DCOM Error 10009

After renaming a Windows 2008 x86 SP 2 we now constantly see this error in the system log, DCOM is trying to connect to the old hostname, any ideas on how to resolve this?

  • DCOM error 10009 + referenced computer doesn't exist

For some time, we've been seeing a recurring DCOM 10009 error, "DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer <computername> using any of the configured protocols."  The computer in question was a PDC that crashed, so we were unable
to cleanly remove it from the domain.  I traced the DCOM communication attempts to the Certificate Services Client scheduled task "SystemTask", which executes every 8 hours (and generates the DCOM error every 8 hours).
I followed the steps to delete all the AD metadata associated with the failed PDC as per the following article, but ndtsutil didn't find any trace of the computer to remove and no trace of it exists in DNS either:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc736378(WS.10).aspx
Is there some way to get the Certificate Services Client to stop looking for the failed PDC?
    Thanks,

  • DCOM errors ID: 10010

    Hello,
I was checking on my "event viewer" and I found tons of errors DCOM related, all of them have as the event id: 10010.
Checking for details is not only related to one application only but several:
The server App.AppX54xz6wnkhmw763c2y8tb018n7d71dtx7.wwa did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The server AppexNews.AppXm7hnj7tzqqzrmb6spmf0x4fb91edcc71.mca did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The server Microsoft.WindowsLive.Mail.AppXj3e9v0xw9sf8t58nqr15tqqb2yq4zsfg.mca did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The server AppexSports.AppXzwt95zf827jx8vevssdmkdacbwrgjgeb.mca did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
... and much, much more different apps getting the same error.
Runing the Windows 8.1 pro x64

Hello, none of the errors have something to do with the display of ASP pages, it's related to specific applications like:
The server Microsoft.WindowsLive.Mail.AppXj3e9v0xw9sf8t58nqr15tqqb2yq4zsfg.mca did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The server AppexSports.AppXzwt95zf827jx8vevssdmkdacbwrgjgeb.mca did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The server AppexNews.AppXm7hnj7tzqqzrmb6spmf0x4fb91edcc71.mca did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
The server App.AppX54xz6wnkhmw763c2y8tb018n7d71dtx7.wwa did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.
... and many many others. A thing that occurs every few minutes is the explorer restarts and when I check the event log, the DCOM errors are only ones that appear at that specific time.

  • Client stops working and getting DCOM error in event viewer

    Hi
I am getting these errors after upgrading the client from 2007 to 2012.. the client works for a certain amount of time then stops functioning as expected. Logs not moving and get error when manually cycling policy etc from client.
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

    Hi Jason,
The service is running and the ccmexec.log does not stop but its rolled over since the issue occurred. About 30% of the logs continue logging and the rest stop with no action.I done a WMIDiag and I could see issues with missing namespaces and DCOM errors.
I am unistalling the client and reinstalling which fixes the issue for a short period of time, then I will do a WMIDiag once its working then monitor. Once it breaks I will do another WMIDiag and fetch the logs in to see if there are any indicators to why
    this is happening.
Is there anything else you would do at this point?

  • Seeing multiple DCOM errors generating event ID 10016 in System Event log

Hi there. Our current SharePoint server running Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition SP1 and not on the domain is getting it's event logs filled up every 15 minutes to an hour with the following DCOM error:
    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: DCOM
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 10016
    Date:  26/11/2014

to the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE SID (S-1-5-20).  This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp
I have attempted the following fix to add the local admin account to the security permissions under the following service: 61738644-F196-11D0-9953-00C04FD919C1 which was what Microsoft recommended from looking at a few random google results which had no
effect and caused the same error to continue to happen.
We run Windows SharePoint Services WSS 3.0 on this server which is our primary intranet server.
Has this happened to anyone else and what would you suggest we do to fix it?

    Hi Steven,
The results of trying this generated the same DCOM error again at the early hours of this morning as it's always done.
The exact error generated from the server is listed below:
    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: DCOM
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 10016
    Date:  3/12/2014
    Time:  4:31:30 AM

For more information, see Help and Support Center at

Given this machine isn't on the domain and we have to log into it as local administrator, the local administrator account has been granted local launch and local activation permissions under IIS WAMREG admin on the server.
Was this the correct account, or should I have granted permissions to another account?

