cards in our tablets just because of the update-size issue.  (It's not like 16GB microSD cards are all that expensive, even retail - I see them at the local Best Buy for - at worst - $15 for SanDIsk Ultra - that's the high end brand of microSD card.)  We may be getting those "you have the latest version" due to available-space constraints - I've seen it happen on space-coinstrained WINDOWS PCs often enough.

  • UCS 1.4 support for PVLAN

    Hi all,
Cisco advise UCS 1.4 supports PVLAN. But i see the following comment about PVLAN in UCS 1.4
"UCS extends PVLAN support for non virtualised deployments (without vSwitch ) . "
"UCS release 1.4(1) provides support for isolated PVLAN support for physical server access ports or for Palo CNA vNIC ports."
Does this means PVLAN won't work for virtual machine if VMs is connected to UCS by Nexus1000v or vDS although i am using PALO (M81KR) card?
    Could anybody can confirm that?
    Thank you very much!

Have not got that working so far...how would that traffic flow work?
    1000v -> 6120 -> 5020 -> 6500s
    (2) 10Gbe interfaces, one on each fabric to the blades. All VLANs (including the PVLAN parent and child VLAN IDs) are defined and added to the server templates - so propagated to each ESX host.
At this point, nothing can do layer 3 except for the 6500s. Let's say my primary VLAN ID for one PVLAN is 160 and the isolated vlan ID is 161...
    On the Nexus 1000v:
    vlan 160
      name TEN1-Maint-PVLAN
      private-vlan primary
      private-vlan association 161
    vlan 161
      name TEN1-Maint-Iso
      private-vlan isolated
    port-profile type vethernet TEN1-Maint-PVLAN-Isolated
      description TEN1-Maint-PVLAN-Isolated
      vmware port-group
      switchport mode private-vlan host
      switchport private-vlan host-association 160 161
      no shutdown
      state enabled
    port-profile type vethernet TEN1-Maint-PVLAN-Promiscuous
      description TEN1-Maint-PVLAN-Promiscuous
      vmware port-group
      switchport mode private-vlan promiscuous
      switchport private-vlan mapping 160 161
      no shutdown
      state enabled
    port-profile type ethernet system-uplink
description Physical uplink from N1Kv to physical switch
      vmware port-group
      switchport mode trunk
      switchport trunk allowed vlan all
      channel-group auto mode on mac-pinning
      no shutdown
      system vlan 20,116-119,202,1408
      state enabled
This works fine to and from VMs on the same ESX host (PVLAN port-profiles work as expected)...If I move a VM over to another host, nothing works...pretty sure not even if in same promiscuous port-profile. How does the 6120 handle this traffic? What do they get tagged with when they leave the 1000v?

  • Photoshop touch for nexus 6?

Is there going to be a release for nexus 6

Neither versions of the .apk (phone or tablet) appear in the Play store -- and when manually locating the packages in Google Play I see that the Nexus 6 device is unsupported, which I'm sure is unintentional.  (See screenshots)
Comparing the AndroidManifest.xml file in both versions against the one in PS Express (which does allow install from Play Store), it seems apparent that the screenSize and/or screenDensity qualifiers are the culprits to blame...

Any word on when NX-OS is going to be supported by QPM?  LMS 3.2/4.0 have support for NX-OS, just wondering if anything has been announced about when QPM is going to get updated to add this support.

  • 10Gig Copper SFP for Nexus F Series module (N7K-F248XP-25E)

Does Cisco have 10Gig Copper SFP which can be supported on Nexus platform in the F Series module (N7K-F248XP-25E)

    Leo,
Thank you for the answer, you mentioned 10Gig Copper module in your reply (Part# N7K-F248XT-25E) but I already have Fiber Module (Part# N7K-F248XP-25E), I just need 2 10Gig copper ports for my storage and cant afford to buy a whole new Copper module. My question was if there is any 10Gig Copper SFP supported on F Series Fiber Module (Part# N7K-F248XP-25E), (not a twinax/DAC cable since my distance is longer and Twinax wont work)