  • DPM 2012 UR3 Agent Update Error: HRESULT E_FAIL...DCOM Error

My DPM Server is Windows 2008 R2 SP1 with a locally installed SQL and DPM Server and fully patched. My Workstations are all Windows 7 Ultimate x64, fully patched. I have manually installed the DPM RTM Agent and pushed the UR2 update from the DPM Server
without any challenges or issues. I have SCEP running with process exclusions for the DPM services on the WS and DPM Server. I’ve been running DPM 2012 RTM and then UR2 without any issues or challenges to-date.
I have recently updated my DPM 2012 Server from UR2 to UR3 and pushed out all the Agent Updates, which appeared to go successfully from the DPM Console perspective. I spot checked a few systems, 1 workstation (WS) and 1 server, everything looked good. A
couple of days after this I noticed 2 of my workstations failed backing up to Tape. I noticed the recovery options available for these WS’s have stopped updating hours after pushing the UR3 Agent update. The 2 WS’s I'm troubleshooting have a little different
scenario. I have 2 other WS’s that were updated in the same manner and are working perfectly.
Both WS cannot connect to the DPM Server and displays this DCOM Error:
"ERROR:ERROR HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component."
The 1st WS DPM Client has a Yelow Sign over-lay and "Administrator has not configured backups." when you hover over it.
The 2nd WS does not the Yellow Sign over-lay.
All the properties of the Local DPM Client Console 'Summary and Protected item'  tabs are not updated on the 1st WS but are on the 2nd WS.
    1st WS process:
The Recovery Tab shows the available recover dates to choice from.
I can expand one of the backup dates, folders and copy a file to this system.
I can view my previous recovery Points from the console dating back to when I updated the Agents.
I’ve validated the DCOM settings on both WS's compared to a WS that is working, they are the same.
I uninstalled the agent manually, then copied and reinstalled the new UR3 Agent Version with the same outcome.
I uninstalled the new version and reinstalled the previous version, same error.
I then proceeded with upgrading UR2 agent version installing the UR3 version over the top, same error.
I logged on to this WS as the Domain Admin, removed and reinstalled the UR3 version, same error.
I removed, applied and then re-added the DPM server to the local WS DPM and DCOM Groups.
I removed, applied and then re-added the WS from the Groups on the DPM Server.
I’m able to see, ping and view other backup folders presented on the DPM server on this WS.
In the DPM Console I am able to connect to this Workstation successfully from the Administrative, Agent Space.
The DPMClientProtectionCurr.errlog file shows this repeatedly:

    The 2nd WS Process:
I did not remove or touch the local agent installation because the information is populated on this client’s agent properties fields.
I can see the folder selections I’ve chosen to be backed up by the protection group configuration.
When i open the Agent UI I receive the sam DCOM error.
I also receive a different error message on this WS when I try and do a Sync Now from the General Tab: Failed to trigger synchronization.
I was able to perform a consistency check on this WS that completed successfully from the DPM server.
I’ve validated the networking configuration settings are correct.
    I flushed local DNS cache.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I have a Windows 7 x64 machine that exhibits this problem. It seems that it is not caused on the client side but on the server side.
In our case the server logs the following every time the client tries to connect:
WARNING    Verify disconnected client failed with exception: System.ArgumentException: Das Element wurde bereits hinzugefügt. Schlüssel im Wörterbuch: "<machinename>". Hinzuzufügender Schlüssel: "<machinename>".
(Translation: Element has already been added. Key in Table: "<machinename>". Key to be added: "<machinename>".
I have uninstalled the agent on the client several times. One time I have seen the following error message on the server side:
Deployment.cs(2815)            NORMAL    Removing all agent records for server[<machinename>] from table InstalledAgent.

Errors on the client side appear the moment the agent is re-added to the DPM server (I use "connect agent" instead of "install agent"). After that moment I get the message "Error connection to the DPM server. Error: a COM-component returned E_FAIL" every time
I open the DPM client. This is mirrored by the Verify error mentioned above on the server side.
To me it seems that parts of the machine config are still in the MSDB after removal (maybe caused by the registry error). If this client is connected again, the orphaned database entries cause the Verify error
If that's true, how could we get rid of those entries? Would it help to rename the client?

  • DCOM error - 10010 - Server 2008 R2 Standard

My server is generating a DCOM error with GUID : 995C996E-D918-4A8C-A302-45719A6F4EA7
I did some research and found that this should be due to Auto play being enabled, I disabled it and restarted the server but the DCOM event is still happening.
Another DCOM event is also generated by GUID B286F068-5B17-4AE8-989B-8F9A199C47BA which refer to an HP printer DLL, no one is having any issue with the printer so wondering why it is logging that event.
    Any idea ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Regarding to Event ID: 10010 Source: DCOM, please refer to the following thread. It provided the possible causes
    of DCOM Event ID 10010.
    DistributedCOM Error ID 10010
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/77b1db1d-f186-4515-8f7d-2241942eb9b7/distributedcom-error-id-10010?forum=winservergen
Based on current situation of this problem, please use
sfc /scanfile command to scans integrity of this specified DLL file. And then check the printer and make sure that install exactly the right drivers. Meanwhile, please find if can update
    the printer driver.
By the way, you can use
regsvr32 <filename> command to re-register the DLL file. Then please monitor if the Event ID 10010 still persists.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,

  • DCOM Error, found solut

Well each time I was booting up I was getting the same DCOM error most people on here were getting. What I ended up doing was going to Start - Run - msconfig - startup tab - then I unchecked SBdrvDet. I restarted and no error. So here I am a couple days later saying I have no problems and its still working with no errors.
So what im asking is, is there anything bad about doing thing? I havent seen any problems.

That should be ok, all you have done is prevented that program from loading when you boot, it is still available to be called by any process if required. If you have lost no functionality consider yourself smart.

    Hi all,
We are experiencing an issue which happens at random whenever a user tries to export data from SAP into Excel or Word.  Excel or Word is started but remain empty.  We then see the below errors in the event log.  And the problem is very random
as sometimes all they have to do is wait 10 minutes and the next try will be successful.  Not even log off/on.  Could someone tell me what the error "1260" is saying?     thanks for your help.

    Hi,
Based on my research, please try the following:
Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
    Locate the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\termsrv
Under this subkey, add the following registry entries:
    Name
    Type
    Value data
    Logoff
    REG_SZ
    TSEventLogoff
    Logon
    REG_SZ
    TSEventLogon
    Restart the Terminal Server computer.
Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry
before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, please refer to
How to back up and restore the registry in Windows.
    Hope this helps.

  • COM/DCOM Error for RFC CRMXIF_ORDER_SAVE

    Hi everybody,
I'm trying to create a SalesOrder from within a VBA environment on a SAP CRM 3.1 system. There is a SalesOrderCRM object on the system but only the God and probably the SAP knows how the input_field structure of the CreateDetailMulti BAPI/Method is to be filled for the method to work properly. I've been using the CRMXIF_ORDER_SAVE to create new Sales Ordersfrom my ABAP programms it was simple, fast and worked perfectly. Now I wanted to do the same thing from a VBA enviroment but when i try to wrap the function I get this error on the SAP DCOM Connector 'Cannot map RfcType 0x1c'. Access through the "SAP.Functions" Active X control fails too. With other BAPI's I'm not having problems of any kind, they can be mapped and accesed from VBA without problems. It seems to me that the data structure of the parameter DATA is just to complex to be mapped. Does anybody has any other idea's, how is this problem to be confronted?
    Cheers
    Astrit
    P.S.
I'v already updated my workstation to the latest version of the librfc32.dll

    Hello Astrit,
We are also creating sales contract document (object BUS2000121)  by calling crmxif_order_save in a ABAP Program but the performance is very bad for example if i have to create a sales contract document containing 1000~1200 items, the function module is taking more than 3 hours.
Have you ever faced such a performance problem?
Have you aware of any flag setting in the input data
structure of crmxif_order_save which will improve the performance?
If you have any tips then pls let me know.
    Best Regards
    Ravi

Please let me know any solutions to fix....
Steps, I did try from one of the blogs -
Open Component Services. Got oStart --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Components Services. Expand the Component Services branch then expand Computers, My Computer and DCOM Config. Right-click on "sms agent host" (my case) and click
Properties. Click on the Security tab and under “Launch and Activation Permissions” select "edit" and add user Local Service (Local lunch). Click OK, close the Component Services window.
In the Launch Permission dialog box, make sure that the Everyone group has Remote Launch and Remote Activation permissions.
In the Launch Permission dialog box, make sure that the SMS Reporting Users local group has following permissions:
Local Launch / Remote Launch / Local Activation / Remote Activation
Also added Remote Launch / Remote Activation permission for Network Service (for the SMS_Reporting_Point)
Added Admin Group to the "ConfigMgr Remote Control Users"
    VT

In addition, In the security policy the ‘Local Service’ need to be configured for the following Policies
    - Generate security audits
    - Create global objects
    - Replace a process level token
    - Adjust memory quotas for a process
    - Impersonate a client after authentication
    - Log on as a service
    - Bypass traverse checking
    Hope this helps.

  • Remote control using DCOM: Error: "ActiveX component cannot be created."

    Hello,
I want to address a OMICRON CPC100 device via remote control. I have a dll ("TESTCONTROL.dll"), which provides methods to control the CPC100. In order to encapsulate this functionality, I've written a VB.NET-dll ("CLC_CL_for_Net.dll") (it's a class-dll) which calls methods of TESTCONTROL.dll. Now I want to use CLC_CL_for_Net.dll in LabVIEW.
    Here's the code of CLC_CL_for_Net.dll:
    Imports TESTCONTROLLib
    Namespace MyCPCNamespace
        Public Class CPCClass
            Public Sub New()
            End Sub
Public Sub testfunction(ByVal ipaddress As String)
                Dim tc As TestProcedure
                Dim atm As IATMTest
tc = CreateObject("TestControl.TestProcedure", ipaddress)   '<-- here the error occurs!
                atm = CreateObject("TestControl.ATMTest", ipaddress)
                atm.Activate(300, 10, 1)
                atm.Deactivate()
            End Sub
        End Class
    End Namespace
In order to enable DCOM on my computer, I did the following:
    - I switched the firewall off.
    - I started "dcomcnfg.exe", chose "Component Services/Computers/My Computer -> Properties" and checked the checkbox "Enable Distributed COM on this computer".
    - I also chose the tab "My Computer Properties/COM Security" and allowed everyone full access and launch
    permissions.
    - I created an exe-file from my LabVIEW VI, which uses the dll, with the help of the LabVIEW Application Builder.
For this exe-file and also for the TESTCONTROL, I set the authentication level to "None".
For test purposes, I used my dll in a C++ project. There everything works fine. However, when I try to use the dll
in LabVIEW (using LabVIEW's .NET constructor node and method node, which you can find under Connectivity -> .NET), the program fails at the line "tc = CreateObject("TestControl.TestProcedure", ipAddress)".
Here the error message displayed by LabVIEW (I translated it from German into English):
"Error 1172 has occurred at Error calling method CLC_CL_for_Net.MyCPCNamespace.CPCClass.testfunction of ObjectId
handle: 0x2BB117C for obj 0x3F19E1D[CLC_CL_for_Net.MyCPCNamespace.CPCClass] in domain [LabVIEW Domain for Run] and
thread 3792, (System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
Inner Exception: System.Exception: The ActiveX component cannot be created.
    ) in CPC100_RemoteControlVI.vi"
As the dll works when I use it in the C++ project, I don't understand why this error occurs when I use the dll in
LabVIEW. Do I have to give LabVIEW any special permissions?
Can anyone help me to solve this problem? Thanks a lot for your efforts!
    Regards,
    Matthias

    Hi Matthias,
I am not really familiar with .NET assemblies but I found couple informations on your error :
First of all, about the Error 1172 in LabVIEW, there is two things to proof:
Ensure that the .NET assemblies that you are using are saved in the root directory of the top-level VI.
Add the .NET assembly as a reference in LabVIEW by selecting Tools»Advanced»NET Assembly References. Click the Add button and navigate to the location of all the assemblies that you want to call.
Those two steps sometimes solve Error 1172 related problems. I also found some information about the "ActiveX component cannot be created" error. A .Net Class library needs to be in a COM wrapper in order for it to be called through COM methods, such as ActiveX. The way to do so is:
    1. Create a new .NET Class Library project.
    2. Remove the Class1.vb that is created.
    3. Click Add Class on your project.
    4. Choose "COM Class", and add it.
    5. Add at least 1 function or sub in it.
    6. Compile it, and Visual Studio should registrer it automaticly.
If you whish to manuall reg it, or create a registry entry file, use "RegAsm.exe" in the .NET Framework folder.
I hope this could be any helpful to you

  • Dcom error While configuring HFM 11.1.1.2

    Hi,
I am facing issue while configuring dcom through the configuration utility.
The log configtool_summary.log just gives the error ..." Configure DCOM::Fail "
I have checked all the access for the user(administrator) and the required security settings.
    Please help.

First log a support case with Oracle.
Next carefully review all EPM and HFM readme files as well as the installation and pre-installation documentation for your specific version. I have linked the readme files below. You can find the other documentation at: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/index.htm
Confirmed you have put the Server2003NegotiateDisable registry key per attached readme -- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/readme/epm_11112_readme.html
You must reboot after above key is properly setup.
    Next:
    1.Launch DCOM (dcomcnfg)
    2.Expand Component Services
    3.Expand Computers
    4.Expand My Computer
    5. Right click on My Computer and select properties
    6. Ensure Default Authentication Level is set to NONE and Impersonation level is set to IDENTIFY
    7. Apply changes from prior step and reboot if you changed anything.
Then run the client configuration procedures you see in below readme:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/readme/hfm_11112_readme.html
    Good luck,
